Lesbians react to London Pride

Some very passionate responses from the lesbian community, since the anti-trans protests.

When Jennifer James pushed to sue the labour party, the result was the labour party clarified it's position as self-id for AWS

This has a similar ring to it, as the anti-trans protesters tried to co-opt the lesbian community, there has been a vocal backlash and clarification of support for trans people.

I've had a bit of a lightbulb moment, though I know many have said this before in different ways.

It must be really hard when you're trying to identify into another group (females) , but you want to signal youself (as trans) as 'the most oppressed, misunderstood, harrassed, underserved group'.

If the group you're trying to 'identify' into is oppressed, misunderstood, harrassed, underserved'. Just moving into that group isn't enough.

You have to deny, ignore, belittle that group's experience, because otherwise you'd just become subsumed into that experience. Which isn't enough when you're narcissistic, self-obsessed, and actually don't like the group you're trying to be part of very much!

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 09/07/2018 22:18

If anyone in the transgender community, or any of their allies, was to suggest we do that, I would vehemently disagree.

Wow. You really do need to stick around. It's going to blow your mind...

Datun · 09/07/2018 22:18

Everyone should be calling out sexual predators, which do not just target the lesbian community, but most vulnerable and marginalized communities out there.

Why don't you? Go ahead, you can start with Geraldine. Flowers

If anyone in the transgender community, or any of their allies, was to suggest we do that, I would vehemently disagree.

I'd like to hear you disagree with the girl guides policy of allowing 14-year-old intact boys to shower and share overnight accommodation with 10-year-old girls, with explicit protocols to not tell the parents.

Also Swim England's advice that little girls who don't want to see adult penises in the changing need to be 're-educated', but breasts have to be covered up as they are inappropriate.

Also the Youth hostelling association. Where teenage girls can book a female only dormitory, only to find it includes males.

Call it out, then.

Ucantarguewistupid · 09/07/2018 22:20

So sorry to hear that Geraldine, well done for being brave enough to share and shine a light.

Lb.... So you and your pals will be heading over here www.datalounge.com/thread/21585006
And accusing them of hate speech, transphobia etc etc? Oh remember to demand they accept male vaginas or is it male penis? You get what I mean tho....

Datun · 09/07/2018 22:22

LGBTQIA

I tell you what, perhaps you'd like to go on record and state publicly that you don't think Ian Huntley, rapist and double child killer, is an actual biological woman.

And should not go to a female prison.

Whilst you're at it, perhaps explain why he isn't. And maybe help women to campaign over distinctions.

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 22:23

Or, you know, get fucking angry and be piss-takingly funny along with it to release the pressure of arguing with relentless streams of visiting chumpnuggets.

Grin
Rufustheyawningreindeer · 09/07/2018 22:24

I think i may be feeding my children chumpnuggets Sad

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 09/07/2018 22:24

No its ok

THEY ARE BIRDS EYE

SophoclesTheFox · 09/07/2018 22:26

I only got half way down this thread :(

twitter.com/fedupfemme/status/930279352775921664

Yeah, nothing to see here.

pombear · 09/07/2018 22:27

Geraldine missed your post Flowers . I'm forever surprised that the sexual aspect of some males who present as women is glossed over.

Even when trans advisors highlight that they're part of the 'trans' statistics.

Here I go again with Tara Hewit, trans advisor, anyone in doubt of 'males with a sexual fetish' included in the definition of 'trans' please watch from about 4 minutes in.

Even the 'trans educators' acknowledge this group within the trans umbrella.

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 22:29

If anyone in the transgender community, or any of their allies, was to suggest we do that, I would vehemently disagree.

Better get on to Allsorts and Mermaids stat, then. Mention confidential disclosures and Working Together (that's multi agency safeguarding statutory framework, in case you were unaware).

You really aren't very good at this, are you?

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 09/07/2018 22:30

And I think we're done.

Datun wins the thread (again). Staunch support all round. Not me, I got deleted Blush

We're all seriously worried about rufus' chumpnugget-fed children.

Vermillion is a pbp?

Lgbtqia is off to either n/c to Terfsrus or lgbtqiabcdefghi?

Stand by for the next installment.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 09/07/2018 22:31

We're all seriously worried about rufus' chumpnugget-fed children

Not half as worried as i am

Though it would explain the smell...

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 22:32

Thank you and also for giving me a space to say what happened to me and be believed. That is more important than I realised.

Flowers I am sorry that this happened to you and outraged that a therapist - FFS - gaslit you about it.

Bespin · 09/07/2018 22:33

Well I'm buggered then thats me dieing of cancer 😕

there is and as always been a debate about who is under the trans umbrella and if the different parts of the trans community need different things for different reasons. when a wrote a policy years ago I was very clear that poeples. goals maybe different

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 09/07/2018 22:35

Daimbars you're lucky then.

A book group where I live had a huge falling out over pronouns and whether to read books by detransitioned women.

One less social group for women who are lesbians/female homosexuals who wish to meet other lesbians/female homosexuals

Bespin · 09/07/2018 22:36

Rufustheyawningreindeer maybe that's why you seem to be swearing so much lol cut down on ya chimpnuggets

Bespin · 09/07/2018 22:38

to. be fare having been in book. groups they are mostly waiting to fall out about. something lol

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 09/07/2018 22:38

I missed a page or 12.

Geraldine I'm so sorry for the abuse you lived through and I'm sorry your therapist was so shockingly awful

thebewilderness · 09/07/2018 22:40

It's literally exactly why I don't want to see a return to the days when it was perfectly fine and acceptable to call all transgender women perverts and nonces.

Yanno that thing where the transgender advocates wanted to be a larger group so they raised the trans umbrella in 2005 to include cross dressers and other fetishes? Big mistake.

When more and more Gays and Lesbians came out of the closet and people realized they were our friends and family members, not the monsters portrayed by propagandists in the media, religion, and government, the stigma dissipated and given time will disappear.

What we are seeing with transgender advocacy is just the opposite. The more people see and hear transgenders rant at Lesbians, and advocate transitioning children who do not comply with rigid gender stereotypes, the more they look like monsters.

LangCleg · 09/07/2018 22:42

There's no fucking debate about who belongs under the trans umbrella if we have self-ID. That's the whole fucking point.

Christ on a bike. Surely HQ has some actual big guns in its armoury?

thebewilderness · 09/07/2018 22:43

Geraldine I'm so sorry they did that to you. Wine Cake

thebewilderness · 09/07/2018 22:44

I would stay you with apples and comfort you with flagons but there is no effing apple emotie fer crying out loud.

seriously LangCleg you do know the whole cabel thing is a joke don't you. there is no HQ the trans community is like bag of cats I've been in the room. with a lot of them we don't agree on. a lot of stuff the first stonewall meeting was quite a tense meeting and some people could not work with others
