MNHQ Deletion Policy

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:03

Earlier today the Trans Park Run thread was deleted in its entirety because SOME posts alleging cheating were deemed to be 'not in the spirit' of MN.

We have a thread about that running.

I have just been deleted on the Heather Peto thread for posting this:

"Bless..."

A post intended to be mildly dismissive.

That was deleted for breaking talk guidelines.

Give me a fucking break MNHQ.

"Bless..." gets a deletion!??!?!

TRA really have got you on a short chain, haven't they?

The moderation certainly does seem different to day from what I have seen. I'm hoping it's moderator inconsistency rather than a policy change.

KnittinKitten · 30/04/2018 17:06
Shock
AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 17:06

OK this is just silly. Please explain what people are allowed to say in detail, @MNHQ, because if "Bless" breaks the guidelines then the guidelines may be a bit silly.

Terfulike · 30/04/2018 17:07

Please mn we value free speech. There is nowhere else where you can utter the basic truth: transwomen are men

I suspect that we are perhaps witnessing some variability in the trigger-happy propensity of individual moderators.

Combined with certain individuals with a vested interest in shutting down particular threads and discussions, who enjoy pressing the report button.

Bless.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 17:09

At the moment it's not clear if we can utter "hello" without someone getting trigger happy.

WhatLineyDidNext · 30/04/2018 17:10

I once got deleted for posting 'No'. I queried it the next day and it was a mistake apparently. Two different mods.

I think deleting mild sarcasm is going to make for a very dull talky website indeed.

BeUpStanding · 30/04/2018 17:10

That deletion makes no sense at all Confused. Exactly what spirit was it not in? Must be a different spirit to the one that presides over AIBU and the rest Talk.

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:10

And 'Heather' was illegible for the Jo Cox thingy because he, as Warren, already had had a career in politics.

HISTORICAL FACT.

(If I say that Miranda Yardley has also said as much, does that make a difference? Given that this is a 'transsexual' speaking, and therefore his (oops - but MY is happy to be referred to as he, so whatcha gonna do about that bit of 'misgendering'??) words as such hold greater weight and respect than mine, those of a mere uterus-bearer.

OP posts:
Tartyflette · 30/04/2018 17:10

Yes, I wonder if this links back to recent events regarding moderators.

TERFragetteCity · 30/04/2018 17:11

Pile ons from MRAs.

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:11

I am getting deletions here that I did not even get on FB.

THAT is saying something.

OP posts:
AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 17:13

Do they literally just delete anything that's reported without even looking at it?

TEST

Bless this house.

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:14

So.

If Miranda Yardley has said 'bless...' would that have got a deletion?

What about if Heather had pitched up and posted 'bless...' on a thread??

The way it looks here, you are only interested in silencing one half of the debate and one type of poster.

This made up thing transphobia gets trotted out to justify deletions. But the actual misogyny involved in saying that a man can identify as a woman and thereby actually and in fact be one? THAT is misogyny, yet that counts for nothing.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2018 17:16

Mods do sometimes simply make mistakes - I've mentioned before having a post deleted for referring to someone as 'he'. The mod presumably didn't realise I was referring to Donald Trump not Paris lees.

Hygge · 30/04/2018 17:17

And yet I've asked on a number of threads and in an email about how to get my old posts under former user names deleted because of that member of staff and MNHQ won't reply to me, not on threads or via the email they said we could use to raise concerns.

BarrackerBarmer · 30/04/2018 17:17

And we fall further down the rabbit hole.

This warren is most unpleasant.

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:17

Someone got deleted for posting:

yawn

FFS.

Get a grip and stop doing a passable impression of a bunch of transmaidens.

OP posts:
TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:18

Errol - that's pretty funny. Maybe they were objecting as the use of 'he' implies that Trump is human?

OP posts:
TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:18

Good one Barrack

OP posts:
AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 17:22

I'm fairly certain that Trump is a not entirely sentient carrot in a wig stolen from the Muppet Show's prop department.

That is nastier than anything I've said about any trans person on Mumsnet. Does the protective comments deleted on demand umbrella apply to anyone, or just trans people?

MaterialReality · 30/04/2018 17:25

Aw, bless.

SophieLMumsnet · 30/04/2018 17:26

We deleted 'bless' because it seemed goady and designed to belittle, which isn't what we're about really. We'd rather not turn this into a taat, though - there's already a thread running about park run, and we can answer further questions about that over there.

KnittinKitten · 30/04/2018 17:29

Will that be standard now across the boards on all threads now sophieMN?
