If you think mn is strongly transphobic....

I find it very unfair to be accused of transphobia when I am not actually worried about trans people as such. I am worried about how bad men might abuse legislative changes . I am worried about giving bad men more opportunities . About how people might be able to pretend to be trans. I suspect this is a threat to both biological women and trans women.

I linked to them valentines

My information wasn’t commented on.

Valentinesfart · 05/03/2018 18:55

While I appriciate there is nothing we can do to keep out the bad men.

I'd rather not make it quite so easy for them to share a shower with my daughter in a gym locker room. Does that really make me transphobic?

BronwenFrideswide · 05/03/2018 18:56

Indeed Truscum and silencing them with the most horrific abuse and surprise, surprise actively discriminating against them. It might open Rumpled's eyes if they bothered to find out what it means and why you applied the name to yourself before dismissing you though.

However, Rumpled has just stated they are totally against self-id which seems contradictory when put with the other comments they have made.

Wobbleslikeaweeble · 05/03/2018 18:57

I don’t identify as being transphobic or a bigot so obviously I can’t be one.

Yes fishfinger, it seems that when you provide evidence of the thing that never happens actually happening you're met with silence. Every single time.

Fishfingersandwichnocheese · 05/03/2018 18:58

I do think it takes time to confront something you’ve previously believed and found it not to be true.
It took me a while.

thebewilderness · 05/03/2018 18:59

"Literally one of the most transphobic places on the internet. It's renowned for it, sadly"
You have quite clearly never met the men on the interwebs.

Valentinesfart · 05/03/2018 18:59

If "Allies" were happy to jump on the sane bandwagon and say that only genuine dysphoric individuals were "trans". These threads would be over mostly.

Please check this link. I know it is biased (obviously) but it's just links to crimes commited by men who have called themselves trans. There are a lot, and we need to talk about why.

I know most transexuals are as horrified by this trans activisit nonsense as the rest of us. They can't speak up because they want to keep their heads down, fair enough. But I'm not going to walk in to this with my eyes closed.

Actual transphobia, the dangeorus kind doesn't warrant comment. The truly frightening stuff is middle aged women discussing their rights on the internet in between making dinner.

RunRabbitRunRabbit · 05/03/2018 19:02

I don't care if some people are trans. I don't care if they are 'fake' trans or 'real'. I don't mind if some are nice people and some are awful.

I mind that we are making laws saying something false is true. A transwoman is not a woman, even with surgery. We should not have anti-fact, anti-science laws in the UK.

All this talk of toilets diverts us into subjective arguments about whether individuals are good or bad away from the main point that men are not women. They just aren't and everyone knows it.

stitchglitched · 05/03/2018 19:03

Not to mention violent criminal Tara Hudson whose PR campaign and misleading model type pictures led to much sympathy from the public who assumed she'd had a sex change and was transferred to a women's prison.

The reality is a tall, masculine individual who retains their '7 inch surprise.' Should a woman be forced to share their intimate space with this person?

If you think mn is strongly transphobic....
TERFragetteCity · 05/03/2018 19:04

I think as well, ANY dogma that unquestioningly sterilises children, needs to be blocked. If that makes me a transphobe, then bring it on.

PencilsInSpace · 05/03/2018 19:07

Hysteria

Men Will Rape You Anyway

Women Do It Too

You Agree With A Right Wing Person So You're Bad

You're Just Like Nazis / Apartheid (refreshing change from Jim Crow though)

Nobody Would Dream Of Pretending To Be Trans

It Never Happens

Butch Women Will Be Thrown Out Of Toilets

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ...

Somebody please do Bogus Suicide Stats so I can get bingo.

Aftershock15 · 05/03/2018 19:09

I don’t mind being called transphobic so long as the person calling me that is happy to be called realityphobic or sciencephobic.

Like HairyBalls I’m happy to live and let live, and think that people should be free to live without fear or discrimination just for presenting in a different way, but I will never accept that a man can be a woman or vice versa.

I personally feel that the GRA is a poor piece of legislation that was badly thought out (birth certificates record sex not gender and should not be amended) however it does at least provide some form of gatekeeping.

Being gender non conforming is great. The vast majority of people I know don’t fit gender stereotypes. They just are themselves with different likes and dislikes. They are however men or women and that can’t change.

OlennasWimple · 05/03/2018 19:12

I have very very occasionally (perhaps half a dozen times?) reported a post to MNHQ because I think it is offensive to trans people and does MN no favours at all. I can't link to these because they have been deleted.

Whether other people would consider them transphobic is debatable - offensive is not the same as phobic. They mostly fall into the second category of Button's list upthread

Bombardier25966 · 05/03/2018 19:13

The majority of MN posters are not transphobic, the problem is a small minority of posters that are allowed to take over every discussion on the subject and shout others down. The forum gets a bad name because of these people and the team's reluctance to deal with them.

TheGoldenBough · 05/03/2018 19:13

@Rumpledfaceskin

You do realise that the poster Truscum is a transsexual person, don't you?

And not the only one on here. And also not the only one on here who is also speaking out against self id.

Thisusernamethingistricky · 05/03/2018 19:29

If you don't believe that 'trans women are women' is that transphobic?

Lettucepray · 05/03/2018 19:30

I'm happy to be considered 'transphobic'.....at least those of us who see are trying to stop men getting easier access to female spaces, trying to have a world where my daughter can get changed without a man in the room or play rugby against other women and not the incredible fucking hulk!! My mum has dementia, she may in the future need somone to help her with her intimate care, she will want a woman to do this not an obvious male. And let's not even talk about the vile tra's who write atrocious things about women and their smelly vagina's, saggy boobs and threats of rape and violence. What do you 'trans fans' have to say about that??

LangCleg · 05/03/2018 19:36

I couldn't give a stuff if A N Other decides that it's transphobic of me to advocate for the rights of women.

Fin.

LifelongVaginaOwner · 05/03/2018 19:40

Mumsnetters are well-informed rather than 'transphobic' (however the fuckety fuck that's being defined). It's the knowledge that irritates the TRAs as they'd rather changes just got nodded through with no look at impacts.

lifechangesforever · 05/03/2018 19:42

I'm honestly shocked about how transphobia it is tbh.. I've stopped reading the threads.

All I ever think now is that I hope the majority of MN don't work in government departments, where they're trying to be inclusive of all.

LifelongVaginaOwner · 05/03/2018 19:44

All I ever think now is that I hope the majority of MN don't work in government departments, where they're trying to be inclusive of all.

You can't be 'inclusive of all' at all times no matter how worthy that may be. The Equality Act already acknowledges that. I'd hope anyone working in a government department had some knowledge of the law

poorbuthappy · 05/03/2018 19:44

So shocked that you reported them all and they were deleted?
Trans threads have the least deletions on them out of most of the topics!

Cos you can’t actually argue with biology. No matter what fucking colour your panties are.

lifechangesforever · 05/03/2018 19:45

And I'm also shocked at my post littered with spelling mistakes.. it's been a long day. Hmm

Maybe it is like someone else says and there's a select few who overtake every single thread?

I'm not saying there's a wrong or right here btw just that it seems a lot more 'concentrated' on MN
