This is for everyone who knows what has happened and wants to chat about what will come next

Spoilers Space

I think that a lot of the next one will be in Grimauld place.

Sirius' brother is the person who stole the Locket (idea pinched from a clever mate of mine)

Dumbledore ordered Sirius to 'do the deed' and Sirius is a triple agent

I still think Percy Weasly will turn out to be a 'good egg'

Another good idea stolen from someone else is that part of Vodermorts soul is held in Harry's scar!!!! Damn clever that I thought!!!

Spoiler for people who read from the bottom, so to speak!

Do you think Ginny and Harry will get married in the end?

I too don't think anyone is going to be resurrected, it would be too 'comforting' and I think that's what is so great about this saga.

I wonder of we haven't seen the last of Dumbledore, he'll some sort of ethereal appearance of have secured somekind of protection for Harry in his absence.

Snape bothers me too. I mean was Dumbledore really meant to get is so wrong.
There has got to be another reason why Dumbledore trusted him.

amynnixmum · 19/07/2005 09:45

I'm confused about Snape too. On one hand he and harry have always hated each other but then again he has helped save harry's life too.

Dumbledore says in HBP that since he is such an old and experineced wizard then he doesn't make many mistakes but that the ones he does make tend to be huge. Maybe that was a hint that by JK that he could have been wrong about Snape.

However Dumbledore also tells Harry that he must obey him no matter what when they go to get the horcrux even if that means leaving him to die. Maybe Dumbledore knew that at some stage in the fight against Voldermort that he would have to die in order for harry to be able to go on and kill Voldermort. Could have been another prophecy from Trelawny. Perhaps he had told Snape that he must not blow his cover no matter what - even if that meant Snape killing him.

fqueenzebra · 19/07/2005 09:51

As someone who only reads the spoilers & has no time to read the books...
what is a "horcrux"?

nerdgirl · 19/07/2005 11:06

Voldemort has created six Horcruxes (objects that are used to store a parts of a soul) which must be found and destroyed before Voldemort himself can be killed.

One such Horcrux was Riddle's diary that Harry destroyed back in The Chamber of Secrets.

I think Harry's scar as a horcrux fits in nicely with the prophesy. Remember, the prophesy pre-dates, and is infact responsible for, Voldemort's attack on Harry. The Horcrux could be Voldemort's idea of an insurance policy and would explain how Harry has survived this long and maybe even how he survived in the first place.

Don't forget the spoiler lines guys. There are some slow readers out there!!

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&*&

Finished it last night, and absolutely blubbed my heart out. I can't believe Dumbledore is dead. I felt so sad! Like a personal friend had died! I think we haven't seen the last of him though, he will make another appearance somehow. I also am not sure about Snape, can't decide whether he is good or bad. Felt slightly sorry for Malfoy when he was crying in the loo, and loved the Harry/Ginny thing. Wanted to see more of Neville, I really like Neville. Half of me hopes for a happy ending with either Sirius or Dumbledore being resurrected, and half of me wants it all to be really dark and grim because I just love reading a book where you should out loud "NO!" at certain points! I would also like to see the ghosts of Lily and James make another appearance too, that was my favourite bit in the 4th one where they came out of the wand in the graveyard.
Cannot WAIT for the last book now.

SleepyJess · 19/07/2005 11:26

I am a sad case.. I LOL when Hagrid sneezed and Harry thought he saw bogies fly into the potatoes Hagrid was peeling!! I have such childlike humour.. and was thinking 'hee hee.. DS (when I let him read it! ME FIRST!) will love that bit!'

Fennel · 19/07/2005 11:29

Dahlia I like Neville too.
I am rather hoping that Neville turns out to be the chosen one after all, and that he'll be the big hero in the last book, the one who kills Voldemort.

Nice theories amynnixmum - like it. Hmb's scar theory is v. good explanation but I get the feeling horcruxes have to be objects... maybe that's what she wants us to think, though?

alexsmum · 19/07/2005 11:41

$$$%^&&$£"""""""""&&&&&&&&&

ok- don't buy the harry as horcrux theory i don't think.can't give a definite reason why not it just seems unlikely. voldermort hasn't tried to stop harry being killed at all- in fact he has tried to kill lots of times.it just doesn't make sense to me.

dumbledore will be able to talk to harry in the next book via his portrait in the headmasters office, don't you think? the other portraits all talk so why not his?
i think sirius is definitely dead.as someone else said, it would be too nice and easy and comforting if he he were to reappear.
i have to keep thinking that snape is essentially one of the goodies....the alternative is just too grim for words...

alexsmum · 19/07/2005 11:42

my funniest bit was ...
u-no -poo!

made me lol! big kid that i am!!

SoupDragon · 19/07/2005 12:21

But Edam...

One of the horcruxes is supposed to be a snake. I think Dumbledore said it was difficult but you could put your soul into a living creature.

Voldemort has appeared to keep trying to kill Harry but has never succeded - odd for the most powerful dark wizard don't you think? Maybe he's making half arsed attempts to distract people?

milosmum · 19/07/2005 13:07

kind of agree with Edam with the whole Horcrux thing- itrs a great idea but after some thought..... Voldemort hasnt been able to kill harry because at first he wasnt strong enough and now as dumbledore said harry has the ability to love- which is the strongest magic of all- he just hasn t found a way to kill him yet........not sure but thats my take.... definatly think Regulus had the locket though! im reading back through them all now- just for some clues...

Aragon · 19/07/2005 13:10

Funniest bit was the "fairy" on top of the Weasly's christmas tree. "...only, Ron, Harry, Fred and George knew that the fairy on top of the christmas tree was, infact, a garden gnome which had bitten Fred on the leg as he pulled up carrots..... stupified, sprayed gold and stuffed into a gold coloured tutu it stood glowering down from the top of the tree with a bald head and hairy feet - the ugliest fairy ever seen".

Dahlia · 19/07/2005 13:13

i'd also like to see Neville's parents recover in the last book, but that's the soppiness coming out in me! Fennel, that would be a great ending, wouldn't it? But probably unlikely.

SoupDragon · 19/07/2005 13:13

It's little details like that (the fairy) that make the book good imo.

SoupDragon · 19/07/2005 13:15

.

Did LV curse Neville's parents? If so, isn't it true that when the caster of the curse dies, the curse is lifted? Like Dumbledore's freezing hex on Harry? The Longbottoms could recover then.

Aragon · 19/07/2005 13:24

Neville's parents were injured by the cruciatus curse (pain). This was cast by Bellatrix Lestrange - Draco's auntie.

SoupDragon · 19/07/2005 13:27

.

I'm sure they'll manage to kill off Bellatrix too.

Will it really be 2 years before the last book do you think?

lunavix · 19/07/2005 13:28

Think Harry being a horcrux is definatelya fantastic point, RAB is defiately sirius's brother.

Don't like the idea of neville being the one to kill voldemort, I know it was odds up the chosen one being harry or neville but it will be a bit of a letdown.

My thoughts at the moment are more how are they going to sexy up Ginny? In the first movies she was simply small and ginger and it didn't look like she was going to blossom into a siren!!!
nerdgirl · 19/07/2005 13:29

¸,ø¤º°°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°°º¤ø,¸

But the Longbottom's madness comes from the excruciating torture they had to endure, not from any lingering spell.

What if the horcrux is Harry's scar rather than Harry himself?

Also loved the fairy .

nerdgirl · 19/07/2005 13:30

I dunno about the 2 year wait Soupy. Isn't there a rumour that she wrote the end of book seven at the beginning and it's sitting in a bank vault somewhere?

Aragon · 19/07/2005 13:31

Hmm! Might treat myself to the deluxe edition. Loved that fairy illustration.

assumedname · 19/07/2005 13:42

Read the book, my thoughts are:

Dumbledore's turned into a phoenix, which Harry glimpsed at the funeral. It is, after all, the Order of the Phoenix. And who runs it? - Dumbledore.

Snape is working for Dumbledore - possibly relative?

When Snape hit Dumbledore with the curse, he knew it would only have a temporary effect - ie, the phoenix and Dumbledore will return later.

With Dumbledore seemingly out of the way, it leaves the coast clear for Voldemort to come out and show himself. Then Harry etc can fight him. While Dumbledore's still around, Voldemort's not going to come into the open, is he?

It's all part of Dumbledore's plan.

Oh, and don't forget the 'I'm Dumbledore's man through and through' bit from Harry. Previously, Dumbledore told Harry that he would never have truly left Hogwarts while someone still believed in him.

The other thing that I think will be important is the emphasis that JKR keeps placing on love being stronger than magic. Sure this is what will allow Harry to defeat Voldemort once and for all - not necessarily kill - but defeat. Maybe Voldemort will crumble away when Harry won't kill him. Fairly common theme from other 'magic' type books.

MrsDoolittle · 19/07/2005 13:42

Sorry, I don't buy the Harry as a Horcrux bit. I think that Voldemort would behave differently and not be trying to kill him - there is no doubt that he is trying to kill him.

I loved the bogey thing too. I have to admit there were quite a few times when I laughed out loud.
I love the Weasley brothers, they always make me laugh and the scene where they make fun of Harry and Ron peeling sprouts with a knives is really funny.

MrsDoolittle · 19/07/2005 13:44
