Spoiler The Potter Thread for those who have finished the book

This is for everyone who knows what has happened and wants to chat about what will come next

Spoilers Space

I think that a lot of the next one will be in Grimauld place.

Sirius' brother is the person who stole the Locket (idea pinched from a clever mate of mine)

Dumbledore ordered Sirius to 'do the deed' and Sirius is a triple agent

I still think Percy Weasly will turn out to be a 'good egg'

Another good idea stolen from someone else is that part of Vodermorts soul is held in Harry's scar!!!! Damn clever that I thought!!!

Spoiler for people who read from the bottom, so to speak!

I've just read books 3, 4, 5, and 6 in quick succession. Just wanted to say that I can't believe we have seen the last of Dumbledore as his demise happened too quickly. I am wondering if he will come back as a ghost or will talk to Harry through his portrait or similar. Harry doesn't seem well enough equipped to do what he has to do next without some support from a higher source: look at how unknowing he was when he and Dumbledore went off together to the cave. He doesn't stand a chance without some older and wiser help.

Also agree with anyone who said that Snape will prove good in the end. Dumbledore knew something that no-one else did - it was stated loads of times and loads of people knew he knew something, eg McGonagall, but didn't know what it was. That has to come out in book 7 and should vindicate Snape. But then, if he is a goodie, how could he have killed Dumbledore? Perhaps he didn't, or perhaps he did on Dumbledore's orders, because it is part of a trap for Voldemort.....

Have you seen here?

here

lunavix · 02/09/2005 21:06

A few thoughts

Still think RAB is sirius's brother. Could it be HE who has a past link with lily potter - therefore it was her who made the potion dumbledore drank in the cave? I don't know where this would lead us in the mystery but that's a link I see.

I'm sure Neville would pay a pivotal role, I'd like to say he's related to Harry - maybe through James' family. Therefore a home for Harry after book 7 (as they will make a recovery )

I still think the scar is a horcrux, if not what about the gryffindor sword? What happened to that????????????

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 21:27

Dumbledore said Voldemort hadn't got hold of the Gryffindor sword as it was safe in his office.

I can't believe how much some of you think about it! I don't mean that as a criticism, but I didn't even work out who RAB was and yet it is obvious now.

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 21:30

Nikkie your link didn't work but I see it is backing for my theory that we have not seen the last of Dumbledore. I just think he was written out too quickly IYSWIM. He is far too important for Harry's success to be written out like that. Plus, you were led to believe he had more to impart to Harry. He has to be back somehow in Book 7 IMO.

alexsmum · 02/09/2005 21:34

snape definitely has to be a goodie. don't you think that is what the argument was about between snape and dumbledore..dd was shouting' you have to do it' or words to that effect. snape had to do it to prevent malfoy doing it. once you have murdered someone your soul is torn in two- dd didn't want that to happen to malfoy, he wanted to preserve the intrinsic goodness.
dumbledore will surely be able to talk from his portrait?

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 22:42

Yes agree Alexsmum. Just the way Dumbledore kept Malfoy talking until Snape came suggests that Snape was pre-destined to kill (or "kill") Dumbledore. Snape is a goodie otherwise Dumbledore is a complete dupe and surely that can't be right?

nikkie · 02/09/2005 23:35

sorry thought it was too good to get link 1st time!
www.dumbledoreisnotdead.com

I have also seen the idea that RAB was ......Amelia Bones who apparently killed by V himself rather than the DE

alexsmum · 03/09/2005 09:56

been looking at that website and find it extraordinary that the text is different in the us edition to the british. so after being sure that dumbledore really was dead...now i'm not sure....ooohh the uncertainty of it all!

Lonelymum · 03/09/2005 10:05

Wow alexsmum, I have just read some of it too. That omission from the UK text is a bit of a giveaway I think.

I told you he can't be dead. I have headr rumours that JKR is going to have Voldemort win out at the end, but that is totally out of character with the other books where good basically triumphs over evil. She has such a massive following and her books are so influential I think it would be very wrong of her to allow evil to triumph over good in the last book. I am personally convinced that D is not dead and S is not bad and good will triumph eventually.

alexsmum · 03/09/2005 10:50

lonelymum, do you think if we pester her a lot she will hurry up and get the next book written???

munz · 03/09/2005 10:55

oooooooooh wonder why it's differnet for the US.

fuzzywuzzy · 03/09/2005 11:00

But wasn't it the fact that it was Snape who told Voldemort of the prophecy that led Voldemort to kill Lilly and James, the secret that only Dumbledor knew. Now obviously everyone knows as Harry found out and told them.
Personally I think Dumbledor will stay dead.

Lonelymum · 03/09/2005 13:19

Yes but Dumbledore says repeatedly that he trusts Snape and it is implied that he knows something about Snape that we do not. Either he was tricked (weak plot if that is the case) or there is more to come.

Alexsmum, it is exciting waiting for the next instalment isn't it? I have never been in this situation before!

nikkie · 03/09/2005 19:48

I am so HP obsessed at the mo!
As JKR has used no.7 throughout I would guess at 7/7/07 for the book coming out.
I think that there is a link between Snape telling dd something about the night L&J Potter died.

munz · 04/09/2005 09:25

so is there gonna be 10 books then or 7 does any one know?

alexsmum · 04/09/2005 10:15

jk is adamant that its only going to be 7. one for each year harry is at hogwarts, which is why i'm not so convinced that he will not return to school.

nikkie · 04/09/2005 19:23

The school will still be one of the best places for Harry to work from and also get help.
Dumbledores portrait or the pensieve?

sandeel · 04/09/2005 19:33

I don't believe for one minute that book & isn't already writeen and ready for the shelves.
I expect all 7 books have been written for along time and that delay the release date to increase the Harry Potter frenzy.

It's all about maximum profit and all that.

Don't believe snape is bad either.

ScrewballMuppet · 18/09/2005 01:24

Am on the very few last pages of the book hence staying up very late....but I don't want to finish it so thought would come and see if anyone had any thoughts on the book....and can see I'm not the only harry potter fan.

I reckon that the R.A.B is Albus Dumbledore. I think he has a first name he does not use or something like that perhaps and that it was a setup in a way that he knew he was going to die. It is late so haven't thought it through well but i'm sure theres some sense in there.
Really interesting thought about snape being a triple agent and it being planned.

The only thing annoyed about is that harry has ben able to turn his hand to everything except occlumency...I so wanted him to of mastered that to pry into peoples minds and know their thoughts and to of continued on with the visions of things.....maybe in the next book.
Can't believe she's not going to begin writing the next one till eary next year..

SoupDragon · 18/09/2005 09:35

He'd have to have a secret surname as well as a secret first name though - only the A matches!

ScrewballMuppet · 18/09/2005 12:31

Fair point soupdragon. I know this sounds sad but typed in rab and harry potter and this interview came up with JK Rowling which reads to me Regulus Black is a strong possibility.

ScrewballMuppet · 18/09/2005 12:32

Oops meant to put in the link for the interview

SoupDragon · 18/09/2005 13:19
