ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I am loving this thread! It's all so complicated isn't it! I am going to HAVE to read all the books again.
Been taking notes while reading this thread...
I believe Dumbledore is dead. I kept waiting for it all to be untrue but when I finished the book, I thought, no. I was so, so shocked (I didn't even know someone was going to die) so I think it's bloody good writing. Plus, as people have said here, it paves the way for Harry to be the real hero.
Although, I must say I have been wondering about the Neville Longbottom thing, there must be some reason why there are two possible heros. Harry being a horcrux therefore needing to die in order to destroy Voldemort - my mind went into knots when someone said "Harry can't do that [kill Voldemort] if he's dead himself, can he?" My initial thought was "EXACTLY!" Voldemort could have made Harry a horcrux, knowing that he was the one who had to kill Voldemort, in order to make it impossible to kill him.......does that make sense? If it does, it's unlikely I think that Harry is a horcrux, and anyway, is it right that Harry is the only person who can kill Voldemort?
I believe Snape is good. I'm not sure about Dumbledore/Snape conspiracy, I had been thinking Snape had made an unbreakable vow to Dumbledore to protect Harry.
Was v. interested when someone pointed out that it turned out he didn't know what Draco was meant to do - he pretended to Bellatrix etc that he did know, didn't he? Am wondering, if the person who has made the vow doesn't actually know what he's vowing, does the spell actually work?
Nevertheless, that doesn't matter because he (apparently) did obey the Unbreakable Vow.
I also think Draco will turn out good. Not sure about Percy Weasley, I have been expecting him to be evil but not sure now.
Lily/Snape - I like the idea that they had a fling, but suddenly wondered if it was the other way round, James stole her from Snape, hence Snape's hatred towards him, or towards them both. I had already been wondering if Harry was related to the Slytherins, at one point even directly to Voldemort but decided I too watch too much Star Wars (I am your father!) But there are a few references, aren't there, about how like James he looks, so quite possible James is part of the Slytherin line. Though I also like the Gryffindor vs Slytherin idea.
I guessed early on that Snape was the Half Blood Prince. Bit confused about the whole thing about the book being 50 years old, because why should that mean the Half Blood Prince wrote in it 50 years ago? Also the point that Harry would know Snape's writing is a good one too and I find it hard to believe that JKR would have slipped up on that one.
Fred Elliott as Slughorn, love it!
