This is for everyone who knows what has happened and wants to chat about what will come next

Spoilers Space

I think that a lot of the next one will be in Grimauld place.

Sirius' brother is the person who stole the Locket (idea pinched from a clever mate of mine)

Dumbledore ordered Sirius to 'do the deed' and Sirius is a triple agent

I still think Percy Weasly will turn out to be a 'good egg'

Another good idea stolen from someone else is that part of Vodermorts soul is held in Harry's scar!!!! Damn clever that I thought!!!

Spoiler for people who read from the bottom, so to speak!

sirius said in ootp

'he was murdered by voldermort.or on voldermorts orders more likely;i doubt Regulus was ever important enough to be killed by voldermort in person. From what i found out after he died,he got in so far ,then panicked about what he was being asked to do and tried to back out'

so i think it's possible rab is regulus don't you? maybe he was killed stealing the horcrux?

happymerryberries · 18/07/2005 18:15

The locket is in Grimauld place! It is mentioned on page 108 in the 'Order of the Phoenix', listed in all the things they have to clear up. It is mentioned in passing, a locket that no-one could open!!!!!

RAB has to be Regulus!

Just so enjoyed this book. Now re-reading it again. Agree that the locket is in Grimmauld Place - but is it among the stuff that Mundungus Fletcher has lifted from the place.

happymerryberries · 18/07/2005 18:35

Agree that Mundungus half inched it.....why else have that bit in the book?

milosmum · 18/07/2005 19:19

loved the Harry Scar idea!

cant believe this book- the next one is gonna be a scorcher! i actually had a tear in my eye at the end!

How cute are Ginny & Harry- bless-...... obviously Ron or Hermione have to die in the next one as i was reading a short interview in The Sun and she says the next book it Harrys Journey but along the way he will loose atlot of what he holds dear to him! -ouch-

think im going to read them all through now- just to c if there are any clues along the way!

happymerryberries · 18/07/2005 19:24

The scar idea wasn't mine, it is being discussed on the Times ed website.

just found this post which has made me think a bit!

'I think Harry is a horcrux. I believe that voledmort was going to make Lily a horcrux when he killed harry, but as she refused to let that happen, he killed her and made harry into a horcrux, knowing full well that everyone would think he tried to kill him, and would therefore protect him.
That's where the scar came from.
Also, in OotP, when harry sees the snake attack arthur weasley, dumbledore uses one of his little silver gizmos to see a snake and says "but in essence divided" i think he knew harry was a horcrux and was checking to see if the 2 souls were still seperate.'

I think this poster is spot on!

But this thread has Spoiler in the title, isn't that warning enough?

No HMB. What if you're looking under 'Last Day' or 'Last Hour' etc? You'll see the first line of the post!

I'm convinced there's some kind of Star Wars style thing going on with Dumbledore's death. Snape was committed to it by an Unbreakable Vow, which if he is still on the side of goodness, he would have told Dumbledore about. I can't get the image of Alec Guinness out of my head and the whole "if you strike me down I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine" speech at the end of Star Wars. Sad but true

Overall I felt the book was more about setting up the last one than a standalone story, perhaps not surprising at this stage of a seven book saga, although not true of the Narnia chronicle for example.

Harry and Ginny were great together, I found the Tonks and Lupin thing a bit left-field though. Imagine wolf babies with bright pink hair

Keep thinking of Tara and Willow now!!!

Linnet · 18/07/2005 22:59

I also think that R.A.B is Sirius' brother.
in Book 5 they were cleaning out a glass cabinet in Grimmauld place and there was a heavy Gold Locket that none of them could open, did Kreacher manage to sneak this away I wonder? Or did Mundungus get hold of it?

I thought Harry and Ginny were really sweet, agree that Ron and Hermione need to get themselves together.

I thought the Tonks and Lupin bit was sweet.

I don't think Sirius is really dead.

I'm not sure about Snape, is he a good guy, is he a bad guy, I can't decide.

I admit to crying when dumbldore died and during the funeral glad dh was at work he would have taken the pi**

Janh · 18/07/2005 23:06

DS1 is reading it at the moment and is getting more and more involved and excited - he just came down to say OOOOOH! it's so good! (he is 17!)

I don't mind getting spoilers because I've always felt, after reading one, that I need to read it again immediately to spot the bits I missed the first time - this way I'll know what to look out for

so just suppose harry's scar is a Horcrux does that mean he will have to kill himself as well as voldemort before Voldemort can be defeated once and for all. Beause 'neither can live while the other survives'

flamesparrow · 19/07/2005 08:00

!"£$$%&&()&%&^$%"£$!"£!£"W%

The whole Harry's scar thing keeps going round in my head... the whole "Neither can live while the other survives" is negated by the scar as Horcrux because surely Voldemort can ONLY live while Harry survives.

fairydust · 19/07/2005 08:07

when does book 7 comes out

flamesparrow · 19/07/2005 08:10

LOL - You're keen!

It was about 2 years between 5 and 6....

SoupDragon · 19/07/2005 08:20

Only just finished the book so only just reading this thread...

I think Harry is the last horcrux too. Nice idea about it being just his scar though. The "neither can live..." might be a misunderstanding. Not live as be alive but live as in "live their own life" IYSWIM.

Definitely have to go back and read thelast one and then this one again as there's lots I can't remember clearly enough.

MrsDoolittle · 19/07/2005 08:50

I finished the book last night.
I found myself wondering for ages about who RAB is, I think Sirius brother is a good one - I had windered if the B stood for black.
I thought the book was brilliant, I love the way the characters have developed with each book becoming older and smarter. Some excellent one-liners coming from Ron. I love the discussion about Aragog's funeral and they should they go.

I was also pleased to see Harry and Ginny get together, and very sorry to see Dumbledore die.

I think though, it does go to show how very talented JKRowling is. She has the guts to kill off Dumbledore, such an important character in the book and try something else for next time. I wonder how much harry will have to do with Hogwarts next time?

MrsDoolittle · 19/07/2005 08:53

Hiw about Snape as a Horcrux?

I definately don't like the idea of harry being a Horcrux.

flamesparrow · 19/07/2005 08:54

I keep coming back to Snape...

I just can't convince myself that he really is a baddie!

edam · 19/07/2005 09:00

Agree with Tribpot; that speech made me think of Aslan's death in Narnia.

Reassured by the idea of Snape as triple agent; hate to think Dumbledore was wrong to trust him.

The whole Potter series is a classic 'overcoming the monster' tale of adolescence growing into adulthood in the same style as Beowulf/fairy stories/first Narnia book//etc. etc. so surely Harry has to kill LV in the next book, and survive himself?

Don't think anyone is going to be resurrected, sorry. JK too sophisticated an author to give us the comforting tale we all want.

edam · 19/07/2005 09:01

p.s. I cried too...
