So here's the June challenge. Four weeks to lose 8lbs. I'm low carbing, but it doesn't matter what plan or diet you're following.

Who else is in?

OP posts:
Squidmission · 13/06/2010 17:11

Hi. Can I join please?
I know its a bit late and I won't lose 8lbs by the end of the month (would be v.v.lovely though!), but I'd like to try and lose as much as I can sensibly (fairly!) by the end of June.

I'm doing the 30 day shred dvd and am planning on following the Harcombe diet for 5 days for a kick start. I've done it before and found it very good.

Hi Squidmission

AvadaKedavra · 13/06/2010 18:25

OK I have just weighed in. When I restarted my weightloss on 5th June I weighed 15st 12, and now I weigh 15st 4lbs.

I've lost 8lbs 8 days.

Fecking hell!!

The only thing I have done differently than I normally would is that I have been drinking buckets of water and I have taken this natural supplement from Boots 3x a day after my meals.

I'm in shock.

thereistheball · 13/06/2010 18:43

That's brilliant - congratulations!

|Now do not do as I tend to do in these situations and think - I'm doing so well this tiny slab of cake won't hurt

justaminute · 13/06/2010 20:45

Blimey Avada - that's some weight loss - you've done the 8lb challenge in a week. Well done.

I've managed to avoid alcohol and biscuits all week (jaffa cakes aren't classified as biscuits are they?). The same can't be said of cake, chocolate and crisps but I've been much more restrained than normal - fingers crossed the scales are on my side for weigh in in the morning.

AvadaKedavra · 14/06/2010 08:51

I'm still in shock TITB, I will try not to, I am super focused right now only have another 5 days to go till the end of my mini challenge anyway as going away and simply NOT dieting then!

Thanks JAM and well done to you also

justaminute · 14/06/2010 09:09

3lb off. So very happy. The effect alcohol and biscuits have on my weight is truly frightening. Must stay strong this week too.

Plan for today.
B - juice & branflakes
L - open ham salad sandwich
D - squash tagine & couscous
snacks - satsumas, apple, melon

febes · 14/06/2010 10:25

Is it too late to join?? I have started a low carb thing. I have a 2.5yo and 1yo so haven't done anything in a while and have never been successful at dieting. I have been in the UK for nearly 10years and have put on 15kgs and 3 dress sizes since I got here. Never been skinny though and at nearly 6 ft I am aiming to get to 12 st and see how I feel. I think that would be quite good for my frame. I'm more than 18 st now so loads to lose but I'm 33 and need to do something. We go home to NZ in 6 months to live there again so it gives me lots of time to lose some of it.

Today I am having
2 egg omelette with smoked fish and cheese
beef stir fry
gammon steaks with salad

MiaWallace · 14/06/2010 10:44

I've a rubbish weekend with my diet.

Although I never intended to have a hen night my friends decided to give me a night out anyway. We went out for a lovely meal but I ate far too much. Then the following day we had Macdonalds for breakfast. Then yesterday we went to visit dp's family and had another big dinner. By the time I got home I had given the weekend up as a lost cause and had fish and chips .

My stomach is looking visibly bigger today. I am going to very low carbs for the rest of the week. I've had 3 boiled eggs and a litre of water for breakfast. Dreading my weigh in tomorrow, I've definatly put on weight since last week.

Well done on the weight loss Avada and justa minute. Welcome to squidmission and febes

AvadaKedavra · 14/06/2010 10:50

B: museli with as little semi skimmed milk as I could get away with
L: 2 boiled eggs, ryvita
D: tuna steak, wheat free pasta in tomato and mushroom sauce

DrSpechemin · 14/06/2010 12:04

Avada & justaminute - that's fab - you're
doing really well.

Welcome febes - never too late to start

I wouldn't worry too much about teh weekend Mia - you'll have so much adrenalin pumping round this week with wedding preps that you probably won't even feel hungry.

I will be dieting from afar and trying not too think too much about food - plan for today is

B: high fibre cereal, a few berries (am trying to eat less as I'm sure there is too much sugar in them)
L: rice cakes, philidelphia and an apple
D: chicken risotto.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/06/2010 13:53

Hello - please may I join in? I've been low-carbing for 3 weeks and had lost 11 poiunds in total. There was a debacle though on Saturday involving 2 bottles of wine, a chocolate cake and a chinese takeaway , so I've put 2lbs back on.

I can't do very low carb, it really upsets my stomach, but I'm aiming for good carbs during the day and then a proper low carb dinner. No booze except v.occasionally from now on.

Current weight 15st exactly, I would like to lose 6lbs by the end of this month.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/06/2010 13:59

poiunds?

pounds

AvadaKedavra · 14/06/2010 14:54

Welcome febes and Ali , good luck to you both

Ali I do lowish carbs as I can't sustain proper low carb, so I take brown rice, wheat free pasta, millet instead of couscous, sweet potato instead of normal and ryvita instead of bread. Works for me

febes · 14/06/2010 18:07

I am hungry and have been snacking loads but have stuck to low carb. I know I have to reduce amounts to get real results though.

Changed my mind about dinner having chicken breast with mozzeralla, pesto and wrapped in bacon. With salad (bread or pasta for DH). I'm very excited.

AvadaKedavra · 14/06/2010 19:27

Just writing up my plans for tomorrow as I am out first thing, (vets)

B: crispy grilled bacon on ryvita
L: HM sweet potato soup
D: as tonight, left overs, while making a lovely cheesy pasta dish for guests

Squidmission · 14/06/2010 20:04

Wow AvadaKedavra! Thats an amazing weightloss. I was so inspired I bought some of those herbal tablets too!

Today I had
porridge
tuna salad
yogurt
lamb kebabs

Tomorrow is the same for me.
I'm going to struggle this week as I'm out to eat 3 times! I'm going to try to stick to no carbs though.

I'm off to do my exercise dvd now.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/06/2010 20:11

febes that dinner sounds lovely!

I have had

B: one slice of toast with peanut butter
S: 4 finger Kitkat
L: salad, half a bread roll, cheese and a slice of corned beef
D: Salmon fillet with asparagus and v.small portion of potatoes, followed by strawberries.

Not sure what the plan is for tomorrow, same breakfast probably.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/06/2010 20:12

Oh I have exercised aswell - did Day 1 of the 30-day challenge on my EA sport for Wii.

LemonDifficult · 14/06/2010 20:49

Hello everyone. Wow, well done AK. I looked up those tablets but it seems your success has caused a run on them and they've sold out! I'll look in store.

I had a bit of a tricky end to last week with two meals out and then friend staying for two days with her new bloke. (I didn't fancy watching the World cup with water and apple boats, so wine and oven chips won. At least it wasn't the usual Pringles.)

Weigh in is tomorrow for me so I'll find out if things have gone really wrong. I'll be half way through our four weeks so I'll need to have done at least 4lbs to be on track... Made an enormous weeks-worth pan of ratatouille tonight to encourage me in healthy eating and to stop me from getting despondent whatever the results on the scales.

MiaWallace · 15/06/2010 07:26

I had a much better day yesterday

b - 3 boiled eggs
l - gammon
d - chicken wrapped in bacon and cheese

3 litres of water

I also did 30 day shread and 30 minutes on the spin bike.

febes · 15/06/2010 08:09

Morning! Started with bacon, egg and mushrooms this morning. One of our hens has been broody and has gone off the lay and just wants to sit on the nest all day. Hope she comes right soon.

Going to have prawn salad for lunch and moussaka for dinner. I hope I can keep my head out of the fridge more today.

AvadaKedavra · 15/06/2010 11:46

Hi all,

Breakfast: Special K and semi skimmed milk
Lunch: bit of sushi and some egg fried rice
Dinner: tuna and wheat free pasta

LemonDifficult · 15/06/2010 11:50

Whahoooooo! Not too bad at all. Stepped on the scales and have lost 4.5lbs in a fortnight despite the friends/booze combination at the end of last week. I am really pleased and reckon that 8lbs in 4 weeks is still achieveable.

Big thank you to this thread, everyone, I'm finding it great for keeping me on track.

shortandsweet2 · 15/06/2010 12:54
