So here's the June challenge. Four weeks to lose 8lbs. I'm low carbing, but it doesn't matter what plan or diet you're following.

Who else is in?

OP posts:
DrSpechemin · 06/06/2010 18:11

Today started off with wellmeaning intentions and haven't gone too far off plan.

B: berries and greek yog
L: salad, ham, new pots; strawbs and scoop of icecream
D: planning on having poached eggs, bacon, toast and beans.

In an emotional eating attack I did scoff two chocolate doughnuts and a chocolate penguin biscuit

thereistheball · 06/06/2010 21:29

Avada - the low-carb recipe thread

But glad you like them, I am looking forward to them!

thereistheball · 06/06/2010 21:33

Dr Spechemin - should I really spell your name Dr Spaceman?

Ignore the doughnuts, glug some water and don't let it derail you....

DrSpechemin · 06/06/2010 22:18

Yes - I am really Dr Spaceman but that nickname was already taken although I have never seen it being used.

Have done well to get back on track this evening and managed to resist any other 'goodies'.

I'm looking forward to getting back into the routine of walking to school again as I'm sure that'll help with losing the odd pound.

giraffesCANdriveAcar · 07/06/2010 06:20

Hello all. Room for one more? Been on my diet a couple of days and thought maybe joining in a thread might help. My biggest downfall is eating in the evening when alone, I need to learn to DO something in the eve rather than sit and eat.

Got friends wedding soon, I'm an usher, have a dress (pic on profile - the black one) It fits but would fit much better if I lost a bit.

DrS I think its important not to dwell on the doughnuts and penguin - Ive got stuck on that in the past, and think oh Ive messed up so might as well sod it and eat the lot.

Going to toddler group this morning, trying to decide if I should have a biccie when there. Sadly I think I shouldnt as in the past I have done better when I cut all crap out - am not good at stopping at one.

Ginnielynnie welcome to MN

AvadaKedavra · 07/06/2010 07:53

Giraffes - MNing?!? Or ummm..... knitting, you could make a lovely set of mittens or something...

That dress is gorgeous, where's it from?

Plans for today:

B: fruit and yogurt
Snack: apple
Lunch: lo HM curry/rice
Snack: banana
Dinner: wheat free pasta and hm meatballs in tomato sauce

MiaWallace · 07/06/2010 08:05

Love your black dress giraffes. The purple one is gorgeous too.

I stuck to the diet again yesterday

breakfast - roast chicken
lunch - chicken and smoked sausage
dinner- gammon steak and two fried eggs.

I'm concerned about my lack of appitite and I'm really craving some veg so I'm going to slowly start introducing some more carbs today.

Only 12 days till I get married!!! Bought some higher power spanx and they are amazing. They make me look at least half a stone lighter so not feeling so worried about wearing my wedding dress now.

DrSpechemin · 07/06/2010 11:10

How exciting Mia - The countdown has already begun!!! What type of wedding are you having?

I've managed to forget about the doughnuts and have planned the following for today:

B: Berries and greek yog
L: Tuna salad pitta bread, grapes for pudding.
D: Not sure yet - probably fish and new pots.

I have also decided to stop drinking during the week as it's just wasted calories - even though I only had a vodka and diet lemonade so wasn't much - every little bit will make a difference

AvadaKedavra · 07/06/2010 11:41

Mia, could lack of appetite be attributed to nerves/stress/excitement maybe?

Doc (may I call you Doc? I hope so!) it's not the alcohol calories per se for me, it's the lack of willpower when imbibing and the naughty things it leads to me eating like pizza, kebabs, choc etc

LemonDifficult · 07/06/2010 13:34

Me too, AK, it's not the alcohol units (I'm far too much of a lightweight for them to add up to much) - it's the 'yes, please, I'd love some Kettle Chips and dip' once I've had a glass.

Stood on scales today and have lost 3.8lbs in a week! Very excited about it.

AvadaKedavra · 07/06/2010 13:49

Well done! that means you have less than 2 stone to go now, I bet that feels good

MiaWallace · 07/06/2010 14:30

DrSpechemin, the wedding is very low key. I hate being centre of attention so it's only family and close friends. 30 people in total.

I'm sure the wedding is contributing to my lack of appetite. I'm making an effort to increase my calories today but with healthy food. I don't want to get ill before the wedding because of how little I've been eating.

AvadaKedavra · 07/06/2010 14:51

We had a small wedding and it was lovely have you a honeymoon booked?

DrSpechemin · 07/06/2010 15:13

That sound lovely Mia - yes make sure you eat enough - you'll need lots of energy to get you through the day.

3.8lbs in a week - that's brilliant LemonDifficult - did you think you'd done that well? See if you can replicate what you did and you may well get just as good results next week.

Avadakedavra - you can call me Doc - although I am most definitely not a doctor - I sometimes feel the need to add a disclaimer when I'm posting on health topics

AvadaKedavra · 07/06/2010 17:57

Please feel free to address me in the short too then I know it's a pain typing it out!

My dinner has changed to tuna instead of meatballs as I forgot to get the beef out of the chestfreezer grrr.

FluffyDonkey · 07/06/2010 18:13

Hello all

You're all doing so well! Very impressed.

Was away over the weekend but was (mostly) good. Not doing any diet in particular, just stopping snacking between meals, cutting down portions, no more desserts and only drinking water.

No effect seen as yet (since Thursday) but am hoping that if I keep it up for the next 3 weeks I'll lose a few pounds in time for the wedding

Mia - you sound like me! Also a small wedding (30 guests) cos neither I nor future DH like being the centre of attention.

Todays food :
B - cereal (not sugared, but cannot give that up)
L - vegetable pasta
D - banana, prunes

Also planning on 30 minutes in the gym.

Am really wanting some chocolate though

AvadaKedavra · 07/06/2010 19:01

Fluffydonkey, am no expert but just prunes and banana for dinner? Tis not enough [waggy finger]

DrSpechemin · 07/06/2010 19:34

Dinner has changed to include pasta - but with king prawns. So reasonably low cal.

Lunch turned into a ham pitta with large green side salad, low fat crips and grapes.

When I was shopping earlier I managed to walk past a whole fridge full of discounted choux buns/chocolate eclairs etc - normally I would buy some for pudding but managed to stop myself No idea where the willpower came from

MiaWallace · 07/06/2010 20:08

Avada we are going to the lakes for a week. We will be staying here.

Fluffydonkey even with 30 people I'm still really nervous about everyone looking at me and dp feels the same. Are you all ready for your big day?

I fell off the wagon today. In an attempt to introduce a few more calories and carbs I went overboard and gave into my cravings.

Breakfast - protein shake made with soya milk
Lunch - Two chicken breasts.
Dinner - Tuna salad. Berries and yogurt.

Falling off the wagon - bar of dairy milk and one glass of wine.

Tomorrow will be my weekly weigh in. Hope I haven't done too much damage.

Keep up the good work everyone.

LemonDifficult · 07/06/2010 20:11

Everyone had fish and chips for supper....but not me. Super-proud of myself. I even went to the chippy to get it for them (it did smell delicious). Today the force is strong! WeightWatchers fish pie instead.

I wasn't expecting to have lost 3.8lbs this week but I think I was quite, er, 'watery' (water heavy? water retentive?!) when I weighed myself at the start so maybe that was it. I don't want to let it slide now as I'm feeling excited about getting back into some of the 'nice' clothes in my wardrobe. Reckon I'll need to lose at lease 10lbs before it's even worth me trying them on.

LemonDifficult · 07/06/2010 20:14

Mia - you'll be fine. I reckon the dairy milk will have been needed to fuel the extreme nerves of a bride-to-be just before her wedding. Good luck for the weigh-in tomorrow

AvadaKedavra · 07/06/2010 22:11

I'm so jealous Mia, that looks just perfect Good luck for weigh in tomorrow.

LD - that's some willpower you have there, the smell omg...
I am having a bread craving after watching Mary Queen of Shops just as well we don't even buy it anymore!

74claire · 07/06/2010 22:25

may I join in?

I'd lost four stone over a couple of years and with some ill health and stuff, have put on a stone over the last four months.

need to get exercising again and drinking water .. . once the routine's back, I hope to get it shifting. I threw out all the large clothes, so I'd best get it sorted!

MiaWallace · 08/06/2010 07:15

Lemondifficult, that's extreme will power. I don't think I could resist fish and chips if I smelt them.

Avada I used to eat huge amount of bread -Toast, sandwiches, bread and butter with my dinner. I haven't eaten any in almost a month but I know just one little bite and I would devour a loaf.

Claire welcome to the thread. 4 stone is an amazing loss. I'm sure you will drop the stone easy if you had the will power to lose 4 and keep most of it off.

Weighed in this morning and I'm down another pound. Seems like my body needed the extra calories to get out of starvation mode and start dropping some more weight. Gives me a 4lb weight loss for this week.

shortandsweet2 · 08/06/2010 07:45

Morning ladies - you are all doing fantastic.

Well still on slimfast but have been put weight on instead of losing it. I migh change it to once a day rather than 2 and see if that does anything. I have bought loads so have to use it up.

I also had a really bad back and not even pain killers are working so not much exercise either.

Good luck ladies
