Poohbearsmom · 29/06/2010 18:57

Lol at only me allowed to expand
pretty RESIST the sweets!
Trimmer i really hope this is the one what kind of job is it? Are you still going doing the teaching assistant training? I think id like to do that someday...

prettybird · 29/06/2010 19:01

I've been doing Pilates for 10.5 years (can time it because I started just before I found out I was pregant with ds - my teacher only let me continue 'cos I showed her other stuff I was used to doing and she was confident that I "knew" my body).

Not sure about the "losing inches" (although now that I am doing it more often than the weekly class, it might.....) but it does keep my (aging) body flexible and I give it total credit for ensuring that I don't have any stress incontinence (TMI ) as a result of the damage that ds did to my pelvic floor (some of the muscles are now pratically non existent, but the others are strong enough to "take up the slack" as it were ). Pilates can tone your muscles (my arms are aching as a result of using the ring, for example) - but 'cos it's not aerobic, won't do much about the fat above the muscle

I'm planning on continuing the Pilates while we are on holiday, plus plenty of swimming. It's too hot and the hotel is at the top of a hill so any route involves a climb, plus my achilles tendons are crying out for a recovery period....

I know I'll swim, but we'll see if the Pilates actually happens.....

I'd love to be your virtual running partner. I'm trying to build up again gradually but given the pain tenderness I am already suffering from, don't think I will get above the just under 3 miles that I am doing at the moment. No 10k runs yet - let alone a half marathon I'll wait until I am not having to lug around so much extra weight before I think about them!

prettybird · 29/06/2010 19:19

PBM - I did resist the sweets - don't even know what they bought!

However, I have licked out the condensed milk tin that I used to make icecream I'm making my Mum's Mum's special ice cream (dead easy: condensed milk, cream, milk, egg, vanilla essence, beaten, frozen, beaten again, frozen again) for dh's birthday meal tonight - to be served with the first strawberries from the garden

bebejones · 29/06/2010 22:06

Am home from my mums (a day early). Haven't weighed yet, will do it in the morning! Still feeling really rubbish & low. Had to come home early coz I was worried that if my feet got worse I'd struggle to drive! Usually get most of the flare ups in my left hand so finding this really annoying. Just desperately hoping it gets better & doesn't develop into a full blown relapse At least I'm back in the West of the country where it's cooler, hoping it helps!

Right, enough of my whinging!

Well done to everyone who lost this week!

Trimmer - got my fingers crossed for you on the job front!

Blondes - Can totally see how you could gain 14lbs in a week!

PBM - it'll go quicker than you think! Rememeber to keep us updated!!

Piste - sure your DS is fine!

Murtette - salad definately the way to go in this weather! Glad the 'plan' is working!

Pretty - that ice cream sounds yummy! I love icecream but have never made it, maybe I should give it a go!

Had so many plans for stuff to do now that I have finished all the sewing for my mum just hoping that the stupid MS doesn't get in the way!! DD & I were going to go strawberry picking next week, but if I can't drive (or walk) we won't be able to! Trying to stay positive, but it's not easy!

OP posts:
Murtette · 29/06/2010 22:44

Bebe - you're allowed to whinge! One of my friends has MS so I know how unexpected and restricting flare ups can be. Fingers crossed that it will ease off. The doctors must be pleased with you for having lost so much weight because that must make a difference.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/06/2010 23:47

farewell my once fatty and now skinny friends!!!

be good and someone email me the new thread or i wont be able to find you and lose my blubber from hols

bebejones · 30/06/2010 10:04

Bye bye Blondes, have a lovely time!

Am trying to take it easy, got my feet up, taken some ibuprofen drinking lots of water. Think all the stress & running around for the last few days has counteracted the badness as I am back to 11st 1lb!

So Blondes and Laughalot are on hols and Lucky them!

Bebe - hope you can rest up a bit and the flare up will calm right down again.

Murtette - DD breaks up for the summer next Friday, me and DS the following week. I cannot believe this year is over! Next year they will be at the same school again, which I really like, and term for them starts on September 1st, so its a long break. I love them not being at school, DD especially works very hard and pushes herself in both academics and sport, and it is so nice to see her unwind and just be!

Prettybird - you are amazing with all your running and Pilates, you put me to shame!

PBM - What is your due date?

GT - Fingers and everything else firmly crossed on the job application front. Make sure you proof read it for spelling and grammar if it?s that sort of form!!

When I am rational, I know DS is having a blast on the Isle of Wight, but he is our baby and I am pining! Pathetic I know. With DD she is so independent and already has great plans for travelling the world as soon as she is old enough, she wants to go to Uni in the States, and on and on. The moment she can, she?ll be off into the world! DS on the other hand is such a snuggly home-bird, maybe that?s why it?s so weird him not being here.

Kitchen is done, builders have done an excellent job, and I am in the throes of putting stuff back and being ruthless in sorting stuff out. I am absolutely delighted I must say. Last Sunday to Christen the oven, DS and I made profiteroles
< preens>
which were gorgeous, and completely impossible in the old oven. It was heavenly to actually be able to do something/anything!

I bought some lovely size 12 tops and a skirt in White Stuff courtesy of DH, as needed to go to New Parents? Evening for DS and didn?t want to go in dodgy stuff, it was so nice just choosing gorgeous clothes, and knowing that sizewise I could have had anything.....

Let us promise ourselves never go back to being BIG
Agreed?!

Keep going everyone!

GettinTrimmer · 30/06/2010 12:00

piste Absolutely agreed. I can tell you're a teacher

There's another job I've seen as an LSA in the same school only 5 hours a week, I'm just about to look at the job ad more carefully and ring up for an application form.

Snap, my ds is a home bird, he hated having to stay at school until 7pm on Friday, they had a summer camp, the year 3s stayed for tea the year 4s stayed all night. Said he tried to be naughty so he'd be sent home. I said "what did you do?" and he said he was talking while the teacher was talking. He got through it, but there was sports day on the same day and after 10 hours it was too much for him although many other year 3 children were fine.

Anyway, I'm rambling now!

bebe a big well done from me for sts. Take it easy

blondes we'll miss you while you're gone and I'll make sure you know where the new thread is.

prettybird I am not doing too well on the exercise front this week, and have people coming for cups of tea this pm. Kick up the bum needed for tomorrow! Are you running today and tomorrow?

Right, I am going to have a really good couple of days, foodfocusing with 1400 calories, Friday will be a write off as it's my birthday. Dc also off school, we are going to see Shrek the Fourth in 3D after having lunch in a nice country pub. Can't wait

prettybird · 30/06/2010 15:36

I did my 3(-) mile run again this morning (where is the icon for ).

Still taking it very easy as my achilles tendons are complaining - but without trying, was nearly 2 minutes faster than Monday and a minute and a hlaf faster than Sunday

The good thing is that my achilles tendons aren't getting worse - so I think I'm OK to go on running this week and then have a couple of weeks off.

Yesterday ended up being 1780 calories - it was always going to be tough with it being dh's birthday (so two glasses of a nice bubbly and two glasses of a good red wine made a hefty contribution to the total ) - but after my run and Pilates this morning, I was still 13 stone dead

Trimmer - here is a kick up the backside () 8 . I'm going out again tomorrow: I'll have to go ut early(ish) again, as I have a hair appointment at 11. I'll then have Friday "off" (don't want to spoil aforementioned hair ) and then one last run on Saturday before going off to Greece Sunday morning By 2pm I'll be swimming in the hotel pool

I'll post my weight again after my run on Saturday - hopefully, it will be under the 13stone mark.

RatherBeOnThePiste: I solemnly swear that I will never be as big again However, last time I crept over 11 stone - and not actually that far - and managed to lose it, I swore I would never have a weight that had 4 digits again (ie I'd never go to 10stone 10lb or above)..... but this time, with your lot's support, once I've achieved it, I will maintain it!

prettybird · 30/06/2010 15:39

Forgot to mention RatherBeOnThePiste - congratulations on the size 12 tops! I'm sure you look fab in them

Murtette · 30/06/2010 22:11

Kick me someone - since supper (which was being pasta with loads and loads of veg and no cheese) I have eaten 1/4 of a tub of Haagen Daas and 4 biscuits, in both cases, just to "tidy up"! Why I couldn't have just put them in the freezer/cupboard, I'm not sure!

prettybird · 30/06/2010 22:19

__() 8

Consider yourself kicked!

prettybird · 30/06/2010 22:54

Murtette - have you stepped away from the ice cream?

GettinTrimmer · 01/07/2010 09:09

morning all

murtette just get back to it today These things happen, evenings are the most challenging time.

I have been watching The Biggest Loser USA on sky tv, amazing how much weight the people have lost, it just keeps me away from the snacks.

pretty I am going to do my dvd today and go for a short uphill run. It's just so humid here. Is it still that bit cooler in Glasgow?

Are you close to Loch Lomond?

I am pleased with myself, stuck to 1400 calories yesterday according to foodfocus. Same again today.

GettinTrimmer · 01/07/2010 09:10

bebe Hope you are feeling a bit better and rested today.

bebejones · 01/07/2010 10:00

Still feeling rubbish here, think it is actually getting worse Probably means I'll end up having 3 days of IV steroids & unable to walk properly. Seriously pissed off, stupid MS!

Less than 6 weeks til DD's 2nd Birthday, I'd best not still be ill by then, I will be so cross! This stupid illness keeps getting in the way!!!

Anyway, winge over!

Murtette - step away from the Haagan Daas! I used to quite easily polish off a tub of the stuff in a sitting no wonder I was the size I was! It is SO yummy!!

Trimmer - humid here today too, although apparently it is going to rain all day 2moro! So happy!!! I love all those extreme dieting/weight loss/lifestyle programmes, can't watch them when DH is around as he just gets cross!

Pretty - very impressed with all your running/exercise, can you send some of your energy/enthusiasm my way plese?!

OP posts:
prettybird · 01/07/2010 15:00

Hope you feel better soon bebejones

Gettintrimmer - have you done your dvd and run yet?

I did another 3 (-) miles today, followed by 40 minutes Pilates. (BTW - it's not that impressive doing both - I am using the Pilates as a cheat's way of stretching and warming donw - my aging muscles need all the stretching that can get ) before going off for my hair cut.

Weather in Glasgow was warmer yesterday and today it was raining. I'm nowhere near Loch Lomond - I live on the South side of Glasgow.

Murtette · 01/07/2010 16:14

Thanks for the kicking! I woke up this morning feeling really heavy (iykwim) and have been bloated all day so hopefully that will teach me to stay away from such naughty things.

Pretty - whatever you say, I am impressed. I've not done much today but went to the gym yesterday and am going again tomorrow. The good thing about going during the day is that I have to pay for the creche in advance and I'm too tight not to go once I've paid for her!

Bebe - how long do your bouts usually last? I'm sure you'll be fine by DD's bday. How are you planning on celebrating?

bebejones · 01/07/2010 16:59

Jealous of anyone with rain! Please send some south!

Pretty - I am still impressed, even if it isn't alot it sounds it!

Murtette - depends how bad the relapse is, sometimes they can last weeks and weeks. When I was diagnosed I had a relapse that made me completely lose all feeling in my left arm. It sort of built up slowly and spread from just my fingertips right up to my shoulder. They say it takes as long to get better as it does to get to its worst point! Complete PITA!! Trying not to let it get to me, but can't help thinking the worst! It is in the hands of my doctors/specialists now so we shall see what they decide it is!!

Pizza and salad for dinner tonight, shall try to make it more salad than pizza though! Got a Solero to look forward to for later...only 99cals!

OP posts:
GettinTrimmer · 01/07/2010 20:01

pretty I just did the dvd and a short run (very short!). The dvd is probably the hardest exercise I've ever done, 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels. Doesn't sound much, 20 minutes long, but it's sooo hard.

bebe hope it rains where you are but not where I am! Dcs have an inset day, dh day off and it's my birthday so we are going out for lunch. Don't rate my chances very much if we're going to ASK, I can't resist tiramisu.

Take care, hope you are getting some rest. Do you have an appt to see your specialist?

prettybird · 01/07/2010 20:44

Gettingtrimmer - well done on doing the DVD BTW - do you have an American Express card: iirc, there is an offer this month with Ask. If it's not them, then it'll be a double Nectar points (redemption?) that I am thinking about.

Enjoy the tiramisu - but give half to your dh....

I've jsut had a couple of scoops of my mum's special recipe icecream, together with some reaspberries and wild strawberries from the garden. Well worth the 169 calories! Still only at 1473 for the day - so doing OK

Dh spotted me limping 'cos of my sore achilles tendons. He doesn't think I shold run on Saturday and give the running a rest until we get back. I'll see what weight I am on Saturday morning beofre my planned run!

He did also say he liked my new hair cut - but said it would look better once I had lost my 3 stone (Actually, he's right - it 's a very short cut with an asymmetric fringe, which would really show off my good cheekbones - if I didn't currently have a chubby face )

Bebejones - it's been sunny since lunch time, although there are still threatening clouds around. I really should get outside and water in the nemotodes that I've got, before I go off on holiday.

GettinTrimmer · 02/07/2010 10:25

pretty ASK it is then if we get double nectar points!

I have just been running, it is cooler here today. My pedometer says the route I did is 2.3 miles, I need to step it up if I am to get below 11 stone.

Remind me what day you leave for Greece.

Your haircut sounds great. A lot of people have commented that my face looks quite a bit slimmer now I've lost weight but my hair sticks out all over the place if I have it in a short bob!

bebe Is it cooler for you today where you are?

PBM How are you doing?

Hi to everyone else. Just notice 974 messages. I will come back and start a new thread later but got to dash to ASDA now, that's my birthday treat

bebejones · 02/07/2010 10:36

Happy Birthday Trimmer!!! Have a piece of cake

Loads cooler today here after the rain all night! Still waiting to hear from any of the specialist though!

PBM - how you feeling?
