Nice new home for us now that March is over!

Trimmer/Blondes - would love a loss next week but sadly am going to my mums on Friday so doubt it very much!!

Just shared a banana & yoghurt smoothie with DD, just added it all up on FF and it was about 370 calories! There was me thinking it was nice and healthy, guess it was the yoghurt that did it!

Have bought some Covent Garden Soup to try later, Melon Gazpacho at 101 cals a portion it's def worth a try!! Here's hoping it's not as gross as it sounds!

Must go make our picnic. Trying to encourage DD to eat more by making meals fun!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/06/2010 14:43

Melon Gazpacho hope it is nice!

It is so gorgeously hot here today, but am a bit worried because DD is at an all day athletics competition with the school. She was so excited because she was allowed to go in today in her tracksuit and kit and leave the blazer behind!! I gave her loads of water and suncream, but I think she will have cooked.

Blondes - glad your kitchen is done, ours is nearly done too, they are onto the final bits, but it does look amazing and so bright. It has french doors on two sides, at the end they take up most of the wall, then on the side they take up a quarter possibly. It feels entirely different.

The builders have been very nice but I still shall enjoy waving them off and moving us back in!

bebe - I'd love to come on your picnic, bet you have loads of lovely nosh, and I'm starving!

SordidSucker · 22/06/2010 15:53

Hiya everyone. Is it too late in the year to join? I need a bit of motivation.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/06/2010 16:16

Sordidsucker. Welcome. Add your name to bottom of te list

melon soup? YUCK!!!

I have obv made the sun come out now I'm going on holiday

I'm cooking in jeans

hope sports day went well and not to burnt/dehydrated

I'm having a bad week. After yesterdays party then today at tumbletots the malteasers in the vending machine spoke to me and said EAT ME

so I did

'hangs head in shame'

oldest two are at tennis and babs and I are in the park

bebejones · 22/06/2010 18:20

Melon soup....disgusting!!! Couldn't even finish the bowl!! YUK! Won't be buying that again!

Will be back later after I have bathed the monster & put it to bed!

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/06/2010 19:11

Bebe darling.... We did try and warn you off the melon soup!

GettinTrimmer · 22/06/2010 21:00

So was it cold tomatoey soup with a twang of melon? What an interesting combination.

I bet that other homemade soup was lush.

sordidsucker welcome! How are you doing yours? ww/sw/low carbing/healthy eating ?

Stick with us, we have fallings on and off the wagon but we are getting there!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/06/2010 22:07

BEBE what did you expect? melon isnt soup - you dont get get fruit soup - veg or meat only!!

bebejones · 23/06/2010 07:41

Well it was Melon with tomato & cucumber, maybe I should have warmed it.

welcome sordidsucker! Add yourself on to the list & climb aboard the wagon!

Blondes - malteasers aren't that bad...they are after all the 'lighter way to eat chocolate'! And the party was just one day. Being so good the rest of the time I'm sure they won't have much of an effect!

Piste - hope your DD didn't get too burnt/dehydrated! Exciting bout the kitchen, sounds lovely!

Toddler group this morning, hope she isn't too much of a monster, we have left early the last 3 weeks coz she had a tantrum and music time!!

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/06/2010 08:11

welcome sordidsucker, put yourself on the list. If you stick with us amazing things will happen to you!!

DD coped very well with the conditions yesterday and did well athletically and also managed not to burn or die of dehydration. Today it is an all day rounders tournament, so she's gone of with the kit again! Tomorrow afternoon she's going to Wimbledon, then on Friday it's the school Sports Day. Lots of sun! Thank God she is sensible at looking after herself!

The moral is Blondes don't listen to bad vending machines! BUT.... I looovvee Malteser's - have you tried the malteser lolly thing? Yum.

Waves to everyone else... DS Sports Day today, last Primary one, so the last time of throwing beanbags into hoops. [yawn] Thought I'd feel nostalgic, but really not at the moment!

GettinTrimmer · 23/06/2010 09:47

piste we have sports day on Friday, 3 hours of it. Agree with your [yawn]. No tea or coffee, at least I've learnt to stock up with a flask.

Congrats to your dd on her athletic success.

bebe Sounds like your dd is in the swing of the terrible twos!

We have the furious fives

My age 5 dd got it into her head that she had to take her soft toy horse into school. She defied me and got it in the car, holding on to it with an iron grip. We were in a hurry and had to go. My patience levels weren't brilliant by the time we got out of the car and whipped it out of her arms when she loosened her grip (wrong way to deal with it, I'm cringing!). She cried and cried, it was just so important to her that she took this toy in. Had to go into the classroom and ask the teacher to tell her how they get lost, but she can bring it in tomorrow as part of an 'experts' session on how animals talk if in a labelled bag. Wasn't happy with that, nothing else would do.

I feel bad for not dealing with it that well, she wouldn't have been so upset. Sorry for going on a bit, just wanted to get that off my chest!

I remember once we had cold soup in France, dh wasn't impressed, but I quite liked it, was a creamy corgette thingy.

blondes Maltesers are OKish. A twix would have been worse!

bebejones · 23/06/2010 11:23

Or a snickers!! Mmmmmmmmmmmm Snickers!!

Trimmer - poor you & poor DD, everyone at playgroup was saying how awful & whingy their DCs are at the moment, must be the hot weather!

I like normal gazpacho & had hoped (it being covent garden soup) that it would be nice & the melon would add a sort of 'lightness' and fresh summeryness! I was wrong!!

Going to pub later to watch football, hoping to avoid chips & bar snacks...wish me luck!

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/06/2010 13:00

Have sizzled at sports day - only 2 hours of it.

DD's senior school sports day is on Friday between 2 and 8!!

I am not planning to go to the whole thing! Last year I went for too long and still only saw 1 of her 3 events!

It's like
Boys U18 100m GirlsU18 100m
Boys U16 100m GirlsU16 100m
Boys U15 100m GirlsU15 100m
all the way down to U12s

and so on ad infinitum, think all track and field events for all year groups plus relays! But it is a very big House competition that last year her House won, and towards the end it got very exciting on the points front! So I shall go along at about 6pm and catch the end!

Haven't had a Snickers for ages, my chocolate joy would be a Twirl I think.

bebejones · 23/06/2010 13:08

Or a Boost, I'd lurve a Boost!! Although in this heat a Snickers ice cream would go down a treat. I craved them whilst PG but couldn't have them coz of the peanuts!

of your DDs sports day, we never did anything like that at my school. It was always boring old sack races etc. until yr9 then in year 10 & 11 you had to 'help' Swimming was a different matter though, twas really competitive!

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/06/2010 14:13

I don't know what a boost is

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/06/2010 14:14

TRIMMER dont beat yourself up - i would have done the same,ie ripped from dd arms toys dont go/not allowed at our school

glad no one was burnt to a crisp, tho very sunnt today!!

shall i mention that i had 2 bags of malteases

you have sports days early - ours are 13 and 14th july - the day after i come back from holiday s0 better be brown

nursery is in major training when i picked up at lunchtime - and of course the mummys race is dog eat dog, some get really competitive

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/06/2010 14:22

I think we might break up earlier Blondes - DD finishes on Friday 9th July, so 13th would be too late!!

Parents race today v competitive, blimey. I don't run, had Dh been there he would have run, but they take it so seriously. Cor

I have a friend who trained in her younger days as a heptathlete, so was incredibly fit and fast. Her sons asked her to wear her spikes to their Infant Sports Day!!! She obviously didn't but said when it got to the Mum's 100m she had to be careful that she didn't win by an embarrassing margin, just enough but no more. She was in danger of finishing as they were crossing the start line! LOL

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/06/2010 14:31

would the school be private? our local ones break up 2nd july and 7th

where as we break up 23rd july but from sept i will have 2 diff holidays, not sure how no 2 will take going to school when his older sister will be on holidays

GettinTrimmer · 23/06/2010 15:54

We're the same Blondes, break up on 23rd July.

My friend's dc are private, I know they break up earlier.

piste I seem to remember a Cadbury's boost is chocolate on the outside, biscuit layer, then a gooey bit in the middle. Yum!

I didn't mention that I have my size 12 3/4 length jeans on, with a nice muffin overhang. But I can get them on!!

prettybird · 23/06/2010 16:43

Can I join?

I've put on 3 stone in the 12+ months since I was made redundant (and so stopped cycling into work/running around/racing up to the shops at lunchtime)

On Monday I was 13stone 5lb.

I've just started running again - 2+ miles on Monday and Tuesday, followed by 45 minutes of Pilates as a "warm down" - including using some weights for my arms.

This morning I was 13stone 2lb. I'm not going to use a smiley as I am still horrified by how much I have put on.

My target weight is 9stone 13lb, which I want to achieve by 1 April next year (I will be 50 on 6 April) - but have an immediate target of "as much as possible" in the next 10 days, as we are off to Greece a week on Sunday (the Scottish schools break up tihs Friday).

I've started calorie counting this week and writing down everything I'm eating, as I've been trying to cut down (I thought quite a lot - eg no more chocolates, lots more fruit ) for the last 5 months to no effect

Calories consumed on Monday were 1485 and yesterday were 1414. Today's target is 1700 (to avoid going into starvation mode).

GettinTrimmer · 23/06/2010 19:53

Welcome prettybird, are you counting your calories on foodfocus or another website?

Whereabout in Greece? We went to Corfu last year, very hot.

I am a runner as well, when I manage to drag myself out I do about 2.5 miles, I like it because it burns heaploads of calories.

If you page back, you'll find a list, just add yourself we weigh in different days and update once a week.

Stick with us and we'll get there, although at the rate I'm going it'll probably be October for me then we would like to maintain, as it's so easy to put the whole lot back on again!

bebejones · 23/06/2010 20:00

Piste - Boosts are amazing!! But are over 300cals a bar!!

Prettybird - welcome! Add yourself to the list!

Trimmer - we definately need a mainatance thread, I need you guys!!

Have been a naughty bebe had fish & chips! Am off to sit on the naughty step, although should probably do some naughty step aerobics!

OP posts:
prettybird · 23/06/2010 22:16

I found a calorie counter gadget on iGoogle. Altohugh it's American, if there is something I can't find on it, I just google to find an alternative calculation and then add it.

We're off to Meganisi - a tiny wee island off Levkas (Levkada). A hotel where there is nothing to do except lounge by the pool, 15 minutes up the hill from the harbour and 20+ minutes walk to any of the (pebble) beaches but we love it. It's like Greece used to be Ds (9) loves the fact that we let him walk through the village on his own to go and play on the artifical pitch even further up the hill - and that we can get really cheap football strips in Nidri.

I had today off the running having run Monday and Tuesday. My achilles tendon is a wee bit tender despite all the stretching and me trying to be sensible and build up again slowly (I hate running 2 miles as I only warm up after 4 miles). It's probably the 3 extra stone I am carrying not helping an already weak achilles tendon (althugh the other one is even weaker). My intention is to run slightly further tomorrow. (Last week I did 2x1.9miles)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/06/2010 22:23

Who will stay with me on this thread until Christmas?

We could be 2010 Weight Loss Club: Countdown to Christmas!! Looking at the post count we will need a new thread before the Christmas one anyway! I am thinking we initially said March, then the Summer, but we are all still doing so well, and as and when we hit our targets we will still need support to maintain i.e. still weighing in once a week?

Welcome prettybird - I am just doing calorie counting and weighing in on Mondays. I started at over 14 stone and now 11 stone 8, so it's going well. I can recommend this thread to you!

bebejones · 23/06/2010 22:50

Prettybird - I am calorie counting and a Monday weigh in too! Started at just over 15 stone & now am a little over 11, these guys are the best support! Holiday sounds amazing very

Piste - will be here with you at least til xmas, I need to keep this weight off...and fish & chips is not going to help!
