None of the other threads quite fit the bill, so here goes: I want to lose 1 stone and get healthy.

Have tried lots of diets in the past so am going to be experimenting a bit I think, starting with some fairly generalised 'healthy eating', especially increasing my veg intake. And hopefully some exercise ...

Most of the Christmas treats are now scoffed, kids went back to school today, so I'm starting now and will get really serious once I have the chance to shop!

I need egging (or maybe kicking!). I know in a day or so (when hormones chill a bit) I will be back on track.

Went to gym to try and motivate myself and bumped into a guy I know - he was on a real downer with good reason. Listened to his problems, nothing I could really do or say . Came home and ate pizza!

But overall im holding on in - somehow I am still just under my cals.

Hope you are doing ok

eggandsoldiers · 31/01/2010 20:02

Today has been ok.

Just had porridge for supper, with a bit of grazing today but no disasters.

Tomorrow I am going to have

Porridge for breakfast

Pea and ham soup for lunch

Turkey burgers for supper

Grapefruit

I am determined again, well ish!!

swanriver · 31/01/2010 22:15

Yes, today has been a bit better (despite tea and cake at friend's)

Porridge for breakfast with bit of milk and maple syrup
lunch - roast dinner with raw veg, bit of broccoli, 4 slices fried potato,
tea - homemade raspberry cake at friend's house (rude to refuse)
milky tea and coffee all day
supper - slice of bread, lump of cheddar
followed by large plate of steamed leeks, onion, broccoli and some prawns and bit of mayonnaise sauce

medium walk today, no great pyrotechnics

Tibni - poor you, that sounds like it has taken a lot out of you. Hope pizza made you feel a bit better.

Egg - cold makes me ravenous too
yep - meal planning makes one feel much less at mercy of cravings

DoingTheBestICan · 01/02/2010 07:51

tibni · 01/02/2010 15:12

Hello all,

I have been to the gym this morning and managed a 1000 cal session on top of the hour walking the dog this morning.

swanriver - thank you. To be honest I felt quite useless. The guy at the gym is a work colleague of a friend, not someone I am close to at all. His wife is terminally ill and appears to be entering her final stage of illness, and he was feeling understandably very angry and I was there to rant at. He needed to get it all off his chest. There was nothing really that I could say - only listen. The pizza did help!

Today has been ok
B - cereal
L - Poach egg on toast
D - veggie soya thing with veggies

Good to hear us all sounding determined this week

shortandsweet2 · 01/02/2010 15:30

Lunch was a protein drink. I am going to replace one meal a day with one of these shakes. They are rank but hopefully the pounds will then fall off

shortandsweet2 · 01/02/2010 15:31

Aww tibni thats terrible poor man

swanriver · 02/02/2010 11:02

Lst night supper was so horrid I only had half of it n.b. do not have loyd grossman tomato sauce except when ravenous

Ths morning has been a bit stressful, didn't want any breakfast, now had two 90c choc biscuits and 4 dried apricots instead

lunch - bread cheese and a tomato
supper - chilli con carne with rice and salad

swanriver · 02/02/2010 11:48

breakfast has merged seamlessly into lunch
which bodes ill for afternoon
have had a v.large tomato (thnk J and Gnt Peach)and two falafel instead of bread and cheese
feeling a bit dotty this morning

eggandsoldiers · 02/02/2010 13:18

Hi all

yesterday was ok ish, but I drank quite a lot of sherry and so ate more than intended

today

piece of bread, butter and marmite

water, water, water

Lunch turkey

Feeling a bit low, which always means I am vulnerable

i may try the protein shake idea, let us know how it goes

Egg

swanriver · 02/02/2010 15:11

ah sherry, makes me want to eat nuts and cake

had also, piece of bread, another tomato, a piece of red pepper, 2 cubes of smoked cheese

shortandsweet2 · 02/02/2010 16:07

Hi all

Today I had:
B - Protein shake
L - Rivita and tuna
D - Quorn sausage, egg, beans and a piece of potato bread
S - Banana and wholemeal muffin.

Egg - I have found the shake kept me going longer today rather than a 'proper brakfast' I mixed it with fruit juice and wasn't too bad.

tibni · 02/02/2010 18:01

hi eggandsoldiers - hope you are ok. Try and take it a bit easy if you are not feeling your best (easier said than done I know).

Swanriver - don't say the choccie biscuit word! I am really trying hard to resist but its really what I fancy right now!

shortandsweet - how many cals are there in a rank protein drink? I have always avoided them but I know they sell them at the gym! I could go all body builder on you all! LOL

Did manage to sneak an extra gym session in today - problem is I come back starving! I am now trying to keep myself occupied and catch up with the housework

b - cornflakes and milk
l - skipped as had meeting with ds school
d - baked pot (no butter) with egg salad

Will prob have a bit more before the end of the day as I had dinner at 4pm.

shortandsweet2 · 02/02/2010 18:38

Tib its 110 cals per scoop and then add what ever drink you use on top. I have gone to sainbos today and bought there canberry and raspberry juice as only 9 cals per 250mls.

I am also having a tiny glass of red wine tonight.

This week is quite bad for me as my PIL are coming to take us out for dinner tomorrow as my birthday is on Monday, then my sis and mum are over at mines on Thurs for a wee drink to celebrate my b'day AND THEN I am off to Wales from Friday to Monday which will also be calorific, My main thing is to have the protein shake at least once a day

tibni · 02/02/2010 20:46

That is low cals but im not sure if I could cope if they don't taste too great! Im on cornflakes at the moment as they are one of the lower cal cereals and they weigh so little you get a good bowl full for 112 cals (plus milk).

shortandsweet - enjoy your week. You are allowed a treat or so, especially with your birthday.

shortandsweet2 · 03/02/2010 06:02

Morning all

As I hav a mad week a head I am weighing in today and since Friday I have lost 1 pound - woohoo!!!

Tib its not that bad when you add some juice - it reminds me a bit of sweet porridge when you add the juice.

Today:
B - Protein shake
L - Quorn Sausage sandwich
D - Out for mexican

Have a good day

eggandsoldiers · 03/02/2010 10:23

Tib, thanks for the support, yesterday ended badly I will not fill you all in with the gory details.

My tape helps but not done it as never have a chance to do it with my small children all over me. My son came into my bed at 4 this mornign and that is when the day began, but going to do it later.

I hope you are all doing better than me.

Today good so far just apple and coffee but I will have tuna, v low fat mayo for lunch.

I am going to go into town after work to get some protein shake

Egg

shortandsweet2 · 03/02/2010 10:38

Aww egg I know how you feel my DD was up at 4 this morning too but I have to say since drinking the protein shake I don't feel anywere near as tired as before and seem to be full of energy.

I know its early days buts it's amazing how different I feel in just 3 days

Good luck egg and I would recommend trying a flavoured one, maybe vanilla?

eggandsoldiers · 03/02/2010 10:44

Thanks shortandsweet, I will go and buy the stuff later.

swanriver · 03/02/2010 13:05

tibni · 03/02/2010 15:34

Hi all,

Went into wilkinsons today and they have slimfast powder and made up drink at half price - thought it might be of use to some of you.

b - cornflakes
l - weight watchers soup with wmeal roll
d - prob jacket pot and salad

managed a short visit to gym (600 cals plus weights) before dashing into town. ds is 9 on the 12th and buying for a child with ASD is a nightmare! On the positive side all he wants right now is feltpens and paper to draw. I have been to partners and got him a "useful box" so he can have a special storage area which he will love, a 500 sheet of A4 paper pack and 80 different washable felt tip pens. I have him clothes and DVD's but he may or may not bother with them - the pens and some chocolate buttons will be the hit!
