None of the other threads quite fit the bill, so here goes: I want to lose 1 stone and get healthy.

Have tried lots of diets in the past so am going to be experimenting a bit I think, starting with some fairly generalised 'healthy eating', especially increasing my veg intake. And hopefully some exercise ...

Most of the Christmas treats are now scoffed, kids went back to school today, so I'm starting now and will get really serious once I have the chance to shop!

Morning all and welcome newbies

I am back and ready to get going again. Too scared to weigh this morning

I don't know what I will be having but will be starting with a protein shake.

swanriver · 09/02/2010 12:39

things are slipping a bit here, probably just PMT...

b - bread, butter apricot jam
l - butternut squash soup, parsnips, carrots, lump of cheddar
s - boiled rice, pork casserole, raw veg (to come)

not much exercise likely either - thing seem a bit frantic to fit in.

shortandsweet2 · 09/02/2010 18:48

Oh god my DH has just landed back with a cake from choccywoccydoodah for my birthday. oh what to do ???

TheHappyCamper · 09/02/2010 19:24

TheHappyCamper · 09/02/2010 19:25

short&sweet - could you have a very small slice and really make sure you enjoy it ???

shortandsweet2 · 09/02/2010 19:27

Happy - I did have a small slice and then put the rest in the freezer Well done on the 7lb loss.

TrickyTeenagersMum · 09/02/2010 20:09

Weds
Wow to SDITW - 75 lbs - impressive!
Breakfast - bowl fruit n fibre w skimmed milk
Lunch cheese and tomato sandwich
Snacks around kids' tea time when was losing will to live - wm toast and bertolli, banana
Dinner: homemade chicken curry and rice
Med glass white wine
Is definitely helping to know I have to come on here and fess up. Work in an office that is awash with goodies - today was biscuits AND cakes. Difficult.
Hey SIDTW, what's that short for - Is the "W" for weightloss?!

eggandsoldiers · 09/02/2010 21:14

tibni · 09/02/2010 22:14

Ok day here too. Tomorrow I hit the gym to do my full new workout

shortandsweet -enjoy the cake and your birthday.

eggandsoldier - glad to hear you are back on track.

Enjoy your slimline wedding shopping TheHappyCamper.

swanriver · 09/02/2010 22:33

also need to confess having fairy cake at 4.30 and tiny piece of ginger cake, but had healthier supper than anticipated
and when out at cinema this eve. no snacks whatsoever - well a coffee only.
Clooney was snack enough for me

DoingTheBestICan · 10/02/2010 07:50

Hi everyone,i am really struggling this week, its a combination of ds being home ill & having a week off work.

Yesterday was just awful, started off well but went downhill rapidly.

B-porridge with raisins
L-cheese sandwich & loads of pretzels
D-HM wedges & chicken breast 2 clementines
Then i had a skinny cow hot choc

I am going out today shopping round Chester with my Mum so i am determined today i am back on track.

TrickyTeenagersMum · 10/02/2010 08:42

Hey DoingTheBest - that doesn't sound half bad to me. Hope today goes well..

swanriver · 10/02/2010 09:05

Doingthebest - that sounds like a very abstemious day to me, pretzels aren't v fatty. I think low fat hot chocolate drinks are a brilliant invention.

Today, no breakfast yet, just fruit, think I'll wait till after swim (wth ds1)and have porridge then
weight loss is slowing this week, probably water retention (she said hopefully)

shortandsweet2 · 10/02/2010 09:44

Doing - Thats not bad at all, I think because you are used to having crackers for lunch the sandwich has made you feel you have been bad.

Fess up time for me Yesterday was:
B - some chocolates left over from the week before
L - Protein shake
S - big bag of crisps
D - Chicken breast and roasted veg
S - chocolate cake.

New start today:
B - Protein shake
L - Chicken with roasted veg
D - Quorn sausages and roasted veg
S - Banana and satsumas.

tibni · 10/02/2010 16:24

Did my new workout at the gym this morning. It was tough but I managed it. Ive arranged to meet a friend tomorrow for the legs, bums, tums class - just hope I am able to move come the morning.

Got into my size 8 jeans today . They are tight so a good reason not to over indulge today.

So far
B - cornflakes
L - pot and leek soup
s - half a choc biscuit rejected by ds
D - small piece of quiche and veggies.

doingthebest - that isn't a bad day really. I know I have had far worse (thinks of whole packets of biscuits, chips, buttered toast, ice-cream - note to self stop thinking its not good for me... must follow swanrivers example and think of a better distraction )

shortandsweet - that looks a very good menu; lots of cooking there.

eggandsoldier - hope you are having a good day.

eggandsoldiers · 10/02/2010 16:46

Well done tibini, congratulations re yuor jeans

Today had ok ish day threatening to go downhill now

protein shake, grapefruit hm bread

sweet potatoe tunaa

almonds, bread, peanut butter small, few raisins,

I am feeling bit stressed, dd itis here. Must cook childrens supper now.

shortandsweet2 · 10/02/2010 17:35

Well done tib bet that was a great feeling

Egg how are you finding the protein shake?

I ended up having a piece of chocolate cornflake cake that I made for work with marshmallows - was yum. Can't help myself its so annoying- Note to self: must try harder tomorrow

Doing hope you are having a better day.

eggandsoldiers · 10/02/2010 18:41

Great re the shakes I think it really helps getting the protein in, and it is easier than eating four eggs

dd just had another tanti, but I am going to have a bath and an early night instead of drinking half a bottle of wine

TheHappyCamper · 10/02/2010 18:58

egg - sorry dd having a bad day(not sure what a tanti is? sorry) Well done for not resorting to wine - exactly the kind of emotional eaing/drinking us women are really bad for! Mine is bored on a sunday afternoon eating

tb - well done on your jeans! size 8 - I would be dead if I ever fitted into a size 8 pair!

good day here - usual B and L then WW lasagne with peas, carrots and green beans for D, with one quality street for treat!

eggandsoldiers · 10/02/2010 21:46

Camper, tanti is my slang for 60 minutes of tantrum courtesy of dd.

TrickyTeenagersMum · 11/02/2010 05:05

Weds - Felt starving a lot today.
B - 2 smallish homemade pancakes with sug and lemon
Lunch - onion and goats cheese tart with mixed salad (olive oil dressing)
Dinner - 1/2 a shop-bought pizza (I know!!) around 380 cals - with mixed salad. Activia yoghurt.
Snacks - crisps, banana, small bowl of leftover curry and rice, 1 sesame snap slice.
glass wine
Exercise, walked 1.5 miles round trip on the school run. Mucked out horse.
Not a great day (pizza - what was I thinking?) but am doing much better on avoiding choc bars and cakes, which is usually my downfall.
Must take some healthy snacks to work today as am in the office, which is usually plastered in biscuits and sweet stuff. What do you guys recommend for times like that?
Keep up the good work everyone.

shortandsweet2 · 11/02/2010 07:14

Morning all.

Today:
B - Protein shake
L - Quorn sausage sandwich
D - Haddock and veg
S - Satsumas and banana

Exercise - cycling to and from work and the gym for 45m - As long as it doesn't snow to much

Tricky - 1/2 pizza is ok as only 380 cals and salad not much extra - if it was me I would have ate the whole thing

swanriver · 11/02/2010 09:53

tantrums make me sooo stressed too

tibni - you are in a different league I don't think I ever even had a pair of size 8 jeans even when I was 14

yesterday had small peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich whilst watching Mad Men, not distracting enough and also feelng slightly stressed after v. busy eve running around with 20 6 year olds at Beavers..

today, not sure, will tell you when I've eaten it - but as tomorrow is WEIGH DAY, will try and be restrained.

STIDW · 11/02/2010 16:14

Well done everyone. Keep going.

Weigh in today and I have lost another two pounds so celebrated with a bacon roll.

Today;

Porridge
Bacon roll
Soup, cheese 2 digestive biscuits
Dinner tonight - cajun chicken, potato wedeges, corn on the cob, salad and fruit.

Exercise; 10 min exercise bike, 45 min aquafit

TrickyTeenagersMum, STIDW is short for Sometimes It Doesn't Work - I'm an engineer

tibni · 11/02/2010 22:20

Hi all,

STIDW well done on the loss

I too could eat the whole pizza with a side of garlic bread and chips!

Did class at gym today - tums, bums and thighs and it hurt!

Tommorow is ds 9th birthday. We have been talking to him about his birthday for a week now, with his ASD and Learning Difficulties he needs time to grasp the concept. I have made party bags to send into his special school classmates (only 9 including him) and we will be having a small party tomorrow evening for family.

Food has been difficult today but done ok overall.
