None of the other threads quite fit the bill, so here goes: I want to lose 1 stone and get healthy.

Have tried lots of diets in the past so am going to be experimenting a bit I think, starting with some fairly generalised 'healthy eating', especially increasing my veg intake. And hopefully some exercise ...

Most of the Christmas treats are now scoffed, kids went back to school today, so I'm starting now and will get really serious once I have the chance to shop!

Hi all,
sorry to hear some of us are having a difficult time. Keep trying

I didn't have a very good diet over the weekend as we had friends visiting - cue pavlova/bacon sarnies/million glasses of wine etc etc etc!

I weighed in on Mon and have still lost 1 lb - so must have had a good week before the weekend!

Back on track this week - pork with potatoes and veg for tea today.

DoingTheBestICan · 03/02/2010 18:04

Today i have had,

B-porridge
L-2 ryvita crackers with philadelphia cheese & a packet of sour cream snack a jacks
D-sausage casserole with no potatos in it,1 apple

Feel a bit more positive today & am hoping for a good weight loss this week.

I just keep thinking of our summer holidays & me in a swimming costume

Come on everyone, we are doing so well lets keep it up!

shortandsweet2 · 04/02/2010 07:12

Morning all

Egg - How did you get on with the protein shake?

Tib thanks for the info on the slim fast.

Dinner last night was amazing - I ended up have a coconut type salmon curry.

Weighed again this morning and have stayed the same which is amazing for what I ate and drank last night

B - Protein shake
L - Rivita and tuna
D - Don't know yet.

swanriver · 04/02/2010 12:43

Tibni - that is pretty positive, my 9 year old hates drawing and anything creative We did electrical circuits yesterday from Brightminds - that was a real hit, although he claimed he didn't want to do it at first, I think all intricate bits (which he usuallyhates) making a current was a thrill.

I'm sort of realising that within certain boundaries, I can still fit in a bit of fruit pie or the occasional cheese snack, and I will still lose weight :re Salmon curry
It is important to remember that if you starve, at some point when you go back to former eating habits, it will all go back on again, so better to have reasonable intake..she said...greedily.

Today
b - nothing in a rush
l - chilli, rice, bit of cheddar, apple, carrot
supper - not sure

swanriver · 04/02/2010 14:11

Also need to add two no-fat but sugary Yeo yoghurts, and two dried apricots for snack later.

swanriver · 04/02/2010 17:06

also small slice of ginger cake with my cup of tea

Supper will be potato salmon fishcakes and vegetables

tibni · 04/02/2010 20:41

swanriver - we bought ds a circuit set for christmas, he has played with it a couple of times - liked it when the bulb lit up. The set we got was a snap on design so not too fiddly.

shortandsweet - glad you had a good night

Had ds Statement Review at his new school this afternoon - it went really well so different from his last placement.

Today
b - cornflakes
l - half a pack savoury rice
d - veg grill soya thing, boiled pots and peas plus some frnch bread which is loaded with cals but delicious!

Grabbed my trainer at the gym today - I am working out hard (another 1000 cals burnt today) but I think I need developing further. I am going to have a review Monday and concentrate on weight work rather than cardio. I'm expecting it to hurt!

eggandsoldiers · 04/02/2010 22:59

Tuna, salmon, porridge, a bit of hm bread, apple and a protein shake

Supposed to be going out tomorrow nigth and in two minds about it as alcohol always wrecks my diets.

egg&soldiers that was me saying about my swimming costume, well i weighed myself today & i have lost another 3lb.That makes 16lb since New Years day,i am so pleased with myself.

I have a week off work next week so i am slightly worried about snacking so i will have to keep myself busy.

Good Luck everyone & have a good weekend.

swanriver · 05/02/2010 09:33

Weigh in- and for one brief moment thought I'd hit the 73 kg mark (from original 76 in Jan). One cup of tea later, I seemed magically to have put on a Ib, ah well,
so definitely gone down a bit further, but not quite sure whether it is 1 or 2 Ibs.

Anyway I am nearly at my magic 11.5 stone mark - 2 Ibs more I think, and then I suppose I could just keep on going down down down...

I have decided to buy a new swimsuit when I'm under 11.5, as my existing one is looking v. droopy

eggandsoldiers · 05/02/2010 10:01

Ta dtbIcan, very helpful and well done both of you with your weigh in

I hope to have good news next week this week not reportable

This am B - protein shake and one slice of hm bread

Decided to meet my friends late and drink diet coke and claim to be on antibiotics so will not be pressured.

swanriver · 05/02/2010 11:37

Breakfast - 2 bowls of sugar puffs feeling rebellious all of a sudden, a tomato

just did power walk to plumbers' merchants and back, actually huffing and puffing (that's a good sign)

resisted all chocolate snacks in newsagents when buying catfood

now feel slightly sick and dizzy (too much exercise)going to lie down...

lunch - sardines on toast, raw cabbage, tomato, low fat yoghurt

more walking later to an activity
supper - butternut squash soup, cheese scone (only 1)ham, salad

tibni · 05/02/2010 17:13

swanriver · 08/02/2010 09:08

tibni · 08/02/2010 16:53

Hello all,

I survived my training session this morning - even managed to arrive before 8am . Session went ok - moving from a cardio to weight based programme.

Food is going ok - and I have lost a couple more pounds.

b - cereal
l - soup, 1 slice weight watcher wmeal bread
D - jacket pot, small slice broccoli quiche, steamed veg

Hello and welcome along tricky.

swanriver - you have just reminded me I have not needed anti acids since starting to eat better!

Have a good week everyone

TrickyTeenagersMum · 08/02/2010 19:47

Hello, thanks v much for letting me in! I need a bit of support with this, I can tell you.
Am realising kids'leftovers a serious issue. Jane Asher squirts washing up liquid over them to stop herself picking. I'd probably eat them anyway and foam at the mouth!

monday 8th feb
Breakfast - bowl Fruit n fibre, semi sk milk
Lunch
pork belly , croquettes, beetroot, roast veg (not much option as was cooked for me. Delicious though)
Dinner baked potato, tuna/sweetcorn/mayo mix, salad w olive oil dressing, apple
Oh - and small glass white wine...
Exercise - mucked out horse, ie minimal
How are you gals getting on so far? Keep it up!

swanriver · 08/02/2010 22:37

Today was quite good I suppose

Breakfast bread and jam (no butter)
Lunch left over rice and chinese seaweed and brocolli
apple
red pepper
about 5 bits of dried pear/prune
Supper macaroni cheese with chipolata sausage in, green beans, parsnip, carrot (boiled plain) small nice fairy cake (no icing) and Alpen bar (105 c)in front of Glee

water to drink and milky tea throughout day
short power walk somewhere or other

Goodness it was cold and horrid today, and I felt seriously bad tempered by 5pm and longing for nice bowl of cereal. Luckily supper was at 6.oo.

swanriver · 08/02/2010 22:40

Tricky I immediately clingflim the leftovers and earmark them for ANOTHER meal (ie: lunch next day) but that's because I don't have lunch with kids(all at school) so it's a bit easier to use up.
I suppose it's better for them to go in the bin, than to be that human dustbin yourself ifysim - wasteful though it might seem [sigh]

STIDW · 08/02/2010 23:46

Can anyone join in? I've always battled with my weight and let it go for a couple of years until last June when after prolonged health problems I weighed in at almost twice what I should be. Anyway decided one day I had to take matters in hand and have consistently lost a couple of pounds a week - 75lbs in total.

Today I had;

orange juice, Weetabix, ss milk
French onion soup, tongue sandwich
braised steak, carrots, broccoli and mash
half fat cheddar, crackers, grapes
Options hot chocolate, 2 biscuits

Seems a lot but any less and I find I don't have the energy to exercise - today 40 min swim + 10 min exercise bike

DoingTheBestICan · 09/02/2010 08:15

Wow STIDW you have lost a lot of weight, well done!

Yesterday i had a bit of a funny day,ds was off school with earache & my Mum came round to help me have a spring clean,so i missed breakfast completely as ds was a bit clingy.

Lunch was 4 ryvitas with low fat spread, then dinner was morroccan chicken with plain boiled rice.

Supper i had a packet of ryvita snack crackers & a skinny cow hot choc.

Today i am having

B-porridge with raisins
L-soup
D-prawn curry with rice.

Good luck everyone.
