Well, I have decided that from Monday I am

  1. Going to lose weight and stop making excuses and put it off anymore

2)Make exercise a regular part of my life, which will mean shaking the months of dust off my clothes hanger exercise bike.

  1. Start to feel good about myself again, and imagine myself in lots of lovely clothes for the Spring. This will involve looking at myself in a mirror and thinking good thoughts

I am 5ft 3 and tipping the scales at a disgusting 12 stone 7lbs. Ideally I want to get to 9 stone 7 lbs so 3 stone to lose. Eeeek! Anyone fancy joining me?

I'm a Personal Trainer on maternity leave and don't think they will take me back as I'm heading towards 14 stones. I lost weight during pregnancy and just looked slim with a bump, but since having LO 16 weeks ago, I'm getting fatter by the day.

It would be great to start a group where we can post pics, charting our success over the weeks, not sure where though.

defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 14:16

Well, I did really well at the start of the year and got down to 10 stone 13. Still big, but a huge step in the right direction. Since then I just lost the plot and have done naff all exercise and ate and drank what I like. No excuses though. I'm focused and ready. Will do a Friday weigh in here if you like?

monadami I'm also a PT but haven't been working for the last year and a bit since being pregnant then at home with DD (who is now 9 months). I'm going back to do some CPD training with YMCA at the end of November and I seriously need to shape up before the course starts! I'm about a stone overweight at the moment. Fitness not too bad as I have kept up the exercise, but the amount of cake I've eaten while at home with DD has not done me any favours...time to get disciplined.

I won't post pics or weight, (paranoid android) but would be very up for posting weekly weight loss and generally encouraging each other along.

defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 15:23

I agree about not posting pics.I would be far too to do that but am happy to post weight. My ds is now 21 months old so I really have no excuse for the flab.

I have been on threads like this too often, I havent' followed through, I am still fat and unfit.

I would like to try again if that is ok.

I am happy to share weight but not photo's.
I have trainers and discovered that I like running.
Am planning on cutting carbs down by removing wheat from my diet, I eat far too much bread and that is also my main source of butter and jam as well so it automatically make s a difference.

I am hoping to loose weight before christmas but also to be starting the new year in a more positive frame of mind - going to write this year off as my annus horriblis.

SO

fatty to fabulous,
I am greyskull, I am 13st 2lb, 5ft6, hoping to get to 10st 7lb.
10 weeks until Christmas - hoping to have lost 10-20lb by then

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 16/10/2009 15:45

that would make me between 12st 4lb and and 11st 8lb at christmas

defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 21:10

Hello and welcome ByThePowerOfGreyskull.
You sound a bit like me. I joined a thread earlier in year and while I stuck with the thread I lost weight, but the diet all went to pot when I stopped checking in and weighing and the thread started to die. Let's keep this one up and running!

Anyway, I start on Monday. Good job as I on 2nd glass wine and just had a Chinese.

I will be focused by the time Monday comes, I promise!

Ooh lovely - a weightloss thread I can join at the beginning.

I am moodlum. I am overweight. I once lost a huge about of weight on WW, and it has slowly crept on.

I'm not sure what I weigh. But I was over 14 stone a few weeks ago. I don't feel particularly inspired to lose weight, but perhaps this is the kick up my fat arse I need?

No photos. Starting weigh in on Monday for me, as I'm off for a weekend away tomorrow. I'm also going to join one of those calorie counting websites.

But as I had wine and snack a jacks for supper, its not looking good for tonight!

carocaro · 16/10/2009 21:30

Me too. Can I come?

Ashamed of myself, three stone needs to go and I do NOTHING except drive and sit on my arse in front of the TV eating.

DS2 is 2.5 FFS.

I had to run today to chase after him as he whizzed out of the school gates and one Mum said 'ooh I never seen you run before'

Fuck Off.

Good thread, found it just as I was taking 2 biscuits to bed.

And I wonder why the fuck I am fat!

defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 21:33

Welcome lonelyold.

I have decided a Friday weigh in for me as I always struggle to be good at weekend so can normally undo the damage if weigh in is on a Friday. I am totally sick of wearing clothes to 'disguise' rather than 'emphasise', so aim to wow everyone by Spring.

We can do this ladies.

OP posts:
defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 21:35

And hello carocaro. We will do this. Seriously, mind over fat arse matter.

OP posts:
duckyfuzz · 16/10/2009 21:37

I really struggle with denying myself completely, so i have devised my own weightloss strategy (the duckydiet? ) which involves as few carbs as you can manage and no booze from Sun evening to Fri lunch but for 48 hours over the weekend you can indulge a bit (she says, after half a bottle of wine, a bag of haribo and some peanuts)

lonelyoldmadmoodluminchat · 16/10/2009 21:38

Aah ducky - you come from the same school of Friday night suppers as I do

defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 21:39

You both sound like me. hic.

OP posts:
duckyfuzz · 16/10/2009 21:41

I love friday night

defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 21:42

What makes me spit feathers is that I eat far less than I did in my 20's ( when I was nice and slim) but this flippin age thing knackers you up and makes your metabolism slow down and put weight on. I want to lose weight but have a bit of a life as well. Don't think it works like that though.

OP posts:
chaostrulyreigns · 16/10/2009 21:47

I have been seriously overweight for years.

I have no sticking power I seriously forget I am on a diet.

I overeat immensely.

I am so fled up.

I have 4 lovely children and would like to make them proud of a mom who can do stuff and not be restricted by my size.

DD1 stars senior school next year, would like to look sort of normal for her.

Please help and inspire me.

am crying so much now

defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 21:54

Hey, don't get upset. This is the start of something good. I don't want to be fat for my ds either which is my main motivation, plus hating seeing what I see in mirror. Lets start Monday and really make this work.

OP posts:
Crazycatlady · 16/10/2009 22:03

Yes Monday it is...I've sort of started already with training 2 days on 1 day off, but the food and booze need a little more concentrated effort

Have just enjoyed two lovely glasses of red wine. I'm liking the Friday to Sunday booze rule.

Chaos my heart goes out to you, sorry you're feeling so upset. Having children really does make you scrutinize yourself in so many ways, but they are the ultimate motivation too. How much would you like to lose? Would it help to work towards small goals like 7lbs to start with?

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 16/10/2009 22:06

I am definately needing fatty to fabulous friends to push me into doing this..

I am goiing to have a final weekend of cheese and biscuits and will get things in gear for monday.
Chaos, small steps, do you actually have a long way to go or is it more that you feel you need to loose alot? if it is that you actually have a lot to loose, the great thing about that is that you really can make a big difference to your health and weight by gently starting to exercise.
Looks like we have a couple of personal trainers on here, so if anyone can help with keeping us motivated they should be able to help.

and Heck if we are all in it together we can do anything!!

please dont be upset about yourself now, as DG said, this is the beginning of the yellow brick road, lets take a journey together

defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 22:07

I agree totally with the small goals. When you have a lot of weight to lose it can seem like an insurmountable battle, but small goals will take you to target. We are all in the same boat. Unhappy with our size and ready to make changes. Monday is the start of the new us. Just think on Monday that whatever it is that you weigh that it will be the last time you will weigh that much.Every pound you lose will have you looking and feeling better.

Liking that there are a couple of PTs here.
So is there a plan?

defyinggravity · 16/10/2009 22:12

Weigh in on a Friday and support throughout week. I plan on calorie counting and exercise but not sure what others are doing.
