Well, I have decided that from Monday I am

  1. Going to lose weight and stop making excuses and put it off anymore

2)Make exercise a regular part of my life, which will mean shaking the months of dust off my clothes hanger exercise bike.

  1. Start to feel good about myself again, and imagine myself in lots of lovely clothes for the Spring. This will involve looking at myself in a mirror and thinking good thoughts

I am 5ft 3 and tipping the scales at a disgusting 12 stone 7lbs. Ideally I want to get to 9 stone 7 lbs so 3 stone to lose. Eeeek! Anyone fancy joining me?

Morning everyone, weighing in...

70kg - there I've said it. My goal is to swap that 7 for a 6. I have no idea what that is in pounds though so I'll work in kg if you don't mind.

Is everyone exercising today? Even if it's just a dog walk? I'm heading out this afternoon for a walk with DD then will go for a 30 min run this evening once she's in bed and DH is home.

Foodwise all I've eaten today is plain popcorn (low fat but NOT a good way to start the day...) Going to shove a banana in my face now and also have parsnips roasting in the oven and stock stewing on the hob to make a soup for this afternoon. Then it's chicken casserole for dinner. And NO WINE ...

defyinggravity · 19/10/2009 14:23

Had no idea what kgs worked out at so I did a calculation for you Crazy.
Its 154 lbs which converts to exactly 11 stone ( I think). It would be nice if I could say i weigh 11 stone. I have a bit of way to go before that happens.

Crazycatlady · 19/10/2009 14:34

ooh thank you DG!

Once the first 7/8lbs comes off and you tick over to the next stone down you'll feel sooo much better. 2-3 good weeks of healthy eating and some exercise and you will be there.

I'm just imagining slipping into my smallest jeans, zipping up my tightest boots (which would be baggy on most people's calves... but still) and walking into Selfridges to buy something fabulous (and small).

With today's popcorn incident I'm hardly following my own advice here, but eating every 4 hours, religiously, (apart from overnight of course) is really important for weight loss. The more frequently you eat, the more frequently your metabolism spikes, kicking the body into fuel-using mode rather than fuel-storage mode. It also stops food-panic, which is my absolute worst enemy and always results in me dialling for pizza

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 19/10/2009 14:59

Yes, food-panic must be avoided at all costs < stern >.

If we're weighing in, I kicked off today at 64.5 kilos - 10st2lb.
But I'm bad and weigh myself twice a day.

So far:
Tuna and LF Mayo sandwich, scrambled eggs on toast for lunch, and later it'll be SW carrot and coriander soup with jacket p and beans, fruit salad with LF Greek yoghurt and honey, then a choccie biccie at my art class later. Cheers!

PumpkinProject · 19/10/2009 17:57

Didn't weigh this morning, but will be doing the wii fit when DS goes to bed and that can always be relied on to make me feel like crap tell me my weight and bmi. I might just post my bmi for now.

Busy day so has been fruit, homemade smoothie and coffees and teas only thus far. Really want to up the healthy stuff so that even if I don't lose weight I feel good.

DH cooking dinner, think it's risotto.

duckyfuzz · 19/10/2009 18:02

PP I have fallen out with the wii fit as it weighs me a good 2kg heavier than my scales

Have been very good today, rice krispies, juice, coffee, 2 satsumas, chicken salad with couscous, no dressing, grapes, 1.5 apples, had some tomato soup just now because I was about to snack so hopefully I am back on track

will either post last fridays weight or wait until this coming fri, as today's weight is not good

duckyfuzz · 19/10/2009 18:04

in fact even DT2 said 'mummy you're not that fat' when she saw my wii me today

moonshine · 19/10/2009 18:19

Hello can I join please? I am the world's best/worst (which ever way you want to look at it!) yoyo dieter and am forever supposedly trying to lose weight but, even when I think I'm doing the right things recently, the weight has not been coming off.

I am a 'generous' size 16 atm and have lots of size 14 clothes I would love to wear. Would love to get to size 12 but a small 14 is fine for me.

Now can I bore you all with my motivation? Went to a works do last week and got chatted up several times, but the best one was a 31 year-old good-looking, and lovely with it, work colleague who said he found me very sexy and wanted to have sex with me . For the record I am a 43 year-old, fat and saggy mum of 2. (Stares hard to see if anyone dares to mention beer goggles). But I want to be that sexy person now (not to do anything naughty, I hasten to add, I just want to live up to my undeserved reputation. Just need to say a big thank you to M&S for the curve-making dress and control tights help!).

Thank you for letting me share.

I will make Friday my weigh-in day (it's also the day I shall start going back to the gym).

frakula · 19/10/2009 21:17

I'm feeling quite pleased with how today went - resisted biscuits with tea temptation (and how I eat them when I get going...), haven't snacked at all, soup and bread for lunch and spag bol with a v. small portion of apple crumble for tea!

Have just changed pill as well so now have EXTRA reason to watch my weight

But yes, I am VERY excited about getting married (but also stressed and therefore have a tendancy to binge eat). According to my scales I'm 64kg today

sweetboysmum · 20/10/2009 09:40

Was really good yesterday. Slimfast for breakfast and for lunch with healthy snacks of home made soup and fruit salad. Dinner was more soup and a toastie. Only snacky thing was a segment of choccie orange. I had a nice hour long walk. Very pleased with myself! Hope you are all doing well and feeling motivated.

PinkChick · 20/10/2009 09:58

Hi ..can i join?
I lost 3 stone last year but since sept 08 have but on about 7lbs..not bad in a year but it shouldnt have happend at all as im already STILL over weight.
I was taking tablets from doc which were meant to make me feel full quicker, but after we came back from our full board hol in cyprus and wanting to eat all the lovely food despite feeling full and in pain when i over ate..it went belly up...i started taking the tabs again and have been going on the Wii fit/sports like ive seen some of you doing also..but today my back has gone, think its just TOTM probs so will have to have a day off it ...
im approx 14st 7lb, my scales arent accurate anymore and vary wildly from 13 st something up to 14 st 7, so am taking worst case scenario.

i go to have my first weigh in at doc friday, but have only been 'doing it' properly for about 2 weeks now (had the tabs for 6)

i want to be 12st..for now..and will assess that again when i get there..so approx 2 1/2 stone more to come off

off for a weekend away in 4 weeks, would love to be below 14st for than, but mainly more toned..these bingo wings just arent funny anymore!

PinkChick · 20/10/2009 10:00

oh just a little tip for any chocoholics like me..pour a hi lights sachet into cup and fill 1/3 with milk, stir until all powder gone then pour on boiling water...this makes them very fluffy and chocolatey but still low cal, gives me my choc fix

mamasunshine · 20/10/2009 10:10

Yesterday wasn't a great start day for me! Had yogurt, banana, makerel on toast, goats cheese and onion thin base pizza followed by a coffee and very mini dessert (pizza express) Spaghetti bolognaise for dinner. How many carbohydrates Atleast I didn't binge eat chocolate in the evening so i did do well there . Had a brisk walk around town too.

Today WILL be better, muesli and banana for breakfast, will have soup for lunch and making a fish pie for dinner. Will try and fit a couple of healthy snacks in too. Oh and water, also need to work on inceasing it!

Going to meet up with a friend this afternoon so will get another good walk in. Going to start looking for a couple of exercise groups to go to now DS2 can go a bit longer between feeds - can't wait to see other adults again!!

PinkChick · 20/10/2009 10:11

try www.foodfocus.co.uk..i was using it last year, its free and really useful!

robino · 20/10/2009 10:16

Failed at the fist hurdle yesterday! Well, second I supposed - managed my morning dog walk with double buggy and nearly 4 stone of child. Then OH came home late because of a hospital appointment so I missed pilates and he had had good news at the hospital so brought wine home.......

Today is another day, though. I'm nicking OH's spot in his pilates class tonight in revenge and NO WINE!

defyinggravity · 20/10/2009 13:58

Hi everyone. Good to see everyone trying hard.
I've managed to stick with it and have done lots of exercise so fingers crossed on Friday when I weigh in it shows!

Checking In!

Well, my starting weight for yesterday was Z stone 3 lbs. Yes, I'm being a wuss and not giving my real weight. I shall just work my way backwards up the alphabet!

I've decided to have one new goal per week, so I get into this slowly. I should be able to stick to one new thing a week. This week's goal is to use my WiiFit for at least 20 mins plus 4x a week, and to do join a local jive dance class on Wednesdays. I've signed up to the class. It will be the first structured exercise I've done since my dc2 was born 5 months ago. The instructor promises that they take it slowly. I do worry that I'll look silly jiving as I'm hardly one of the fit fillies you see on Srictly Come Dancing. Still, at least it will motivate me to lose weight because as it's a partnered dance, I don't want to saddle some bloke with having to swing my extra bulk round the dance floor. So I'm hoping to shame myself into weight loss!

duckyfuzz · 20/10/2009 19:30

good day food wise today, rice krispies, juice, 2 apples, ham salad, grapes, coffee, quite a few polos cup of tea, omelette, potatoes, green beans, having a few seeds and nuts now and woudl love a glass of wine as I'm really tired and fed up, but I will resist

Good luck to everyone else

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 20/10/2009 21:22

Hungry day today, in spite of bacon sarnie for breakfast, carrot soup and smoked mackerel fillets for lunch plus one piece of bread, SW Thai chicken curry with roast sweet potatoes, fruit salad and LF yog.

Also had 2 hobnobs and haven't resisted the large glass of wine offered by DH!

I hate that feeling of leaving the table feeling hungry, which tbf hasn't really happened before on SW - but it's made me realise how important it is to fill up on greens and veg - got too hungry and fed up of prep tonight so didn't bother.

PumpkinProject · 20/10/2009 22:27

Not too bad a day today up until 6pm that is, nibbled on DS's toast...and then made myself a heavily buttered slice. However, felt really bad about it and rather than carrying on eating (as normal) I stopped, congratulated myself on stopping and have distracted myself this evening to stop from overeating.

Good to hear how everyone else is doing - we're on the way to fabulous-ness ladies!

(Also chickening out of putting my exact weight, I too am X stone 11.25 lb, that's nearly 3 stone more than my pre preg weight and DS is 16 months).

sweetboysmum · 20/10/2009 22:37

My story is very similar to PumpkinProjects, I did well today but tonight I was really struggling and been trying to keep busy. Had one square of dark choc and a bite of a special K Bar. Not too bad considering previously I'd have eaten the lot! I walked for an hour with the pram but think that with the cold weather setting in it'll be harder to get motivated to go out for walks. I'm a SAHM and i'm going to start looking for more toddler groups for winter too keep me occupied and out fo the kitchen cupboards on those cold days!

defyinggravity · 21/10/2009 12:28

Evenings are definitely the worst times for me too. I can keep myself busy throughout the day, but as soon as I sit down to relax it's easy to think glass of wine and some snacks. Have resisted so far though

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 21/10/2009 12:34

defyinggravity - funnily enough, I came onto the thread this morning to ask for tips on avoiding evening snacking. I am TERRIBLE at this. In my first pregnancy 4 years ago, I really, really craved sugar and DH and I started having dessert after dinner for the first time regularly. Not necessarily proper desserts, but we'd share a big bar of chocolate. Unfortunately, I still have that habbit 4 years later, and my last pregnancy only ramped up the sugar cravings and dependency.

The thing is that I really see having chocolate/dessert in the evening as a treat, and sitting watching television without eating seems odd. I know it's something I have to break, so I'd appreciate anyone's tips. It's a real emotional thing for me - comfort, treating myself, relaxing with food, having my hands occupied I guess.

Crazycatlady · 21/10/2009 13:44

Oh the evenings... Demonic I developed the exact same evening choc habit while pregnant and haven't managed to break it. I had such a good healthy day yesterday and then went and ruined it by eating a fun-size Flake, quickly followed by two more... .

Since I clearly have zero self-control I have asked DH to hide the bag of chocolates somewhere I can't find it, and to ration me just ONE every evening with my cuppa.

Also going to bake a big Bramley apple stuffed with some sultanas and have that with a spoonful of plain yog as a healthy pudding tonight.

Otherwise jelly is a great one - if you get sugar free that is...

defyinggravity · 21/10/2009 15:37

I agree with the sugar free jelly. Also, I keep in some weight watchers frozen dessert type thngs in case I get the urge. They do some delicious stuff. Yum.

Failing all that I put myself to bed earlier than usual, and try to go to sleep rather than give in to the temptation.
