Anyone want to join me as I go from 'fatty' to 'fabulous'?

Well, I have decided that from Monday I am

  1. Going to lose weight and stop making excuses and put it off anymore

2)Make exercise a regular part of my life, which will mean shaking the months of dust off my clothes hanger exercise bike.

  1. Start to feel good about myself again, and imagine myself in lots of lovely clothes for the Spring. This will involve looking at myself in a mirror and thinking good thoughts

I am 5ft 3 and tipping the scales at a disgusting 12 stone 7lbs. Ideally I want to get to 9 stone 7 lbs so 3 stone to lose. Eeeek! Anyone fancy joining me?

im not one to argue about things like that!

robino · 21/01/2010 13:10

Exactly Clanky! That mummymels is right! My thinking is that diety diets don't allow you to live normal life but healthy (or healthier) choices most of the time with an increase in activity levels at least allows for things like compulsory birthday cake .

Have done ok so far this week. After my swim on Sun I went to pilates on Mon. Tuesday wasn't a brilliant food day but not terrible. Went out for a chinese last night but had very healthy and controlled breakfast and lunch with no snacks.

Wii fitness coach for me this afternoon after a light lunch of homemade tomato and fennel soup and a bit of bread (no butter).

And I've just been recommended a non-terrifying running group to join so hoping to go to that on Sunday morning to get me back into it

Hope everyone is well - is Friday weighday for most?

mummymels · 21/01/2010 18:21

lol clanky pleased to hear it.

Robino, you are doing so well with your exercise.

onehotmama · 22/01/2010 11:30

I've managed to lose 2lbs this week. First weight loss in ages! Hurrah!

onehotmama · 22/01/2010 11:31

Soory meant to say I've name changed to reflect a more positive me! I was 'defyinggravity'.

clankypanky · 22/01/2010 12:09

ha ha, like it onehotmama. So what do you weigh now? I gave in and weighed myself this morning, i WEIGH 13. 1 which Im not too upset about considering all the birthday food etc. I will weigh myself again next Friday. As of monday I am going to really go for it. I did Davina cardiobox for 1/2 hour yesterday and have been generally quite busy. My jeans feel quite baggy and loose today. My doctor has said I have oedema as well so has given metablets so hopefully when all that retention has gone I'll feel a bit lighter still. Hvae just sent my babe to his Grandmas so I will do another half hour davina. I just soooo wan to get below that 13 mark so badly x

onehotmama · 22/01/2010 13:27

Still weigh loads but now weighing in at 12 5.
Enjoy the excercise. I've not done much this week in the way of exercise except running round after my ds (2yo)

clankypanky · 22/01/2010 21:31

Only managed 15 minutes of Davina, my legs were still pretty tired from yesterday, however, I have just been on a speed walk to tesco and back which took an hour (including tesco 20 minute browse). Am a bit knackered, I ate a home made lasagne before I left and had seconds so needed the walk but it being quite late and walking, nearly running so fast I got back and felt like being sick. Note to self: do not eat heavy meal and then exercise. God I wish I was 12.5 hot moms x

mummymels · 22/01/2010 23:12

Well done onehotmama on the weight loss, that is brill.

Clanky - Sorry but I can't remember what you weighed at the last weigh in but from what you say this weigh in sounds good so well done. Exercise sounds like it is going well too. Sorry for being thick but what is oedema.

robino · 23/01/2010 12:19

Liking the new name onehotmama - and losing weight to go with it. Don't feel quite so bad about dragging your shrinking arse off a weather thread and back here now

I haven't lost any weight but it normally takes a while for my body to catch up; am not going to allow myself to get disheartened this time. I'm also hoping that my four (yes, count them!) exercise sessions this week will have at least vaguely increased my muscle tone . OH has done no extra exercise this week and ate TEN biscuits at work the other day so am hoping I will be ahead of him in the one stone challenge

clankypanky · 23/01/2010 13:58

I had got down to 13 and then last time went back up to 13 2 so was annoyed but it has gone back down today to 13....nearly below that 13 mark...so nearly!! I figured out that my walk is 2 1/2 miles so thats quite a good quick walk, am going to try and do it again tonight because I reckon it shaves off a lb or 1/2 lb every time I do it.. Oedema is where you retain a lot of water, you know like during pregancy when your legs swell up, for some reason mine do that without being pregnant, the tablets should help get rid of it a bit.
Woo hoo robino...4 exercise sessions...well done, you are going to kick hubbys ass hopefully!

mummymels · 25/01/2010 08:13

Robino - Four exercise sessions in a week is brilliant.

Clanky - That walk is definitely a good one. That for explaining oedema, I understand now.

As I am on here early today I've not done my Monday weigh in yet so I will post that later today or tomorrow when I've done it.

Just eating my granola breakfast, today with yoghurt and some raspberries mixed in before the kids are up and the house turns manic.

clankypanky · 28/01/2010 10:08

Where is everyone?!

How are you all getting on, my week has gone great so far. I have been walking really long distances, keeping myself very busy and havent had chocolate all week! I dont know what everyone thinks about it and whether they think its cheating or not but I started taking alli, I know there are some hideous stories about it but the incentive to not have errrm, leaking has meant that my diet has been so super low fat and 1200 cals or less and Ive suffered no side effects at all and I feel like Ive got over wnating that kind of naughty stuff. Watch this space I'll let you know how it goes. Am going to do a Davina later on, Im excited about weighing myself on Friday, surely I must be below that elusive 13 mark now! Even if Im not I definately have lost something because my knickers keep falling down...need to go buy new smaller ones! What was the result of your weigh in mummymels? x

robino · 28/01/2010 13:06

I'm here!

Well done on the exercise Clanky and the lack of chocolate. Alli - well, I think you're very brave! But if it works and gets you over the habit of eating naughty stuff.... Will you keep taking it until you've lost all your weight or come off it soon to see if you can stick to fairly healthy stuff?

I went to my new-found running group on Sunday and managed 3 miles which was good. Not managed any exercise since then due to non-sleeping children and various other fairly decent excuses like OH being home late so not managing to get to pilates. Am going away for the night on Saturday with my oldest friend so need to do wii fitness coach today and tomorrow so that I can have some guilt-free wine!

Have been eating fairly well - no snacks, 3 veggie meals so far, trying to watch portion sizes and one glass of wine since Saturday. Scales had better show a bit of change tomorrow!

clankypanky · 28/01/2010 13:30

Yay, Im not alone! 3 miles is fantastic!I really hope the scales are showing some change for you, it sounds like you deserve it. Ive got a months worth of Alli, it really is the fear that is stopping me from eating fat. I'll see how it goes, you cant take it for more than 6 months anyway. I must admit I was quite scared to take it but Ive tried so much and think this may help, if it doesnt then I'll just have to try something else.

robino · 29/01/2010 08:05

-4lbs

Got cajoled into sharing a bottle of wine by OH last night though - with me and him! So, none tonight with super healthy food. Wii this afternoon with kids in tow. And a lovely night away from it all tomorrow!

Any other weigher-inners?

clankypanky · 29/01/2010 14:03

ive put on 2lbs again, I genuinely dont understand and think what is the point in putting in all of this effort, there is something wrong with my useless body, ive been pushing myself with exercise even though im knackered, have been taking alli, have been eating 1200 cals or less a day, have had no chocolate, fat, pasta, alcohol. am depressed, just had 2 fillings as well so wont be eating anything for the rest of the day, am off to cry....

well done robino, very proud of you x

robino · 29/01/2010 14:20

Clanky - does it take a while for your body to catch up IYSWIM? Don't have time right now to check back how long you've been super healthy eating but maybe, if you started this week, then it will show up more next week?

And don't forget about the old "muscle weighs more than fat" adage. Have you been taking measurements or do you have some tight clothes to try on and measure any changes in your body shape?

Don't give up. One bad weigh in does not a disaster make (or something like that ). I will not let you give up until at least two more disastrous weigh-ins when you've been trying really hard. And even then you'll have to fight me to give up - I'll stalk you

onehotmama · 29/01/2010 15:58

Hi all. Stayed the flippin same this week. So irritating when you work hard and it doesn't show.
Well done on those that have lost.

sweetboysmum · 29/01/2010 19:55

Hi, I'm a bit late in weighing in, well a week actually. Have a valid reason though. Had a trip to the inlaws last Friday and the weekend/week fom hell. This involved all 3 of us getting gastroenteritis and 2 hospital trips with ds. We're all fine now though.

Am very impressed with the motivation you all have. You seem to be getting lots of exercise in and doing well on the food front. Well done! Two weeks ago I weighed in at 12st 5lbs and this morning I weighed 12st 3/4lbs. So that's a 4 1/4 lbs loss in 2 weeks. Suppose the illness gave this a boost though.

dh has lost heaps more than me during the last 2 weeks and is on track to win the 'reward' for losing a stone first - we'll see about that!

mummymels · 02/02/2010 21:14

Sorry not been around much clanky but I haven't been on the computer much since my op last week. Good luck with the new diet - it sounds as if it is going really well and the exercise too. I really should be doing some too but I keep saying that! Please don't be disheartened. As you've been doing so well, it is bound to catch up with you soon and you'll hav a really big loss in one week.

Robino - running club sounds great and the food sounds great too. I hope you had a lovely weekend away. 4lbs loss is fantastic, well done.

onehotmama - maybe it will catch up with you next week too.

sweetboysmums - what a nightmare with you all getting gastroenteritis and what a shame if it spoilt your weekend away. I hope you're all on the mend now. Great weight loss by the way.

I spoke to my Go Lower counsellor today and she said that soon I will be able to start making my own lo carb meals which I am quite looking forward to. The Go Lower ones are lovely but I am also looking forward to trying out some of the recipes mentioned on here. Tonight I've had the Go Lower Navarin of Lamb and I made some garlic brocolli to go with it and it was lovely.
