well done on the walk/run connie I was going to go for a run yesterday as I had to drop DS1 & 2 off at the secondary school for a holiday activity in the morning, and it is in the local fishing town, so I was going down the beach (and with it being before 10am I should have been able to park in the free parking easily) but DH didn'tget out of bed (told you he was being an arse yesterday), so I had to take DS3 too. We hit the charity shops instead, and I met my friends new step mum, who seems lovely, but I haven't told friend this as she is being a bit horrid atm (spiteful replies to emails etc, her problems are worse than anyone elses - I'm sure you know the type! doesn't help that my DS1 has outgrown her DS and doesn't want to hang round with him any more)

I know it's been discussed before and I have never answered, but I do notice joggers/runners when I'm out and about. I have to confess that it wasn't always the case, but when I notice them now I am .

I really hate going out. Luckily we never go anywhere as a couple, and I don't have friends other than chatting-at-school type mums (apart from bitchy friend who comes round nce in a while, gets blind drunk and turns nasty) so I escape it!

I GOT MY 1 STOEN AWARD!!!!!

Im dead chuffed! i lost 2 lbs making my total loss 1.1st!

I have been swimming a few times this week and had a lng walk up a big hill with the kids, i think it helped.
My boys are going to an Afircan Drumming course this morning so im going to hit the excersise bike while they are out.

It was mine and dps 7 year anniversary yesterday so i did have an Indian and an Ice Cream Fondue with a Bottle of Wine between us but it was one night and im back on plan today.

Welcome to all our new ladies.

Big hello to all our regulars. Haven't seen a few people around here much at the moment?

AuntieMaggie · 05/08/2009 11:23

Well done Tits!

Hello newbies and regulars.

Have been lurking but not saying much as been feeling very unmotivated. Had a bit of a rant in the sparkly place and feeling a bit better but losing weight does seem like a burden at the mo.

I'm going out on Friday - last time for about 5 or 6 weeks thank goodness because I don't drive and can't resist having "another" drink either! So hopefully going to kick some pounds after that!

Anybody got any nice salad recipes?

I made homemade coleslaw last night with ex light mayo - yummy and uses a lot less mayo than I thought it would. Also some pasta with pesto - only put a teaspoon in but still tastes nice and will help make my lunches a bit more interesting I hope!

ursulashipton · 05/08/2009 11:33

well done tits

I had pasta salad yesterday - diced peppers, celery, tomatoes, spring onion, cucumber, fresh green chilli and some sweetcorn mixed through cooked pasta. There were some recipes in the last mag I think, with beans and stuff in them.

hope you all have nice nights out.

I am finding it all hard work too atm. Am so tired, don't have time to get out walking, I really just want to sleep and aren't that bothered about eating.

alittlebitfat · 05/08/2009 13:22

Hello all, just joined SW today, have previously used WW but got v bored with it. It sounds a bit too good to be true at the moment, what would you say an average weekly loss is?

catrin · 05/08/2009 13:37

Hello!
Have been lurking on the SW threads for a while - have been going for a year- but am finding it hard to keep motivated at the mo so thought would lurk no more.
Nice to know others have bad days too!

MissShiraz · 05/08/2009 16:05

Hi, Thanks for the lovely welcomes and hello to any newbies!

I love salad and tend to have really weird combinations. I love King Prawn and boiled egg (i really like Egg Mayo (although i use creme fraiche now, with chives and king prawns in a roll now)
Prawn and Mango, or chicken and Mango it lovely too.
Chicken and Bacon, Gammon Pineapple and Cheese, New Potatoes, tuna and sweetcorn. Greek Salad (feta cheese, cucumber, red onion, olives if you want to use syns or even like them, with fat juicy ripe tomatoes) i often serve it with salmon or lamb.

Today we are having Chilli Con Carne for Dinner - mmm cannot wait. I quite like EE, but find it difficult as i use a HI FI Bar at night as a treat (choc orange are my faves) so i have a sarnie i then have to use syns for a nightly treat.

For lunch today i had a Mug Shot as our Consultant has been raving about them and i have to say it was disgusting - 2 syns down the pan!! It was the creamy cheese pasta one and smelt like sick (sorry but it was horrendous) i tend not to eat or buy packets or jars and make everything from scratch! I think i'll stick to that - lol

I too have no self control when it comes to drinking, no matter how good my intentions are....lmao! If i go out it's usually only with dp, only have colleagues as friends, the rest have all dispersed miles away with new lives and partners..

Guess waht Mark brought home wine last night so true to form i drank it! He's been told off and now wine is now allowed over my doorstep!

I've planned my meals for this week so here goes:

Today: (HORRIBLE) Mug Shot, Chilli Con Carne (ee)
Thursday: SW Quiche, Roast Beef and Veggies (red)
Friday: Cheese and Mushroom Pasta, Lamb Biryani (ee)
Saturday: Salmon Fillet and Salad, Homemade Burgers (red)
Sunday: Roast Pork for Lunch, Tina and Cheese Toasty for dinner
Monday: Tuna Pasta Bake or Spaghetti Carbonara

I have fruit and yoghurt for brekkie every day and on Saturday i'll probably have Bacon and egg for Brekkie or Omelette.

MissShiraz · 05/08/2009 16:07

Apologies for typing there, Gabriel is on my lap! x

Oh and i'm not having Tina in my toastie, i'm having TUNA!

ursulashipton · 05/08/2009 23:13

tuna/tina is a common typing error for me as it's one of my aka's!

IMO the cheesy pasta and the sweet and sour noodle mugshots are revolting. The tomato pasta is very like cup a soup so OK, and the chicken noodle probably the best.

huge pizza from asda and bottle of very nice wine for tea here, and had to slum it with doritos and salsa as no thai sweet chilli sensations (our nearest asda is about an hour away and we usually drop in for a quick shop when we've visited MIL!) Am not being very god today, have totally lost momentum this week. will try again tomorrow but it will have to be EE as have homemade lasagne for tea. I'm sure it will have more veg than meat in it though. I did use full fat milk in the white sauce though as I made a couple of foil-trays worth for DHs DD (thinking the full fat milk calcium would be goos for her) and also the milk was reduced to 10p a pint in te village shop, I'm a sucker for a bargain!

I think I should probably make a goal for this week of a maintain

DHs b'day tomorrow. If he suggests naughty food I'm not going to refuse, it wouldn't be fair

ursulashipton · 05/08/2009 23:14

bugger, forgot to buy more alpen light - they are very nice with a cup of tea mid-afternoon (so long as I don't start nibbling til the tea is poured)

ursulashipton · 06/08/2009 13:19

DH obviously felt it was time I was back on the wagon. He made me fruit salad for breakfast. Have also had beans on toast and some pasta salad (and then nearly threw it all up again when DS1 was telling me the instructions for looking after his friends fish, and how we HE has to scoop them out with a net if they die.)

Connie - are Monsoon sizes small then?

TitsalinaBumsquash · 06/08/2009 13:22

Just made some lovely Thai Pork Burgers - yummers!

I have been sticking to plan but esting so bloody much i think i may have gained already! I hade a Huge Steak and Boiled Potatos (HEB) last night.

Pork Burgers and Salad tonight for me.

I really like the Alpen Light Bars especially the Chocolate Fugde ones, and you get 2 for a HEB rather than 1 HiFi bar.

ursulashipton · 06/08/2009 13:28

haven't had the choc fudge ones, Dsis is binging me some choc orange today (she lives in town near a big supermarket, I live in the back of beyond), will have to try.

found a recipe for marinating lamb kebabs in harissa. don't like lamb myself, but it may be of use to someone to know that's a good flavour combo.

also found a SW cookbook I'd bought and forgotten about last night when digging out the Gordon Ramsey book I bought for DHs birthday. might have a read tonight.

ConnieComplaint · 06/08/2009 21:24

Hi everyone

Had 1lb off last night Am happy enough with that considering I drank my weight in vodka on Sunday night... and had some naughty snacks too!!

Am going out for a meal with my sisters on Sat night so will try to pick the most sw friendly thing on menu. (good intentions and all that though!!)

Ria, not sure if Monsoon dresses are all small fitting, but they are on me and my 4 sisters!! two of whom are size 8 normally and the other two 10 & 12... the sized 12 sister couldn't zip a 14 on her last Friday & she was gutted, especially as she has lost 1 stone recently!

WELL DONE TITS Excellent

ursulashipton · 06/08/2009 22:47

well done connie

I was fancying a monsoon dress for the wedding (from ebay of course) but I shan't bother!

I got into size 22 jeans today (old ones out of my wardrobe, bought from a charity shop - bound to have shrunk) they fitted lovely round my bum and thighs, sadly my stomach didn't agree, but I still got them fastened!

I wish I could get 100% motivation back.

AuntieMaggie · 07/08/2009 12:36

Aww ria

I felt like this earlier in the week and the end of last week. I made myself try hard though - made coleslaw and pasta salad (pasta with tsp pesto and fresh basil) and made an experimental lunch with them and salad (including chopped raw runner beans and carrot) and a few days of eating like that and doing a bit of exercise has helped me feel a bit better.

Why not try a couple of new SW friendly recipes or make up your own - if they go well I sometimes find it helps.

Or treat yourself to something that makes you feel good about yourself. New underwear, haircut, outfit, night out, etc. Whatever makes you happy.

I haven't dared try any of my size 22 stuff yet but I'm going to have to soon as my work trousers aren't going to stay up much longer.

Well done Connie on your loss.

I maintained this week but am happy because I had a naughty weekend and so now I know that the food that I've been enjoying the past few days is healthy and works.

FairLadyRantALot · 07/08/2009 13:55

Hi All,
am ready to rejoin you lot
Not sure if anyone remembers me...
I will do the SW plan, but not go to classes, as we simply haven't got the money, and once the summer is over and I am back at Uni I won't have spare time for some such things, lol!
I have just returned from Holiday yesterday....we were in Germany, visiting my Family and Friends and this meant eating lots...it got ridiculous really, because, of course everyone meant well and wanted to spoil us when we visited, that meant feast after feast, lol!
Dh and I both said we are looking forward to eating healthier again...

I put myself on my scales today and it wasn't as horrid as I thought it may be, lol, but wasn't great neither, of course...I am now 72.5Kg/11.5st at a height of 5'6
I would like to at least get down to nearer the 10 st. mark and than go from there...

So far I am doing good today

Oh, and I will also be aiming to have 10 portions of fruit and vegetable rather than 5. And as off next week I will also try to work out and move more...for the weekend etc...it will be exercise through housework, lol...my mum is coming on Monday and I got to get the house cleaned up, lol!

Sorry for the long rambling post, lol!
Hope everyone is doing well!

FairLadyRantALot · 07/08/2009 13:57

Oh, and despite the long rambling post I still have forgotten to ask my questions, lol...typical...

firstly if my scales show, as in my case 11.5 does that mean 11st 5Ibs or not?

Does anyone have a Thousand Island style Dressing SW-recipe???

FairLadyRantALot · 07/08/2009 14:15

grinningbee, a good way to get dairy into you is through those syn free yoghurts....

ursulashipton · 07/08/2009 16:04

hi fairlady, I think I remember you from SW threads (I used to be RiaButterflew, and other Ria names). what is thousand island dressing usually made of? good luck

Another rubbish day here the boys were invited to a friends for a "picnic lunch" (to which I wasn't allowed to take any food!), and it was a lovely spread of salad, ham, cheese and crusty bread. I tried to only eat a tiny bit, but am now starving and have had biscuits! No idea what we're having for tea, DH working all weekend so don't know when I'll do a big shop.

I seem to be a bit stessed today and there's no need to be

FairLadyRantALot · 07/08/2009 16:12

well...if only I could remember, lol....

ursula, the salad part and ham part sounds alright....the bikkies later...hmm...you sound just like me...
saying that, so far so good...
but it is only day one....

FairLadyRantALot · 07/08/2009 16:14

oh and I remember you

FairLadyRantALot · 07/08/2009 17:33

well...I had a peek at normal thousand island sauce recipes and made up my own sw version...and it came out quite nicely...

Thousand Island Dressing the SW way:
2 level tblsp. Hellman's Extra light Mayonaise
2 level tbsp low fat natural Yoghurt
2 level tblsp Ketchup

skimmed Milk from HE allowance ( to thin the dressing to desired consistency

Woucestersauce, Salt, pepper and paprika to taste

2 1/2 syns the lot, will dress a decent sized salad...

kmummy · 07/08/2009 21:14

Hey girls, im a newbie, just joined SW last night weighing in at 12st5lb, have a target of 10st which i want to get to before a trip to Vegas next April

I bf my 5month old baby, and do worry it may effect my supply but have been assured it doesnt.

Just a quick hi, and look forward to getting your advice and tips in the near furture....heres a quick one, is light mayo free or a syn - thanx!

ursulashipton · 07/08/2009 22:35

hi Kmummy. The SW extras for BF are pretty generous, if you feel you are lacking have bananas! (I tried and failed to combined BF & SW, but that's just me, loadsof people seem to do it ok)

fairlady, that's pretty much what I would have said, in my thinking that thousand island is more or less a marie rose with finely diced celery, pepper, carrot & onion added. there's prawn cocktail recipe in the new cookbook I found in my "present stash", and the dressing is -

6 tbspn extra light mayo
2 tbspn passata
tabasco
juice of 1 lemon
100g very low fat natural fromage frais
salt & pepper

presumably only 1 syn per serving as that is the syn value given for a red day, for the whole recipe including prawns.

I believe tesco do a bottled salald cressing that could be free - it's a healthy living one - tomato and something (that is word of mouth from a friend, have never looked it up as I didn't like it)
