Hi all, just back from my hour of spin class.. I think I may need lifted out of bed tomorrow morning!

Well done on the weightloss Lily & Fuzz!

I have WI tomorrow night & for some reason I feel huge. Even though I haven't been bad all week...I used my syns for sauces & gravy etc but on nothing 'bad' unless you count a bag of walkers french fries tomorrow night.

Do you all have a blow out on WI night? Or are you all little angels?

dazmum · 19/05/2009 20:19

Kid, here is the veg curry: serves 4. 1 syn per serving on a green day.
2 lbs potatoes
2 carrots 4 courgettes
2 red onions 3 celery sticks
1/2 head each of broccoli and cauliflower
fry light
2 level tbsp curry paste
2 garlic cloves
440g can chopped tomatoes
4 oz peas
3 handfuls of spinach
6 cloves
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp chilli powder
5 cardamom pods

Peel and chop potatoes, carrots and onions, chop celery, courgettes, broccoli and cauli.
Heat the fry light and saute the curry paste, celery and onion. Crush the garlic, add to pan and stir fry for 3 minutes.
Add the spuds, cook for 2 mins then add tomatoes and remainignveg, 85ml water and the spices. Cook on low heat till tender.

I added a bit more curry paste, so might be another syn, but I like it to taste of curry, suppose it depends on what kind of curry paste you use! Hope you like it!

dazmum · 19/05/2009 20:29

Just read some of the other posts, I am the same with bread, especially wholemeal! If you feel bloated and horrible try peppermint tea - looks like river water, doesn't taste too bad, but it really works.

My WI is tomorrow night, I had a week off last week as it was DS's birthday, so I had a Chinese and chocolate cake, but I have been quite good since, so I'm hoping for a maintain at least.

Bought some quorn mince and 'chicken' pieces as I've never tried it. What should I expect, does it taste like mince or chicken?

Lilyloo · 19/05/2009 20:39

fuzzy well done you ]grin]

Connie i would usually have a more relaxed night following wi but as i go away on Fri am trying to be good until then!!

ConnieComplaint · 19/05/2009 20:44

Great, are you off anywhere nice?

We head off on June 3 & I really want to lose in the two weeks leading up 'til then!

I've been sorting through my clothes & I'm sure I have enough to take with me... it's only a camp site in France FGS, how many items of clothing will I need??

kid · 19/05/2009 20:51

Thanks for the recipe dazmum, just need to get some more vegetables then I can give it a go. Will leave it till Saturday I think so I can spend some time in the kitchen.

I have just finished eating my 4syn chocolate cake (which takes 1 minute in the microwave)
Its not as good as the real thing, but very good for a healthy chocolate fix!

Lilyloo · 19/05/2009 21:41

Hopefully , mobile home in France
lot's of cheese , wine and bread all syn free

TitsalinaBumsquash · 19/05/2009 23:32

3lbs off for me this week, Im happy with it but last time i did SW i lost 7lbs in my first week.

I have discovered my problem though, i have been using Olive Oil dressings on my salad thinking it wasn't a lot of syns but its actually 6 per tbsp - oops!

I won the weekly Fruit and Veg basket though which was really good also have a Riverford Fruit and Veg delivery tommorrow morn though so im going to be over run with Greens.

I am deffinatley going to do more red days this week, i like Green but i have been really bloated and have had stomach ache.

Really glad i rejoined, its only 3lbs off but already my self confidence is boosted which DP is chuffed about (ehem )

TitsalinaBumsquash · 19/05/2009 23:43

Anyone know of a really nice Red day dinner?

Possibly a nice marinade or rub for pork or chicken? I have meat but all my marinades contain Olive Oil!

ProfYaffle · 20/05/2009 09:20

Dazmum - you get 2 types of Quorn beef style and chicken style, both are really mild tasting though (but not as bland as tofu) and need a robust sauce.

Tits - off the top of my head I can only think of a chinese style marinade, ie soy sauce, garlic, ginger, chilli or a tikki marinade but I'll keep an eye out in my cook books, see if there's anything else. My fave red day dinners are chicken wrapped in bacon, home made burgers and meatloaf. If you're into foraging I made Jack by the Hedge salsa verde to go with slow cooked chicken the other day, was delicious.

Connie - I imagined you'd need loads of clothes to go camping, what with getting rained on every 5 mins and needed to get changed. That's what camping's like isn't it???

MamaG · 20/05/2009 15:18

lol at tits

you've been boooooooooonking!

PMSL

TitsalinaBumsquash · 20/05/2009 17:37

Cheers for that MamaG!

Why is this thread so quiet today?

kid · 20/05/2009 18:03

I am about, still sticking to SW but am feeling so tired. I am obviously working too hard at work!

I still haven't wrote a menu out, I am just making it up as I go along so I am surprised I have not got it wrong already. Then again, today was only day 3 so its still early days.

jenk1 · 20/05/2009 21:31

kid · 20/05/2009 22:38

Excellent loss Jenk1.
I find that when I am ill, I eat convenience food and tend to lose nothing or even gain. Luckily I don't get ill that often.

Snorris · 20/05/2009 22:58

Hiya! WI too for me today - 2lb off . We had a 'taster' day, people were asked to bring in a low-syn or syn-free dish. Some very yummy ideas there, I made iced raspberry mousse which went down very well .

annoyingdevil · 20/05/2009 23:06

WI for me tomorrow. Boy, am I going to treat myself to a large glass of wine and a curry afterwards.

Does anyone else have a cheat meal after their weigh-in? Daren't mention that at the sparkly place though, they seem a bit hardcore.

Need fat, need chocolate, need alcohol

ProfYaffle · 21/05/2009 06:22

Well done on the losses everyone. I'm due to weigh myself on Friday but don't feel like I've lost anything, I'm feeling rather bloated which doesn't help and also still not running. Had an experimental jog the other day and my foot's improved but still sore.

Annoyingdevil - I don't have a cheat meal but I do make sure I have proper chocolate and alcohol through the week and, as I said before, rl tends to throw fatty meals my way on a regular basis! Know what you mean about toeing the line on the sparkly place though!

TitsalinaBumsquash · 21/05/2009 12:26

Hello every one.

Going ok today, im going to have Quorn Burgers for dinner (free) with SW chips and salad.
I love the Quorn burgers i used to be a taster for them!

I was at work today and my nan came in a tried plying me with bags of Walkers crisps i had to say no she looked a little heart broken, i had to take them to my sisters house so i wasn't tempted!

Well done to all with losses or those who have maintained.

ProfYaffle · 21/05/2009 14:11

You love Quorn burgers? Really? I wondered who bought them all, they're like coasters imho. I like the sausages and fillets though and I've just seen in the SW magazine (anyone else get stupidly excited when the new one's out?) that Quorn kievs are only 1 syn each so I might get some of those.

AuntieMaggie · 21/05/2009 16:26

OMG - you lot love to chat don't you

I've only been gone a few days and this thread is huge!

Anyways, I am off for WI this avo to see how much weight I have put on - I'm going to blame it on my period but we know it's really because of the girlie weekend and a weekful of meetings and stress!

I really need to find other coping mechanism for when I'm stressed and have loads to do etc instead of reaching for convenient rubbish food! Any ideas?

AuntieMaggie · 21/05/2009 18:23

Yay.... I maintained

ProfYaffle · 21/05/2009 20:10

Hoorah! Good for you. When you say stress affects your eating do you mean it's convenience you're after so don't cook, or reaching for crappy food to make you feel better?

I made cod and veggies in tamarind sauce with rice noodles tonight. Tamrind sauce was lovely (1.5 syns from Saucy Secrets, I'll post it if anyone's interested) the noodles were vile though. Never had medium rice noodles before, they were like actual living creatures and no amount of chewing made them go away.
