New thread as old kept crashing mine and tits' PCs!

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 25/06/2009 17:57

Oh bum. I forgot I was having a red day and somehow slipped into EE and am cooking pasta for tea. Waaaaah.

Rialentless · 25/06/2009 19:01

I have zero energy today, and now have to drag myself and 2 DCs to the shop to get cash as DS1 needs £15.50 for a school trip to the Yorkshire Show by tomorrow, and I can't rely on DH to remember on his way home

what can I buy to give me some oomph?

When I feel like this I lose all enthusiasm I did make low fat curry and rice for tea though.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 25/06/2009 19:25

I have discovered the joys of Low Fat Creme Freche (sp?) only 1 1/2 syns per tbsp i just baked some thinly sliced Butternu Squash with it dolloped on top and it was lush!

Also whisk it with Fructose and a drop of Vanilla and have it with fresh Raspberries.........

JUst had Chicken breast stuffed with Mushrooms/Spinach and Cheese wrapped in Parma Ham it was sooooooooooo nice.

ProfYaffle · 25/06/2009 20:02

I do know how you feel Ria, I've been lacking in enthusiasm recently. I think I need my culinary mojo re-igniting, I'm still scrabbling to find out how!

I salvaged the day by calling it EE, I'd only had one heb but 2 hea so I synned one of them. I'm sure you're all relieved to hear it!

Tits - while we're talking butternut squash, do you peel yours? I like bnut squash but hate peeling and chopping it. Actually you've reminded me of a recipe I used to use, roasted butternut squash, mashed with creme fraiche and chopped mint. Think I might try that over the weekend, it sounds quite summery doesn't it?

ProfYaffle · 25/06/2009 20:03

Oh, and, recipe for the chicken breast please

Dazmum · 25/06/2009 20:09

HiEvansmummy, the pasta is 100g boiled 35g dried.

The Extra Easy is supposed to be for the first few weeks I think, and then you can switch to green or red. Its useful if you are going out anywhere, but your weight loss will speed up if you move to just green and red. I have a pdf version of the booklet about it! If you want to let me have your email address, I'll send it to you. Mine is [email protected]

I maintained yet again this week,my own fault, but sick of seeing the same numbers coming up! So, several of us are doing a challenge, to eat five helpings of fruit or veg before we have any syns. Managed it quite easily today, and haven't had any syns so far which is unheard of!

Also, one of the others at group said that she allocates herself 80 syns for the whole week, and counts them down. She had found that if she exceeded her syn allowance each day, she'd think so what, I'll start again tomorrow, but by counting them down you make sure you don't have any more than the 80 for the week. Seemed to work for her.

slightlycrumpled · 25/06/2009 21:06

Hello, can I join you all please?

I started at slimming world today, I really need to lose at least two stone, but am feeling quite motivated at the moment.

I think I will follow the extra easy plan to begin with and see what happens, (hopefully lose lots of weight!) I am also going to try and go for a run tomorrow morning which I haven't done for ages and ages, hence the rather unattractive weight gain!

Good luck.

Snorris · 25/06/2009 22:26

Hello, it's me again . Yet again RL has been getting in the way .

Sorry to hear some of you haven't had such good weeks, well done to those who weigh less and hi to anyone who's new!!

I've still managed to lose 1lb over the last two weeks (maintained then lost). At least it's in the right direction. My biggest achievement though has been getting into a size 16 skirt . I hadn't realised my waist had shrunk so much , although I do still have the flabby bit below it!!

For those who don't like peeling butternut squash, Waitrose/Ocado do it ready prepared in the freezer section. I haven't actually tried it but a friend recommended it to me.

Before I go, what's the password please? I weighed and ran this week and I always forget to look when I do that.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 26/06/2009 08:02

I don't always peel mine prof, if you roast it the skin goes all caramlised and chewey, you don't have to deseed it either as raosted Squash seeds turn into little peanutty type things.

CHicken is easy, slice a little way into the chicken breast to make a pocket, stuff what you want in it, I did chopped mushrooms and some Spinach leaves and some cheese, then wrap with panchetta to cover the cut and bake in a preheated oven for about 30 mins on about 200.

I do mine 2 at a time and put them snugly into a small dish, then i thinly sliced the squash and put it round the chicken and put some dollops of creme freche on top (not on the chicken though) prinkled with smoked paprika, spray liberally with fry light and cook as above...

You can stuff them with anything and before stuffing them i usually toss them in some sort of hebs, Organo, Rosemary, Thyme with Salt and pepper.

Dazmum · 26/06/2009 10:07

Pass word this week is vanilla. Good luck Slightlycrumpled!

Definitely going to try your recipe Tits, sounds gorgeous! Think part of my trouble is that I eat the same things over again, so I am going to try some new recipes and see if it works.

oftenpurple · 26/06/2009 11:20

Hello,

Can I join in too? I've been doing SW for a year now but on and off. Of course, I haven't been getting the results I want. Anyway, am recommiting myself today.

Having a red day and doing really well so far

ProfYaffle · 26/06/2009 11:42

So you put the creme fraiche on before cooking it? Interesting, I've never done that, I assumed you mean dolloping it on as a topping once cooked, what does it turn out like?

I'm feeling slightly smug as I went for a 6.30am swim this morning. Wi tomorrow, am v nervous.

Hello slightlycrumpled and oftenpurple!

LovingTheRain · 26/06/2009 11:51

I joined slimming world this week too. I am doing the Extra Easy plan. Can't believe normal baked beans are free!!

Plus potatoes, pasta and lean meat etc. My slimming world consultant said you can each as much as you like of the extra easy free foods like pasta and still loose weight. Is this really the case???

AuntieMaggie · 26/06/2009 11:58

Makes me feel tired just thinking about your 6.30 swim! I used to love doing that before I got fat!

Dazmum and Evans I haven't heard anything about extra easy only being for the first few weeks - we have people that have lost stones by following extra easy plan in our group and our consultant raves about it.

Anyone else heard that?

I lost half a pound this week which wasn't bad considering the rubbish I've had this week.

That chicken recipe sounds yummy Tits - will def be trying it this weekend!

ProfYaffle · 26/06/2009 13:43

AM - the dds have us up at 6am, we don't need to leave for school til 8.30am so dh and I decided we'd start making use of the time, now we take it turns to either go swimming, running or have a lie in! My fav part is having a spa after my swim, it's so nice to be sitting there at 7.15am knowing all the exercise for the day is out of the way.

What I've heard re EE is because it's -well - easy, it's recommended for newbies til they're more familiar with the rules. Some people seem to love it, though I've seen discussion on the sparkly place (link for the new people on the thread) where people say they dont' lose as much as sticking to red/green.

ProfYaffle · 26/06/2009 15:05

Btw, has anyone got a recipe for sw friendly potato salad?

Dazmum · 26/06/2009 17:10

You can do EE for as long as you like, but it says in the introduction to it 'EE makes your first few weeks of food optimising even easier...week after exciting week you can enjoy the extra freedom of EE. We'll monitor your weight loss as you reduce in size and help you choose when to switch to our Original or Green choice, if you feel you need to speed up your weight loss' (but it is easier to follow, and I like being able to have rice with a curry - that's what I mainly use it for!)

Yes, LovingTheRain, that really is the case, Good luck!

TitsalinaBumsquash · 26/06/2009 18:38

Im just back from myoperation, im here to extract sympathy from you all.

I had a Maccy D's for dinner, im not bothered im in paaaaaiiiinnnnnn!

Op went well though.

fuzzypeach · 26/06/2009 20:13

hey tits, glad the op went well - hope you are feeling better soon!

im aching as I did a really big workout yesterday followed by a swim (im not usually very good at exercising much!) then after a long day at work on my feet all day i went to the gym tonight, so if i dont lose any weight this week (after 4 trips to the gym!) i will not be impressed!!

ProfYaffle · 26/06/2009 20:36

Hope you're feeling better soon Tits

slightlycrumpled · 26/06/2009 21:42

Hi, tits hope you are soon on the mend, glad it went well though.

I have been almost saintly today and made the curry out of the extra easy booklet tonight. It was actually really nice although I added a few extra spices.

Good luck to everyone this weekend. I shouldn't have too many problems sticking to the plan this weekend as DH has gone to cub camp with DS1, so I won't be swayed by my foodie husband, plus will be too anxious about my PFB being away to be hungry......maybe.

LetThemEatCake · 27/06/2009 11:15

hi there ... I started another thread but someone suggested I post on this one ... I'm looking to limit my weight gain in the last 12 weeks of pregnancy as I've already gained as much as I'm comfortable with ... I wanted to join SW online but gather you have to already be a member and THEN get pg, you can't join when already pg. So I'm wondering if it;s bad to not tick the box that admits to being pg and if so, what adjustments would I need to make to my eating plan?

many thanks

evansmummy · 27/06/2009 19:47

Well my first weeks efforts went to pot, as i knew they would, weekends are the worst. back on it tomorrow i guess.

EE sound fascinating, anyone able to give me the basics? I love the idea of rice with a curry! That would also mean a decent amount of spaghetti with a bolognese!

Thanks for the weights, 35g of pasta is nothing

fuzzypeach · 27/06/2009 20:42

LetThemEatCake - I think the only difference to the plan when you are pg is that you get extra HE's.

I'm really craving some chocolate today so im going to eat a lot of fruit to try to curb my sweet tooth.

is it possible to eat too much fruit and sabbotage weight loss?

LovingTheRain · 27/06/2009 22:07

Can anyone explain flexi syns to me please? >. I was under the impression that it meant you could eat your normal syns but have extra on top?? I am worried about doing that so have been saving my syns. Is that allowed, Can you save up syns??(We have a party tomorrow and have saved up 25 syns from the past few days so i can have a slice of cake tomorrow).

TIA
