Rialentless · 22/06/2009 22:32

thanks jenny, sadly have completey buggered it this week what with birthday food and star week. But I can do it.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 22/06/2009 22:36

Well done everyone.

Im not looking forward to wiegh in tommorrw, i went out for dinner tonight, i really did have a lovely time, but i did have chocolate pudding..... and Garlic Bread (not together!) i have a long walk ahead of me tommorrow maybe that will balance it out

kid · 22/06/2009 22:56

I have been sitting here tonight and have been craving any food at all. I wouldn't even say I was hungry, just fancy eating something so instead I had a cup of tea. It seems to have done the trick for now, but I think I should go to bed before my strong will disappears!

For those that haven't been doing so well sticking to plan, tomorrow is another day, don't let the whole week be a disaster.

JennyPenny22 · 23/06/2009 08:24

kid - when I get days like that, I just go to bed!

TitsalinaBumsquash · 23/06/2009 08:45

In on plan today and im going to have a good week.

Im having surgery on my Wrist on Friday so can't eat all morning anyway. lol

Its hard, becasue its nearing the end of the month, i have no money and bugger all food in the house! No yoghurts no Light Laughing Cows, no Baked Beans, no Quorn...... its pretty dismal.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 23/06/2009 08:46

Gah, this looooonnnnggggg thread is begining to crash my PC again!

tammybear · 23/06/2009 09:23

Hello! I've just joined Slimming World yesterday. Very excited! Hoping that feeling will last longer lol.

I have a question though. I have worked out what I'm having today, green for me today, but I was looking through the cereals that are listed on the healthy extras part, and they do not have crunchy nuts down, so do I count this as a syn instead? Thanks!

ProfYaffle · 23/06/2009 20:56

Well, I'm back in the saddle after my weekend of food crime! Am finding it hard though. When I'm on an even keel I have regular treats of wine, choc etc but within syns. I've had 2 full on weekends and as a result have tried to have zero syns in the weeks inbetween but that's starting to make me feel all deprived, even though I've had loads of cake and cider (blush) over the last few days.

I'm also getting bored with my usual sw stand by recipes so I need to get my head in some cook books and rejuvenate my menu.

ConnieComplaint · 23/06/2009 21:35

Yes, Tammybear, (welcome by the way!) you would have to count the crunchy nut as syns. (none of my business but if you changed to 2 weetabix it would be a HE & I find weetabix keep me fuller for longer?) Or some scrambled egg with bacon which would be free on an original or EE day?

Prof, I find it hard too if I deprive myself of syns... but at the other end of the scale I do have some days where I go wayy over my allowance so have to pull it back another day by having none.

Today not too bad food wise, had a BBQ... also one glass of west coast cooler which I felt I couldn't confess to on the sparkly place.....

Rialentless · 23/06/2009 22:15

2lb on today, but have only myself to blame. Had the most gorgeous fish and chips for lunch, so now I've had a treat I am back to it tomorrow. Green days I think as I have to create meals for tomorrow and Thurs out of pretty much what we have in the cupboards/freezer. Might have harissa roasted root veg and potatoes tomorrow, then can just do some green veg and chicken with it for the boys.

fuzzypeach · 23/06/2009 22:57

I am feeling very smug after losing 5lbs this week (of my 9lbs holiday weight gain) have managed to stick to it all week, without many cravings, but got my you-know-what today so am now absolutely dying for some chocolate

Do you think you can eat too much fruit and end up putting weight on due to the sugar content? I am eating bowl fulls of fruit every day to stop me from straying towards the chocolate cupboard!!

fuzzypeach · 23/06/2009 23:13

Just been reading back - sorry to hear about your nephew connie, and the explosion down your road, jenny, also hope your tooth isnt too painful, sounds horrible! i bet you lose a lot of weight again this week though if you have toothache (i try to see the positives lol)

TitsalinaBumsquash · 23/06/2009 23:15

I lost half a pound!!!!! Im am so not sure where i lost it to though, i have had 3 days off!
Oh well its still a loss which is great.

I am the same as you Prof i need to stick my self into gear and get my bum into actually planning some meals and sticking to it, i find it o easy to get in a rut.

My friend who i met at the SW group i attend has lost 5st and she has been going 3 yrs and she swears her sucsess is because on her first day she brought a pretty little noetbook and pen and she is religious about writing down every single thing that has passed her lips each day, then she adds her Syns up and even gives herself a smiley face or a cross depending on how she has done.

I think i might try it, i have given up on Sparkles R'Us its just to much faff logging on to write out one of thier food diarys each day, although i do sneak on to hae a look at other peoples diarys to get insparation, especailly on Red days which i struggle with.

ProfYaffle · 24/06/2009 06:45

Have to admit I used to be religious about writing my food diary until the last couple of weeks. My mission for today is going to be sorting out some new recipes and doing a food diary again.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 24/06/2009 08:20

I have been looking through my SW cookbooks but notihgs inspires me.......

ProfYaffle · 24/06/2009 09:12

The weather makes a difference I find, I'm short of summer ideas.

Still exercising religiously though, you could crack walnut with my thighs!

evansmummy · 24/06/2009 11:29

Hi All

I did SW a couple of years ago, got down to target and then stopped going to meetings. The inevitable happened and weight has slowly been going back, so thought i'd hop back on the SW regime for a few weeks before the holidays.

Thing is, I can't afford to go to meetings, so was wondering if you wouldn't mind helping me out with some quantities, my book would be way out of date, and besides, I can't find it!

If that's ok, can anyone tell me the HE meaures for brown pasta and rice, new potatoes, turkey breast and mince, and beef mince, please.

Also would it be ok to pop in from time to time to ask questions / get help? I know the meetings really helped me last time, so popping in here might replace?

Good luck, anyway, with your weight losses, it's a lifelong struggle, isn't it?!

AuntieMaggie · 24/06/2009 12:44

Will write more when I get chance (hopefully tomorrow night) but for now:

Prof - we had pork chops and chicken breasts in a marinade last night, cooked on the BBQ with a packet of batchelors savoury rice and jacket potato wedges - was gorgeous. Could do it with cous cous. I also last week put some cous cous in a pepper put some cheese on top and shoved in it the oven. As we eat a lot of salad in the summer I try to liven things up meatwise. Not sure how many syns the marinade I used was but there are loads out there.

Tits - I sneak a peek at other people's diaries too to get inspiration - atm I'm tryin to keep up with my food diary on there!

ProfYaffle · 24/06/2009 14:30

Thanks AM. Good idea btw, why don't we all list our stand by dishes, we may be stuck in a rut with them but other people may see something new?

For lunch at the moment I'm having salad leaves with ham, apple, sw free mayo, grated cheese and 2 ryvita. It's surprisingly filling.

I'm doing my lamb meatloaf again tonight but have changed the spices, am using ras al hanou (sp? sorry) and dried mint. Going to serve it with roasted veg and minted yoghurt.

We've also gone crazy on spag bol, usually as Saturday tea while watching you've been framed.

If anyone has any ideas for veg side dishes to go with the meat on a red day I'd like to hear them. My stand bys are, cabbage and bacon cooked in bovril and leeks slowly cooked in vecon with a he of stilton stirred through at the last minute.

Dazmum · 24/06/2009 17:09

Hi all, and welcome Evansmummy! I am also a returned target member with some to lose than just crawled back on to me and stuck.I think I will have to do SW for ever!I did try doing it by myself, but failed, its the threat of getting weighed each week seems to work for me. Also I didn't know about MN and there's a lot of people who can help and support here.

From the new book HEs
on an orignal day 100g wholemeal pasta
198 g new potatoes with skin on,

on a green day beef mince extra lean raw 85grams cooked 71g
113g raw 71 g turkey

But there is now Extra Easy where you can combine the free foods from red and green!
Think someone else on this thread described it somewhere.

I am hanging around on here as I have to leave to weigh in soon, and its stopping me wandering round the houselooking for food as I am quite hungry.Does anyone else treat themselves to something nice when they get back from weighing and then start again tomorrow? I am just craving a humble bit of bread at the moment!

Rialentless · 24/06/2009 18:31

I think a treat after weigh-in is a treat well deserved

veg ideas, hmm, you know mine - root veg roasted in harissa, I did red cabbage with red onion once, it looks revolting but tasted OK.

the veggie jambalaya is nice too (recipe on website) I think one of the recent mags had an EE version with chicken in it.

I do the smiley face thing when I've had a good day too, must also get more efficient with keeping a food diary...

LovingTheRain · 24/06/2009 19:00

I joined slimming world today and have been advised to follow the 'extra easy plan' Is it really as easy as it looks?

Plus, i wondered if anyone knows how many syns an actimel strawberry drink is!

AuntieMaggie · 25/06/2009 11:19

my blood sugar has dropped and I'm shaking

I forgot that sugar does this to me when I had a coffee this morning and added normal sugar instead of fructose!

Just had 2 bananas and some melon to try and bring it back up without having chocolate or coke - hope it doesn;t come to that

TitsalinaBumsquash · 25/06/2009 13:51

Not doing to badly this past few days, i have found the HiFi bars seem to really fill me up and the last couple of days i have grabbed one for breakfast on the run and haven't felt hungry untill about 1pm.

Im having Cheese and Spinach stuffed Chicken Breast with Roasted Squash for dinner.

My fall back meals are always Eggs! Free on both days.

Egg and Chps, Omlette or Poached Egg on Toast.

Also have a lot of Salads with eiter Ham on Red or Jacket Potato and Cheese on Green.

I also do Quorn Curry and Rice on a Green day or Quorn Chilli.

Red days are mostly Meat in some sort of Marinade with Steamed Veg and a synned protion of Rice or CousCous or HEB Potatoes.

evansmummy · 25/06/2009 16:10

Thanks for that Dazmum. Would those be cooked or dry weights?

Have tried to have alook on tis thread for the EE plan but no luck, will do a search and see if it comes up elsewhere, if not can you lay it out for me?

My fallbacks are always meatballs (no breadcrumbs) with HE portion rice/pasta, or with salad, bean and med veg casserole with HE chicken/turkey, stir fries... I'm not so good with completely free meals, I just find them dull! Any ideas welcome though!!
