I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

Hello - been a bit rubbish at writing on here again.

Hope everyone who is broken is on the mend. Congrats for the losers - keep going for everyone else (better the same or slightly more than steady growth).

Had a pretty good week. Lost 1.5lb at weigh in on Monday (only 1lb for my stone). DH been away all week so not been bothering to do much for tea, he's away all weekend so fingers crossed for a good loss on Monday.

Haven't done any exercise - can't get back into the frame of mind to do it in the evening. Saying that I'm going western riding tomorrow (al la cowboy style) will use muscles not used for a very long time I should think.

Currently watching mama mia - not getting what all the fuss is about.

Hi All

Well done on your weight loss Loler. Nice one!

Madhairday: I find that following a plan is the only way I can lose weight. I had a bit of success with WW in the past but I was allowed more points back then. This time round I was working with 17 points a day and when you consider they allow you around 2 points for a medium sized banana you can see how I struggled. It is a decent plan though if you like all of the things that are free on it. I didn't go to a group, which may have helped me. I don't know.

Current one is Slimming World and I've joined a group with that one. Once you figure out the Green and Original days and what's free etc, it's fairly straightforward and there seems to be less weighing going on, (but more cooking as opposed to relying on the odd WW ready meal). The group gives me that extra encouragement to stick to it as all losses and gains are read out and discussed!

Of the two, Slimming World feels healthier as I'm doing more cooking from scratch and there's less room for sugary snacks. DD who is four and a half loves all of the recipes I do but I do also let her have her favourite kids meals, (nuggets, chips etc) now and again, as they're easy to bung in the oven while I'm working away at the hob. Did a stir fry last night with a selection of veggies and some noodles and some quorn chicken-like pieces. That was all free food. I felt stuffed afterwards so wasn't raking around for snacks later on.

Today I'm having my first original day, so just off to have grilled bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and a couple of eggs done in fry light. All free! May have a quorn sausage sandwich for lunch, (sausages are free, bread is a "healthy extra" so restricted to two slices of wholemeal). Tea will probably be steak, (free), veg, (free) and SW chips, (the second healthy extra). I can snack on fruit and muller lite yogurts all day til they come out of my ears plus if I fancy anything else I can have them as "Syns", up to 15 - (a cadbury chocolate finger is 1.5 syns).

lilolilmanchester · 27/04/2009 14:04

just popping in to say hello and delighted to see this thread is still going. I'm going to try AGAIN to motivate myself to lose weight, so many of you are doing really well that it's given me a kick up the bum. Am 11stone 12 at the mo. Don't really have the time to go to a class, but am thinking this might be the only solution. I bought a slimming world book at the weekend, but it doesn't have all the info about syns/free foods, so maybe I will join if only to get the extra info. Keep going folks!

Where's everyone gone? I was expecting a huge long thread that I would have to catch up with! COME BACK LOSERS (meant in the nicest possible way!)

Just come on to be a bit smug - have lost 4lb this week! Was expecting a good loss as DH was away all week and weekend so couldn't be bothered to cook much. have lost a grand total of 17lbs now (another 1lb for 10% goal). Well that's enough of me being smug - celebrated with half a tub of mini oreos (yum!).

Currently have very achey legs and bottom after my ride. Was completely fantastic and would reccommend to anyone who can ride. Am now saving up for my own ranch horse (DH says I can have one!) - just need to get dc into horses so they won't moan about hanging around stables!

lilolilmanchester · 27/04/2009 23:04

Wow, that's amazing loler, well done! Are you still doing WeightWatchers? Am thinking I need to sign up for something like that if I can't get myself going (4 months after trying!)

Hi everyone. I'm absolutely whacked after a set of very stressful nightshifts which make me wonder why I do the job that I do. It's been so bad that I'm not the only one who has finished their shift in tears. Much comfort food has been consumed over the last few nights. Dairy Milk chocolate and endless bags of crisps are the only things which kept me going. However all this is making me appreciate my days off even more. So I'll put it to the back of my head and try not to think about it.

Wow, gold star goes to loler for massive amount of weight lost. I've been dieting since January and have only lost 2lbs. So your achievement is colossal. Well done Bet your feeling great...and looking great too. I'd love to be able to horse ride. I started taking lessons a couple of years ago but couldn't afford to keep it up so it all fell by the wayside. But I do miss it though. Hope your bum isn't too bruised!

Allover, your SW diet sounds great. I'm so glad you've found a plan that is more suited to you and isn't making you miserable. Given that my own weightloss is non existent I may delve into the wonderful world of SW myself. This trying to eat healthy approach just isn't working for me at all, inspite of my increased activities. Oh and I haven't had any vino/alcohol in a week. >

It's great to see you back. We missed you.

lilolilmanchester · 28/04/2009 13:39

upagumtree, don't be too hard on yourself. You've still lost 2lbs this year inspite of all the crisps and chocolate - so you must be doing something right otherwise you'd be putting weight on. Sorry work's so difficult, it's so hard not to reach for comfort foods (& wine in my case) when things are tough, isn't it? My view is that if I can have some good days in a week, over time at least my weight won't increase, which is what it has been doing gradually over the last couple of years. Keep the faith!

Hi girls. Just popping in to say a quick hello. I've loads of housework to do this morning and a HV appointment this afternoon. Ds3 isn't very well either and I can't get him to eat anything. Endless rounds of vomitting accompanied with a fever. Who'd be a mum eh? The temptation for several the odd glass of wine has been strong, but so far i've managed to resist.
Anyway keep going with with all the healthy eating girls and I'll try to catch up with you again later today.

LOL Gumtree! PMSL at your furtive oxter sniffing! LOL!

Sorry, I have been neglecting MN. Have been v busy and can no longer access from work so have really struggled to get on until today.

Sorry to hear your work has been stressful Gumtree. I guess in your line of work, with the stress comes sadness too. Hope you're doing ok and DS is feeling better. It's awful when they're ill.

Well done on your further weight loss Loler. Nice one and wow - Lilolil - lovely to see you on here again. Hope you can pop in again soon.

Weigh in this week went ok - two pounds off this week which brings me down to 10 st 3 and a half pounds. Slimming World is definitely the one for me, although next week is probably going to be a different kettle of fish. I'm away for a couple of days this weekend, (DH surprised me with two days in a caravan for our 10th anniversary - DD will come too!), so I will eat out at least once over the two days. I'm going to take some healthy food with us, and will try to eat healthily as far as I can. Plus, next week it's heading into the premenstrual zone, so I'll be packing some extra fluid. I might try reducing my salt intake actually and see if that reduces the retention.

Anyhoo - that's next week. This week so far I'm on track and hovering around an average of 9 syns out of a possible 15 each day so doing ok.

Hope those of you who haven't been on for a couple of days are all ok and just busy like me.

Toodle ooh the noo

lilolilmanchester · 30/04/2009 18:22

hi all, am seriously trying to limit my MN habit, which is almost as hard as trying to lose weight! Well done allovertheplace, I wish I had the will power of many of you on here! Upagumtree, hope your DS is feeling better. Have been really good this week, not had a glass of wine since Sunday which is pretty good going for me and have eaten fairly healthily. Will weigh myself on Monday and will post, tho I have a potentially calorie laden Sunday ahead of me! Til Monday....

MABS · 01/05/2009 17:48

just saying hi and still no loss here.

loler · 01/05/2009 18:22

Have had a bad week - ds1 birthday and the place has been packed with lots of yummy treats - haven't had the will power to resist as very hormonal and feel the over powering need for rubbish food.

keep going every one - it can be done. This is the lightest I've been for years and years!

Allover - congrats on the 10 years and nice suprise - hope you get sunshine! Its our 10 year anniversary this year - hope I get a nice suprise too.

lilolilmanchester · 04/05/2009 20:12

the weekend did for me!! Massive calorie intake and no weight loss, but if I hadn't eaten sensibly earlier in the week I'd have put weight on I suppose! I guess longer term that's the point of watching what you eat, ie not getting bigger even when you're naughty!

OP posts:
upagumtree · 05/05/2009 17:43

Hello girls, just popping in quickly betwen hectic shifts to say hi. Haven,t weighed this week but i'm guessing they'll be no weight loss anyway.
Congratz allover on your weight loss and wedding anniversary. I hope you have a lovely time.
And well done loler on your continuing weight loss. I bet you are feeling great!
Lilo - well done on not gaining any weight inspite of huge calorie consumption...phew
Wabbit. How are you peeps? I'm getting worried about you. Hope everything is ok

loler · 07/05/2009 17:41

WHERE IS EVERYONE - no help to stop eating.

I must step away from the fridge!

upagumtree · 08/05/2009 09:30

On days off hooray!!!! Looking forward to a well deserved rest.
"Loler...step away from the fridge full of temptation...step away from the fridge. Put the kit kat back and put your hands in the air"
Right ok where are you all? Thinking that earlier swine flu theory was correct and leaves stockpile of tamiflu on the table for everyone to help themselves.
Haven't had vino in about 3 weeks. I'm very proud of myself but unfortunately have now substituted the vino for chocolate! No wonder I cant get rid of this huge muffin top.
Ok guys seriously I hope you are all ok. Please come back...I need all your fat busting and tummy deflating support...urgently

lilolilmanchester · 08/05/2009 11:57

LOLER, PUT THAT DOWN, YOU DON'T NEED IT.....

Do any of you find a pattern with your weak times? I am fine on my working days - quick breakfast, sensible lunch & meal. But weekends, I just can't help myself.
I'm not working today either Loler. Had hoped to get all my washing done and hung out then spend the rest of the day blitzing the garden but it's pouring. Thankfully there's no chocolate or biscuits in the house cos just feel like nibbling on something naughty.

OP posts:
upagumtree · 08/05/2009 12:45

No Lilo, there seems to be no pattern, rhyme nor reason. I just wanna eat trash all of the time. Ok well that isn't strictly true. I usually do really well during the day. Evening is my downfall either with wine and nibbles or just recently chocolate. Night shift too is particularly tempting. I tend to eat loads of comfort food on a nightshift. I have no willpower. Friut just doesn't have the same appeal at 3am as a packet of hula hoops and a galaxy has. So the junk wins out every time.

loler · 08/05/2009 14:03

I've stepped away but it's whispering in my ear!

I find my problem time is variable - can ingnore the urge to eat for days then have one lapse and stuff myself stupid for the next couple of days. Almost like an alcoholic going on a bender! Can just stop at one nice thing - if I have one crisp will have to have 3 packets. I tend to be worse if there is nice stuff in the house (can't be bother to get to the shop to buy it and don't live or work very close to shops) and if dh is around will eat more.

Going out for a meal tonight - trying hard not to eat much today so that I have points for tonight. So far have just had ds left overs from lunch (baked potato and fish pie).

I've also been on the wagon since just before easter (is that about a month?) - the llongest non-pg! Poured a glass of wine at ds bday party and tasted funny - maybe I'm on the wagon for good .

loler · 08/05/2009 14:04

gumtree - meant to add that I have also replaced wine for chocolate.

lilolilmanchester · 08/05/2009 15:01

I think if I stopped drinking, the weight would just drop off. Can't see that happening any time soon!

OP posts:
allovertheplace · 08/05/2009 19:00

Yoohoo Everybody

Just thought I would pop in and say hi. Sorry haven't been on here much. Just so flat out busy at work and trying to catch up in the house at night. Glad a few of you are still around and trying really hard. I have to say, I'm not missing drink, but TBH, if I drink even soft drinks after 6.00 at night I'm up for the loo in the wee small hours so it's just not worth it. I have to say that I did have one or two bevvies at the weekend when at the caravan and still managed to lose a pound this week so that's me now down to 10 st 2.5 lbs. Well chuffed.

And,..... listen to this for a tale of restraint! I took a healthy meal (spaghetti and meatfeast bolognese) to the caravan to stop eating out one night and when we did eat out I had a roast dinner with loads of veg and no roasties or yorkie puddings. AND, not only that, while DH and DD were tucking into a chippie tea, I contented myself with ONE chip to taste and then had a muller lite yogurt and a banana!

Where's all this willpower coming from?! Actually, TBH, the Slimming World free food fills me up so I don't really feel that I need snacks so much. I've also bought a stepper yesterday so I'm burning off little bursts of calories here and there. Just did 20 cals before I came on here.

Anyhoo - keep going everyone! Will try to pop in again soon x

upagumtree · 16/05/2009 15:46

Phew, what a set of shifts at work. So glad i'm on my days off now. Really hope this thread isn't dying on it's arse. I'll miss you all if you dissapear...so come back y'all!!!!

upagumtree · 17/05/2009 09:27
