I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

ROFL at Gumtree and scales being a load of shite

Hope you're back on planet earth by now Gumtree. I've never worked a night shift but would imagine it's proper weird!

Well done on your weight loss Wabbit and sorry to hear about DP's Dad. That's not so good. Thanks for altering my starting weight - I did mean to ask you to do that so you read my mind.

Today has been fine. I've been trying to explain the ins and outs of SW to DH. He needs to lose quite a bit of weight and has been trying WW but slid off the wagon over Easter and is struggling to get back. He might try it along with me but I suspect he won't find enough to eat, (he got loads more points than me on WW). It really does discourage you from snacking on sweet treats.

Instead of pasta last night I made SW chips, (free) two quorn sausages (free), two eggs fried with Fry Light, (free) and some cherry tomatoes (free) for tea and it was gorgeous.

Having a takeaway tonight but what we're doing is splitting a chicken chow mein, (about 4 syns each) and having it with free SW chips. I'll still have plenty of syns left for a wee cheeky glass of beer or wine tonight and have saved my healthy extra cheese and will have that with some grapes in front of the telly.

Tomorrow going to try Quorn bacon sandwich for breakfast instead of cereal.

I won't be back to "normal" until Tuesday as DD's school has a training day on Monday. Just continuing to ignore the chocolate eggs in the fridge - have hidden them behind the mound of grapes that's in there!

MABS · 18/04/2009 17:45

mine are back to school mon thank god - nearly 4 wks off. am back to the gym, but still no weight loss.

upagumtree · 20/04/2009 10:04

Morning girls

Still too frightened to weigh myself after two weeks of eating everything and anything. So no new weight this week but I need to make an extra effort this week on the diet front since I had a bit of a melt down yesterday. I don't have any trousers that fit me properly all because of this massive tummy which won't shift. Haven't managed to do any concious exercise this week although I spent 5 hours in the garden yesterday painting the fence. That must count as exercise...yes?

Wabbit, so sorry that things are not good with dp's dad. I hope things improve and hope you are all ok. >>

Allover, SW sounds much better for you. It's great that your dh is doing it too. You can keep each other motivated. Also well done on avoiding the chocoate in the fridge. A big gold star goes to you

Mabs...I wish I could be more like you on the exercise front. Would love to be able to go to the gym again but sadly have neither the finances/time/energy. Hopefully now that easter is over and the kids are back to school i'll resume my walking and wii fit

loler · 20/04/2009 10:14

Gumtree - SNAP - I also have been eating lots of cakes (homemade so no calories - obviously point free?) and have do no exercise apart from drinking tea and gossiping with friends.

I skipped WW last week as was eating in the lovely sunny garden. So tonight I'm estimating a +2lb. Hopefully tonight will give me a bit of a kick!

Wabbit - hope your FIL is better xoxo

upagumtree · 20/04/2009 10:45

Hi loler. Lovely to see you. Of course there are no calories at all in homemade cakes. Persish the thought!

wabbit · 20/04/2009 14:01

Thanks for the hugs Gumtree - we spent yesterday morning with dp's dad, he's looking much better than he was, though you can tell he's very weak still and very exhausted. The antibiotics are kicking in properly now but there's as yet no improvement or explanation as to why his eyesight has deteriorated so severely - poor man.

DP, Dd, Ds and I went for a picnic in the beautiful grounds of a grand house yesterday afternoon. it was dp's last day before going back to uni and we took ds's cricket bat and ball - an hilariously riotous game ensued in which ds's fielding techniques consisted of hurling himself into his fellow players and rolling on the floor in hoots! Ahhh 3yrs is such a lovely age

May have exceeded points a little last night as dp made burgers for the bbq... I had to taste one after finishing my chicken didn't I? It would have been rude not to!

I have decided - I have NO restraint when it comes to wine the only way past this is by not having ANY in the house when dp's not about!

lovely to see you back loler

wabbit in a blousey, sun-dressy, lovely day isn't it? kind of way

upagumtree · 21/04/2009 09:49

Wabbit for dp's dad but glad to hear he' looking a wee bit better. I really hope he's feeling better soon. Your picnic sounded great and with all your cricket hilarity you'll have burnt off your bbq burgers...and chicken! Also gotta agree with you re the wine. I've decided that it's best if I don't have any in the house. Last night for example I had a glass of wine but only because it was there in the fridge, not because I wanted one. I wouldn't have bothered if it hadn't been staring at me every thme I opened the fridge door. So I'm just not gonna buy any and draw a line under the vino drinking.

Stayed well within my calorie limits yesterday. Of course an hours worth of painting the garden fence ((((((((oh my gawd its gonna take forever!!!!)))))))) contributed to burning off some extra calories too. And apart from walking to school there was no other exercise done. Haven't been skating in 2 weeks and am really missing it. But will definately be back this week. Just been feeling really tired and exhausted this last couple of weeks. Ah the joys of being back at work!

wabbit · 21/04/2009 14:55

Ahh, gumtree! totally know what you mean about feeling tired, just thinking about everything I need to get done makes me tired - especially if I'm a bit out of sorts.

Well done for doing well yesterday though, and oh, grrr, yes! the Wine!!

Think I'm heading towards that time of the month as i've the most awful headache today and can barely keep my eyes open. only a half day of work today so more uni stuff this afternoon

wabbit · 21/04/2009 18:21

did the shopping and bumped into a really good friend I've not seen in AGES... strange thing was, woke up this morning thinking I must make an effort to get in touch - she's coming over later when she's finished giving her piano lessons... wine WILL be on the menu, but i've been uber-good today and left points for later misbehaviour!

Keep on posting everyone.... Allover - looking forward to your weigh-in so we can see the results of your SW efforts

MadHairDay · 21/04/2009 20:01

Hello....how is everyone doing? Have been away over Easter (plus v naughty so felt too embarassed to post...weighed myself the other day and up to 10st10lbs - didn't think I'd eaten too much but obv had. grrr! Still on lots of meds which don;t help.
Wabbit, hope you have a nice time with your friend, and enjoy that wine!
I hope to be back on track now. There is still far too much chocolate around the house. How can I resist? I have nooooo will power. aaargh.

allovertheplace · 21/04/2009 20:24

Nice to hear from you MadHairDay and Loler and Hi to Gumtree, Mabs and Wabbit!

Haven't managed on to MN for a day or so. I'm spending all my time in the kitchen at the minute, (or at least it feels that way) piggin well cooking meals from scratch. I guess that's the downside of SW. Ready meals are too many syns, (most of them) so I'm cooking most meals now. Anyhoo, feels like I'm having to consult my food optimising "bible" a bit less. Have stuck to it fine so far and haven't exceeded the 15 syn limit on any days, probably averaging around 10 syns a day which is probably fine.
Gumtree - sounds like you've been pretty active chickie! Hope that helps this week.
Hope you have a great evening Wabbit and manage to limit the vino or at least if you don't that you don't beat yourself up about it! Hope DPs Dad is still improving.

Today's revelation was a recipe for chick pea cake. Yes - that's right! I looked at it and thought, that will never work. Tried it though and it's actually ok! The whole cake, (size of a one layer victoria sponge) was only half a syn for the lot, (probably the baking powder) so I chopped it into smaller pieces and put a v thin spread of lemon curd in between two pieces, sandwich style and lo and behold - a decent sized bit of cake weighing in at probably less than half a syn a pop, (although will obviously count it as half a syn).

Also unlocked the free step on my Wii Fit so I can now watch telly while stepping away to my heart's content, (the beat for it comes out of the Wiimote).

My weigh in is on Thursday but I still feel like I'm carrying fluid from last week, (TOTM) so who knows what the outcome will be. I'll be gutted if I haven't lost anything as I really have been following it to the letter.

Anyhoo - off to sit on my bahooky to watch some telly for the first time today.

Au revoir!

wabbit · 22/04/2009 12:52

Did have a fabulous evening thankyou girls I think I have converted said friend to WW... we're going to do a power walk together tonight to start the ball rolling for her

lovin' the expression 'bahooky' !!! that one will definitely work it's way into my vocab!

Helloooo to everyone, lovely to see it a little busier in here

Little one's being sweeties today and just popped them down for a nap... even ds having a snooze.
Dd and I had an argument this morning as she refused to go to college despite my promising to take her in I called my mum and her dad to see if they could get any co-operation from her - absolutely Nuffink Grrrrrrrrrrrr to all teenagers and all who blessed well sail in them.

Good luck for the weigh in allover

Right must do work

upagumtree · 22/04/2009 15:56

Oh no, I feel terrible. I've just scoffed the remainder of a huge bag of crisps and eaten two chocolate digestives so quickly I hardly tasted them and now I feel sick. What a glutten I am. Serves me right for being so greedy. Will have to do about an hours worth on the wii now to compensate . Darn those vulnerable moment cravings!!!

wabbit · 22/04/2009 18:43

Oh poor you! I get Sooo hungry before my TOTM... it's crap isn't it?

have just munched through remains of dd's fish and chip supper, have left points to do so but now wondering if it was worth 7pts

madwomanintheattic · 22/04/2009 18:48

i lost another pound but have a hideous ear infection on one side lol. i had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic/ steroid spray which means i'm deaf in one ear as well.

now that i've found you again (couldn't remember what the thread was called but just seen it come up in active and recognised it lol) i'd better read up what's been going on

easter went ok, fended off most of the choc, but seem to be static so need to ramp up the exercise. can't davina off balance at the mo tho...

wabbit · 22/04/2009 23:59

Hiya Madwoman Well done for the weight loss and for finding us again! I'll do your stats tomorrow - just sloping off to bed... dp's arrived home unexpectedly

upagumtree · 23/04/2009 11:45

Heellooooo Madwoman. Fab weight loss but sorry about the ear infetion/deafness/loss of balance thing. Must be a complete nightmare for you. Do you feel dizzy too with your balance being out of sorts? Hope things are back to normal for you soon.

Well last night we decided to go skating. The rink was empty so it was great having space to practice manoevres etc. BUT then I only went and fell and hurt my wrist. I don't know if i've sprained it or whether it has a hairline fracture, but either way it hurts like hell. Guys at the rink were great though and gave mean icepack to take down the swelling. Driving home with one hand was great fun too . Anyway it's tubi-gripped atm and i'm taking brufen and co-codamol for the swelling and pain. Typing is so much slower than usual hurumphhh!
Anyway got about an hours worth of skating done before aid incident so think i've managed to work off yesterdays crisps/choccie biccie pig out

upagumtree · 23/04/2009 11:46

"said incident" even!

wabbit · 23/04/2009 14:32

ow ohh ow oooh ow ! you poor thing gumtree - have you had it checked?

busy... 0ne, two and 3 year olds negotiating like only they can!!!!!!!

later

allovertheplace · 23/04/2009 14:55

Hi All

Gumtree - double ow from me! If it's still sore tomorrow, get it checked out! Nice to see it hasn't kept you off MN!

Nice to hear from you again madwoman and well done on the loss although you're also a bit crocked at the minute so commisserations!

I had my weigh-in today. I lost a pound and a half so I am now 10 st 5.5 lbs. It's a start! I have to say, over the week I have had snacks in the evening, (fairly healthy ones) and I did have a chinese takeaway last weekend so I guess that's good going. I was hoping for more but hey - it's not to be sniffed at.

I think it might have been more if I'd done one or two original (red) days so I'm going to do Saturday and/or Sunday as red and see if that makes a difference. Still liking it though!

MadHairDay · 24/04/2009 09:28

Morning all
Ouch Gumtree, that sounds horrible, well done for driving home with it!
Hi Madwoman, sorry to hear about the ear infection and reaction to the meds, it sounds horrible for you, hope you feel better soon.
Hi allover, well done for your loss, you're doing v well.
Wabbit, so you have 3 under 3? Hats off to you! And you have a teenager too? You must be v v busy.
I did OK yesterday but can't seem to shift the wieght and feeling slightly depressed about it atm. I have been on heavy antibiotics for 6 weeks now and steroids and they make me sooooo hungry. I'm finding it really difficult but all my trousers feel tight and i just don't want to feel all flabby for summer, I put one of my summer T shirts on yesterday and it showed all my lovely muffin top, aaarghh!! So going to try double hard. The problem may be that I am not following something like WW, you all seem to be doing v well doing that - it's kind of my own home made diet, counting calories and cutting fat but not really disciplined. Is WW etc easy to fit round cooking for family etc?
