I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

that no-one is here.

upagumtree · 19/05/2009 09:57

Heeeelllooooooo! Hooray! Was becoming paranoid thinking everyone had deserted me. Phewwww. Was also tempted to join another thread but none of them compared to be honest

That's great news on your 10% loss Loler. Thank goodness it's a metaphorical leg and not actually a real leg! Great news. The WW thing seems to work really well for some. I'm wondering how Allover is getting on with her SW diet. She seemed to be doing great on that one.
Have I missed something? Have our dieting buddies left MN? I haven't seen anyone around the boards for ages.

WAVING FLAGS AND THROWING TICKER TAPE IN AN AMERICAN STYLE**

Yippee Gumtree well done - long may it last!

I am also wondering where everyone else has gone - was tempted to join another thread as need some day to day encouragement but didn't fancy any of the others, not enough mention of gin and wine!

This week I got my 10% keyring at weight watchers - have lost 10% of my bodyweight - that's almost a leg!

loler · 19/05/2009 12:25

Maybe they have discovered the real world and are doing piles of exercise their dc have become complete angels and are now very thin and have no need for this thread or any of the other boards?

I'm meant to be working from home - am struggling for motivation, so it's either come on here or hit the cereal cupboard.

upagumtree · 19/05/2009 12:36

Ah yas...that must be it of course. They have all lost copious amounts of weight and need us no longer or have had tummy tucks etc and are looking absolutely fabulous and therefore have no need for us or have just thought f* it, can't be arsed with this dieting malarky and therefore have no need for us

Ok loler. Stay away from the cereal cupboard. Keep MNing or start working! Either one will take your mind off the treats in the cupboard. Stay strong!

upagumtree · 19/05/2009 12:37

...and you'll be well on your way to losing another leg!

loler · 19/05/2009 12:41

I could just hit the gin and be legless - much easier!

The tummy tuck is sounding quite a good option. I have lost lots of weight so rather than having a plump round tummy it is just saggy. Worried that will get worse if I lose more. Guess it's the result of 3 huge babies and rubbish skin with a river delta of stretch marks.

upagumtree · 19/05/2009 13:01

Nope still there unfortunately. We must have same type of tummy. You have just described mine to a T.
Ah but then you'd be bummin' around for the rest of the day! Think the Gin is a good idea but I'd wait til later if I were you. Get all the kids homework dinner and baths out of the way first. Then you can sit back and enjoy

Hi,
I'm 5ft 8in, 10st 7lb, but would like to be 10st flat for a friend's wedding. I tend to lose 2 or 3 lbs - whoop de doo, then wine & munchies strike and I'm back to square 1. I'm not good at breakfast, so I've been making the flapjacks from the mumsnet recipe page, but leaving out the sugar - they don't need it.
I notice lots of these postings are from Feb. How have you all got on? Are you still going and can I pledge to lose half a stone in the next 6 weeks - and keep it off for the next 6 weeks???
keep in touch!

allovertheplace · 26/05/2009 15:56

Well done Gumtree and Loler! Nice one!

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I'm hardly ever on MN now since I've been unable to access from work. I don't seem to have time when I'm at home, what with trying to catch up with housework and all the soaps I watch, (something had to give).

I'm still doing Slimming World but have hit a plateau. It started when I had my premenstrual week, where I maintained instead of losing, (having stuck rigidly) then the following week I was at a conference so couldn't go to group. Said conference organisers were throwing food at us all day so I eventually succumbed to warm pastries and a sit down lunch, (with pudding). This was swiftly followed by the arrival of my parents with their typical West of Scotland diet, (sorry Gumtree - I'm sure you'll be the first to admit that old school WoS peeps don't have the healthiest diet). So my kitchen is groaning at the seams with goodies. I've been really good for the past two days and have avoided eating out, but I feel like I've put weight on. So fed up. Slimming World is good from the point of view of not feeling hungry but the minute you deviate from the plan, it takes a good few days for your body to feel like it's losing again, (IMHO). I'm expecting to have maintained again this week or, (horror) put weight on, despite being good (by then) for 3 days, (and semi-good, i.e. not going over 15 syns a day for three days) prior to that).

I guess I'm actually just anti-diet right now with all the goodies around me, winking at me, and having to resist! Seriously considering just stopping going to group, (which I'm not getting much out of apart from the fear of the scales) and doing it on my own. At least that way I'll be £4.50 a week better off and I'll have a bit more time for housework on a Thursday morning. I know I won't stick to it as rigidly but I'm happy with that, as it will then just be down to me if I gain, and not to the dubious nature of the eating plan.

Sigh.... rant over.

Hope you're all doing ok - where are all the others?

upagumtree · 27/05/2009 00:12

Hi allover...girl...I missed ya!!!! So glad you haven't deserted us. I don't know where wabbit and the others have gone. I miss them too I haven't any advice for you re givig up our SW class given that I have never actually been to one, but if you think that is the best option for you...and if you think you'll be able to manage on your own, then I don't see any harm in it. Those blasted conferences/meetings have a lot to answer for haven,t they? How dare they tempt you with mouth watering, diet debunking, delicious patries!Have they no shame FGS ?!
I haven't weighted myself since last week. I'm too frightened in case I have put some weight on. However went back to ice skating this evening which is the first time since I fractured my wrist. Was a bit shakey and took a while to rebuild my confidence but I managed and didn't fall thank goodness. And gawd do my legs hurt. I cant believe the difference 4 weeks makes to fitness levels
Hi Louis1. Welcome to our wee group. I'm absolutely with you on the old vino/chocolate senario Tis also my diet flaw too. Although I have been much better of late but I have lapsed this past few days. And on Thursday I'm going through to Edinburgh for a girly night out which will involve drinking, eating, drinking, being scared witless on a ghost tour and erm... even more drinking. Think I won't weigh myself next week either
See you later girls...and keep MNing...I need ya!!!

Louie1 · 27/05/2009 15:07

Hi,
Lost 2lbs on ryvita, low fat cheese, and plain chicken with boiled potatoes and veg.

Does anyone know a recipe for chocolate fudge cake for 42 calories and 0.2g of sat fat??!? {grin}
Keep going eveyone - I tend to give up after a few weeks, so keep going!!

Louie1 · 27/05/2009 15:08

Oi, Mumsnet,
Why hasn't my smiley worked - being on a diet is bad enough, without yer smiley not working either!!!

loler · 28/05/2009 21:14

Hi louie - you need to use [] not {} around your smiley thingy - lack of sugar obviously!

I've had a bit of a shocking couple of weeks - I seem to have done nothing but eat. School holidays are hard work! Have done lots of eating out and had visitors so loads of nice food in.

Jumped off the wagon last week - ate tons while off and then had hangover munchies the next day! Now firmly back on the wagon!

Not looking forward to Monday!

Allover - put a line under today and start it in the morning. Will take my own advice!
