I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

[email protected] rubbing it in as we are all very jealous!

Hi Allover, hope you are having a great time and not nursing a hangover

Wabbit ~ 4% fat is great! How are you measuring fat loss?

Gota go, Ds3 having a tantrum as wee speak. Catch up later x

MABS · 04/04/2009 15:44

4% is wondeRFUL, BLOODY WELL DONE wabbit. Glad throat it easier now, Madwoman, wine is good medicine.

wabbit · 05/04/2009 00:33

Internet playing up here

Thankyou for your kind words, was quite surprised about the weight as it now 'looks' like I've lost weight

Gumtree - I weigh myself on the same scales in the same Boots pharmacy each week - and at no other time!! - 70p for a full readout of weight - height - BMI and Fat percentage... Bargainous!!!

night night all

wabbit · 05/04/2009 15:25

afternoon all

Madwoman, what a relief that your fishbone experience is nearly over, didn't old queen mum have something like that? bless!! hope you enjoyed your something tasty

Only just managed to stay within points yesterday, was a bit manic in the burrow with dd awol when I'd arranged to take her out
I decided to go without her!!! she was not a happy bunny!! (I on the other hand ds and I had a lovely time )

Doing much better today, and dd a bit more contrite! Mind you, went into sainsbury's and couldn't see anything that made me go ... oooh, i'd like that for a change, might have to search through WW recipe's to get some ideas as low carb, low fat is getting a little samey at the moment.

Only a week to go before I can have a glass of vino!! (5 weeks off alcohol, don't think I've done that in a long, long time)

DP's taken ds out for the afternoon so that I can finish (well... start ) an essay

Hope everyone has a lovely sunday, tis good weather here again.

wabbit · 05/04/2009 20:02

I'm liking the wabbitty ears!

Just back from jog/power-walk, still can't do the distance at a jog all the way round - but will keep plugging away at it

How are you all? How was your skating on Thursday Gumtree?

wabbit · 06/04/2009 11:24

Hellooo.... ooo... ooo... ooo

Wabbit seeking attention

madwomanintheattic · 06/04/2009 14:36

school hols lol - apparently it means i can't spend all day doing essays on mn...

did you get yours done?

wabbit · 06/04/2009 15:45

hiya - not finished yet... have just come back from my Dyslexia Needs Assessment - i'm so excited! I have been recommended to have some wonderful 'texthelp', 'dragon' and 'inspiration' software that will help with the reading and assignments. It's such a long process to have got here, and to be told that there's help out there

Like a weight off my shoulders!

Have a lovely time with your LO's over the holiday, i'll keep a postin' so do pop in when you get a moment

allovertheplace · 06/04/2009 16:39

Hi All

Just quickly popping in to say I'm back and snowed under a mountain of washing and housework, (after working all day today). Looks like you're all doing ok and keeping busy with the schools being off.

I had a great time in Scotland although, I did COMPLETELY overdo the eating and drinking. I ABSOLUTELY came off the diet from Thursday to Sunday. I used this as an excuse to empty the freezer of any remaining fatty foods last night with the old, "the diet is starting tomorrow" sketch and actually managed to sicken myself completely so in fact I'm glad to be back on it again today! Have done well so far and planning beans on toast for tea with just a little melted grated cheese on top of the beans - Mmmmmm! Oh, and yes - I did have a MASSIVE hangover on Saturday which was not good as it was spent in the company of the in-laws who are large in number and have a habit of all talking at once and over the top of each other. It was one of those hangovers where you spend the morning throwing up and the afternoon stuffing your face with carbs. Not big and not clever. No more drink for me for at least .... ooh... a week or so I reckon.

Anyhoo, will try to pop in over the next couple of days to properly catch up with what y'all have been doing.

Tally ho!

upagumtree · 06/04/2009 18:37

Hi everyone. How are you all? Have fallen of the wagon in spectacular style this weekend {so you are not alone allovertheplace!!} Lots of takeaways, crisps, chocolate and vino. But then again it's been a busy ole weekend with lots of wii fit/sports, ice-skating, shopping, sex, shopping, more sex and more wii fit so think I must have burnt it all off..surely

Allovertheplace, so glad you had a great weekend back home. Sounds like a fun time was had by all, with exception of the hangover of couse

Wabbit, Ice skating was great thanks and on Sunday I took ds2 for the first time. That was an experience I can tell you and not one which I wish to repeat again in a hurry given that my back is now agony with trying to balance him and prevent him falling over. He says he really enjoyed himself however given that he spent the whole entire time moaning and whinging I don't think he liked it as much as he is letting on.

Madwoman, how is the throat? All better I hope.

Speak to you all soon xxx

MABS · 06/04/2009 18:41

listen,i am sure you are all doing v well compared to me, i am drinkin waaaay too much on hols

madwomanintheattic · 06/04/2009 18:44

seems fine. occasionally a little twinge but only when i'm thinking about it lol

salmon for dinner with lots of veggies. apparently no excuse for binge eating now lol.

dcs going to grandma's on weds, so have four days to finish three essays and sort the house from top to bottom deciding what to send in our first removal consignment... eek. that may require much wine, so i must be extra good for the next couple of days lol.

i'm having a little grin at everyone being so utterly rubbish over the weekend (including me on my post-throat binge lol) i'm dreading weighing. put it off today...

upagumtree, how old is ds2? skating sounds like fun - i'm trying to work out to how to teach 3 (well, two realistically) when i can only just stay upright myself...

wabbit · 07/04/2009 12:47

Afternoon all

lovely to catch up with all your indiscretions over the weekend!!

allovertheplace - your hangover sounds monumental, I've promised myself that I'm never going to go there again! It's about the third time I've promised myself this!
I managed not to fall off the wagon and have been power walking for the last two evenings... I'm still having trouble maintaining a jog, my limbs get very heavy and I'm just not circulating enough oxygen I don't think - makes me feel so unfit.

Have good days all

upagumtree · 07/04/2009 14:48

So despite my shameful and sinful weekend of diet debunking I have lost 1 lb. Am now 9st 9lbs. BMI is 25.15 However was shopping for clothes yesterday and left almost empty handed. Still couldn't find trousers to fit me with 12 too small and 14 too large. My local asda (george) aren't doing the in-between sizes yet. Was in all the usual high street stores and couldn't find anthin which fitted or looked flattering. Tops are difficult to find too given largish boob issue and large/protruding stomach issue. So I need to work at reducing my wobbly belly...if anyone has any tips...please share

Madwoman. Ds2 is 7. He'll be 8 in a couple of weeks. There are children much younger than that who are fabulous on the ice. But Ds struggles with his balance due to his tourettes and impulsiveness. So even riding a bicycle without stabalisers is a real challange for him. But I think through time and with some perseverance and patience on all sides he should gradually improve.

Hope the essays are going well girls and wabbit you're doing great with your training. Keep it up

Nightshift tonight and tomorrow. Will try to be good.

madairyMilkEggday · 07/04/2009 14:58

Hiyaaaa....
Oh gumtree I'm glad it's not just me that's fallen off the diet wagon...am doing appallingly now it's the easter hols.....sigh. But you're doing great - 9st 9lbs...v !
Allovertheplace, sounds like you've been having a great time.
Hi to everyone else. I've been to the doctors this morning and got another 3 wk course of abs because this infection won't shift, and also on steroids and they have the unfortunate side effect of making me ravnous....any tips how to cope with it, esp with all this chocolate around? Am giving up hope now of being under 10st6 for easter....but will get back to it afterwards to lose some for summer.
Hope all is going well for everyone.

loler · 07/04/2009 15:20

Gumtree - congratulations with that BMI you are now officially no longer overweight!

I some how managed to lose 2lb this week even with chinese and a toby carvery and lashing of wine (am thinking the carvery wasn't as bad as I thought as although I stuffed myself it was all vegs and ds2 eat the majority of my icecream sundae).

We had a talk at fat fighters about the points content of easter eggs last night. Will be sticking to cream eggs - lindt 200g rabbit = 42points

loler · 07/04/2009 15:23

Dairymad - I was on steriods for 4 months last year - I had lots of soup (low points) and just kept reminding myself that I wasn't really hungry was the steriods talking! Actually lost 1.5 stone when I was taking them so it can be done.

madairyMilkEggday · 07/04/2009 15:39

Thanks loler, that's encouraging - a good idea to say it's the steroids talking, I don't really need the food.
(puts doughnut back in fridge to kindly let dh have later)
Well done for losing 2lb this week, that's great.

madwomanintheattic · 07/04/2009 17:53

upagumtree, dd2 is 5 with cerebral palsy, so we have balance/co-ordination issues too lol... am just keeping an eye out for tips ready for next winter i suspect it's going to be a step too far, tbh, but we did get her skiing lol, so you never know. i'm still keeping my ear to the ground for some sort of balance aid/ frame she might be able to use on the ice... well done to you and ds though - it's so important to try new things. not sure if we'll ever manage a two-wheeler... she's pretty good with a three wheeler (we have an sn trike which cost a fortune lol) and can pedal like the wind, so she's doing fine for now!

dd2 also wants to skateboard lol, and keeps making a beeline for ds1's stuff. it's soooo not happening.

ulp. easter eggs. i'm still putting off weighing myself to see if i'm anywhere near my easter target of ten and a half stone... i may put it off until saturday...

wabbit · 07/04/2009 22:32

my ds has cerebral palsy too, now 8 yrs old

allovertheplace · 08/04/2009 09:13

Yes! Well done Gumtree and Loler on your weight loss.

I weighed myself this morning. I wasn't going to but thought that wasn't in the true spirit of getting healthier, (i.e., head in the sand) so did it and wish I hadn't. I have gained 2 lbs, so am now back up to 10 st 1 lb. How annoying! Especially since it's all my own greedy fault. I am probably heading into the fluid retention zone also so don't expect any weight loss at all for the next week or two, so it's dieting without the encouraging scales activity for the next couple of week for me, and with all that chocolate around and with work currently being mega stressful. It's going to take all of my resolve and all the virtual encouragement from you lovely people to keep me on the straight and narrow!

Speaking on stress at work, must go and do some more. I'm working from home this morning and going in for a meeting this aft, so better crack on! Will try to catch up with you soon.

madairyMilkEggday · 08/04/2009 09:53

Hang in there allover. I did the scales thing this morning and also gained a pound. Knew i shouldn't have, TOTM is hitting and of course chocolate season, so think I'll avoid them now 'til after Easter.
Sorry to hear work is stressful, hope it eases out soon.
Wabbit, thanks for the stats list again. Everyone is doing so well. Big pat on back to all.
Not much to report - have been good so far today but as it's only 10am that's not really much to be proud of, lol.

wabbit · 08/04/2009 17:28

All in the aid of science and all that... I'm going to try to be more pro-active about jotting down what I'm eating here, It really does help to keep me on track as i have to do it for WeightWatchers online.

AM: 1 slice toast with 1 banana mashed on top
Lunch: 2x rivita 1/3 pot soft goats cheese + apple
PM: medium skinny/decaf cappuccino + 1 bag snack-a-jacks
(I also had two nibbles of ds's pannini don't know how to add the points for that!)

We'll have salmon in tomato and herb sauce with lots of vegetables and a jacket potato tonight... dc's will have fish and chips!

Upagumtree - you asked about exercises for your tummy? Do you have an exercise ball? they're brilliant for tummy toning excersises - if not... hang on... going to google some exercises for you

wabbit · 08/04/2009 18:17

Lie with your knees bent, back flat on the floor, feet about hip-width apart.

With your hands by your head exhale slowly while lifting your head? then your shoulders off the floor. Inhale.

Tightening your tummy, twist the upper part of your body to the right while at the same time bringing your right knee up. Then lower your right leg, as you untwist and repeat to the left side.

Lower and exhale. Repeat for five repetitions.

And...

Lie face up on the floor and bend your knees to a 90 degrees angle. Lift your head, neck, and shoulders, and stretch your fingers. Breathe in. Extend legs to a 45 degrees angle. Draw navel toward spine for support. Lift legs a bit higher if there is tension in your back. Do this five times. You can place a pillow between your knees if you want to make this activity more comfortable.

And...

Lie on your right side. Your elbow should be directly under your shoulder and your left leg should positioned on top of right leg. Wrap left arm around waist then bend knees to a 90 degree angle. Shoulders should be in line with your knees. Breathe in then lift hips so that you form a straight line from head to hips to knees. Contract abs. Breathe out then lower hips to reach starting position. Do this five times, then five times lying on your left.

And...

Lie face up and stretch your arms above your head while your palms face each other. Bend knees, with feet firm on the floor. Breathe in, and tuck your pelvis under. Gently peel spine off the floor by lifting your hips to the ceiling. Don?t arch your back. Reach arm overhead to the ceiling slowly as you lift and then back to your sides, palms facing down. Return to starting position. Breathe out as you gently lower your spine starting from shoulders with arms reaching overhead then back to the sides. Do this five times. If it seems to be hard for you, keep arms on your sides throughout the exercise.

HTH!

I feel a total traitor putting up negative stat results

MABS - Have you come back with a lovely tan?

allovertheplace: we're here for you, perhaps doing a food diary might help again? It really helps me
