I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

Can I join you please? I've been trying soooo hard to slim down. Been on diet for 6weeks now and only lost 2lbs ,so really need some support, motivation, hugs etc

lilolilmanchester · 23/02/2009 10:54

Hi Upagumtree, please do join. Not that I'm an expert so can offer moral support but no diet expertise! I did really well losing 4lb in the first 2 weeks after Christmas, but have been up and down since then. However, I'm 3lb lighter than I was at the beginning of January, so that's better than nothing. I'm reposting this article because I think it sums up how many of us feel, and reminds me - and you - that we might not have lost as much as we'd hoped - but have lost something. If you lost 2lb every 6 weeks, it would be over a stone in a year. For me, this is about realistic weight loss - not going mad and losing tons but not being able to sustain it.

Feel free to share as much or as little as you wish but here's my starter for 10:

Current weight: 11st13lb
Height: 5'4"
Target: another half stone by Easter hols
Weak points: generally eat healthily, but drink too much alchol then get the munchies; no exercise. So am going to try to get drinking within Govt guidelines and up the exercise.

OP posts:
upagumtree · 23/02/2009 11:12

Yes I suppose when you look at it like that things can seem more optimistic. Its just so hard trying to keep motivated when you see such little gain. But will try to stay more positive.

Current weight: 9st13lbs
Height: 5'2"
Target: 8st7lbs by June
Weak points: Wine and munchies also!!! Have cut back big style and now only have wine and crisps at weekend...not everynight like I used to . Walk most days but need to increase activity levels

upagumtree · 23/02/2009 11:15

Oops meant to add BMI 26

lilolilmanchester · 23/02/2009 11:22

Sounds to me like you're in pretty good shape already, which is perhaps why you are finding it difficult to lose weight more quickly? I've seen loads of friends lose a lot of weight but not be able to maintain it, so am going for the longer-term view which means losing more slowly. That said, I have been really bad over the last couple of weeks so need to go back to alcohol at weekends only and cut out the crap I've been snacking on over half-term!
Lovely to "meet" a new person! Thanks for joining the thread.

I know 9st13bs sound reasonable but honestly at my hight it isnt and I am in the overweight category. I have two main problems that really upset me which are my enormous boobs ( I hate them since they add to my overall "fat" appearance) and my stomach which is huge. Big boobs and huge stomach at 5'2 does not make for a good look!I cant ever find any clothes to fit me properly because of my shape and my confidence in my appearance is at an all time low.

I agree with you on the longer term approach. I'd hate to lose loads only to put it all back on again. So slow, steady weight loss sounds like a master plan lol

lilolilmanchester · 23/02/2009 12:04

I know what you mean about the shape and clothes. I can't find trousers to fit me at all, and that's to do with shape rather than size. I reckon toning exercises are the only way to go - but can't find the motivation to get started on exercise. I know that's the only answer really. Don't answer this if you don't want to, b ut what's your bust size?

When I started the other thread, I found it helpful to post on here what I'd eaten in a day - made me think twice about eating the bad stuff. Might start doing that again, tho possibly a bit boring for people to read!

OP posts:
upagumtree · 23/02/2009 12:24

Bust size 32GG Small back...huge boobies!! So generally have to buy clothes to fit boobs which end up looking like tents on me. Trousers are a nightmare due to enormous belly overhang and height issues. Size 12 too small and size 14 too big. Why dont they do a size 13? That would be perfect .

I've been logging all my food and activity on FF, although when i'm bad, i dont add it to the food list...which is cheating really

madhairday · 23/02/2009 12:54

Hi Lilolil, found you Good idea to do new thread as think we'd all lost motivation.
Hi upagumtree, nice to meet you. KWYM re size 13, would be ideal!!
My stats are:
Current weight: 10st 8lb
Height: 5'7"
Target: 10 stone by easter
Weak points: Wine, crisps, chocolate. Giving up alcohol for lent (aagah!!) we'll see. Trying not to buy in crisps etc and re-starting at gym. My main problem is my health which makes it difficult for me to do sustained exercise/weight loss because of meds and exacerbations of my condition. but determined nevertheless. all my clothes feel too tight atm.
Now must eat up that last piece of cake from the fridge before starting....

lilolilmanchester · 23/02/2009 13:00

Hi madhairday! I haven't eaten anything today yet, that's another thing, I need to get up in time to have breakfast. Am just about to go have some lunch, I fancy scrambled eggs. Back to work tomorrow, so need to try to avoid the starchy comfort food they serve in the canteen!

OP posts:
lilolilmanchester · 23/02/2009 13:01

(and also wish there was a size 13!)

OP posts:
upagumtree · 23/02/2009 14:16

Hi Madhairday, nice to meet you too. I'm so glad to know that i'm not on my own with this weightloss malarky and that others are in need of a good kick up la deriere (hmmm not sure of spelling). Also KWYM re exercise. Health conditions here too, making it it harder to be as active as i'd like. It's nearly that time of day again to collect ds2 from school. I've started walking everyday instead of taking the car. So in all its a good 30min walk (some of it uphill) and I keep up a brisk pace.

Lilo Its important to eat breakfast. You mustn't skip meals. Can you take lunch with you to work to avoid canteen delights?

lilolilmanchester · 23/02/2009 14:19

you're right about breakfast, I know. I could take my own lunch to work but then like the social aspect of the canteen and it's so hard to watch others tucking in. All excuses, I know what I need to do but good to have others telling me too! Thanks!

Me, back in a bit

LoveMyGirls · 23/02/2009 14:39

Just quickly.....

I was 12st Jan 2008 I joined WW and by the end of June 2008 I was 9.7 I'm now creeping up by a few pounds (am hovering between 9.8 and 9.11) but ideally I'd like to get down to 9st for my wedding later this year.

Back later.........

lilolilmanchester · 23/02/2009 14:48

wow, you did really well. Come back and give us your top tips when you have time lovemygirls.

OP posts:
LoveMyGirls · 23/02/2009 15:58

I'm 5.3 and it's my belly and arms that the most work!

Top tips......

Fill up on pasta/ jacket pots and beans/ fruit
STOP when you're full
Brush your teeth to stop you snacking too much or busy yourself with exercise.
Exercise to get your heart rate up for at least 20mins per day (don't feel too bad if you skip the odd day though because 4 out of 7 is better than none or 1)
Chew more, loads more!
Drink more, loads more!
Choose exercise you will actually enjoy like swimming or ice skating or join a womens football team.

allovertheplace · 23/02/2009 17:45

Hi Everyone

Could you also count me in please? I'm new to this part of the Talk section but do need help, although I am at my ideal weight..... if I was actually 7 foot tall

Seriously though. I have exactly the same problem as you upagumtree. Small and busty, (38DD) so have to dress in separates mostly as opposed to dresses etc, otherwise they look like tents. It's really hard to look svelte when you're busty as that seems to be the last place I lose weight from, (when I do).

Weight: Somewhere around 10 st 5-ish, (scales broken and too scared to go on the wii fit for a weigh-in after the past week)
Height: 5 ft 0 ins
Dangers: Very sweet tooth and likewise with the wine and subsequent munchies. We also tend to eat out a lot although we're trying to cut that back drastically

I'm hoping to lose a stone over a few months. I'm very much in favour of slow and steady weight loss.

By the way, I'm sure I read somewhere that George are planning to introduce between sizes, eg., 11, 13, 15 etc. Wouldn't that be great!? Get them in the petite range and I'm sorted!

I'm following WW roughly by counting points on my own, (as opposed to going to meetings etc). I have a points calculator so just using that as far as I can. Today has been a good day so far with no straying off the path although it's double Corrie tonight which is usually enjoyed with a glass of wine.

cheekysealion · 23/02/2009 18:37

i will join you i have recently lost 3 stone and somehow managed to put 7 pound back on over half term

MABS · 23/02/2009 18:47

hi gals - can i join please.

Drink far too much wine and graze a lot, but try to do some exercise.

5ft 8
9st 13
32f boobs

I know mine doesn't sound too bad either, but want to get back down to 9 st 2 that i was a year ago.

lilolilmanchester · 23/02/2009 19:26

hi all... well, had a relatively healthy lunch and evening meal BUT we had some open wine left over from the weekend (rare occurrence in our house but we had visitors and red, white, rose all open) So am kicking myself for not having the willpower to resist a (very large) glass of wine. Oh dear! But tomorrow's another day, I suppose/

OP posts:
LoveMyGirls · 23/02/2009 20:08

Hi all I've finally sat down, I've been fairly good today (could have been better but I'm easing myself into the swing of it)

cheerios
crackerbread and extra light philli with seeds
1 malt biscuit
thai chicken breast and few chips and pea's
bowl of cereal with raisens

Have also done 20 sit ups and 50 lengths at swimming [LMG polishes halo]

Going to try my wedding dress on tomorrow this was my last ditch attempt at not feeling fat! The last time I tried it on I swore I would be 9 stone the next time I put it on............
