Half-term over, restarting diet, anyone else interested??

I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

is monday the weigh day btw? so repost list every mon?

upagumtree · 03/03/2009 12:32

Breakfast: cereal and semi skimmed milk
Lunch: chicken soup with 1.5 slices of bread
Few cuppas in between.
Gawd im soooo bored today although skating boots arrived, yipeeee . Have to wait a whole 2 days to us them though .
madwomanintheattic I didn't have wine last night either and had a few glasses of water instead. V. poud of myself as this is a huge achievement. Need to keep it up. Will try very hard not to have any wine til weekend
I think sunday or monday is the general concensus for weighing. I weigh myself on sunday at the swimming pool, but some of the others weigh on monday, so i think it's just whatever suits you.

wabbit · 03/03/2009 13:03

I weigh on a friday, but can post changes (if any) on a monday

Madwomanintheattic fantastic that you've managed to resist the vino!

and upagumtree too... who by the way sounds very serious about the skating, investing in own boots. Wish you were near Solihull or Coventry rinks and I'd join you (if I wasn't butting in of course!)

I used to go every tuesday, but since ds this just isn't possible, he hates it at the rink and it's not fair on him or dd to have him grouching throughout what should be a treat.

breakfast: banana and yoghurt
Snack: handful of grapes
lunch: chicken soup, slice wholemeal bread

allovertheplace · 03/03/2009 13:59

Howdy folks and thanks to Wabbit for compiling the stats. I'm afraid you're going to have to change my start weight already, as I've finally plucked up the courage to weigh myself and am horrified to find that I am actually 10 st 10 lbs!! I am soooo disappointed. That is the heaviest I have ever been, (outside of pregnancy).

Anyhoo, it's the kick up the bum I needed so today have signed on for the two week free trial of Weight Watchers online as I've been using my ancient stuff from years ago and I am again that I've been allowing myself too many points. Apparently I should only be having 17 a day! Yikes!

You are all so inspiring with your tales of exercise. I am exhausted reading it. I was planning to walk to the doctor's surgery later this afternoon but it's raining cats and dogs right now, so I may be forced to take the car, (since I will most surely shrivel up like the witch on the Wizard of Oz if rain so much as touches me). If it's dry though when the time comes, I will do the 20 minute walk there and back.

So far today, I've consumed 8.5 points so will need to be really creative to fill myself up tonight so that I still have room for a wee snack to have while watching Mistresses. Yesterday I managed to consume 18.5 points, (which included a v small glass of wine) but that was before I was enlightened by WW online.

upagumtree · 03/03/2009 14:33

So sorry Wabbit, I'm no where near coventry unfortunately, and had i lived near you then you would of course be more than welcome. I'm up in beautiful scotland and use the EK ice rink. In fact if anyone happens to be local you would be welcome to join me too. I go on Thursday evenings with Ds1. Its a good night wuth music from the 60's to the 90's.

I think my problem with weight loss is not what I eat, but that i'm not active enough. So I have made a concious effort this last couple of weeks to try and stay as active as i can. Oh! And cut out vino too...of course.

Well done allovertheplace for plucking up the courage to get on the scales...

It's such a shock isn't it, when you realise you've never been so heavy... well, keep to it and it won't be for long!

Ah, upagumtree, pity we've got Soooo many miles between us... tis just a tad too far!

peeing it down here too... just can't risk the shrivelling up allovertheplace has just reminded me might happen!

going to do pilates when I've found by blardy car documents that i need to tax the car - running out of places to look!

upagumtree · 03/03/2009 15:56

lol Wabbit. I thought losing car documents only happened in our house!?! It's the same every year. Thank goodness it can now be done online. So much easier .

MABS · 03/03/2009 17:26

very good wabbit, tho i have a horrible feeling i'll be over 10 stone after the weekend, not good today foodwise, but did do body pump and no wine since sat (tho i drank at least 3 weeks worth last thur/fri/sat )

loler · 03/03/2009 19:26

Had first official weigh in at WW since first night - am 5lb less than I was 2 weeks ago. You get a little pebble to put in a pot at the front of the glass for every 1/2lb lost. I got a cheer for my 10. Really tacky and twee but made me feel strangely proud! Had chips to celebrate!

All 3 dc are ill here and so not much chance of exercising. Hoping they will be well enough to go to nursery tomorrow but scarlett fever is doing the rounds and wondering if it's that - 5 days stuck at home if it is!

Thanks for sorting out the stats - worth doing to remind us of how well we're doing! When I was on a thread last year we did a group running total of weight lost (got to another large lady) - was interesting to see!

lilolilmanchester · 03/03/2009 19:42

ooh wabbit, thanks for doing that. Just wondering whether we should have a starting weight, as well as current weight so we can see how we are all progressing towards target weight? Or is that a bonkers idea? We can just cut and paste and add our own as and when we weigh in? Today I had a bacon buttie at work (I know, but didn't have time for breakfast at home) and then had soup, roll, yog for lunch. Spag bol for tea tonight. Am going out for lunch (business meeting) on Friday and also for a curry with friends on Friday night so doesn't bode well for Monday's weigh-in! However, I find it really motivational to read how well people are doing on here - even though I've had a bad week, I want to keep going cos you all are!

Lol@loler having "chips to celebrate", but well done on losing 5lbs. That's brilliant. Sorry to hear that your Dc's are all under the weather...i'd be having chips as comfort food! Hope they are all well again soon.

Lilolil: Yum yum @ bacon buttie. I'm drooling here at the very thought.

upagumtree · 03/03/2009 22:35

Just wanted to say that i'm so hungry just now...Am resisting all temptation. Going to make a peppermint tea to see if that will ward off the cravings.

lilolilmanchester · 03/03/2009 22:40

loler goes to the top of the class!
Upagumtree, I wouldn't go to bed hungry, personally. Small bowl of cereal perhaps?

Really lilo? Why not?

lilolilmanchester · 03/03/2009 22:49

lilolilmanchester · 03/03/2009 22:53

no, sorry. Not a medical expert, just like my food and hate being hungry (hence the weight I guess!)

upagumtree · 03/03/2009 22:57

IKWYM...lurve my food too!!! But i'm thinking about these damned calories. DAMN THOSE CALORIES

wabbit · 04/03/2009 00:29

SNOW!!! I love snow!

LoveMyGirls · 04/03/2009 08:13

I did sit ups yesterday but didn't count them and then had pizza take away because it was my bf's birthday back to being good today!

Can't do much exercise later because I'm going to dd1's brownie's to see her promise. Due to wine intake/ late night/ waking up thirsty/ having a nightmare last night I am far too shattered to do anything I don't need to do today!

allovertheplace · 04/03/2009 10:41

Hi All

Hope you DCs are feeling better Loler and congrats on the weight loss - well done you!

I'm determined to do better today. Started off with two toasted crumpets with just a teeny scrape of lo fat spread for brekkie and have just had one of those Pink N White wafer/mallow things for mid morning snack. All diet stuff in my bag for lunch. I have to say though, the hunger pangs are driving me bonkers this morning for some reason. Think I'll need to start having Fruit n Fibre in the morning instead of bread-based stuff to see if it fills me up for longer.

Didn't have wine last night and just had a pack of Crackerjack caramels in front of Mistresses.

upagumtree · 04/03/2009 11:17

allovertheplace I used to have toast every morning and by mid morning i'd be snacking. Now i've changed to spcial k cereal and i feel it makes a huge difference. I can last til lunchtime quite happily without snacking now.So your fruit n fibre might do the trick!

wabbit We now have about 2 inches of snow. Not good.

Didn't have wine again last night, so really chuffed with myself and also didn't give in to snack attack cravings. Hooray
