As above really

I have got 2 1/2 stone to lose and really need to get motivated so I am hoping by coming on here and admitting it I will keep it up .

We were ttc for the last few months but have now decided to stick with what we have got so I now want to get ME back , (sods law I will find out I am pregnant )

Anyone want to come and join me ?

I am not following a specific diet other than the obvious
"Eat less crap and move around a bit more "

Ok then I will carry on talking to myself for a while

I had a good day yesterday and stuck with the eating less and moving more thing .

Today I have got to do school run (a mile ish walk ) then back for the joy of housework .

My biggest downfall is bread . Anyone have any tips on getting rid of some carbs ?

Can I join you please? I am desperate to loose my baby weight - she's 5 months old tomorrow (omg, where's the time gone), I'm still in my maternity jeans, and I refuse to buy any more, and now autumn/winter's here, I can't wear skirts anymore, so I am wearing the same 1 pair of jeans every day. I must loose as much as possible as soon as possible. How's that for a goal

I am 5'2" and 68 kilos. Need to get to 58.

I am doing the Ian Marber Food doctor diet for 1 or 2 weeks, depending on how it goes, then sticking with hois food plan (basically low GI & lots of veg) after that.

I agree about needing to get into 'the Zone'. I think I'm finally there. I need to be. Going to UK for Christmas and don't want to be a big fat pig with wobbly belly and 1 pair of jeans and 3 tops to my name.

Re getting rid of carbs - I find if I have a 2 day total abstinence, then the cravings vanish & I can get back on track.

Do you want to do a specific weigh in day?

travellingwilbury · 04/11/2008 07:49

Hi there

Of course you can join me , it was getting lonely in here .

I was going to do a Wednesday weigh in . I find that is long enouogh from the w/e to be able to repair any damage .

I think you are probably right about the carbs and just cutting them out completely but I am such a carb freak it will be really hard

OP posts:
ErnestTheBavarian · 04/11/2008 08:14

just for lterally 2 days works for me. I find I get a really sweet tooth and catch myself eating more & more sweets, and wanting the, all the time. I cut all carbs for 2 days, the the cravings miraculously disappear

Another thing I find really helps me, is deciding beforehand exactly what I will eat that day (inc snacks), so this avoids the standing helplessly at the fridge and eating crap cos I'm so hungry and haven't got anything planned, or inadvertantly snakcing on double chocolate gateau or something.

One nuisance -my scales are playing up - over the last 2 days it has given me readings varying between 64 & 68 kilos & everything inbetween (was gutted, as I truly believed I had lost about 4, then I stood on again & it said 68 again . So, do I go and buy new scales. I mean, if they are suddenly giving totall yincorrect readings, they're not much use are they? The battery is relatively new, so it can't be tha.

travellingwilbury · 04/11/2008 08:19

If it was me I would be tempted to get rid of them and not replace them . You could go into town and weigh yourself on one of those machines and at least that way you won't be on and off them every day .

I am going to try and go carb free today so wish me luck (and my boys )

OP posts:
ErnestTheBavarian · 04/11/2008 08:19

btw we tried for ages for dc4 & it didn't happen. Accepted it wouldn't happen, got rid of most of my baby stuff. And well, here we are, trying to shift the baby weight.

btw, 2 1/2 stone is about the same as 10 kilos isn't it? SO we've got about the same to loose.

Only having 1 pair of jeans & 3 tops is helping to focus my mind.

travellingwilbury · 04/11/2008 08:22

I think 10 kilos works out about 22 pound and I have about 35 to lose

I am also down to my last pair of jeans , I refuse to buy any in a bigger size but will be very happy indeed to buy loads in a smaller size

OP posts:
ErnestTheBavarian · 04/11/2008 08:23

ok, good luck with the carb free.

How many boys you got? I've got 3

Don't know if I could go without my scales, and we don't have a place in town to go. Besides, I have to weigh myself naked, and I'd definitely get some funny looks.

Will try a new battery, otherwise I'm going to have to anny dh and buy new ones.

Must get on - have to collect people from airport. 1st prper weigh in tomorrow then?

Good luck for today.

ErnestTheBavarian · 04/11/2008 08:27

well, I already have lots in smaller size - just er can't wear them. Haven't found 'short arse' jeans here, I like to treat myself to big shopping trip when I return to UK (still love M & S, next & Gap) and unless I pull my finger out, that won't be happening this time. (another incentive)

travellingwilbury · 04/11/2008 08:30

I have got a load in the smaller sizes too and I would love to be in some of them by christmas .

Better go and do the school run . I might even walk the long way back , its the excercise I struggle with .

OP posts:
ErnestTheBavarian · 04/11/2008 08:32

ok, 'see' ya tomorrow. do that walk

ErnestTheBavarian · 05/11/2008 06:01

ok, 67.6

Found yesterday ok. I've done this diet for a week only once before with v. good results (it's only supposed to be for 1 week) but it was really hard going I seem to remember. Have attempted it many times subsequently but given up after a day or 2. I will see it through this time.

How did you get on? Did you do the walk. You're right need to do more exercise. Should we build that in?

debinaustria · 05/11/2008 06:20

OK, I'll join you too, I'm 5 foot 6 and weigh....wait a minute be right back, 75 kg. I'd like to lose at least 10kg, but can't do specific diets, plus I'm still bfeeding so don't want to do anything too drastic. So I like the "Eat less crap and move around a bit more "

How are you doing today Ernest and Wilbury?

travellingwilbury · 05/11/2008 06:39

Good morning Ernest and deb

All ok here , I did do the walk and I managed to keep of the bread all day . I am determined to do it . I am fed up with not fitting into anything .
I am 84kg I have got a way to go but hopefully by christmas I will have lost enough to feel a bit better .

OP posts:
ErnestTheBavarian · 05/11/2008 06:45

morning Deb. I'm still exclusively bf too, so being careful - previous post baby weight I've bltzed with atkins, but this time I can't wait till I finish bf.

btw, Obama result - amazing.

travellingwilbury · 05/11/2008 07:05

It is amazing isn't it ? I don't think I ever quite believed I would see this in my lifetime .

OP posts:
debinaustria · 05/11/2008 08:47

It's quite a momentous day isn't it, and what a day to start our new eating regime.

I have just admitted to dh that I do sometimes sneak biscuits etc when I'm cooking - so that's a start. " My name's Deb and I sneak biscuits"

So my main thing will be to stop snacking so much and see what happens.Might also keep a food diary on here for a few days if that's OK with you 2.

so - breakfast - 2 weetabix

mamadiva · 05/11/2008 09:05

Good morning ladies is there room for another on here?

I have about 6 stone to lose though am very blardy heavy really need some motivation! Would love to get it off by christmas.

I'm 5ft 3.5 and 16st 0.5lbs I dont know how much that is in Kilos.

Are you doing a weeekly weigh in on here, food diary or ...?

travellingwilbury · 05/11/2008 09:23

Of course you can do a food diary deb and well done for admitting your big secret

Welcome Mamadiva
We are going to do a weigh in on a wed (time to recover from the w/e )

I am just trying to eat less crap and move about more

Easier said than done maybe but I need to give it a go . I am all motivated today so long may it last

OP posts:
mamadiva · 05/11/2008 09:37

Here here to that Wilbury long live the motivtion

Wednesday is good as you say recovery time...

I really need to get excercising more too am slowly managing to curb the eating though

travellingwilbury · 05/11/2008 09:47

exercise is my problem as well . I have got loads of excuses why I can't go and do it but I know that is my downfall . I have lost this amount of weight before but haven't kept it off because I got pregnant again .

I am going to sort out my very messy bedroom today so that should keep me busy for quite some time

OP posts:
Pinkjenny · 05/11/2008 09:49

Can I join in? I have 2 1/2 stone to lose as well. Dd is 18mo and I only weigh 3lb less than six weeks after she was born!

I can't stop eating. Need support, it's really getting me down.

Pinkjenny · 05/11/2008 09:51

I don't know what I weigh in kg but I am 5'5 and weigh 12st 5lb.

travellingwilbury · 05/11/2008 09:55

Well if it makes you feel any better my lo is 2 1/2 and I am 13 1/2 stone .

I am hoping now I have put it on here it will give me the much needed kick up the bum to keep it up .

I have to do something about it as I am getting grumpy about it now .

OP posts:
Pinkjenny · 05/11/2008 10:04

It's so strange, I really hate it and want to lose it so much, but somehow can't stop eating. I think food is definitely my comfort. I read once that people who have a tendency to overeat (i.e. me, it's definitely not my thyroid or anything!), need to completely stay away from their trigger foods.

Yesterday I ate like a complete pig. Today is another day. I had porridge for breakfast, to try and fill myself up a bit.

I have fluctuated between 9 stone and 12 stone since I was about 20. Am 31 now, and have lost it mainly in the past with Slimming World. But with dd, it's so hard to commit to the meetings. So am hoping that if we can get a good support group going, we can motivate each other.
