VaginaShmergina · 25/06/2008 14:35

Its just cardio so I will use the gym all the time its included in the fee I'm paying but after that I may just get out and pound the streets.

Did the moonwalk two years running 2006/7 and enjoyed getting out and doing the training then.

You ok today ?

bonnibaby · 25/06/2008 15:47

Wow that sounds brill Vaggy,
Im back on Slimming World diet today.
Been doing it since Jan but last month ive just got soooo bored and been messing about.
Am craving the choccy now-somebody stop me!

VaginaShmergina · 25/06/2008 17:19

Oh dear dear me...........

That was hard work. I really hate those cross trainers with a passion and the pig of trainer made me do it.

Head is pounding, sweat is pouring down the crack of my boobs and bum.......... but deep down somewhere I think it felt good

I have a big tuna, lime and coriander fishcake for dinner with new pots, runners and carrots.

Even though I'm allowed booze I think it might be best not to as I now associate a drink with cheese and nibbles.

TillyScoutsmum · 25/06/2008 17:22

Hi Fanella

Yes - its drink (or bar) for brekkie & lunch and 600 calorie meal at night. You're also allowed a mid morning and mid afternoon snack (usually fruit) and a low fat dessert (100 cal) after evening meal. I don't bother with the dessert and have been adding the 100 cal to my evening meal (and them some probably )

Its good for a quick fix but gets very boring and seems to stop being very effective after 3 or 4 weeks

Will try Davina (need to start slowly - am so unfit) Thanks

VictorianSqualor · 25/06/2008 17:59

Bollocks! I forgot to weigh myself again, but seeing as I have to go nto town for a third day running tomorrow I can do it then.
S'pose at least I have done lots of walking again today but I won't know if it's worked!

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/06/2008 18:03

You should only weigh yourself in the morning, stark naked and after you've been to the loo! Otherwise all you're doing is weighing yourself plus whatever you've eaten and drunk during the day.

LivingLaVidaLurker2 · 25/06/2008 20:00

I'm a big wine drinker too - and have struggled to cut down....but now managing only one night a week and, like I said before, drinking white wine spritzers. This makes a much bigger drink, plus the fizz in the soda water fills me up so I don't drink as much. Plus - they're not as lovely as wine, so I don't really fancy drinking loads!

I like this thread - we are all doing so well. Well done us!

Off to do my ironing now (in front of Britain's Next Top Model for inspiration!) I'll weigh in tomorrow morning.

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/06/2008 20:48

Goodness, I really had to fight with myself not to give in to the urge for a glass of wine tonight!

But I succeeded, so am feeling quite virtuous.

I'm doubtful about keeping off it at the weekend, though!

VictorianSqualor · 25/06/2008 21:24

I ended up having sausage plait and homemade chips for dinner, but only a small portion so I'm not fussed.
I'll happily eat my usual dinners just smaller portions if I'm being sensible during the day, which I have been today.
DP has twice offered to go out and buy me chocolate, and just now wine!
I don't want it!!!!

LivingLaVidaLurker2 · 26/06/2008 07:43

I'm chuffed! Lost a pound (which makes 8 lbs in total), but also 3 cm off my waist. Thanks for all the support. Having a spritzer night tonight, but have already planned a healthy dinner so I don't do my usual tipsy "Ah, sod the diet!"

VaginaShmergina · 26/06/2008 07:50

Well done LLVL2. Thats great you must be feeling the difference now ?

I'm off to the gym this afternoon to have another session, am feeling much more positive today and am back in the "zone", focussed and not wanting alcohol

VS explain slowly and loudly to your husband you are trying to lose weight and as much as the choc and booze was a good idea in the past it's not helping now !!

Either that or club him around the head with a baseball bat, that might get the message across (PS How is Alexander ?)

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/06/2008 07:50

Brilliant, LLVL2 - especially the 3cm. That will make a real difference with your clothes.

I couldn't do the spritzer thing, I think it's got to be all or nothing!

I'm trying to find strategies for not drinking at the weekend, as it's so associated with 'time off'. We've been invited to a barbecue on Sunday, and there's no easy public transport so I'll have to drive, which will stop me drinking so that's Sunday taken care of!

Should also be easy on the food front, assuming that it's as meat-laden as barbecues usually are.

cosima · 26/06/2008 08:14

drink warm water with lemon juice first thing in the morning, it speeds up your metabolism. then half a grapefruit, (rids the body of cellulite, - ask nicole kidman if you don't believe me, don't drink any fruit juice - its full of natural sugar which stops you burning fats quickly. Drink two litres of water everyday. Eat some seeds. Do some walking every day and some body brushing. Get a good night's sleep every night

Fanella · 26/06/2008 08:19

Morning all!

Well, I had a good day yesterday, but not really out of choice. I did really well up to lunch time then started with a stonker of a migraine. Ended up in bed all afternoon and evening - just had tea and toast at supper time.

I'm going to have to do some research and see if it's anything in my diet, or lack of, that's triggered it. Anybody have any ideas?

Anyway - Vaggy - good luck with the life coaching regime, you can do it!

Tilly - thanks for info. I'll see how I do on my own til Monday (payday!) then may go stock up on slimfast for my quick fix..

LLVL2 - congrats on cm and weight loss, hope you enjoyed your spritzer!

BIWI - well done on avoiding the wine. Can't really offer any advice on abstaining at the weekend - except for 'sod it, it's the weekend' You can always abstain during the week..

bonnibaby - did you manage to step away from the chocolate?

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/06/2008 08:24

Sorry to hear about the migraine, Fanella. Do you get them often? The key triggers, although I assume you know this, are red wine (hope you weren't drinking that in the morning!), cheese and chocolate.

However, not eating can also cause them - could this be a culprit? Try eating little but often.

They are also stress-related, undoubtedly to do with hormones (I only ever suffered from them when I was pregnant) and can be triggered to some degree by light. Wear sunglasses all the time. How cool !

Don't know if it helps with a migraine, but will certainly help prevent/deal with an 'ordinary' headache if you drink loads and loads of water.

Apparently caffeine can sometimes help as well, it's something to do with helping the blood vessels expand in the back of the neck.

How are you feeling today?

NotVisitingUInVictorianSqualor · 26/06/2008 09:03

Hi all.
Well, that's two days I've managed!
Just had yoghurt and raisins -again, soon get bored I'm sure but for now I'm enjoying it.

Getting DP to pick up a new smoothie maker on the way home today as ours has broke and he likes a smoothie before work, I might even start having one myself.

Still have some chicken left from yesterday so that's sorted and am really going to make a lasagne later.

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/06/2008 09:38

How about the chocolate and wine, NVUIVS? Did you manage to avoid it?!

I now have 2 unopened boxes of chocolates from HOtel Chocolat Tasting Club, because I keep forgetting to cancel my membership.

But note that they are still unopened ...

NotVisitingUInVictorianSqualor · 26/06/2008 09:44

Yep

I had a yoghurt at about 9pm, which is my normal snack time, but instead of the crap I would usually eat I had that and some more water.

I haven't drank anything except water in two days, this is day three.

I still have half a box of dairy milk that DP bought me the other day, plus there are doughnuts in the larder, cupcakes that DS made on the side and tonight when DD comes home we have to bake some muffins for her school fete. I WILL be strong!!

cosima · 26/06/2008 10:53

victorian - lose the raisins - dried fruit is really fattening as loaded with (albeit natural) sugars. replace with seeds (food doctor original available at sainsbury's are delish)

NotVisitingUInVictorianSqualor · 26/06/2008 10:58

I like the raisins!
It's only a very tiny box

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/06/2008 11:32

To be honest, I think cosima is probably right. Can you substitute it for fresh fruit - berries? Tesco do a lovely frozen mix of berries (blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and red currants). Just chuck a handful in a bowl and defrost.

NotVisitingUInVictorianSqualor · 26/06/2008 11:37

It's a really tny box!
But...
IT says it has 41 calories, and 9.8 grams of sugar
I actually have some of those berries in the freezer I think.

Fanella · 26/06/2008 11:49

Hi BIWI, thanks for advice - I'm still feeling a bit 'headachey' today. I'm drinking plenty of water though.

I've suffered from migraines for years. I've given up wine, cheese, bananas, very rarely have dairy and am trying to give up chocolate (but that's never going to be easy!). They are cerainly a lot less frequent than they used to be - maybe just a couple a year whereas I used to get one at least every couple of months.

You've certainly given me food for thought though (no pun intended ), especially about the caffeine. I was wondering if it was caffeine withdrawal or something as I've been drinking more water and much less tea. I also thought it could be to do with blood sugar, so have also been eating raisins to try and make up some natural sugars.

Maybe I should treat myself to one strong, sweet cup of tea a day?

I will try the 'little and often' trick too..

VaginaShmergina · 26/06/2008 12:41

Just forcing down 2 pittas stuffed with a whole tin of tuna, red onion and cucumber.

Only 2.4g of fat and I'm allowed 10 !! Think I might have to have a chot cross bun, sainsburys be good to yourself at 1.3g.

Was gonna do gym this morn but get held up here, will go this afternoon instead.

I feel so good today, I'm glad I found you all
