What size do I look?

I’ve recently (finally) lost 4 stone after having a baby 18 months ago. I’m 5ft 7. What size do I look and any ideas for flattering outfits? I still have a really large chest and bigger thighs so help would be appreciated as I’m really struggling with what to wear.

What size do I look?

I was going to guess 14 but you're right - it's the boobs! As a fellow top-heavy person, I sympathise! You look fab anyway and well done on the weight loss.

BridgetJonesV2 · 22/05/2026 11:30

You look fab, OP.

I'm still carrying baby weight and my youngest is 27 Blush

PrettyPickle · 22/05/2026 11:36

No idea what size but you have a stunning figure that many women would die for. Size is just a number, remember that and rock your curves, no-one could tell you have recently had a baby.

ToastCraving · 22/05/2026 11:39

You look amazing !!! Did you do any specific exercises to help with losing weight as your figure is unbelievable! Hourglass and proportions are perfect. I need to know the secret !

Mosaic80 · 22/05/2026 11:41

You have a lovely shape! I would have said a 12, maybe a 14 for the boobs sometimes. I think you need to shop quite carefully for tops to make sure that your waist is still visible where possible.

I've seen a few t-shirts like this or this (not sure of Cider's quality but just to show the shape!) if you wanted some higher necklines. Or a slightly cropped (just to the waist) top with higher waisted jeans can show your shape. Although in general I think a lower neckline does look less matronly.

I think it’s just because I’ve lost a lot of weight and I thought the boobs would go down too and I’m still sometimes in the same size top as before my weight loss. I need to buy more ‘flattering’ tops.

Try more fitted tops. I have this issue, anything floaty just makes my waist look huge due to a large chest and bum.

But my DH likes to point out regularly that this is really not a problem men see 😂😂😂

Not that that you should be trying to please men!
But it does make me feel better.

Thanks everyone for your comments!

I started as a 16-18 4 stone ago! Now I’m in 12 bottoms but I’m still sometimes needing a 16-18 top which is heartbreaking 🥲 I think my boobs must be making me look huge still!

You don't look huge, you look gorgeous.

BertieMartini · 22/05/2026 11:43

You have a great shape OP.

I do think that large boobs make us appear and feel bigger than we are. I had this very issue so got a reduction.

I know that isn't for everyone, but it has been transformational.

I think almost all photoshoots like this have the T shirt pinned at the waist.

Why? Because they know it looks better!
I’m not sure what the solution for everyday people not in a photoshoot is, but the nipped in waist look in catalogues is often due to pinning.

I think dresses or tops with a shirred top, or something wrap around with a tie waist help give this effect.

rainbowunicorn · 22/05/2026 09:33

Although I agree OP has a lovely figure and just needs to dress to flatter her bust, it is a bit daft to say 12 on top apart from the boobs. The boobs are what determines the size of the top half.

Unfortunately it might mean that she has narrower shoulders with larger breasts which means it's hard to get a proper fit - ask me how I know.

OP I think you'd look amazing in a fit and flare dress with a cross over or v neck.

DavesGirl90 · 22/05/2026 11:48

You look lovely. Would love to have your boobs to waist to hips ratio!

Congrats on the weight loss.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 22/05/2026 11:48

Dress wise probably wrap dresses with a v neck. You look fab, well done

itsalltoplayfor · 22/05/2026 11:50

You have a good figure. It's a little hard to tell from the photo as you are 'striking a pose' a bit but I would guess size 12 -14. It should not be heartbreaking to be in a size 16 top if that's what looks best on you. No-one has to know your size or check your clothes labels!
I would avoid shirred tops as they cling and accentuate your chest too much. Try V necks, wrap tops/dresses, nothing too puffy on the sleeve, think hourglass.

I think they mean her arms look slimmer at the top than a 16, and probably her shoulders too.

I'd have thought about what you are Op: 16-18 top, 12-14 bottom. So that is encouraging in the sense that I think loss is visible for what it is.

I think boobs don't count as "visceral fat" (someone may correct that?) so you are probably better on that score than your dress size indicates.

Well done on your weight loss - you look fabulous!! The first place I lose weight from is my boobs and I’m only a B cup!!!! It kills me 😂😂

You absolutely do not look huge! I would have said size 14 top and 12 bottom. I'm similar shape...boobs really do make shopping difficult!

Walnutslooklikebrains · 22/05/2026 11:53

Size 16. Well done on the weight loss.

You’ve done amazing!

However, in this photo your bra looks very ill-fitting. I would get measured professionally in a proper bra shop.

RockinCara · 22/05/2026 11:57

I’m with you!

Lost 4 stones and have a similar figure. I’m size 14, headed towards 12. My boobs are a fraction smaller. I’m watching this thread with interest for inspiration!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 22/05/2026 12:06

Great figure! I’ve got GG boobs but a narrow back (28 inch). Wrap dresses are good but I wear all sorts from v neck tops to plain t shirts. Try them on and ensure they have enough stretch if you need that. I personally just don’t get on with v necks day to day. Agreed with pp you probably need a new bra, that makes clothes hang better.

UniquePinkSwan · 22/05/2026 12:08

16-18

No they aren’t.

It’s also your waist, your arms etc. I’m a size 8 with a 25 inch waist with a HH cup. I wear a size 10 top because even though a size 16 is probably suited to my bust measurement it absolutely drowns me everywhere else. When there’s such a big difference in proportion to the rest of your body you have to dress to suit your body type and pick certain items of clothing you know will fit over your larger bust measurement. A lot of clothes just don’t fit me at all because of this but you learn to know.

I recently bought a very nice top that cinches in at the waist in a size ten. There would be zero point in me buying it in a 16. You have to take each item on a case by case basis.

Nobody would look at me and say I look like an 8 on the bottom and a 16 on the top. They’d say I’m a size 8 with big boobs.

OP looks like a 12-14 apart from the boobs imo.

Thatsillymama · 22/05/2026 12:11

Well done you look great. Don't worry too much about sizing. I'm not quite as busty as you but a similar height and shape. I can be anywhere from a 10 to a 16 depending on the shop. I've let go of trying to be a perfect sized 10 because so much depends on style and fit of clothes!

LividArse · 22/05/2026 12:12

AnchorWHAT · 22/05/2026 11:04

Oh popping back to say i recently bought a cheap top that is one with ruching but asymmetrical that falls off one shoulder, looks really nice on. Photo here

People with K cups (me too...) cannot wear one shoulder tops.

There isn't a one shoulder bra for us and we generally can't be having them round our knees.
