What size do I look?

I’ve recently (finally) lost 4 stone after having a baby 18 months ago. I’m 5ft 7. What size do I look and any ideas for flattering outfits? I still have a really large chest and bigger thighs so help would be appreciated as I’m really struggling with what to wear.

You look fabulous. I’d say a 12 - but I’m sure your bust pushes that up on top.

Although I agree OP has a lovely figure and just needs to dress to flatter her bust, it is a bit daft to say 12 on top apart from the boobs. The boobs are what determines the size of the top half.

It’s not just boobs that decide the top size - it’s shoulder width, arm circumference,
bust and waist.

Any top examples would be very much appreciated as I’m at a complete loss what to buy and would like to next day delivery a couple of bits for the good weather next week!

Try V neck, wrap around style. Get a good bra that lifts and seperates rather than giving a shelf appearance. Avoid high neck. The top you have on makes you look bigger because you are just seeing a load of white fabric, a Vneck or even a slash neck will show off more skin and avoid that.

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 22/05/2026 09:38

Your boobs are not “making you look huge”, it’s just very hard to see with any sort of perspective from a small photo on a phone screen, so people are going with 14-16 as you clearly have some great curves, even after your big weight loss (congratulations on that, fantastic achievement). Don’t focus on what strangers might think you look like, focus on the fact you (presumably) feel better and are healthier and that you can go shopping for lots of lovely new clothes!! Your figure is giving Christina Hendricks so maybe look to her for some classic inspo?

Yes, but if you are a K cup like the OP then it is going to be the boobs that determine what size you are. K means OPs boobs measure 10 inches more than her ribcage undercut. She is always going to be a couple of sizes larger on top because of that.

LarksAscending · 22/05/2026 09:40

If you’re wanting to show you’re smaller but you’re battling a naturally larger bust then you need to do form fitting tops as otherwise the bust will make the fabric fall as though you have a belly.

Tops like this with room for the bust but then cinch in will be great if the neckline isn’t too low.

Alternatively shirred fabric or wrap tops:

I would say a 14. You have a lovely figure.

I love the first and second one! Thank you so much. I’m going to order and hopefully it fits and I’ll have the confidence to wear them.

I always cover my boobs which obviously makes them look bigger. For instance in my picture I would never wear that white top out without a jumper over the top as I don’t have the confidence to wear form fitting things. Need to start as I’m fed up of looking like a blob!

16 top and 12/14 on the bottom.
I think you look seriously gorgeous. I’m a similar shape and considering a boob reduction just because having to dress them pisses me off.
I try to avoid high necks as I think it helps to break the boobs up a bit.

OCDmama · 22/05/2026 10:06

Such a wonderful shape! Congratulations on the weight loss.

I agree with previous posters - pull in at your waist. You're not making the most of it and it will look amazing with your larger chest/thighs.

Maybe a size 14? No bigger than that. Some shops I'd say a 12.

Hollycoco · 22/05/2026 10:15

I’d say size 12 everywhere except your boobs! You look fabulous 🥰 Well done on your incredible weight loss.

You will always need to upsize in tops. I’m a size 8 waist but have to buy size 14 tops sometimes for my boobs! It’s hard at the moment when the trend is wide leg trousers with a fitted top. Life was much easier when the fashion was skinny trousers with a loose floaty top.

Chilly80 · 22/05/2026 10:16

I was a KK i saved up and got them reduced. I highly recommend it if you can.

StephensLass1977 · 22/05/2026 10:22

I would say a 16. You're in really good shape and have a lovely flat stomach.

Apologies, editing to add size 12 bottom, size 16 top. I know how it is to have big boobs but smaller everywhere else. It's a pain and you can't wear all in one stuff like dresses and jumpsuits because both halves of your body are at such odds.

Trainup · 22/05/2026 10:24

you look gorgeous whatever size you are. Get yourself to a good independent bra shop -not bravissimo! I went to one and apparently I’m a 30D.. not the 38B I had wearing for years. I look so different!

thornbury · 22/05/2026 10:35

Look up Claire Marie Howard on Instagram, she is a little taller but has a similar figure to yours. Lovely!

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 22/05/2026 10:55

Now that’s hard to say, as it depends on where you’re shopping! Those wonderful boobies wouldn’t get into a Zara, Hush or Boden dress I don’t think. If it was a supermarket I’d say probably a 14/16

AnchorWHAT · 22/05/2026 10:57

Id wear a nice skirt, maybe a nice summer one with two layers. Wear with something like a wrap ballet top that ties at the side, add a wide belt and some chunky jewellery.
i too am top heavy and find a v neck with large necklace detracts a bit but hey if you got it…. Flaunt it !

PierMastersDaughter · 22/05/2026 10:58

There’s a clothing line called Fairlie Curved that might suit you, designed for fuller busts.

user1492757084 · 22/05/2026 10:59

14 to 16. And strong and toned. Well done!

Itiswhysofew · 22/05/2026 11:01

12 or small 14. Bet you feel amazing 👏

AnchorWHAT · 22/05/2026 11:04

Oh popping back to say i recently bought a cheap top that is one with ruching but asymmetrical that falls off one shoulder, looks really nice on. Photo here

I'd also say a 14-16.

ChatGpT is good for this sort of thing as it's unbiased. So you won't have people being mean or just telling you what they thonk you want to hear! People are also often bad judged of size! I'm probsbly one of them 😅

CheeseSandwich1 · 22/05/2026 09:14

Thank you! I’ll try this too. I struggle as I’m getting into a size 12 bottom everywhere but top it could be anywhere from a size 12-16 (sometimes a 16 wont even go over the boobs!) on top because of my bust which then makes dress shopping especially really hard!

You look fabulous.

In the picture, we can't see your shoulders and this matters in relation to top sizes. I have averageish boobs, DD. Even when I was a beanpole and a 10/12 elsewhere, I often needed a 14/16 top/blouse, because the width of my wide shoulders stopped buttons meeting across the boobs. German makes and higher end clothes deal better than the High Street.

16-18 on top and 12 bottom. I think you have a lovely hour glass shape but if your boob size bothers you then you’d have to continue to lose more weight. They’d reduce eventually. Big boobs are the bane of my life too. Try shift dresses in linens and cotton. Next, Seasalt have a good selection.
