What we ate today in a calorie deficit thread

Hi all

I just thought I'd start this thread and add to it everyday as I think I struggle to figure out what to have for meals when losing weight - just thought it might help someone.

(At the moment I'm tending to have like 2 meals a day but sometimes 3 - there's no rules haha)

Breakfast

Cornflakes and semi skimmed milk with a cup of tea - 390 calories.

Half a protein bar - 70 calories.

Burger bowl - 447 calories - this was absolutely amazing, genuinely like a Big Mac haha and here's the recipe for anyone else who fancies it.. I changed it slightly.

125g - Mince beef - 155 kcal
110g - Baking potatoes - 118 kcal
17g - Cheese - 46 Kcal
20g - Ketchup - 21 kcal
20g - Mayo - 67 kcal
10g - Mustard - 9 kcal
Total 422 Kcals

Total around 907 calories which is way too low, I have about 600 left but I don't feel too good today, might have a snack later.

Oh my goodness. I could not stop eating for the day at 2pm. How do you feel when you do that? Not really peckish at dinner time and into the evening?

@Shmee1988 it works for me, weirdly. Probably not every day though. There’s something quite useful about/easy about knowing definitively that I am done for the day, rather than umming and aahing about whether I should eat x or y.

I have plenty of black coffee and sparkling water after that point, and I genuinely don’t feel hungry. I have absolutely no tolerance for hunger feelings, so wouldn’t stick to this if I did.

Will probably eat again tomorrow 9/10 am or so.

(Would add, I’ve lost something like 10kg / 22lbs over the past two months - so I have a lot of motivation to keep it up.)

overnight oats & raspberries- 400
chicken sandwich and cup soup - 450
chicken tikka pieces & salad - 500
snacks of protein yoghurt and popcorn.

did a big walk too in order to burn off hopefully at least 150

Checking in for accountability, not sure of cals but listing meals:

Porridge
Low fat quiche, salad, apple, dried figs
Dinner will be chicken fajitas

Need to lose ten pounds, summer is coming, fast!!

I felt hungry today, I had a bit of a binge yesterday and could easily have done the same today. Work was really boring, which didn’t help.

I had baked oats, yogurt and fruit for breakfast around 11.
went for a run
had leftover pork and cabbage with salad
apple and satsumas
diet Sprite
mid afternoon i had a light hot chocolate and a white kitkat
dinner was Moroccan meatballs and brocolli
sugar free jelly

I seem to have eaten a lot for 1250 calories today, which is way under my allowance. Plus I ran 5km and walked the dog.

Lovely healthy start to the day yesterday but ended in a steak roll with chips so went over calories by about 400, not atrocious!

todays delicious fare:

B- Mushroom and emmental omelette 300

L- Couscous salad with roasted chickpeas and red pepper dressing 400

D- Marinated honey bbq pork with homemade fries and coleslaw 700

had a protein pudding as a snack today for 100 so finished 1500 🥳

in the spirit of sharing lower cal meal ideas;
B: 35gm of toast with butter, boiled egg 52gms, and orange wedges 85gms (219 calories)
L: rice wrap, filled with lettuce, red pepper, ham, cream cheese. cucumber carrots and some strawberries on the side (205 calories)
S: tomato soup and an open faced tuna melt sandwich
It's very rare that I have bread twice in one day

I didn't count but typically eat similar. I've lost over 2 stone & aim to eat less than 1500 calories per day.

Breakfast: tea with milk & sugar
Kefir yoghurt with Blueberries & apple
Lunch: chilli soup
Pear
Toffee yoghurt
Vimto
Snack: digestive biscuit
Tea with milk & sugar
Tea: veg stir fry with Noodles
Rocky bar
Orange juice
Ginger ale

B: Blush pear with strawberries & raspberries
L: Smoked salmon and scrambled egg with spinach and tomatoes
T: Fishcake with salad and coleslaw
S: Coconut and cherries

Hoping for more of the same today. The salmon and eggs with spinach and tomato was particularly good and really kept me full

1300 for the day

A plant based protein muesli bar and a coffee for breakfast - 200 cal
Latte - 190 cal
Corn cakes with cream cheese, avocado, and tomato relish - 300 cal
Glass of Prosecco - 100 cal
Small serving of homemade beef casserole with steamed broccoli - approx 400 cal

Finally hoping to get properly going with this. My problem seems to getting going, I’m sure once I see some results I will find it easier.
Today
breakfast- banana porridge with ground almonds for added protein and coffee- 400
Lunch- wholemeal wrap with ham and cheese and mayo, cucumber and an apple- 440
Snack- fruit pastilles (rather more than I should have!)- 180
Dinner- Slow cooker veg curry (with cashews for protein), 2 mini naan (should have stuck to 1)- 560
Snack later- cup of tea and 4 biscuits- 380

Around 2000

More than I would like but better than it would have been if I hadn’t been thinking about it and recording- I would have eaten more fruit pastilles, more biscuits and probably had rice with the curry too.

1250 cals for me today, this is higher than I aim for but it seems to be where I am ending up most days and it’s still a good deficit for me.

Today I had:
Greek yogurt, kiwi, blueberries and strawberries
lunch was leftover Moroccan tagine from last night, but it was just the veg part.
I had a skinny protein bar (v nice) for a snack
dinner was delicious- gnocchi bolognese bake 😋
i made some sugar free jelly with mandarins that are 45 cals each, had one of those for pudding

I’ve portioned up some leftover bolognese and frozen them in my zippy freezer bag as well for future meals.

ham and salad sandwich, crisps and grapes and an iron bru - 450 cals
burger bowl - 394 cals

I've lost a stone as of this morning - only five more to go 🤣

Breakfast- cup of tea with milk and sugar and a banana. 135
Snack- 1 piece wholemeal toast with smooth peanut butter and another cup of tea. 188
Lunch- 3 jacobs cream crackers with ham and cheese and to rich tea finger biscuits 342
Dinner: 1 wholemeal pitta bread with chicken tikka chunks and lettuce with an onion bhaji. 400

1065 total so far. I think I'll have another cup of tea and a kit kat once the kids are in bed taking me to a grand total of exactly 1200!

Difficult day here (not because of food, friend in a bit of a crisis so I have a pile of kids here), so I basically haven’t eaten half the day and will just draw a line now rather than stress eat.

Hi I am enjoying reading all of the meal ideas, here are mine from yesterday:
B-half a slice of toasted sourdough with a bit of harissa and poached egg 160
L-roll with sliced chicken and cucumber and french fries crisps 450
D-2 slices of pizza, few crisps, small slice of cake (family party)800
So about 1400 but over my 1200 target. That's ok I am learning not to derail a good day with nice events. I came home and resisted scoffing more snacks.

No breakfast, new Covent Garden veg soup for lunch. Really boring but 180 cals for a giant bowl. Will have coffee, an apple and a little chocolate bar, then some chicken or fish + veg for dinner.

My weight is staying put but it’s totm so I am hoping for a drop after. Current weight 77kg, just inside a healthy BMI (I’m quite tall).

1250 cals again for me today, not enough protein! Only 50g

today I had
black coffees
2teas with milk
yoghurt and blueberries
at lunchtime (I won’t call it lunch) I had
a custard donut
2 skinny bars
a boiled egg

snack
walkers squares
an Oreo

dinner is mozzarella and tomato chicken sausages, peppers, mushrooms, brocolli and cabbage in a tray bake type thing.
possibly sugar free jelly.

a lot of junk there for the calories today

Not a bad day for me today considering we were in town this morning and at lunch time which normally would have signalled treats!

breakfast- 1 slice of toast, 1 poached egg, tomato and coffee- 283

Snack- Onion bhaji from a stall in the market, impossible to know so going 250cal. But much better than the massive donuts I was eyeing!

Lunch- Subway steak and cheese- 500

Dinner- Tuna and cheese pasta- 528

Then a cup of tea and some biscuits later

Went way over yesterday as we did our Mother’s Day meal last night. I ended up on just over 2000 calories.
I am definitely noticing that my appetite and capacity is decreased though, from several weeks of lower calories. I definitely felt myself really full at around 1500, although I did continue to eat as my boys had chosen and prepared the food. But my body naturally wanted to curb it at around that level. Interesting….
