Hi all

I just thought I'd start this thread and add to it everyday as I think I struggle to figure out what to have for meals when losing weight - just thought it might help someone.

(At the moment I'm tending to have like 2 meals a day but sometimes 3 - there's no rules haha)

Breakfast

Cornflakes and semi skimmed milk with a cup of tea - 390 calories.

Half a protein bar - 70 calories.

Burger bowl - 447 calories - this was absolutely amazing, genuinely like a Big Mac haha and here's the recipe for anyone else who fancies it.. I changed it slightly.

125g - Mince beef - 155 kcal
110g - Baking potatoes - 118 kcal
17g - Cheese - 46 Kcal
20g - Ketchup - 21 kcal
20g - Mayo - 67 kcal
10g - Mustard - 9 kcal
Total 422 Kcals

Total around 907 calories which is way too low, I have about 600 left but I don't feel too good today, might have a snack later.

Please feel free to share your foods and recipes!

Yes it’s because I was on shift so asleep until lunch time 😂. Tonight I’ll probably make up for it by having dinner at 3am.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 15/03/2025 20:58

No breakfast, a breakfast burger type thing around 11am for lunch at the local market; a bite of sugar doughnut; stir fry veg and a chicken breast grilled for dinner; two biscuits; lots of coffee. I hate eating things where I don’t know the calories, throws me totally!

TheGirlWhoLived · 16/03/2025 08:43

No breakfast,
lunch was ready meal 350, snack was biscuit 90, dinner will be grilled chicken + veg (450) + biscuit (90) , and then lots of apples and black coffee.

@TheresNoSuchThingAsBadThoughts cabbage, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower are great for volume eating. And apples.

FrenchConnection1 · 17/03/2025 15:57

What a great thread. I am trying to lose weight for myself but also I found my cholesterol was super high and it’s being tested again end of April. So a lot of my diet is intended to be low in saturated fat and high in fibre

this is approx 1350 cals

breakfast
oat bran porridge (40g) with soya milk (100ml) - 190 cals
an orange - 87 cals

lunch
merchant gourmet 3 bean chilli with lentils and chickpeas (218 cals)
artichokes in oil (305 cals)
Benecol tropical (31 cals)

dinner
cod fillet lightly dusted (200 cals)
Brussel sprouts 200g (102 cals)
fage0% (80cals)
banana (105 cals)
flaked almonds (31 cals)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/03/2025 17:34

I’m doing fast800 so it’s a big deficit for me today!

no breakfast.
black coffee
lunch- salad with balsamic vinaigrette, 75g baked halloumi, cherry toms, pepper etc
milk x 3 cups of tea
40g roast pork
grapes (v small amount, maybe 5)
dinner- cod loin baked in lemon and herbs, green beans, carrots and sprouts. 80g roast potato
skyr and blueberries
Sprite Zero

comes in at 790 cals and 52g carbs - brilliant fast 800 day.

Sallysushine · 17/03/2025 19:22

Not very hungry today so wouldn't normally eat so few calories but just not feeling it.

Breakfast - scrambled eggs with greek yoghurt (+milk in 2 cups of tea) -230 calories

Lunch - 3 chicken sausages and salad including pickled slaw. -165 calories

Dinner - Bolognese but without the spaghetti and 10 calorie jelly - 260 calories

Snacks - babybel light and protein bar - 274 calories

Total: 929 calories.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 18/03/2025 17:44

No breakfast, but Cov Garden veg soup (180) and a cookie around 10am (90), chicken on a bed of lettuce (235), cookie (90) chicken breast with veg gravy and cauliflower, carrot, mushroom, spinach - no idea on calories.

Apples, coffees. Bought some interesting herbal teas too, which are sweet without sugar added.

Down to 79.4 from 87.5 at the start of Feb. Juuuuust on the cusp of a healthy BMI.

Sallysushine · 18/03/2025 18:22

Kitchen closed 😊

Breakfast - shreddies and milk (204 cals)
Lunch - salad with egg and turkey breast, apple and babybel (265 calories)
Dinner - chicken sausage bagel with salad, strawberries and squirty cream (343 calories)
Snacks - protein bar (232 calories)

Total: 1,044 calories. Probs a bit more, nicked JUST two oven chips from my son's plate 😁

TheWayTheLightFalls · 18/03/2025 18:31

chicken sausage bagel with salad, strawberries and squirty cream

Read this as one meal and initially thought it sounded delicious @Sallysushine Grin

Hahahaha a squirty cream and strawberry bagel doesn't sound too bad actually, not sure the chicken sausage would work 😂

Minikievs · 19/03/2025 11:27

I fell off the wagon at the weekend 🙈
We did some decent walks (approx 20 miles over the two days) but it made me ravenous and I went a bit bonkers
Trying to rein it back in this week.
Greek yog & protein granola & berries (370)
Tuna salad protein flatbread & lentil crisps (430)
Jacket spud with cottage cheese (620 but BAD amount of carbs!)
Dates with peanut butter and a satsuma (250)
Total of 1670!
I should be on 1320, so reining it in is clearly not going well!
I should really get rid of the calorific dates and PB but they’re SO GOOD

TheWayTheLightFalls · 19/03/2025 13:52

Today is proving impossible to calculate.

Had another small loss overnight so now (just) into a healthy BMI, woohoo!

Apple crumble at 10am - there was a chef onsite at my work making it in front of me Grin. No idea of calories. Google reckons 500 max, so assuming 500.

Pulled pork (again, hard to quantify) and salads for lunch, cookie for dessert - 600 altogether?

Dinner will be similar I think.

SleepyRooster · 19/03/2025 18:30

Instant porridge 100
Yoghurt fat free 100
Raspberries 30
White Americano 20
Almonds 80

Tortillla 370
Seeded crisp bread 80
Guacamole 90
Radishes 20
Protein ball 150

Dinner will have to be fish/veg in order to keep under 1700.

I'm vaguely using mfp but it doesn't seem accurate
