What we ate today in a calorie deficit thread

Hi all

I just thought I'd start this thread and add to it everyday as I think I struggle to figure out what to have for meals when losing weight - just thought it might help someone.

(At the moment I'm tending to have like 2 meals a day but sometimes 3 - there's no rules haha)

Breakfast

Cornflakes and semi skimmed milk with a cup of tea - 390 calories.

Half a protein bar - 70 calories.

Burger bowl - 447 calories - this was absolutely amazing, genuinely like a Big Mac haha and here's the recipe for anyone else who fancies it.. I changed it slightly.

125g - Mince beef - 155 kcal
110g - Baking potatoes - 118 kcal
17g - Cheese - 46 Kcal
20g - Ketchup - 21 kcal
20g - Mayo - 67 kcal
10g - Mustard - 9 kcal
Total 422 Kcals

Total around 907 calories which is way too low, I have about 600 left but I don't feel too good today, might have a snack later.

i Googled how many calories should be eatting to lose weight
and worked out and it said to eat 1600 kcal a day to lose 1lb a week
id like to lose it faster then that if poss

so today so far, I’ve only eaten 1082
but I might have a banana later and that will be 100 calories
so I’ve had, and I know it’s not great and there’s room for improvement
which I’m all ears for suggestions, but
I’ve had
weetabix
100ml milk
crisps
pineapple juice 100ml
Albert Bartlett fries 100g
2 eggs
2 and half slices of ham
mushrooms
peas
sweetcorn
mellow and marsh raspberry bar
maybe a banana later
food window 1pm till well depends if I have a banana

B: chocolate almond milk protein shake with added gut powder & frozen raspberries.

D: massive salad with romaine lettuce, mixed leaves & beetroot, a mixed sprouts salad topper (alfalfa etc), M&S gut booster crunchy salad topper (plants & seeds etc), fresh coriander, avocado, Caesar dressing, roast chicken, an egg and some croutons. And a Diet Coke.

Water and a berocca. A mouthful of poached salmon I was feeding the baby.

1600kcal. 100g protein, 24.5g fibre, 4/5 of 5-a-day.

Two eggs cooked in fry light, in two pieces of sourdough bread
A gala apple
A Coke Zero
Two pittas topped with bbq sauce, lighter cheese, olives and chicken breast
Lettuce, carrot and cucumber with low fat salad cream
Arla chocolate protein pudding
Multiple cups of tea and pints of water

1597 calories and current goal is 1626 so slightly under!

Two boiled eggs
Double expresso with semi-skimmed milk

Chilli con carne
Roasted aubergine, butternut squash, red onion

More of the roasted veg plus 50g feta sprinkled on top
M&S Count on Us chocolate mousse pot

Two mugs of tea, another coffee, glass of 0% sugar cordial, no snacks

Approx 1200 calories

Two dates with peanut butter
Some fresh coconut
Salad with about a tablespoon of leftover rice, chicken breast, low fat dressing
Dinner is lemon and pesto chicken bake (ready meal as I'm back late tonight)
Satsuma and apple for snacks tonight
About 1600 all in (it bloody adds up doesn't it 😕)
1500 a day is my maintenance but I do quite a lot of exercise so if every day is like today, I'll probs lose 0.5-1lb a week

Another loss this morning, so I'm down 7.5kg overall.

B; small quantity of porridge - because the rest overflowed the bowl in the microwave! Didn't have time to make another. Whoops.

L: M&S korean chicken wrap, 560cal

D: will be Covent Garden veggie soup, 180cal

And then many many apples and cups of coffee and herbal tea.

I don't measure calories, but know that I'm in deficit.

Today I had.

B - one slice sourdough with butter and honey, cup of black coffee.
Lunch- chorizo. Courgette, peppers mushrooms and rice.
Sparkling water
Snack - small handful of peanuts and a baby bel.

Cups of tea throughout the day.

Won’t know my next loss until Monday but last week I lost 4lb. Making me 15st 13 so still large!

I am going to try and change my eating window from 10-6 from next week, not sure I’m going to be able to avoid coffee outside this though!

I had protein yoghurt, blueberries and honey - 200
banana - 75
ham salad sandwich and a packet of baked crisps, fresh bread too - yum! - 530
cattot sticks and hummus - 200
Chicken fried rice with peas (homemade) - 500
Salted caramel protein yoghurt with raspberries - 180

Another small loss overnight. I am definitely motivated / kept on track by weighing every morning.

B: Small pot of porridge with water around 11am.
L: veg ready meal, 340 cals, and a doughnut - Google reckons 250, I think it may be more.
S: will be soup, 180 cal.

I have managed to close the kitchen by 6pm the past few evenings, after an early supper.

And then a zillion coffees and apples.

Anyone mind if I join? I got my head into gear and started last Monday (3rd March) tracking everything on my fitness pal. I actually don't know what I weigh - I know it's a LOT and I reckon I could do with losing a good 5-6 stones, but I do have a tendency to get a bit obsessive with weighing, so I'm putting that off a bit for now.
So today:

B: Oat Milk Latte (it's my one day in the office today so this is a treat from the coffee shop - think I might have to switch to almond or coconut milk though to save on calories)

L: Tesco meal deal - Piri Piri Chicken salad/spicy rice thing 293 cals, Apple slice pot- 43 cals and a can of diet coke

D: will be a gym kitchen ready meal - I've got either Thai green curry or katsu chicken

@LeopardsANeutral check out your TDEE on a calculator site (you can google it) then you put in height, weight and lifestyle - sedentary/ light exercise/ physical work etc and it’ll tell you your maintenance calories for the day.

times that number by 7 to get your weekly allowance, then subtract 3500 for a 1lb per week loss, 5250 for a 1.5lb per week loss or 7000 for 2lb per week loss. Divide the number by 7 to get your daily calorie allowance.

Id say your entire days eating is about 1050 calories which if you have about 6 stone to lose is probably about 500 short at least!

This is great advice. You may be being a bit too strict with yourself @LeopardsANeutral !

Yes. Probably 3-4 a day? I have a strong preference for Jazz apples, from the fridge so they are crispy and crunchy.

I'm 💯 going to have a salted caramel and chocolate hot cross bun tonight. It'll push me into maintenance rather than deficit but they're SO GOOD

I’ve got about 2st to go. I lost nearly 3st with diet chef, it works really well for me as I struggle with portions size and often underestimate my calories if I’m doing it myself. I’m veggie though so got bored with the menu choices.

so my plan is to imitate that with ready meals so I know my calories and I’m not trying to calculate home cooking. That’s where I slip up. Then I don’t lose and give up. I also can’t slip in extra snacks and bits here and there.

so yesterday I had
toast 250
pot noodle 250
tofu stir fry 400

today
toast 250
tofu tikka masala 400
m&s bang bang cauliflower. 400

i’m staying at around 1000-1100. Plus veg, fruit, and about 100mls milk for tea and coffee. So probably an allowance of 1300-1500 day.

Feeling sick so got 250g boorek. It's like 600kcal and it was split between breqkfast and lunch. There is still some left.
I'll have a beer to get liquid and calorie intake up tho 😏

Kiwi, raspberries and protein yogurt
130g ciabatta, 200g prawns, tbsp seafood sauce on a big delicious open prawn sandwich 😋
Dinner will be chicken curry and brocolli
An apple
Sprite Zero
Comes in at 1100 calories

Todays finished well, just booked a sneaky holiday and really want to get into my smaller jeans before we go at the end of April so knocked myself down to 1500cals

40 minute Zumba class
3 coffees and 2 litres water

B: Bacon, Egg white and 2 pieces sourdough - 474
L: Mini tortilla wrap x 2 with chicken, peppers, guacamole and a little cheese - 419
T: Egg fried rice with pak choi and Chinese greens - 490

S: 10g Biscoff spread and an apple

B: Two fried eggs with a roasted cauliflower thing alongside
L: Turkey breast roast, cauliflower, cucumber
S: Rump steak, cauliflower again

Apples, coffee, two biscuits.

No breakfast today, black coffee and small slice of homemade cake mid morning. Lunch was turkey breast + stir fry veg; supper was a steak and stir fry veg again. Plus coffees and apples.
