Wanting to lose close to 10kg in time for Christmas

MangoLove · 12/09/2024 13:24

Hi, Looking for anyone that would like to join for support

Height: 5'3
CW: 87.7kg
Christmas GW: 80kg

So, I know 80kg is still high in BMI - but this will be a huge achievement for me and my body shape. I'm pretty fed up of not feeling comfortable in my clothes when seeing so many family and friends over the festive period. A bit shallow - but I want to look better!

Plan

  1. Intermittent Fasting - keeping my eating window between 1-7pm
  2. 15k steps a day - a morning walk and then walking in front of the TV after the kids have gone to bed.
  3. Water Water and more Water
  4. Choosing low calorie treats and letting myself have 1 a day!

Really trying to keep this is simple as possible so that if i fall off for a day, it will be easy to get back on track. I'm also not falling victim to the stacked high piles of chocolate tubs in the supermarkets. I will not buy a tub till December!

Would anyone like to join? We have 11 full weeks till the start of December, and at 0.5kg a week - an opportunity to be at least 5.5kgs lighter.

I'll come back every Monday to share my new weight but will obviously be here in between to muse and hopefully share some nsv's

Would love to join in!

Had success losing a couple of stone earlier this year, but been about the same since June or so.

5'7"
92.7kg

Not sure on goal weight, would be happy with 5kg by Christmas though.

I go to the gym three times a week - it's my diet that needs attention

Needanewname42 · 12/09/2024 15:28

I'll join you.
I'm 5ft 2
And currently 78kg

I'm slowly chipping away at it, primarily calorie counting. Sad and old fashioned but it's slowly 🐌 doing the job.

So many times I've gone off running trying to drop 2lb a week and failed miserably. I don't think 2lb is a reasonable goal although the diet industry use it as a advertising ploy (or at least it's not a goal for short people)

RuggedHairyTortoise · 12/09/2024 15:34

I'll join!!!!

I'm 5 ft 2 and I think 12.7 stone. 10 kilos or 22 pounds off would be fantastic.

My weigh in day is friday so I will weigh in tomorrow (bite the bullet!).

I eat very healthily generally (although yesterday I had 2 filet of fish for lunch) but I need to cut portion sizes and also plan on cutting my alcohol intake by half by alternative with water. I'm using the reducer part of the Try Dry App to monitor alcohol intake.

I am seeing family at Christmas who I have not seen since I was 3 stone lighter and they were critical then so I'd like to at least mitigate some of that.

Needanewname42 · 12/09/2024 15:54

@RuggedHairyTortoise I don't mean to piss on your chips, but realistically trying to lose 2lb a week, when your only 5ft 2 isn't very realistic, unless you have a very active job and lifestyle.

A pound is about 3500cal.

Your about the same size as me.
My BMR is about 1400, to loose a lb a week you need a deficit of 500cal per day. Which means eating less than 1000cal.

Too lose 2lb a week you'd need to be eating less than 1000cal and burning an extra 500cal per day. Unless you've got an active job or do a lot of walking that won't be easy.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/09/2024 18:36

I'd like to join you please!

I want to lose around 10 pounds, and I'm really really struggling to even stick one day to my diet at the moment. I was doing really well in July, then August and now September I have just absolutely crashed.

I'm 5'7 and weigh 152.5lbs as of today. In July I weighed 147 🤦‍♀️

I'm training for a marathon and I'll be honest, I'm finding it really hard to balance my nutrition and my training. I increase my calories to 1600 a day but that seems to have just opened the floodgates on my eating.

My plan is to go whole foods/paleo and cut out all the junk and sugar. And cut out alcohol. I'm starting properly on Monday

Namerequired · 12/09/2024 22:58

Heading to bed but commenting so I can find it again. I would love to join. Not sure what I am in kg. Was 14st 2 on Monday and I’m only 5ft 1 at a stretch.

ToddlerMumma · 12/09/2024 23:23

Yes please!
I'm 5"2, 88kg so 13st12lb I think.
Joined a gym, doing early morning classes and calorie counting. Determined to shift this weight once and for all!

Pokerprincess · 12/09/2024 23:29

I'd like to join too please. I am going to the gym and walking lots but my diet is awful! I want to do intermittent fasting too!

MangoLove · 13/09/2024 10:04

Its so nice to see you all wanting to join.

@OkyDoke – Welcome on board. Looks like you are in a good routine already. Ant plans on how you wan to clean up the diet?

@Needanewname42 – Hello & Welcome. Your weight is where I want to be lol

@RuggedHairyTortoise – Hi & Welcome. I think you can lose as much or as little as you want to. You just need to think about your short term & long term goals. And how sustainable it all is. People lost a stone in a month on Fast800 but again, its all about your long term plan. .

@thenewaveragebear1983 Hello – I’d love t hear more about your whole foods/paleo eating because I only ever hear great things about it and its effect on the body overall

@Namerequired Welcome – looking forward to getting on this journey! I used to think I was 5’5 – what a lie I told myself. I’m defo 5’3 and think I’m getting smaller

@ToddlerMumma – You can do this! I’m also wanting to shift this extra weight and maintain Forever!

@Pokerprincess - Welcome! What’s your diet like now, are there any small changes that youcan make quite easily?

I'm motivated by results and so since Sept 1st have been pretty strict with my eating and working out.

Today I got my first non-scale-victory: Another mum on the school run complimented me and said my bum looked nice😍 (I know her quite well - otherwise this might be weird).

Its only taken 12 days of walking at least 15k steps but we might be getting some bum definition!

Anyone weighing in on Monday with me?

OP posts:
Needanewname42 · 13/09/2024 11:25

I tend to jump on the scales every day - actually twice a day before and after shower.
It amuses me that I gain weight in the shower but my body composition changes. 🤪

So I take the scales with a pinch of salt but it's also good to see what water I retain after a salty takeaway.

Go you getting 15k steps in a day. That's a lot of walking. I think I'm doing great if I manage 10k a couple of day a week.

lemontova · 13/09/2024 11:51

Hiya, I'll join for extra motivation! 5ft1, about 68kg and like to be 50-55kg so a good bit of weight to lose. It's harder when you get to mid-40s I find.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/09/2024 14:16

@MangoLove I'll weigh in Monday but then I try not to weigh to frequently, I am terrible for daily weigh ins. The whole foods thing, I came to it from doing Whole 30 after lockdown, (it's very strict, no bread, no grains, no dairy, no sugar at all, no alcohol) - and I loved it, I felt so healthy! I did about 150 days sugar free! But gradually things creep back in. I don't think I'd do that fully strict again, but I definitely feel better when I don't eat bread and dairy, and oats (weirdly) and I find I can stick to my calorie allowance more easily. And with sugar, I'm a total junkie- so again, I am better without any.

Pokerprincess · 13/09/2024 23:50

Hi Mango, I eat too much bread/pastries, and not enough veg and proper meals. I'm not organised and then have sugar for quick energy. I never used to be a sugar fiend but when I gave up alcohol I craved sugar and haven't shaken it off (nearly two years off the booze). I'm going to try to have more protein less sugar and plenty of water. Your plan sounds good. 👍

Pokerprincess · 13/09/2024 23:54

Meant to say I'm only 5 foot 2 as well and over 50 I think both these things do make it harder. But I have been weight training for a year, and I can feel the muscles under the flab 🤣

raspberryripplecheesecake · 14/09/2024 00:06

Hi, I'd love to join too.
5'2"
90kg
Hoping for 80kg by Christmas

Planning to finish eating by 6pm, lots of water no snacking and getting to bed earlier (starts tomorrow). My weak spot is sourdough bread and fresh croissants, the all butter ones, with butter and jam mmm. I might have to go cold turkey on those.

Allaboutme23 · 14/09/2024 00:09

Hi All would love to join too. 5ft 9, 15.s
Going to go as unprocessed sugar free as I can, high protein and intermittent fasting, water uptake.

Would like a good 2 stone off by Christmas .Will weigh daily and reort on Fridays here.

JoelDommettsTux · 14/09/2024 00:10

Marking place to join later!

FlamingoFloss · 14/09/2024 00:14

Lovely to see the motivation ladies :)

fourelementary · 14/09/2024 00:18

Yes I think I need to join you guys too- like a pp failing to plan is definitely my downfall as I then don’t have healthy options so just eat crap

This weekend I will meal plan and shop so I aim to have -an eating window of around 10am-6pm or maybe 11-7 depending on my breakfast which I will eat in my car between visits (work in the community).

Breakfast will be granola (small weighed portion) with Greek yog and fruit in a tub to take to work and eat in my car. Plus a coffee. So 300 calories

lunch will be soup (homemade and frozen in portions) and mini oatcakes plus carrot sticks or salad 400 calories

Tea will be approx 500-600 calories… and no snacking.

SnowFrogJelly · 14/09/2024 00:22

Marking place here too..

ScandiNoirNuit · 14/09/2024 07:18

I’ll join! Currently 72.6kg, 5 foot 6, would like to lose 5kg which doesn’t sound bad but by god it is hard!
Will post more later.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/09/2024 08:14

I weighed in this morning at 152.5lbs. I am surprised actually that my summer holiday gluttony has not resulted in a lot more gain, I was 149 in July after a few months of strict dieting. I lose weight very very slowly. I think that's why I get so tired of it because I can regain a months worth of hard suffering in a night out 🤦‍♀️

Anyway, my focus needs to be on nutrition and health going forward, not just pounds. I'm officially starting Monday- I am running a half marathon tomorrow so my focus today is carbs and hydration, tomorrow I'll be entitled to some cake so Monday is the day.

It's 100 days to Christmas, pretty much- I'm hoping for 10lbs off by then!

RedHotChilliPreppers · 14/09/2024 09:20

Hi Op and everyone else.

I want to lose 10kg. I don’t think I can do it by Christmas but it’s my goal for 6 months.

I currently weigh 75kg, am 5 ft 3” and a size 14. I’ve always been really sporty and run quite a bit and you’d think I’d be stick thin, but nooooo. The menopause, eating like I’m on an all inc holiday, and drinking lots of wine have piled it on me.

It’s now got to the point where I can’t keep up with my running partners, as I am carrying round too much extra weight and it’s making my once loved activity unenjoyable.

So, this morning I weighed myself. I bit the bullet. Lately I think I just look terrible. My skin is great, I have very few wrinkles, but I’m just fat and look terrible in anything.

I’ve been super busy all year but as of today my workload has dropped and I have time for me.

Nor sure what to do as last time I went on a diet it didn’t work, but I’ll give it another shot.

Chaoseverywhere · 14/09/2024 09:25

I would love to join. 5’2” and 78.8kg
i was supposed to have major surgery last week but they wouldn’t operate party because of my weight.
i plan to use the gym
at least three times per week. Swim and bike machine. I walk a lot in general.
I overeat. Absolutely love food. Live for it and eat too much. I have ignored my fat body for years.

the hospital will see me again in 3 months and want me to have lost weight. They didn’t specify an amount of weight but I will try. I don’t have much confidence but I’ll try
