Wanting to lose close to 10kg in time for Christmas

MangoLove · 12/09/2024 13:24

Hi, Looking for anyone that would like to join for support

Height: 5'3
CW: 87.7kg
Christmas GW: 80kg

So, I know 80kg is still high in BMI - but this will be a huge achievement for me and my body shape. I'm pretty fed up of not feeling comfortable in my clothes when seeing so many family and friends over the festive period. A bit shallow - but I want to look better!

Plan

  1. Intermittent Fasting - keeping my eating window between 1-7pm
  2. 15k steps a day - a morning walk and then walking in front of the TV after the kids have gone to bed.
  3. Water Water and more Water
  4. Choosing low calorie treats and letting myself have 1 a day!

Really trying to keep this is simple as possible so that if i fall off for a day, it will be easy to get back on track. I'm also not falling victim to the stacked high piles of chocolate tubs in the supermarkets. I will not buy a tub till December!

Would anyone like to join? We have 11 full weeks till the start of December, and at 0.5kg a week - an opportunity to be at least 5.5kgs lighter.

I'll come back every Monday to share my new weight but will obviously be here in between to muse and hopefully share some nsv's

I've been practicing intermittent fasting now for a month. I have breakfast after the school run around 9 (usually either porridge or an omelette or scrambled eggs with tomatoes, spinach, peppers etc with one slice of wholemeal bread), then lunch is around 1 or 2pm and totally varies but doesn't involve any chocolate or treats etc. I have some fruit and peanut butter or something like that at around 330/4 after the school run and then thats me done for the day. Have cut out alcohol, been I'd say 95% good save for things like a tiny slide of birthday cake at a party. Have also started cycling rather than driving the kids places and started an exercise class twice a week.

Have lost 1lb...ONE. Somehow loosing a grand amount by Christmas feels completely impossible.

Feeling very dispondent.

So you think walking at any speed is ok or do you have to be going fast to burn more?

My mum walks everywhere so slowly but is so slim even at 76!!! Whereas I tend to think you have to do it fast to work? Like swearing heart rate high?

Withless · 22/09/2024 09:13

I'm losing slowly by never eating until at least 12pm, then staying lowish carb and absolutely no refined sugar although I do have a piece of fruit everyday. Two biggish healthy meals high in fibre and protein. Alcohol only at the weekend and even then not much. Three or four pints of water a day.

It's working and I've fallen off the wagon a few times but always got back on. I've lost a stone since this time last year- I know this is really slow but I'm menopausal and don't do much cardio type exercise.

Boicsgoog · 22/09/2024 14:03

Hi, I'd love to join in too!

I'm 51 & peri-menopausal.

Start: 13st 8.5lb
Current: 13st 3lb
Target by Xmas: 12st 2lb
Target: 10st 2lb
Height: 5ft 3in

Had my BP taken recently and it's crept up a bit so hoping if I lose some weight it will bring it back down.

I eat very badly ... lots of sweet sugary snacks/chocolate, barely any fruit veg or salad, skip meals and don't drink any water - usually a glass of fruit juice in the morning can of Diet Coke every afternoon/evening.

I drastically changed the way I eat two weeks ago. Started using Nutracheck. For the first week I cut out sugary snacks completely and ate minimum 5 portions fruit & veg and drank only water. Lost 4 pounds. Week two I've had the odd 'single' chocolate and someone bought me a can of Diet Coke which I didn't even enjoy (shocking). Weighing properly tomorrow hoping for 2lb but currently 1.5lb.

Trying to move a bit more. Not brave enough for classes or anything but just trying to do more steps.

Brandnewshorts · 22/09/2024 14:45

Please can I join? I would like to lose 11-12Kg. A tall order, but am going to try my best.
Current weight: 165lb
Goal weight: 139lb

I’m doing it by following Bodyslims.

Lunarvalleysinmymind · 22/09/2024 20:26

Hey all! Can I join in? I’ve been struggling to lose the last 5- 10 lbs from a very long weight loss journey and it’s driving me crazy. I know it’s not 10kg but Its just taking me bloody ages and need the motivation long term.

SW around 187 lbs (I didn’t weight myself when I started but I knew it was around that as it was after I gave birth and weighed in hosp).

CW: around 9 at 12lbs

GW: 9 st 6

i had a big bit of motivation in the summer and it’s dropped off. I really want to get back into the gym but just the motivation is so low.

any motivated people want to share what’s driving them?

TerrificallyTired · 22/09/2024 20:56

I’d like to join too.
am 42, had my second child last year and have just not really lost the weight since. Now back at work and thinly stretched, but would feel so much better if I could fit into some of my old clothes (and not look like I am still pregnant). Realistically minimal exercise will be done so this will have to be all diet. Aiming for low carb, calorie counting, and minimal snacks/alcohol.

height: 5’8”
current weight: 12st 2
goal weight by xmas: 11st
Final goal weight: 10st

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/09/2024 21:06

@Lunarvalleysinmymind I seem to have no issue getting motivated to exercise, but I do when it comes to food. With exercise, I plan it all out every week, I use a very expensive PT run outdoor training group which is too expensive to skive off and I know they will ring me if I miss a week, plus I run a few times a week. But food, that's another story!

Namerequired · 23/09/2024 08:26

Back to 14st 1, where I was, so I’m going to start here. Monday weigh ins.

SW : 14st 1
CW: 14st 1
TW for Christmas : 12st 1 (aim high, miss small)

First goal is to get into the 13s which I’m determined to do this week

AllThePotatoesAreSinging · 23/09/2024 08:57

Ok weigh in week 1
CW 85.8kg
Christmas target 76kg

ToddlerMumma · 23/09/2024 09:15

Not a good weigh in today with only 1lb off compared to last weeks 4. At least the scales are going in the right direction I suppose. 2.2kg so a fifth of the way there!
I'm going to be more mindful and stop 'forgetting' to add stuff to MFP!
Keep going all!

GallstoneGertie · 23/09/2024 09:35

I’d like to join in! 5’3” and 111kg. /17st7lb bmi 43.4
Initial goal is to get off this plateau, where I’ve been stuck for weeks. 100 kg or 16 st or bmi under 40 would be great.

had a minor gallstone attack last week, so avoiding anything that can do that to me again.

MangoLove · 23/09/2024 10:44

Always room for more positivity and motivation 👋
Welcome @Monkeysatonthewall @inneedofaglowup @okayhescereal @magicalhammerhead @iloveyoubutilovememore @Handyru @MadamTeapot @AllThePotatoesAreSinging @Boicsgoog @Brandnewshorts @Lunarvalleysinmymind @TerrificallyTired @GallstoneGertie

This week has not gone as I expected – no change in weight, which is fine I guess, If I’m completely honest with myself, I did coast through the week doing the bare minimum. I ate a lot of sweets and sometimes didn’t make the best food decisions (even though I was aware that they were bad decisions)

This weeks plan is going something like this:
Intermittent fasting 18:6, minimum 2l water a day, minimum 15k steps a day, 4 sweat inducing workouts. No bread, rice, pasta or sweets. One cheat meal over the weekend. I’d like to weigh in at about 84.5kg next Monday.

SW on 01/09: 89.1kg
CW: 85.9kg (no change om last Monday)😐
GW: 75kg

@Handyru so sorry to hear about your injury. They do say its mainly in the diet, so I’m sure you can try and make some progress either way.

@Bluebellsinthewind - Yay for another 1lb dosn

@Allaboutme23 – 6lbs, almost half a stone down. Well done you. I’m like you. I need to have a solid plan otherwise it all goes out the window (hence my non loss this week)

@okayhescereal – 1lbs down is better than a gain. You are doing all thr right things, ,your body will respond. Don’t be disheartened.

@babasaclover – I don’t know! I wish I did. I've just been walking at a very comfortable pace – don’t break a sweat at all. But think this week, I’ll either up the pace or add an incline (if I’m on the treadmill) and add some arm movement to propel me faster (if I’m outside, although I’ll probably look like a right idiot). Over covid, my mum lost so much weight from walking for 30mins every evening. I think its just a case of moving more. I assume the faster you move the quicker you lose weight – but its important for me not to overdo one day and then be a couch potato the next day.

How does everyone intend on tackling this week?

okayhescereal · 23/09/2024 10:56

Off to get myself a big drink, definitely an area requiring improvement!

Thanks for the message and creating a group for motivation :D

DrunkTinkerbell40s · 23/09/2024 11:07

Can I join please! I know I'm a bit late!!
My weight tends to yo-yo between 12st and 13st (where I currently am). When I met my husband I was 9 stone (but that was 25 years ago to be fair!)

I have a couple of friends on mounjaro at the moment and the weight is falling off them and it's left me feeling miserable at my own weight and how much I struggle to diet. I cant/wont go on mounjaro myself as I have an enlarged thyroid so don't want to risk it but I feel a bit hopeless!

Being very realistic, I would like to lose 1lb a week between now and Christmas. Maybe a stone if possible. I'm going to try and drastically reduce sugar and eat homemade stuff. I will also increase my exercise :)

MadamTeapot · 23/09/2024 12:23

Feeling positive, haven’t been snacking at all so that’s got to help. I’ve been looking at nice winter dresses in a size smaller than I am at the minute as motivation. I’d love to be comfortably a size smaller by then and enjoy clothes.

peachescariad · 23/09/2024 12:46

Can I join?
I have non existent willpower and wine is my huge issue Friday, Saturday and Sunday...basically a bottle each night.

CW - 157lbs, 5' 4" and I'm 58. I would like to lose lb a week up to Christmas.

Breakfast is always toast with cheese slices at 11am (work in a school), but I have a banana and some pretzels around 9am.
Lunch usually left overs from dinner.
Cook from scratch every night and my portion is by far smallest out of the rest of the family's...H and 2 adult DC.
Do a 45 minute jazz class once a week but I have slight arthritis in both knees.
I do roughly 8000 steps a day at work.

Looking for motivation!

DrunkTinkerbell40s · 23/09/2024 12:55

Not too bad today.
I didn't have breakfast as was busy and then thought I'll hold out until lunch.
Lunch wasn't great as had a big bowl of Rice Krispies and I made cheese scones and had half of one of those to 'test' them!

Swearwolf · 23/09/2024 13:02

I haven't eaten brilliantly this week, but I've weighed in at 64.5kg, 0.5kg down. I'll take it! Ultimate goal is 58kg, but for now, I'd be happy with 64kg by next week.

So far I've had my usual breakfast of yogurt and granola (which I know isn't great but it's low sugar granola at least), some leftover pasta for lunch, three coffees and some water. No snacks and no lunch pudding. I will be really strict with myself about alcohol this week, which I think is part of the issue.

I'm also determined to break snacking habits for the whole family, my youngest in particular is eating too much and I don't want her to develop bad habits.

UrbanDieter · 23/09/2024 13:41

Just get started with something you can do for life. Don't worry about dropping the weigh fast.

Withless · 23/09/2024 13:44

Water and black coffee until 12.30, then eggs, spinach and chicken all cooked together with a sprinkling of cheese and a nectarine.

I'm going to have half a piece of toast and marmite at 4

Then a cauliflower and sweet potato curry.

Boicsgoog · 23/09/2024 16:20

Monday weigh in:

Just 1lb off for me!

SW: 13st 7lb
CW: 13st 2lb

Goal for the week is to get into the 12's by next Monday's weigh in!

Needanewname42 · 23/09/2024 20:20

78 kg SW
79 kg CW

Completely going in the wrong direction. I'd been going so good to. I'd been hoping to get down to 76kg (12st) in 3 weeks.
Just need to be super careful this week.

Calliopespa · 23/09/2024 20:27

RuggedHairyTortoise · 12/09/2024 15:34

I'll join!!!!

I'm 5 ft 2 and I think 12.7 stone. 10 kilos or 22 pounds off would be fantastic.

My weigh in day is friday so I will weigh in tomorrow (bite the bullet!).

I eat very healthily generally (although yesterday I had 2 filet of fish for lunch) but I need to cut portion sizes and also plan on cutting my alcohol intake by half by alternative with water. I'm using the reducer part of the Try Dry App to monitor alcohol intake.

I am seeing family at Christmas who I have not seen since I was 3 stone lighter and they were critical then so I'd like to at least mitigate some of that.

Good luck tortoise. I’m rooting for you as that is horrible your family were critical.
