Wanting to lose close to 10kg in time for Christmas

MangoLove · 12/09/2024 13:24

Hi, Looking for anyone that would like to join for support

Height: 5'3
CW: 87.7kg
Christmas GW: 80kg

So, I know 80kg is still high in BMI - but this will be a huge achievement for me and my body shape. I'm pretty fed up of not feeling comfortable in my clothes when seeing so many family and friends over the festive period. A bit shallow - but I want to look better!

Plan

  1. Intermittent Fasting - keeping my eating window between 1-7pm
  2. 15k steps a day - a morning walk and then walking in front of the TV after the kids have gone to bed.
  3. Water Water and more Water
  4. Choosing low calorie treats and letting myself have 1 a day!

Really trying to keep this is simple as possible so that if i fall off for a day, it will be easy to get back on track. I'm also not falling victim to the stacked high piles of chocolate tubs in the supermarkets. I will not buy a tub till December!

Would anyone like to join? We have 11 full weeks till the start of December, and at 0.5kg a week - an opportunity to be at least 5.5kgs lighter.

I'll come back every Monday to share my new weight but will obviously be here in between to muse and hopefully share some nsv's

@Chaoseverywhere I'm guessing the hospital will want your BMI to be under 30. Which will be about 11st 12 or 75kg.

Today I'm sitting at 12st 4.2 I want to be under 12st in 4 weeks. I had wanted to get down to 11st 12 and out of obese but I can't see it happening. I'd rather stick with an achievable goal than go unachievable and fall of the wagon.

lavenderboux · 15/09/2024 15:30

Would love to join!
I'd like to lose 5kg by December. The weight has slowly crept up over the last 18 months and some of my old favourite clothes just aren't fitting like they used to. I'm noticing it in photos, too.

I feel like I've tried lots of different things to shift the pounds but with no real plan, so have never stuck to anything. With Christmas 3 months away I'm determined to make it happen now!
SW: 68.5kg
GW: 63.5kg

Barbadosgirl · 15/09/2024 15:44

Lovely to see some fellow shorties on here! 5’2” and 11 st 13. My aim is five pounds off by Christmas by calorie counting. I have the weight loss kitchen book and am following the 28 day eating plan in there.

Thelondonone · 15/09/2024 15:46

I need all of the help you can give me. Going skiing at Christmas and would like to not have to drag 89kg on my 5’5 frame again-it’s hard! I will start if tomorrow and vaguely fast 800.

Teaandchocolate2222 · 15/09/2024 15:53

I'm going to try to shift 5kg between now and Christmas. Planning to stick to 1600 cals a day maximum which will mean dropping my nightly glass or two of wine. Greek yogurt with homemade muesli and blueberries for breakfast, then dinner with family. An egg white omelette if I'm hungry in between

Bluebellsinthewind · 15/09/2024 16:49

Would like to join please.

Starting weight 12st 9Ibs
Calorie counting using Nutracheck
My scales day is a Friday

Definitely need to increase my exercise daily.

Good luck everyone.

TwilightAb · 15/09/2024 16:55

I'll join as well. Overall to get down to my ideal weight I need to lose 5 stone which I know is a massive amount of weight. Ideally by Christmas I'd like to have lost 1.5 to 2 stone depending on how it goes. I lost quite a bit last year doing IF and calorie counting and felt great. I've since piled it back on. So for me I'll be doing IF , up my water intake and curt out sugar and bread as that is what piles it on for me.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/09/2024 17:53

I ran a half marathon today, in a good time as well, so I'm enjoying one last day of gluttony before starting tomorrow.
I was acutely aware of how sluggish and heavy I felt and also how much quicker I could have been if I'd not been dicking around since getting back from our holiday (on 3rd August 🤦‍♀️) so it's a stark reminder that I actually feel so much better when k eat properly and treat myself well.

ToddlerMumma · 16/09/2024 09:48

Did my weigh in today and I'm down 4lbs so now at 13st8lbs Halo calorie counting really works and I'm hoping the hunger decreases this week as my body realises I don't need as many! Did a training session in the gym and will do 2 more fat burn classes this week
Good luck to you all, hope your scales are also moving in the right direction

MangoLove · 16/09/2024 10:41

Welcome to the group. Its fairly new, but i feel like it will be a good one!

@thenewaveragebear1983 100 days to Christmas is wild isn’t it! Well done on your weeks weigh in. Keep at it. And then a half marathon! That’s amazing. The thought of that scares the life out f me. I could walk from here to Timbuktu, but as soon as it becomes a jog, I’m out! Have you been running for a while?

@ToddlerMumma Well done on your 4lbs down this week! That's a nice jumpstart and morale booster isn't it?

The last week (Mon-Fri) was really good. Over the weekend, I managed 2 Gin & Tonics, 2 glasses of prosecco a ring donut and a jam donut! I don't feel that bad about it - but don't intend to do it again this weekend. I kept up with my steps and IF so, the plan is just to get back on it again today! I walked a total of 131,895 steps last week.... hoping the cellulite at the back of my thighs gets the message soon 😂

Last week Mon: 88.2kg
CW: 85.9kg (down 2.3kg/5.07lbs)
GW: 75kg

Please can I join? I'll weigh in tomorrow morning. I'm also short (5'2") and want to have another go at working out healthy eating. I think my problem is getting so far on something like Fast 800, no bread, no sugar etc, and then the minute I fall off the wagon I start eating sandwiches and pasta and biscuits. I think I could ditch biscuits and sugar if I didn't have to ditch bread and pasta too. I'm going to try two meals a day, except on days where I have a late exercise class, where I might need a small snack to keep me going before I start (can't have dinner before working out, it makes me feel sick). Aiming for healthy food with lots of veg, but not low carb every day.

lemontova · 16/09/2024 13:03

Is everyone weighing in on the same day? I'm going to be pretty strict (no alcohol, no bread/pasta, no sugar or UPFs), but allow myself a few drinks on Friday evenings, and one treat meal at the weekend. Crisps, wine, buttered fresh bread are my downfall - not so bothered about chocolate to be honest but I would happily live on buttery toast, crisp sandwiches and wine, if it didn't make me so fat and unhealthy! Maybe the odd cinnamon bun too just for balance.

Barbadosgirl · 16/09/2024 16:53

I weigh every day so you might get tired of that but we could agree a day for check in weights if that would be helpful for people?

scarboroughcaravan · 16/09/2024 17:18

I would like to join. 5ft 6in and currently 13st, have managed to lose a paltry 4lbs since the start of August.
I tried intermittent fasting for about 3 weeks and lost nothing, so now trying calorie counting using the NHS app which suits me better.
I've not set a specific goal, but need to lose at least 2 stone which I know isn't possible before Christmas. I'd be happy to be 10lbs down by Christmas.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/09/2024 17:28

I've had a much better day today, first day in a very long time where I've not eaten toast, biscuits and general rubbish. Walked 5km with the dog this morning. I had avocado, egg, mayo and tomatoes for breakfast. I did some batch cooking so I made breakfast boxes with scrambled egg, sweet potato, and seasoned pork mince hash, and I also made a cottage pie for tonight, then I took a few scoops of the mince and absolutely bulked it out with veg, lentils, tinned tomatoes and loads of seasoning- these are packed up with a scoop of mash on the side. Had that for lunch and have had only fruit for snacks . I'm not going to calorie count for a few days, just spend a few days getting my head back in the game and not craving bread and sugar. I already feel better and less bingey.

Barbadosgirl · 16/09/2024 19:52

Am loving the meal plan in my new book. Breakfast raisin bran flakes, lunch jam sandwich and dinner chilli con carne. I actually could not finish the dinner and saved the leftovers (front page news as far as I am concerned! 1300 cals so enough for a glass of wine when the kids are in bed!

MangoLove · 16/09/2024 20:01

The more the merrier! Welcome @TooExtraImmatureCheddar and @scarboroughcaravan

@lemontova I step on the scales daily like @Barbadosgirl - but really only take my Monday reading for comparisons - I'm not really sure when everyone weighs in. Would Mondays work for you? What day is everyones weigh in day?

@thenewaveragebear1983 Today has been good for me too. IF, lots of water and my only snack was a chocolate covered rice cake. I'm trying to limit the snacking and have bought very few in the weekly shop. I did an hours walk this morning and hoping to get another hour (or 90mins) this evening while watching Netflix.

I feel like the penny has finally dropped for me and this weight needs to come off and for good. Christmas is my 1st milestone - but i also have a mini girls trip mid October that I'd love to be smaller for. I'll still be the biggest, but I want to be a smaller me!

Monday weigh in check is a good idea- encourages me not to go crazy on the weekend!

Namerequired · 17/09/2024 16:57

Well my 1st Monday wasn’t a good weigh in! Weighed 4lb on! Hoping it’s not all real weight but I didn’t eat well. I ate and drank out on Saturday, and then Sunday hangover was full of sugar. Oops! Try again this week 🙈

Barbadosgirl · 17/09/2024 21:16

If you drank on the weekend it might be water retention!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/09/2024 21:44

Had a great day yesterday, had an awful day today- ate loads of crap and chocolate 🤦‍♀️ in my defence I came on today and I'm really tired and frazzled and hormonal. Will rey again tomorrow

Bluebellsinthewind · 18/09/2024 22:30

@Namerequired sorry your weigh in wasn't great. Agree with pp, could be water weight.

Think my eating has been ok this week. Have noticed a change in my face less puffy etc and think I've lost inches all over my body. I've lost 9 pounds over the past couple of months at 1 pound a week, so hopefully it's starting to show. My downfall this week has been alcohol, wine or gin at night watching TV.

Hope everyone is getting on well.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/09/2024 06:20

I had another difficult day yesterday. I'm not feeling 100% and I have hurt my hip running and it makes me very grumpy, nothing touches the pain and it's aggravated by sitting which is what I do all day at work so it gets quite hard to manage. I self soothed with toast and custard creams. My meals have been great because I batch cooked some really healthy stuff and portioned it out. Problem is I am supplementing this with rubbish, and it's not even nice stuff, it's the kids biscuits and white bread. I can't seem to snap myself out of it.

I really find the change in seasons hard, this time of year is worse for me than the depths of winter. Even though it was beautiful and sunny yesterday. It really affects my mood overall.

Swearwolf · 19/09/2024 06:57

Am I too late to join you all? I'm 5'2", 65kg and aiming for 58kg overall. 62kg by Christmas would be lovely.

My problem is working from home, I sit down all day and snack a lot. My other problem is drinking alcohol! I know what I need to do.

I fluctuate a lot and sometimes will get into a great rhythm with it and the weight will start to come off. The key is regular exercise, if I get that in not only do I burn a few calories but it curbs my appetite, makes me less likely to want unhealthy stuff, and gets me out of the house at a time when I might be having a little gin. I fell out of routine over the summer but now the kids are back at school I can get back into it. Three runs a week (I'm slow) and one or two yoga.

LilyBobtail1 · 19/09/2024 07:09

I'd love to join too, I'm 5'4" and 73kg, I want to lose 10kg overall but if I could lose 5 by Christmas I'd be very happy!

I plan to calorie count but at the moment I just seem to give up and over eat most days so I'm not losing anything. Hopeful this thread might give me some motivation!
