Nice, easy four pounds in September. Who's with me?

I want to drop four pounds in September - a nice, easy target of a pound a week.

Yesterday, I was 8st 4lb. I want to get down to 8st. I'm a short-arse so this would take me into the 'healthy' BMI range.

I'll be:
Calorie restricting (1,500 a day at maximum)
Abstaining from alcohol
Limiting puddings to one a day after tea
Aiming to work out twice per week but definitely managing one time

Would anyone like to join me?

Yes. But I am much heavier than you and much more to lose overall... I'm 17 stone and 4.5 pounds. So I think losing four pounds is a good start for me. I am tall but not tall enough for this weight! 😂
I will be calorie counting and walking every day to work.

MaxEye · 02/09/2024 11:34

@TheSparkling Woohoo!! Four pounds will be a great start. How far is your walk to work? I walk the dog for about a mile-ish a day but she's very old and very slow so I doubt it burns a thing 😅

I'm trying to lose half a stone can I join in. It's difficult to stay motivated but I'm desperate to lose it as my blood pressure is too high.

HarrietHillbilly · 02/09/2024 11:41

I will try this too. I'm struggling a bit with motivation as I'm just trying to lose an annoying bit of waist fat and I'm still breastfeeding so I keep thinking oh never mind, it'll come off when I stop bf so no point trying and I might as well eat the cake! Which is stupid.

I'm 9st7lb, would like to be 9st3lb by end of September. Thank you for starting this OP!

MaxEye · 02/09/2024 11:42

@PrincessofWells Absolutely, come along.

I want to lose at least half a stone, probably more, but I'll start with 4 so I'll join you!

If I dropped 4 pounds that would take me back to my starting point weight at the beginning of this summer holidays. Last summer I was 11st 8 and felt so much happier, felt energised and fitter, clothes fit better, amazing the difference just a few pounds makes psychologically as well. Over the winter I went back up to about 12st 2/3 with a few pounds constantly going on and off no matter what I did. Since then I've really felt the difference in my body, aching joints and hip and back getting very stiff. No idea if it's my weight or just I'm another year older, but carrying excess weight can't be good. Currently 12st 4 after all the crappy food had recently treating the kids, so ideally would drop 4 this month and then can try to drop another 4 (at least) to get me closer to where I'd like to be. I've got a city break planned for mid October so that would be a good goal.

I'm planning to get back to:

  1. low carb/keto, so no junk, no sugar. Started a sugar free thing on here but no difference so far.
  2. Regular yoga classes
  3. Regular weights at gym
  4. Stop bloody snacking!

Good luck everyone!

TheSparkling · 02/09/2024 11:55

@MaxEye my walk is about 25 minutes one way so a good distance really. I too have an elderly and lethargic whippet who has no desire for a brisk walk! It's enough to persuade him out of the house once a day.
Hi to everyone who's joined in!

carolinesbaby · 02/09/2024 11:59

I’m currently 91kg with a BMI of 28, and would need to get down to 80kg to take me into the healthy range on the chart. That’s roughly 1 stone 11lb. Which is a lot, for me!
I reckon 1lb a week would a doable amount and if I can do 4.5lb in September it’ll get me off to a good start , so I’m in!

so, no alcohol
no petrol station choccy bars
no shop-bought sandwiches or meal deals
limit take out Starbucks to once a month
way more veg on every plate.

any ideas for things I can have for lunch on the go? I’m in the car a lot in the week and don’t have a set lunch time or access to a fridge or microwave like a work canteen. Quite often I don’t get a lunch break at all, just the drive between one place and the next, but without being able to plan for it in advance and it feels a waste making a packed lunch that I can’t then eat.

carolinesbaby · 02/09/2024 12:03

Last year I was in a fixed workplace and I did slim fast with a work friend, went down to 84kg and felt amazing. Dropped a dress size, I’d be so pleased to be back at that level. Typically with that type of diet it all went back on once I stopped the slim fast though.

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 02/09/2024 12:09

I’m in. I’ll weigh tomorrow.

I’ve been doing OMAD which seems to be working well but have had covid so stopped for a bit.

I walk a minimum of 3 miles a day and workout either at the gym or at home 3/4 times a week.

I’m around the 9 stone mark but short like you and the heaviest I’ve ever been. I would like to get to 8 stone but 4lb will do!

tinymoon · 02/09/2024 12:15

Yes please, I’d like to join in 👋🏻
I spent the last few weeks of the summer holidays eating really unhealthily and put on a few pounds, very disappointingly. So now I’d like to get into a healthy eating regime, hopefully with a few work outs thrown in! Will do a weigh in tomorrow too, so I can monitor if it’s working.

MaxEye · 02/09/2024 12:24

Hello to all the new joiners!

@carolinesbaby Have you tried Huel type stuff for on-the-go lunches? I find it absolutely rank but DP swears by it when he has no time to prepare and/or eat lunch properly. But its not exactly low-processed 😬

@TheSparkling Oh, that's a nice distance to get some good steps in. Loving the sound of your elderly whippet. The thing is that mine sometimes has these random energy-spurts where she'll absolutely whizz around her walk (then sleep for a full 48-hours). I have no prior warning of when she'll get these bursts of energy.

@carolinesbaby what about soup in a thermos? So comforting especially when the summers been rubbish! Or salad with plenty of fish/egg/chicken. Nothing wrong with a sandwich/wrap though, so long as you fill it with the right things.

Shesellsseashellsontheseasure · 02/09/2024 12:46

This is something I can actually join in on and feels achievable. I don't know what my current weight is but it's a lot!

LazyLeopard · 02/09/2024 12:49

Yep - me! I have a fair bit to lose, and did join another thread a few weeks ago, but then set myself up to fail.

I'm going away on 20th September, and would like to lose my 4lbs by then. Hopefully then my clothes will fit!

Edit to add: Calorie counting, and back to the gym/running. Plus no alcohol in the week.

MaxEye · 02/09/2024 12:53

@Shesellsseashellsontheseasure Four pounds is really do-able. Welcome!

@LazyLeopard Losing four pounds by 20th September would mean just over a pound a week. That feels do-able. Welcome!

Accbabymom1994 · 02/09/2024 12:55

Shesellsseashellsontheseasure · 02/09/2024 12:56

I'll step on the scales tomorrow morning and set myself a goal weight for October 1st

I'll try to eat less and move more and see where that gets me! Accountability time 😭

MaxEye · 02/09/2024 12:57

@Accbabymom1994 Well done on the 21 pounds so far since July, amazing work. Welcome!

Thanks @MaxEye ! First step today, instead of having a 'pudding' after lunch today, I had a diet coke and did something nice (went to buy a new notepad!)

Willthiswork78 · 02/09/2024 14:14

Yes please. I'm 150lb and would like to be 136lb by Christmas.

MaxEye · 02/09/2024 14:14

@LazyLeopard Woohoo, that's great news. I find that diet soft drinks are a lifesaver in the mid-afternoon slump. While they're not healthy, they're low calorie. Please can we see the notepad? I love stationery!
