Nice, easy four pounds in September. Who's with me?

MaxEye · 02/09/2024 10:51

I want to drop four pounds in September - a nice, easy target of a pound a week.

Yesterday, I was 8st 4lb. I want to get down to 8st. I'm a short-arse so this would take me into the 'healthy' BMI range.

I'll be:
Calorie restricting (1,500 a day at maximum)
Abstaining from alcohol
Limiting puddings to one a day after tea
Aiming to work out twice per week but definitely managing one time

Would anyone like to join me?

Yesterday was a good day for me food-wise at 1400cals. Not so good with exercise because I didn't do any.

But, today I'm hoping my period stays away just long enough for me to get to the gym later on. Food-wise, I'm planning a super-healthy tea of salmon and cous cous salad. So, go me!

Hope everyone has a lovely day today.

@MaxEye your salad sounds delicious. I’m having prawn salad probably with sriracha sauce to jazz it up.

ThatsCute · 03/09/2024 10:25

Count me in! My BMI today is 23.1, and 4 pounds off would be 22.4. I’ve been trying to eat within an 8 hour window every day, to stick to 1500 calories on MyFitnessPal, and to exercise for 30 minutes x4 days / 10 minutes x3 days.

Magnolia82 · 03/09/2024 10:47

@MaxEye It's nice to find a fellow shortie! I weighed this morning and I'm 8st4. I use Happy Scale to track my weight and it really fluctuates between 8st2 and 8st5. I'd really like to be at a consistent 8st by the end of Sept (so I think that means we have the same goal?). Ideally my target is less than this, but one step at a time.

Do any fellow shorties have any tips? I eat really healthily but really have far too much belly fat (look pregnant!) with thin arms & legs.

BoeotianNymph · 03/09/2024 10:55

Can I join? I'm tall and was always slim and able to eat what I like but since DC and hitting 40 my waistline has expanded and a second chin has appeared. I've been aiming to lose 4 lb for years but sadly I haven't lost anything at all! Comfort eating sugar is my downfall 😭

OlivejuiceU2 · 03/09/2024 12:41

Just weighed and it was not as bad as I was expecting but still not great. 8 stone 9 pounds which is not far off my full term pregnancy weight. For my height and build I definitely red to get down to 8 stone.

my stomach is gross, very flabby so need to focus on belly fat.

Sadly, I too, am too short for my weight😁
But also bloody menopause…so nothing really left to cut out. Booze went years ago, sugar/carbs are already minimal. I’d estimate I'm a good 10kg heavier than I’d like…Anyone here midlife with any tips?
It was so easy in my 20’s, lay off the chocolate and crisps for a week or two and goal weight!

MaxEye · 03/09/2024 13:00

Welcome to all the newcomers!!

I am pinching too short for my weight 😂

I think I’m in peri. I hate that I took for granted that I used to eat anything!

I'm pinching it too @Dolliesdisasterousdayout @user7853156780 5ft1 and in the last couple of years have shot up from early 8st to nearly 10st, I'm mortified at myself. I've always been able control my weight with a sort of fast/sort of cut back/exercise, but injury/age/hormones/a bucket load of wine a night has firmly hit home and this has to be a slow and steady, no fad diet thing.

Just heading off to the gym!

TerroristToddler · 03/09/2024 17:38

Also a shortie at 5ft 2.

Ideal weight for me is around 125lbs - it's middle of healthy weight and easier to maintain once I get there.

But I'm current 136lbs (eek) and have struggled to get to 130 since my second child (now 3yrs old!!!). Its like my resting weight has dramatically increased

HarrietHillbilly · 03/09/2024 17:45

@MaxEye can I suggest a weigh in day once a week, where anyone who wants to can say how much they've lost so far? The fear of announcing a gain would motivate me! 🤣 Like every Tues or something (1st Oct is a Tues and the end of the challenge)?
No worries if you don't fancy it, I don't want to hijack!

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 03/09/2024 20:11

@HarrietHillbilly I’m up for that! Any day works for me. I weigh in with my PT in a Thursday but tend to weigh daily to see fluctuations!

Magnolia82 · 03/09/2024 20:29

@HarrietHillbilly I'm also up for that. Happy to do every Tues?

WafflesOrIceCream · 03/09/2024 21:45

@HelloDaisy So I love my breakfast so I have it at 10am.I avoid eating after 6pm-then break my fast at 10am the next morning. In between I can have water, and my green tea.

Some people choose to stop eating at 8pm then break their fast at 12pm the next day but I do what suits me.

Magnolia82 · 04/09/2024 09:45

A question for those who are short, with not too much to lose ... how many calories a day do you find you need to eat to lose weight? It just doesn't feel sustainable (or healthy) for me to cut my calories anymore. I'm 8st4 but not lost any weight for months, even though I've been really trying!

OlivejuiceU2 · 04/09/2024 10:49

@Magnolia82 I’m 5ft2 and 125 pounds so my maintenance calories (stay the same weight) should be around 1250 calories which really is not a lot so I have to be really active to loose any weight to compensate.

I don’t do high intensity exercises just lots of steps, eat clean (so avoid processed foods) and reduce drinking calories. It takes a while but I start to see it come off after a few weeks. Not loads of weight but gradually reduces.

MaxEye · 04/09/2024 17:24

@HarrietHillbilly Yes! Let's definitely do Tuesday weigh-ins!

@Magnolia82 I need about 1,800-ish to maintain my weight and about 1,400 to lose weight. Fuck knows what happens in the middle of these two 😅I have quite a fast metabolism (though slowing in old age!) and do quite a bit of exercise.

I've come home from work today to find that DP has really kindly made a shepherd's pie 😮
I'll have a sensible portion but not exactly a nice, light meal for my big September push.

Here's what I had last night - with salmon. Quite a contrast 😂

@MaxEye I wish mine cooked!

Whaleandsnail6 · 04/09/2024 21:55

I'm happy as I managed to resist cake at work today!

I dont even like cake that much but in the past I would have eaten it because it was there and everyone else was having some. I kept reminding myself that later on, I would be happy I hadnt had any and I am glad. Someone else had brought in kitkats (everyone loves to feed where I work!) and I had one of those instead...in the past I'd have had both. Still managed to stay under my goal even with the kitkat on my fitness pal so quite a successful day in that I can still have a little treat in moderation but be firm with myself not to eat something just because it is there.

LazyLeopard · 05/09/2024 07:48

Bit of a fail yesterday, after losing yesterday I’ve put it back on this morning, but that’s because DH and I can’t be trusted with a bottle of wine, and the kids kindly bought chips when we went out for our final ‘end of hols’ trip out. I’m going to be super strict today.

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 05/09/2024 08:01

@Whaleandsnail6 my office is like that. Luckily I can work from home which is easier as I don’t have treats in the house.

TerroristToddler · 05/09/2024 10:18

Day 3 or 4 for me (can't remember if I started on Mon or Tues!)... anyway I weighed today and I'm down to 135.2lbs so just over 1lb off. Hoping it keeps going for the next few days.

I'm calorie counting and eating 1,200 cals a day (my maintenance calories are around 1,700). Has been very busy this week with work plus kids going back to school/preschool at different times so haven't exercised at all - planning to get back on my Peloton once life settles down a bit more next week. For now, the calorie counting will have to do!
