Nice, easy four pounds in September. Who's with me?

MaxEye · 02/09/2024 10:51

I want to drop four pounds in September - a nice, easy target of a pound a week.

Yesterday, I was 8st 4lb. I want to get down to 8st. I'm a short-arse so this would take me into the 'healthy' BMI range.

I'll be:
Calorie restricting (1,500 a day at maximum)
Abstaining from alcohol
Limiting puddings to one a day after tea
Aiming to work out twice per week but definitely managing one time

Would anyone like to join me?

Nice one @TerroristToddler

I'm hitting the gym later for a bootcamp class. No-one else is currently booked in for it so it'll be an accidental PT session 😅

Food is: Falafels and salad for lunch; homemade chicken curry for tea.

@LazyLeopard and @TerroristToddler do you both weigh daily?
I do most days as it’s quite interesting to see the fluctuations especially if I’ve had something quite salty, if I’ve slept badly and where I am in my cycle etc. I try not to focus too much on

According to the scales and weekly PT check in this morning I’m 2.5lbs down since Tuesday but it’s likely to go up again tomorrow 😂.

goingdownfighting · 05/09/2024 11:25

I'm in. I'm doing 16:8 and back in it today. I'll weigh myself tomorrow and take it from there.

LazyLeopard · 05/09/2024 11:44

Well done @Dolliesdisasterousdayout !!! That's incredible! Have you said what you're doing food wise? I will go and check.

Yes, I weigh daily, it helps keep me focused, and now that I'm doing 'the right thing' but also, it helps m know when my period is coming 😂

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 05/09/2024 12:20

@LazyLeopard (love your name btw). I’m doing OMAD because I’m too lazy to calorie count. I just make sure that that one meal is healthy and nutritious. I’m not super strict so going away this weekend I won’t turn down meals out and will enjoy whatever is on offer. Once I start eating I find it hard to stop so like having a ‘window’. I can have the chocolate gateau but do I really want that as my one meal? Mostly not!

Yep I tend to weigh daily and then the app where I log my weight automatically shows the general trend using averages from past weeks' weights. Makes it less scary when the scale goes up after a salty meal, as you can see the general trend is downward and it kind of cancels out the 'noise' of fluctuations.

Amazing result - well done! Keep going!

Have been tempted by OMAD.... how do you find it? Have been considering this but worried I'll be super hungry from lunch onwards.

I tend to do a loose 16:8 where I stop eating about 9pm (dinner late due to kids!) and then don't eat again till perhaps 1:30/2pm the next day which is usually v light, such as soup for 150cals. However, often find once I've had that late lunch I feel snacky all the way up to my big dinner where I eat most of my daily cals.

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 05/09/2024 23:24

@TerroristToddler mostly fine! I realised that a lot of my hunger was boredom or thirst rather than hunger. I also think that you get used to it. If I’m desperate I just have my meal earlier than planned but I find evenings harder (again boredom rather than hunger). I did 18:6, 20:4 and then omad.

tinymoon · 06/09/2024 09:18

Morning everyone. I put on a pound since I weighed myself a couple of days ago, so going in the wrong direction. Still saying positive though, had a healthy breakfast of porridge so happy with that. Saw a couple of mums at the school gates looking very svelte after the summer hols so that gave me a bit of inspiration! Enjoying reading your posts too.

I weigh in daily and I think the fluctuations are because the fat is being melted with turns into fluid and then after a while leaves the body then the numbers come down , well that's my own theory lol.

HarrietHillbilly · 06/09/2024 11:07

Morning, hope you're all feeling positive going into the weekend! I've got an event tomorrow at my husband's work which involves a mandatory massive burger, so I'll have to be extra healthy the rest of the time to offset it! I do tend to allow a treat on weekend days anyway, but I prefer to reserve it for cake rather than burgers. Never mind!

Hope you can all stay strong in the face of weekend temptation!

Wigtopia · 06/09/2024 11:11

thanks for the thread! I started trying to “get my head in the game” last week and just seen this thread this morning.

not 100% about conversion as I’m doing in kg rather than lbs. I am weighing in on Friday mornings and So far going in the right direction!

goos luck everyone!

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 06/09/2024 12:05

@Wigtopia I measure in kg too usually. I use nutracheck which translates it into lbs and stones.

MaxEye · 06/09/2024 12:44

Hi everyone!

Hope you're all feeling strong for the weekend ahead. I'm planning on cheese scones for lunch tomorrow, salmon and risotto for tea. No booze.

Not sure about Sunday but I've found a few new recipes we might give one of them a try. Again, no booze.

I've got a PT session tomorrow morning which is good but isn't always as much of a workout as I'd like (PT gets obsessive with posture and form, rather than just getting me working and out of breath).
But I went to a bootcamp class yesterday and I was the only one there - now that was a bloody workout 😅

Celebrating a small win in that I've lost a pound. Hoping its not just water fluctuations and is actually a loss!

Getting used to my new eating plan, it doesnt feel too hard at the moment, just need to stick to the exercise.

Congratulations! Every pound make a difference

poshme · 07/09/2024 13:39

Can I join?

Stepped on scales this morning and a bit sad to find I'm creeping up towards 11 stone.
My ideal weight is 9.5

1lb a week seems doable!

Plan- move more- esp walking the dog and actually going to the gym
Drink less alcohol during the week
Lower carb and IF.
Stop evening snacking. I love peanuts and eat far too many.

MaxEye · 07/09/2024 13:43

Welcome @poshme That looks like a great plan for the month!

Had a PT session this morning which was hard work (its not always which can br frustrating) so I'm hoping that's a couple of hundred calories off.

I'm 3lb down today from Monday whoo! However I know that's just because my period ended so at least 1-2lb of that will be hormonal fluctuation, because I'm regularly gaining and losing about 2lb no matter what I eat.

This week I did a yoga session, stopped sugar, had no alcohol, and increased my step count. On the downside I've done something to my back which is agony, so don't think I'll be able to get to the gym this weekend as planned, but will do more yoga sessions and see if that helps. Tonight I'll be eating a slow cooked chicken dish (low carb). I deliberately made sure I'd meal planned so no temptation to get on just eat or anything 'because it's the weekend' as I often do.

Good luck this weekend everyone!

poptake · 07/09/2024 14:19

I've got 4lb to lose to get to my target weight I haven't been for a few years, which is a BMI of around 22 for context I think. Would like to lose it this month.

I've lost 12lb since June very gradually, I'm not calorie counting, I've just done it by cutting out UPF so I'm hoping it will be maintainable as it's a lifestyle choice I've made rather than a diet. But to try to get to target this month I'm going to cut out alcohol and I'm hoping an increase in exercise might help a little so will up my activity a bit and see how that goes.

0BonneMaman0 · 07/09/2024 14:33

I'd love to lose 4lbs. I have loads more to lose... but like the idea of taking it in small steps!

It would bring me down to the next stone... I'll join you op.

My main aim is not to drink, eating plants, fish, low carb high protein
An hour if exercise a day.
