Hi! I just went searching for any bodyslim threads because I'm starting on 17th.

Astonetogo · 07/01/2024 09:30

Hi! 👋 Glad to have found some company on here! I’m excited to start, hoping to lose a stone over the 10 weeks!

Hi! 👋 Glad to have found some company on here! I’m excited to start, hoping to lose a stone over the 10 weeks!

Me too! I have about 2.5 stones to go.

I have 1.5 stone to lose to put me back into the healthy BMI range - so my goal is to lose that weight first, hopefully in the 10 weeks and then see where I'm at and whether I should sign up for the second course later.

I generally get 10k steps in everyday but slightly worried about trying to find a dedicated hour for walking. Hoping my boss doesn't mind me taking a bit longer lunch break!

Astonetogo · 07/01/2024 15:07

10K steps is fantastic! I’m lucky if I get 5k done, but I am going to try and up the exercise and start cutting out treats now, in preparation for the 17th so I can hit the ground running.

I’ve joined up for the 17th too! It’s my first time doing it. I have about 2.5 stones to lose too. Started with the walks yesterday to try to get into the habit. I’m hoping I can do them during my lunch breaks as well. Otherwise trying to fit in that hour’s walk is going to be the biggest (well nearly) challenge for me.

mnawesome · 07/01/2024 21:04

I did the last cycle, lost 21lbs and have managed to keep it off over Christmas. I haven’t signed up for this cycle but I’m going to try to follow along myself to lose another 15lb.

I try do my walks before work….at least the mornings are getting brighter this tine around. I think it’s a fantastic programme, and it really keeps you engaged and positive the whole way through.

desperatehousewife2 · 07/01/2024 21:32

That’s brilliant @mnawesome ! Did you have much to lose?
@Astonetogo and @Gettingittogether I’d love to join in with you on this thread over the 10 weeks!
I would be happy to lose 1 stone, 1.5 would be absolutely amazing. I’m really hoping the motivation lasts all the way through. I start diets, lose a few pounds slowly, lose nothing for a while, then think ‘feck it, it’s Friday night, I deserve a treat’ and then it all goes to hell from there and I regain everything I lost and more.

Gettingittogether · 08/01/2024 09:22

@desperatehousewife2 I'm absolutely the same. Although more recently I've been getting to that point by midday.....eek! Haha.

The 10k is largely due to work, my commute in London and the sheer size of my office. I don't get home until 6.30pm. Kids to bed at 8pm. I don't fancy much going for an hour long walk in the dark from 8.30-9.30pm. It's going to have to be lunch.

@mnawesome that sounds brilliant. There does seem to be a lot of success stories coming out of bodyslims. I just hope I can do it - lots of failed diets over the last couple of years purely down to me nothing wrong with the diets.

Thanks for starting the thread @Astonetogo - looks like we can form a little group for the 10 weeks 😊

mnawesome · 08/01/2024 10:11

I had wanted to lose about 2 stone at the start, but really wanted to get into the normal BMI range. I'm just at the edge of normal at the moment, so want to get into the middle.

I have never stuck a diet beyond a few weeks before and I normally hate corporate motivational or self help stuff so I was worried I would be too cyncial for the seminars. But the way the programme is structured, it is very clever at keeping you engaged and positive. That is what shocked my husband so much, how I managed to keep in a great mood (probably better than normal!!!) while losing weight. I also found it helpful to follow them on instagram as they share posts from others doing the programmes which also helped keep me engaged.

Astonetogo · 08/01/2024 17:34

Hi @desperatehousewife2 and @mnawesome So glad there’s a few of us to keep each other motivated! You’ve done so well Mnawesome, congratulations!! I’m the same, hovering in the BMI 25-26 range and hoping to get to a solid 22-23.

Although, I am a bit dejected because I bought a new set of scales today (the fancy kind that measure your fat 🙀) and I am actually a good 8 lb heavier than I thought I was. So, my username should really be Astoneandahalftogo!

Hi all! I've just completed the September course and lost 22lbs which I was thrilled with. I'm going to try and do it alone for the next few wks and see how I go. I also joined an unofficial BodySlims Fb group too which I found to be extremely supportive. The Fb group is called BodySlims (unofficial) support group. Best of luck and most importantly enjoy it!

periwinkle1234 · 09/01/2024 09:12

I have also signed up for the 17th. I have put on a stone this year and really hoping this gets me back on track. Also super motivated hearing all the success stories. I want to loose 1.5 stone fingers crossed.

Astonetogo · 09/01/2024 12:34

Hi @Onynx your weight loss is amazing, huge congratulations! I am so motivated to get going next week and follow your example!!

You and me both @periwinkle1234 ! Most people seem to be losing a really decent amount of weight so I am hopeful we can do it too! 💪

I’m starting next week too!
BMI is 33, so it’s really time to take things in hand.
I’d love to lose 20lbs - well, more really, but I know the long term prospects of crash dieting..!

I’m sure you can do it, quite a few people report losing 20lb+ !

Great to have a few people on this thread. I’ve pored over the first email containing the guide that we got today. I’m still walking each lunchtime although fitting in a walk on a Thursday is going to be challenging so will see how I go.
I’ve joined the unofficial Facebook group and have read lots of the success stories on the BS site. Let’s hope my enthusiasm doesn’t fade over the next couple of months!

periwinkle1234 · 12/01/2024 10:32

Is anyone else worried about being really hungry??

Gettingittogether · 12/01/2024 12:42

Received my login! So having a good look around the site.

@periwinkle1234 I'm not worried about being really hungry. But I am worried about cravings and tiredness mixed with a bit of legitimate hunger. 7pm is a really difficult time for me, I'm tired, I'm hungry for my dinner and I'm never going to 'crave' something healthy. I'm always going to want the easy bad stuff - e.g Indian take-away or spag bol with loads of pasta. When I'm tired all will power goes out the window. So that's my danger time.

Astonetogo · 12/01/2024 17:01

I’ve just opened the e-mail! About to download the app and investigate all the content!
I have made a start with the healthy eating this week so I’m hopeful I can carry on next week, but I am a bit worried about fitting in the walking (more specifically about having the energy and motivation). But, I have paid out good money for this and I REALLY want to both look and feel slimmer, fitter and healthier so I am determined to give this all that I’ve got!!

OP posts:
LittleGlowingOblong · 12/01/2024 20:52

I’m worried about being really hungry, @periwinkle1234
I’m worried about not drinking for 10
weeks 😬.
I’m worried about my own self-sabotaging tendencies.
I’m worried I’m going to be the person who loses 8oz over 10 weeks.

Just trying to put all these thoughts aside!!

Gettingittogether · 13/01/2024 07:25

Last night I went through most of the videos that are already uploaded. The first one v long. The first 20 mins give or take are pretty boring - he goes through housekeeping - talks through broadband buffering, what coaches are for and what the team can't help with. Would be common sense for us but I guess he gets all sorts on the course 😅

It gets good though later! So don't give up on watching it.

desperatehousewife2 · 13/01/2024 08:52

Yes, I felt the exact same about that video @Gettingittogether - the start is common sense stuff but as you say I guess it has to spelled out for some. Thought the rest was good too.

My allowance is 1200 calories. I had suspected that would be my allowance so I’ve been on that for the last week to get into the swing of things. I had to put a stop to the mindset of ‘oh better eat this entire box of Roses, I won’t be able to after the 17th’ that I had fallen into! The Christmas food is pretty much gone now anyway which I’m glad about.

@periwinkle1234 I actually didn’t find the calorie allowance this week too bad but I know there will be days when it really tests me. My body loses very very slowly so like you @LittleGlowingOblong I’m worried about my self sabotaging tendencies when I don’t lose as quickly as I’d like.

One tip I have after the week is that I found a really good selection of protein products in Aldi (I’m in Ireland) and they have a nice Lemon mousse, Strawberry mousse, flavoured quark, other pudding type things all of which are a really decent size and between 130-165 cals depending on what you get. So I’ve been saving the calories to allow myself to have one of those after dinner and have felt very satisfied. The chocolate one is supposed to be really nice but I’m not allowing myself to try it as chocolate is a bit of a trigger for me, it’s all or nothing when it comes to chocolate. And I hate low fat yogurts, they do nothing for me. Anyway, hope that helps someone.

Gettingittogether · 13/01/2024 09:11

@desperatehousewife2 I'm the same with low fat yoghurt - it's like eating air!
My calories allowance is 1400 - I was surprised by that to be honest. I thought it would be 1200 but I'm tall so that might be why. Also I think on Carla's video she said the calorie is an allowance not a goal to hit. So I will aim for 1200 which gives me a bit of wiggle room for any accidental calorie misreporting.
I also recently read 'Ultra-processed people', which on it's own is making me not want to drink fizzy drinks, eat biscuits etc etc so I've been eating more veg, fruit, and doing more home cooking. I haven't been dieting so much as cleaning my diet up - that said we have still had some Christmas goodies left over (cheese!) and I have polished some off but haven't gone mad. I've only had one take-away since Christmas and that for me is an achievement in itself.

DH wants to do it with me but refuses to sign up on his own accord. Anyone else have a partner who really wants to lose weight but always refuses to get their own subscription for diets? I don't know what he expects, weight loss through some sort of marital osmosis or something?!

Astonetogo · 14/01/2024 18:01

Anyone going to take before and after photos? I don’t know if I dare!

OP posts:
bodyslims · 14/01/2024 18:23

Excited but also apprehensive to start ! Will be weighing myself in Tues am to enter into the app and then spending Tues pm reading and watching all the necessary. I'm nervous about walking in the dark as I'll have to do it at 630 most mornings! Batch cooking tomorrow night and off we go! Does he do visualisation stuff on the videos?
