Hi everyone. I just found this thread and I hope you don't mind me joining in. I am doing the current course and I have lost 14lbs since January 17th. I am so delighted with myself. I didn't have a huge amount to lose my start weight was 156 and my initial goal weight was 138lbs but my D2D goal is now at 134lbs. My weight was really getting me down as the scales were creeping up and up and I seemed to be on a yoyo of losing and gaining the same few lbs over and over.
Today I weighed in at 142 so I am getting close to my first goal weight.
I really struggled with the hour walk initially, more due to finding time than anything else but I accepted this was a sh*tty story and now really enjoy that "me" time every day.
I rarely feel hungry after taking on board Gers advice on complex carbs and I am amazed at how I can look at biscuits or sweets and not get cravings.
It has been really goodso far, life changing even, and I am so glad I signed up for it.

Hi everyone, and welcome @Onehorsetown
The second half begins, how’s it going?
I’ve redoubled my motivation - at first the weight was coming off so fast I got complacent (and also just so hungry) and I think I’ve been learning habits that work for me.
Ecperience is teaching me that it seems alcohol really does mess with your fat burning processes, and I can’t spend my allowance on junk.
Does anyone have good hand weights they’d recommend?
I’m 3st 10lbs off my DTD weight, so a long way to go!

LittleGlowingOblong · 28/02/2024 10:46

I ended up buying Gaiam walking weights - only 1lb each hand but I felt a slight difference.

How’s everyone getting on?

champagneblanc · 28/02/2024 11:24

Down 1lb this week, I am under my calories consistently, haven't even had a sniff of a bar of chocolate or a glass of wine. I don't know what will happen when I get back to a somewhat 'normal' calorie intake.

Best of luck to everyone, haven't listened to the seminar yet, interested to see what the next two weeks look like.

Onehorsetown · 28/02/2024 11:28

I reached the 10% milestone today, having lost 10% of my body weight over the past 6 weeks. I am optimistic that I will reach my D2D goal by the end of the programme.

Astonetogo · 28/02/2024 11:57

Hi everyone, I’ve been away on holiday until last week! And now I am back. I did put some of the weight back on during the holiday, as I couldn’t calorie count (I did do the daily walk though) but now I am back to it! I am down 3.6lb since last week, making it 6lb loss overall. My holiday has really slowed my progress, but I’m determined to lose my extra stone by the end of the course, so, I will be giving 100% and doing this new diet for the next fortnight in the hopes of getting there. 6 down, 8 to go…

Hi everyone! I’m down 2 this week which means I’m down just over 10% so I’m thrilled. Still have 20 pounds to go though so not going to get too complacent.
I'm going to do the diet challenge too. I shouldn’t find it too much of a stretch because I haven’t been having rice/pasta/noodles/potato/bread since the start of the programme anyway. I don’t love the sourness of grapefruit but I think I’ll manage ok with that.

I think the thing I’ll find hardest is giving up my nightly treat of something like a Tunnock’s tea cake or protein ball or something along those lines. I’ll just have to keep reminding myself it’s only for 2 weeks.

I’m hoping to keep going myself after the end of the programme to get the rest of the weight off. I’ll see about signing up for April, it depends on how those few weeks after this programme go and whether I can maintain this level of motivation without the support of the programme. I find the weekly seminars really help.

What about everyone else?

periwinkle1234 · 28/02/2024 19:14

Well done everyone. I'm down 3 this week so that's a total of 13. Bring on the One Stone next week, fingers crossed.

Astonetogo · 28/02/2024 19:14

Just reading through the posts I’ve missed, welcome @Onehorsetown and congratulations on your amazing weight loss!! Your start weight and first goal weight are the same as mine, but you are much closer to getting there - I’d say you are definitely on the fast train, massive well done!!👏

Astonetogo · 01/03/2024 11:41

Anyone else LOVING the grapefruit?! I am eating the pink ones, and after a lifetime of thinking ‘I don’t like grapefruit’ am delighted to find it utterly delicious!!

OP posts:
champagneblanc · 01/03/2024 18:43

I decided against the grapefruit when I read all the warnings about it being contraindicated against some medications, but I might try it. I am starving and so tired, feel like I have eaten more than I have done for the past several weeks and still haven't done my walk, trying to motivate myself to get it done now.

Onehorsetown · 01/03/2024 19:00

I have been trying the pink grapefruit too. I sprinkle a little canderel over it, which he said was okay, and heat under the grill for a few minutes. I actually enjoy it too which surprised me as I used to hate grapefruit.

LittleGlowingOblong · 02/03/2024 08:32

So, I only watched the seminar on Thursday… I’d been walking a lot and eating under my ceiling. But I think I just got too hungry and too tired, and had an emotional reaction to being set the cavewoman diet. I binned the whole thing for the day and ate whatever I wanted! (A lot!)
Back on the wagon today… And I did do my walk yesterday.

I think moving the goalposts isn’t for me, I was still settling into positive new healthier habits, this feels like a step too far for me.

Edited

I decided to try it for a week and then make a decision on the following week. It's not too hard as I had, mostly, stuck to the 3 for 2 the previous week. In saying that I am finding the 3 fruit limit difficult, especially as a whole grapefruit counts as 2. This means that I have to choose between my usual midmorning banana, tomato for breakfast or in a salad, and berries. These are all good foods so it is a bit annoying. But I remind myself that today is Saturday. If I stick to it for the weekend then, come Monday, weigh in day is looming. So hopefully it will be worth it.
Forget about the bad days, we all have them, but they can't be undone.
I wouldn't stress out about opting out of the 2 week challenge, it is optional and you will still lose weight by sticking to your original plan.

Astonetogo · 02/03/2024 10:45

I’m following it roughly, but not rigidly. I’ve had a bit more cheese than we’re supposed to, I had porridge this morning and I put milk and some dried fruit in it (which I don’t think we’re meant to). I think it’s about knowing what you can cope with, and what will push you over the edge. I felt hungry and wan this morning and I knew if I didn’t have a satisfying breakfast with some carbs to chase away the trembles, I would crack and throw in the towel.

Thanks both.
Keep on keeping on!

champagneblanc · 02/03/2024 12:03

I did my walk in the end last night, I was so tempted to just not bother, was happy that I did it though.

Weighed myself this morning and, yep, I'm up over a lb since Wednesday weigh in, it's so strange as I really didn't go over my calorie allowance, so I am going to go back to what was working for me.

periwinkle1234 · 02/03/2024 12:20

I'm actually really happy to read some of these comments about the caveman diet. I thought it was just me. I was doing so well, doing everything to the letter and then felt so restricted and ended up eating way over calories yesterday for the first time. It has totally triggered something in me and I'm actually a bit annoyed that it's part of the plan it to be honest. I think it's quite extreme even the post above about not eating a banana etc. I understand he wants this to be the best weightloss program and to get the best results for everybody but is also has to be healthy and sustainable in my opinion. Definitely not doing it anymore and going back to what worked for me.

I know he said it was optional but it's hard when all the Facebook posts are about it and also his videos. So it feels like for the first time that I'm not following it properly.

LittleGlowingOblong · 02/03/2024 12:41

Yes. 36 hours of complete failure for me!

It’s interesting - I now don’t expect to lose any weight this week. Just go to show how hard you have to fight for every pound, after a certain stage!

Also, I didn’t like today’s song - it didn’t uplift me, more the opposite, and tbh got me thinking too much about International current affairs #overthinking!

Heads up ladies! Over this bump in the road and keep going!

If it is of any comfort, I ate the banana 😂

Astonetogo · 03/03/2024 13:28

I had a sneaky weigh-in this morning and have lost a bit more since Wednesday, bringing my loss to 8lb total since the start of the programme, and 13lb since I started cutting back on junk on the 1st January.

So I should be feeling really pleased, but I’m finding it really difficult to believe that the loss is real. I keep thinking that any loss on the scale is due to water or muscle loss, and that the very small difference in what I see or feel in my clothes is just down to not being as bloated.

I suppose my fear is that as soon as I start eating normally the weight will reappear overnight because I never truly lost it in the first place.

Does anyone else have these same thoughts? Can anyone kick me into a more positive mindset, I’m not doing myself any favours by being so negative and must be giving out all the wrong chemicals, but I’m really struggling to believe the positives are real!

OP posts:
champagneblanc · 03/03/2024 14:01

@Astonetogo yes, I do too and as I have been living in leggings, when I did put on some real clothes I didn't feel my clothes that loose on me, however when I compared the photos I took on Jan 17th against the ones I took last week I can see a difference, especially in my stomach and thighs, so I suggest you pull out the photos and scrutinise them, I bet you will see a difference and it will not just be water weight. I have lost around 9lbs since the start, but was hoping for more.

Astonetogo · 03/03/2024 14:33

Thanks @champagneblanc, good to know I’m not alone and thanks for the encouragement. To be honest I didn’t take the pictures last week, I’d been on holiday for just over a fortnight, getting back into the programme was a challenge and I was afraid that if I couldn’t see a change I would just give up. I’m hanging on till the end of the programme for my ‘after’ photo, in the hopes there will be a noticeable difference and it will spur me to keep on going (as I expect to still be a few pounds off my goal).

Astonetogo · 06/03/2024 07:33

Good luck everyone for the weigh in today!
I’m down 3lb exactly, which I’m over the moon about. I didn’t do the new diet exactly right, but I did do the grapefruit most days and cut all sugary treats, bread, potatoes, rice and pasta.
I think I might reintroduce potato this week though, not keen to repeat the experience of this past week if I’m honest, and I’m a bit afraid that if I do I will end up binge-eating Easter eggs on Easter day!
