Hi,

Just got back from holiday and thread was full. Couldn't see a new one 😞 let me know if there is one. Hope everyone is doing well.

That's way too high, I was sick for a month on 7mg and then for a week when I went to 14mg after a few months. I would go back to the prescriber and ask for 3mg and maybe yake every other day till you get used to it. There is no way they should have prescribed at that level. Who was it?

@GingerLiberalFeminist I wonder if your doctor has just looked at equivalent doses without understanding how each drug should be prescribed.

In theory 2.5mg of Mounjaro is equivalent to 14mg Rybelsus but, in practice, Rybelsus should be started at 3mg daily, then uptitrated to 7mg and, only after that, to 14mg.
Also just as another thought, 2.5mg of Mounjaro often does nothing as it is a starter dose, intended to let the body acclimatise to metabolising the medication, and most people only start to see effects as they increase to higher doses so, if this doctor has changed meds because a month of 2.5mg has "done nothing", they are possibly not very aware of best practice with GLP1s

Question for the ladies that came off all medication, how long before the hunger came back and in full force ?

Heading horror stories about people that were even hungrier than before starting the meds and put on twice the amount of weight

Doggymummar · 15/10/2024 11:45

When I came off Ry for a few months prior to restarting again I took about 4 weeks. And yes the hunger was worse as I document on this thread, and I gained ten lb in a month. But it stopped there it didn't just keep piling on. I have read about set points before and I think my body has a 200lb set point that it doesn't like to go below. It's a real effort to get lower.

I have reduced to 14mg RY every 3 days and now 5mg MJ a week. My hunger returned but unable to overeat or eat unhealthy food. I did come off completely for about 6 weeks before going on holiday. I didn't notice too much hunger but I eat when I bored so tend not to over eat on holiday. I think tapering off is necessary.

Hi @RedRum27 I think I was the last one to move to MJ they Ry stopped working for me and I've only lost a stone this year. Only on week 2 of Mounjaro and the 2.5 mg dose doesn't seem to be doing much. Hopefully as the doses increases I will see some losses. Stayed the same weight so far.

@Doggymummar hello everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve been on here. I’m down approx 32lbs in a year on Ryb.Non-scale victories are good. I ran 10km just before Christmas (stopped in between of course but I did it) and feel better generally but still have a bit to go on my journey.

However, similar you PPs, Rybelsus lost efficacy for me and it’s been a year, not dropping the same consistent weight weekly anymore. Weight stabilised at around 200-202lbs, I can’t seem to get below 200lbs consistently or for long enough.

Had a review with my doctor today who listened to my journey, tracked my weight and did say the Ryb can lose efficacy later down the line. Mounjaro and Wegovy although approved are out of stock/not available where I am (not the UK) so he suggested to try 0.5mg Ozempic. He said same ingredient so side effects will hopefully be ok but the efficacy is supposedly stronger. He said no transition period need from the 14mg Ryb so I start tomorrow.

Once a week needle which I am nervous about - it’s tiny though. How did you all find the needle?

Doggymummar · 06/01/2025 08:08

Hi, the needle is absolutely fine. I too panicked about it, but after the first go you will wonder why you were worried. I haven't had any side effects on MJ, bit of constipation and it got me over my 200lb stall. It's still slow going though. I've lost 10lb since September, little gain over Christmas so 193 this morning. Going up to 12,5mg next pen. Good luck. You'll be fine

I agree MJ is the way to go. I went to Mexico for December so stopped taking start of November. I get paranoid about invalidating my travel insurance. I had a little stockpile ready to tackle the weightgain when i got back. Big news....hardly any!! I didn't feel abnormally hungry. Weight gain was 3lbs first month and after a month of great food, a lot of wine and very little exercise only 4lbs. I stated back on MJ and 4lbs gone. I think I went in a bit too high at around 8mg and got a few side effects. Anyway good news seems to be weight gain / hunger seems less when coming off MJ. HNY all and good luck with your losing journeys in 2025

Doggymummar · 06/01/2025 11:55

Gosh well done. Such a little gain on holiday and over Christmas too, I definitely prefer it to throwing up all the time on Ry!

I'm still on rybelsus, month 4 now and I've lost 2 stone. So I am losing, just not as fast as those on MJ. But miles cheaper!

I've got two months left, would be amazing if I lost another stone. I've gone from an 18 to a 12/14. If I could be a comfortable 12 that would be great. Of course I can dream of being an 8/10 but I'm old 😂

Height 5'10"
Age 43
SW: 198lbs
CW: 171lbs
GW: 155lbs

Doggymummar · 06/01/2025 16:24

Well done that's good going. I don't think Ry is cheaper than MJ perhaps it has become cheaper. Either way I bet you feel fantabulous

HNY all! Not been on here forever a while. So I have put a stone on since I was at my lowest. Still on Rybelsus and doing either 7mg or some days tablet and a half. I have not been exercising for months and over Xmas stopped taking the tablets for 2 weeks. Back to it this week and hoping to at least lose 1/2 stone fingers crossed! I’m too worried about sickness to move up to 14mg and hate needles so the others aren’t an option. Glad to hear everyone else is doing well on them though 👍🏻

Doggymummar · 06/01/2025 19:30

Hello @Cjgdjkf glad you are still focused on losing. I lost my way for most of last year so I know how hard it is. It takes guts to start over. Best of luck
