Hi,

Just got back from holiday and thread was full. Couldn't see a new one 😞 let me know if there is one. Hope everyone is doing well.

Ignore the sensationalist title

Rybelsus Day 01 Second Thread
QueenOfHiraeth · 21/05/2024 21:47

@SilkySuky I listened to that and enjoyed it too. I know some people on MN have questioned Johann Hari's truthfulness but I still found it a very interesting listen.

@Funnyhat Don't be too disheartened. Sometimes you can have an odd day in a week when your weight is up due to fluid or whatever and, if you weigh weekly and it happens to be on that day, it's infuriating. That guy at Team RH used to insist on daily weighing and take the average for the week for that reason
Even on MJ it is accepted that 2.5mg is ineffective in most people but is a priming dose (like 3mg Rybelsus) and they will usually need to step it up. I only felt effects around the second week of 7mg Rybelsus so am resigned to waiting a bit longer with this too

Doggymummar · 22/05/2024 08:27

I think my rybelsus has kicked in, at day 5. Poured a glass of wine last night put it to my lips smelled it and had an overwhelming need to vomit. No snacking yesterday and the unmistakable feeling of being unable to pee. No hunger this morning and I was in bed by 8 last night as I was so tired. Phew I was worried it wouldn't work second time around. I like having the physical reminder it's working, and I don't consider it to be side effects, to me it's just how it is. Good to hear others are making progress too.

@SilkySuky you can force the pen hard to get a 5th dose. I used a bottle grip thing and the extra force must have broken the stop mechanism. Managed to inject that extra liquid. So I have just injected 10mg.

SilkySuky · 24/05/2024 08:40

@Londonlady365 I've just done this, not sure if it was a full extra dose but I'm estimating with the last 2.5 I've had about 4 - 4.5 mg in total and the pen is empty. Will see what happens.
@Doggymummar glad to hear it's working for you again, hope your side effects aren't too bad this time.

Londonlady365 · 26/05/2024 09:36

I have lost another 4lbs so 156 to 148lbs in 4 weeks on MJ. Its weird because i don't feel any different. I thought it might be my scales but my jeans from 20 years ago that I keep to remind me of the size I want to be are now loose. Luckily 70s style flares are back in fashion so I might even get to wear them.

Doggymummar · 26/05/2024 12:59

That's fantastic @Londonlady365 you are so close to goal too. I lost 2 lb in the first week but it is no.where near fully working just yet. Ordered 14mg yesterday for next month so that should kick start things better

I'm on week 3 of MJ and not having the great effects others are, luckily no side effects other than feeling cold and that could just be the Northern weather!.
I've been reading up and the official data does say very little appetite suppression and weight loss expected at 2.5 so I am wondering if my Rybelsus was still working initially and has worn off over the last 2 weeks while the MJ has not properly kicked in yet.
I think I might use some of the "bonus dose" to up myself to 3.75 next time and see what goes

Funnyhat · 28/05/2024 15:01

Just an update, so I just completed my second week on 2.5mg of MJ, and I have lost 2lbs which I am very very pleased with.

No side effects, the appetite suppression is mild but much better than rybelsus for me. I don't mind it being mild, because I know that my will power is also responsible for the weightloss so hopefully it's sustainable.

I am noticing that I am super constipated, any tips?

Londonlady365 · 28/05/2024 17:41

@Funnyhat I am not noticing much appetite suppression just off certain foods but am losing weight. I am wondering if its the second ingredient that increases insulin sensitivity that is working for me and not the semiglutide. First 7.5mg injection tomorrow although I did 2x5mg last week with adding the 5th dose.

Funnyhat · 28/05/2024 19:13

@Londonlady365 yes that would make sense! I've actually also noticed that usually I get a couple of hairs on my chin ... completely gone lol

I think I'm going to see how I feel in the 4th week and then I might stick to 2.5mg for an additional month. If I'm losing 4lbs a month and some of the food noise is gone, I would be happy to stick to the 2.5 dose. I just want to be able to maintain this when I eventually come off

Doggymummar · 28/05/2024 20:59

Well I'm going to 14mg next week, I had a month of everyday vomming last time, so this time I have told my partner cos he thought I had stomach cancer last time. Have good weeks one and all. I've lasted till 9pm with no nap today, been having about 3 hours an afternoon recently. Lucky I WFH flexibly or I would be fired!!

Sorry to hear about your recent experiences @Doggymummar but glad to hear you’ve got a plan. Good to hear updates from everybody.

I've plateaued the past weeks. Fluctuating between 208lbs and 210lbs it changes every day.

I had two weeks of no exercise at all and my period combined. I was so tired so this may have contributed. But struggling to get down from 208lbs. Have been back on the exercise this week though so will see and trying to drink less as for some reason Ryb has no impact on alcohol for me.

I’m only on my 2nd month of the 14mg though so worried about plateauing so early into the 14mg.

Londonlady365 · 31/05/2024 07:00

I am definitely feeling appetite suppression on 7.5mg MJ. About the same as the first weeks on 14mg Ry. I have 4 injections to go and 4lbs to lose so will be stopping at goal weight or because its not working.

SilkySuky · 01/06/2024 17:31

NC Fail 😂

DumbledoresWand · 02/06/2024 08:42

Been following this thread for the last 6 weeks or so.
I'm T2 diabetic, with some weight to lose too.
I moved up to 7mg 2 weeks ago, but had 2 episodes of vomiting and eggs burps :( had to phone in sick at work
I go on holiday on Saturday, and have decided to have a break and start back on the 3mg when I get back...
I have lost half a stone, not sure if that's the tablets or the vomiting :) !

Funnyhat · 02/06/2024 11:49

@Londonlady365 well done on being very close to your goal weight.

Can I ask how long it took you to lose the weight? How much weight you lost in total and how much you were losing on an average month. I know it will inspire me to stick to it and not give up !

Londonlady365 · 02/06/2024 12:18

@Funnyhat I started in 13 months ago at 175 lbs. I wanted to get back to 144 lbs pre lockdown/WFH. I lost the majority in the first 2 months on 14mg but then it really slowed. I carried on with periods on full dose/half dose during shortages but only losing a few lbs here and there. Finally at 24lbs lost. I took a 2 month break in December thinking it might kick start my sensitivity to it. I gained a few lbs and went back on full dose but still didn't work. In the end I decided 156 was good enough and maintain there. I was 14lbs off goal but it wasn't shifting. Then MJ users said it was helping so gave it a go. 5mg shifted 8lbs in a month without me noticing and now final month on 7.5mg to lose last 4lbs or not. Then back to maintaining on Ryb.

JaffacakeJanine · 04/06/2024 18:13

Excited to hear about the progress on MJ from others! I've been stalling for a while now at around 148lbs (goal around 120 because I'm short) - so definitely need an upped dosage.

Finally did my first shot today, surprisingly easy and I didn't feel it AT ALL, although a bit scary at first to administer. It did feel like something was happening to my body for about 30 mins after, maybe medication working or it could have been all on my head.

Appetite suppression so far not the best, been a bit snacky, but the real test will be come dinner time, I suppose. I'm more excited about potential passive results!

BangingOn · 20/06/2024 20:52

How is everyone getting on?

I move up to 7.5mg tomorrow and am now 5.5 stones down in total. I’ve dropped 9lbs in the 8 weeks since moving to Mounjaro, which might not sound a lot but I’ve only lost 23lbs in total since Christmas so it’s definitely given me a boost.

Wow! 5.5 stones is amazing! Was that on Rybelsus?
I had only recently started Rybelsus so only got a couple of weeks of appetite suppression before I decided to switch to Mounjaro due to indigestion.
I've now had about 6 weeks of it and have lost about 10lb which I am happy with as I have had a holiday and I am at a point in life where I eat out a lot so I'm sure I'd be gaining otherwise.

BangingOn · 21/06/2024 06:42

Thanks @QueenOfHiraeth. Yes, that was Rybelsus from May ‘23 until 8 weeks ago when Rightangled switched me due to supply.

10lbs in six weeks is really good, is Mounjaro suiting you better than Rybelsus?

QueenOfHiraeth · 21/06/2024 10:38

@BangingOn I'm pleased with the weight loss, although I have a lot to lose, but there's always that voice at the back of my head screaming "MORE! FASTER!" even when I know that's ridiculous and just the old diet culture rearing its head.

I don't know if Rybelsus suited me to be honest. I had a month at 3 which, as you'd expect, did very little then had a month at 7 which did reduce my longing my food and cravings but I was finding the taking it and waiting half an hour a pain in the mornings and was getting some indigestion. That and all the publicity about MJ encouraged me to switch and I do like not having to take it daily. Fingers crossed it continues well for us both

Dinosaurpoo · 21/06/2024 15:30

Glad to hear people are getting on so well
with munjaro.
am
i the only one left on rybelsus?!
I’m still slowly losing. Trying not to get frustrated with the pace! And hoping the slow burn keeps it off longer. I had a week off for a recent holiday and only gained 1lb, which I was really happy about.
I’ve got about 6 weeks worth left. Trying to make the most of it and hopefully get to my goal and not need any more after that.

Cjgdjkf · 21/06/2024 20:20

@Dinosaurpoo nope I’m still on it! I go up 2lbs, down 2lbs lol but as long as I don’t go up to high I’m okay with that (especially as im
socialising more than ever at the moment!) I’ve gone back to 7mg maiming due to cost and worrying I won’t be able to get any more as was going a tablet and a half. Glad everyone else seems to be doing well x
