I was doing slimming world until last night. I was doing it since June and haven't lost a single pound since Aug.

I think it's time for change. I am starting WW on Tuesday. Any body else up for joining me.

I was on a thread where someone linked to a thread that said how many points you can have a day
Mine came to 19 points (am ft6 and 10st9)
but I have no idea what to do next
the thought of eating different food to the rest of the family puts me off too...

posieflump · 28/02/2008 11:56

that should say 5ft 6 and someone linked to a site with the quiz on it

I've done ww before and lost loads with it, but then had a baby and put it all back on again!

I need to lose some weight (about 2 stone) and although I won't be going to meetings I'll certainly do it along with you

Jodyray · 28/02/2008 12:05

I am starting Atkins on Monday. We can compare notes if you like and see how we get along. I am doing this to get the kick start I need to shift the baby weight then after a few months may revert back to WW. SW has never worked for me.
WW is really easy to do when you have a family as you can eat the same as everyone else. Good luck!!

ShortandSweet · 28/02/2008 12:52

Thanks everyone. Well I have about 4 stone to lose. I only lost 1.5st at SW and have put 4lb of that back on because my hearts not in it anymore.

I know WW have an extra option now, it's call core and you don't have to count points. Has anyone done this and did they find it any good?

Hey Jodyray how's the diet going?

OP posts:
collision · 03/03/2008 13:13

I am doing WW and have lost 7lbs in 3 weeks which I am really pleased about.

i do points and not core as you eat as much as you like (til you are full) and I am never full so it didnt work for me!!

You eat the same as everyone else but add lots of veg and drink lots of water and you will be fine.

It is so easy!

Just work out what it is you like to eat.

Example....DH is doing this WW with me. He would rather count 2pts and have olive oil on his salad. I would rather have plain salad and a pack of Skips in the evening which is 2pts too.

I also find that I need to have my head around it and its not really about food but how you are feeling.

mammya · 03/03/2008 13:24

Hi I'll join you, I started WW last week and have already lost 2lbs! Mind you I have about 5 stone to lose so I'm not there yet

I've got the handbook and the points calculator from when I did WW and actually joined before. This time I'm just doing it by myself, i.e. haven't joined again and not going to meetings, so having a bit of support here will be great.

I'm doing full choice (points) at the moment, but may switch to no count later on. It's good to start with counting the points as you get a better idea of portion sizes. Otherwise, like Collision says, there is a risk of just eating and eating.

No count is really easy though, there is a list of foods that you can eat freely, and you get a 21 points weekly allowance that you can use on foods not in the list of free foods, for instance if you want to add oil to your salad or have a glass of wine.

Anyway good luck to you all!

My weigh in day is on Monday so I'll check in here next Monday, but will definitely pop in before that!

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/03/2008 13:26

hiya! i have been doing ww since jan and have lost 1 stone. i still have another stone to lose. i have been doing the core plan and find it really easy! main problem is you have to cook something properly most nights cant have ready meals like you can on the points plan. you are allowed so much stuff though its really easy.

ShortandSweet · 03/03/2008 13:58

Well done on all of your losses. I am going without any books at the moment because I can't start my class until the 12th. But I am doing my best to be good but it's so hard to break a bad habit.

I have had a salad today which I am really proud of because I have a canteen next to me thats full of lovely food.

I love mumsnet, everyone is so friendly.

hiya, i joined weight watchers with my dad 4 weeks ago and have lost 10 pounds. i also joined the gym and am having a really good time there. i honestly do feel better and more motivated than before.

i also have another 4 and half stone to loose. i have never lost that much before, but hoping to this time round

DiscoDizzy · 03/03/2008 20:50

Hi, I was on the thread with posieflump last week I bought the points books off someone on here and started last Thursday. I'm really quite impressed with the points system and I've really thought about the food i'm eating and the quantity. I'm not going to weigh ins but will weigh myself at home. My weigh in day is Thursday. Do we post how much we've lost or not each weigh in day? or something else?

lizandlulu · 03/03/2008 20:54

i dont mind, my weigh in day is tuesday.

smartiejake · 04/03/2008 07:34

Hi can I join you? Can't actually get to a ww meeting as they are all in the evenings round here and dh can't get back in time.

Have done it lots of times before but lose about 10lbs then slip back into my old ways.

Am trying to look at it from a health point of view so to get to a BMI of 25 I need to lose just over 2 stone but would ideally like to lose 3 stone to be back to the weight I was when I got married (nearly 20 years ago!)

I am trying to stick to 18 points a day for the first week (just can't do this no count thing- prefer to count points) but then move to about 21.
Have a dog so lots of brisk walk and also like swimming.

Spent a while yesterday looking at my ww cookbooks and have made a list for the supermarket.

Going to weigh in on Tuesdays.

lizandlulu · 04/03/2008 09:50

hiya, i get weighed tonight and im not feeling very confident about it.
i can think of nothing that i have eaten that would stop me loosing weight, but i dont feel like i have lost any.

smartiejake · 04/03/2008 09:53

It's 9.50. I had a banana and a yogurt for breakfast at 8am. Went for a brisk half an hour walk with the dog and now I'm STARVING.

lizandlulu · 04/03/2008 10:05

i have 50g of porridge made with milk, sugar and a table spoon of golden syrup!! it is 5 points which is probably too many for 18 points a day, but i am having 22 a day and do a manual job so need a good breckie!

why dont you have a bowl of cereal? would fill you up more than friut and yoghurt

ShortandSweet · 04/03/2008 10:13

I had some cherrios today which is 1.5 points. Don't know how much milk is.

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 04/03/2008 10:27

to be honest i dont count milk, i have that little.
maybe i should but i wont untill it gets harder to loose weight!

ShortandSweet · 04/03/2008 11:11

I will weigh myself on Weds, don't think I will have lost anything by tomorrow. Good luck everyone, hopefully there will be less of us by next week.

OP posts:
smartiejake · 04/03/2008 11:30

Nope cereal doesn't fill me up either and I loathe porridge. There is not much which will fill me up which is why I give up so easily- I get SOOOO hungry.

Do you all count your exercise points and then allow yourself more to eat?
