Just saw this thread, just what I need - started the Idiot-Proof Diet (India Knight) yesterday. Have got 4 stones to lose by holiday in June!!! Stuck to diet and no alcohol yesterday, had massive caffeine-withdrawal headache all afternoon/evening but feeling MUCH better this morning.

Twiglett · 26/02/2008 11:19

look the way I figured it it's only 129 calories (OK 3g is sat fats) but still

had melon, minestrone soup, porridge (with water and sweetener), trout and veg, apples

am I banned? I am so crap at this

Sheherazadethegoat · 26/02/2008 11:23

twig, sounds good. i have no opinion on mini packs of cheddars as i am not entirely sure what they are. i think if you find a routine that suits i.e. you are not hungry and are managing to lose alittle weight each week, stick to it and if that includes the occassional cheese based snack so be it.

i did pretty well yesterday but have to go out for lunch today so will have do penance tomorrow.

was going to go for a run but it is literally blowing a gale here.

hi can i join in?

yesterday i weighed myself and i am 12 stone 5lb. i want to shift a few pounds as i have got to be a bridesmaid 2 weeks on saturday and i just need to know my dress won't be mega tight cos i have out on a couple of lb since i tried it on and it was bordering on tight then. As long as I can shift 5lb i will be happy!

my biggest downfall is snacking so my main aim is to cut that out.

yesterday i had museli for breakfast, light chilli and plain bolied rice for lunch (we went out for dinner) and spaghetti bolognese for tea (just one small piece of garlic bread instead of at least half a baguette like usual!) I was very hungry about 9pm so i had a small fruit smoothie. excersize wise, i brisk walked to school and back twice, and took the dog for a walk for 45 minutes.

today so far i have had specialK for breakfast and a cup of tea. not snacked on anything yet, but i feel hungry and tired. I have brisk walked to school and back and had to pop up the town for a few bits and to take dd to clinic to collect her bookstart pack. Just got back a few minutes ago. I need to tidy up the house and wash my hair and have a bath before I go and fetch the kids from school, then long walk to IL house so they can look after the kids while I go to parents evening then long walk back. will take the dog for a walk as well this evening when i get back. So a busy day ahead really with only time for walking to and from places as excersize. i dont know what to have for tea. got a real craving for something 'yummy' but i dont know what to have.

tea will be grilled chicken, salad and a small jacket potato.

Buda · 26/02/2008 11:45

Twig - ok then - if you did look at calorie content and made an informed decision! They are high in salt too though and will make you retain fluid. (Says the perfect one!!!!!

AAngelW - if you are hungry - EAT!!!!! The quickest way to fall off the diet big time is to let yourself get too hungry when you will eat any crap in front of you. Eat something sensible.

AnAngelWithin · 26/02/2008 12:36

i am just heating up some lamb and root vegetable soup. probably too much fat in it at 7.8g, but tea wont have that much fat in it as i dont put cheese on the potato and i grill the chicken and dont have salad dressing.

bellabelly · 26/02/2008 12:42

AnAngelWithin - you are doing soooo much walking today, that is ace! Do you use a pedometer? I like looking at mine to see how many steps I've done and how many calories I've burnt off. Do you normally walk that much in a day? If not, BET you'll lose your 5lbs easily.

AnAngelWithin · 26/02/2008 13:08

no i dont use a pedometer. never thought about it really. i usually walk everywhere cos i don't drive. dd has just fallen asleep, so going to tidy up as fast as i can in a minute when i have finished posting!!

soup was ok. not terribly nice but will keep the wolves away! i was naughty and had one of those part baked petit pains with it. but no butter

right, off to put some music on. might have a bop around while im tidying up then going to go have a bath providing dd stays asleep!!

have a good day all!

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 26/02/2008 13:18

Hello muffin toppers! Glad to see there are people around today Did nobody like my recipe ?! Doing ok this morning, I went shopping this morning and resisted the temptation to buy a snack while I was out. Had Shreddies and skimmed milk for breakfast, small jacket potato, slice of turkey and loads of veg for lunch (shouldn't have had the potato but I was sooooooooooo hungry and shaky I hadn't got time to make a better lunch!

Anybody got any good snack or lunch suggestions, they are the things I struggle with.

Buda · 26/02/2008 13:43

Hi Dances. I try to have soup for lunch. Make a big pot of it at weekend or on Monday and eat it till is it gone. Soup and a sandwich is a good lunch. Your lunch sounded OK though.

piratecat · 26/02/2008 13:52

hi all,

Feeling 'lighter' somehow today, as been watching what I eat since sat.

I have cut out sugar in coffee. I don't really drink coffee at home, but its a postive thing to do.

I think thats going to be the key thing. Positive, small changes.

Havent eaten one bisc, cake, choc since sat. I think thats what i mean by feeling lighter, less bloated.

Porridge for breakfast with chopped apricots.

One slice german rye bread topped with egg/rocket and some coleslaw for lunch.

things I like, but not as big a portion as I would normally eat. If i can have the 'tastes' i like then I am determined to keep at this.

gonna drink more water too.

piratecat · 26/02/2008 13:56

yes grabbing some chopped veg is so not my idea of a fulfilling 'snack' danceswith.

I am eating that German ryebread, you can get it in packs of 6 slices or so. If you like the taste, tho, its quite strong, but its very filling. Yet nice I should think with a slice of ham, mustard???

I am a veggie, but love fake ham on rye bread with English mustard and lots of salad.

Its substantial, and I really think that good strong tastes, herbs, garlic, help me.

knat · 26/02/2008 14:56

hi i've been trying to lose weight for ever and am now trying v v hard. Idealy I would like to lose 3 stone - in 2 weeks I have a lost a stone. Any snacks are only when i'mhungry and they are fruit or alpen cereal bars (60 cals) or carrot sticks!!! For my main meal i have pretty much what everyone else is having but i serve it on a side plate. Done a little exercise - walking - last week but not able to do much at moment as dd has measles. I've been having cereal with skimmed milk for breakfast, soup for lunch with a couple of oatcakes - so really cutting out a lot of bread which is my real weakness and does make a difference - my stomach is nowhere near as bloated. Any further tips would be great and also how to fit in exercise and whats the best. Thanks

Buda · 26/02/2008 15:01

Hi knat - sounds like you are doing really well.

Drink loads of water.

Walking is great exercise. Some people like exercise DVDs - the Davina McCall one is supposed to be good.

YeahBut · 26/02/2008 15:05

Doing OK so far today. My big thing is portion size. I always put too much on my plate and I always finish it, even if I'm feeling full. Always get the evening munchies too!

dosydot · 26/02/2008 15:13

I have vowed to cut portion sizes as well Yeahbut. I plan on doing this by buying a smaller dinner plate. Ours are huge and I always fill it up and clear the plate as I can't stand waste.

Have walked about 3 miles pushing buggy today whilst taking children to various activites also have an aerobics clss tonight that I started going to with my sister after xmas

I think I can therefoer justify another small glass of vino tonight

beansprout · 26/02/2008 15:15

Ok, I finally have scales!!!

Can I officially join in now?

I am going to:

  • walk a lot more, (with ds2 strapped to me )
  • only snack on fruit
  • not crash diet as I always fail at that
  • cut out things I just don't need, e.g. that bit of cheese when I have soup or adding butter to things that don't need it. That might sound a bit vague, but I know what I mean!
  • I don't drink, so, um, will carry on doing that!!
dosydot · 26/02/2008 15:23

Of course beansprout , are you going to declare?

I have made soup, its a first, and its bloody lovely, even the dc's are eating it

Am amazed

beansprout · 26/02/2008 17:30

What do I need to declare? My weight?

dosydot · 26/02/2008 18:07

No only if you want too, a lot of us have but generally we are just saying how we plan to do it - helps with support and are declaring how much lost each week

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 26/02/2008 18:28

She has said - maybe it should be dozy dot

keepcalmandcarryon · 26/02/2008 21:13

so today have had

toast with scraping peanut butter
pasta in tomato sauce (half usual portion size and light dusting of parmesan rather than usual quarter of a pound of cheddar)
SMALL banana muffin made with DD
pork and ginger stirfry with loads of carrot and beansprouts and rice
fruit for snacks
ONE after eight from box brought home by DH - have now left the room so as not to fall head first into box and inhale contents like a truffle pig

quite a good day, and have had fun racing around outside with DC's in the spring sunshine too

agree pirate cat, like strong tastes - chilli is a good one.

All those who posted they made soup - that's great, well done! Have been meaning to make some for days, useful to have in freezer as well.

Dances: I like oatcakes/crispbread spread with light philedelphia and with some sweet chilli sauce sprinkled on top..

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 26/02/2008 21:33
