Well sucummbed to wine! But it was much less than normal - one white wine soda and then one glass of red. Dinner was chilli con carne and rice.

Off to bed now as shattered.

Keep mumsnetting mmj its impossible to eat while typing

Had a much smaller portion of my low fat dinner than normal , so have allowed myself half a glass of wine instead of the usual 2-3 glasses.
pretty good for 1st day only slipped up once ( with wine)

Niecie · 25/02/2008 20:37

Ladela - thanks for the link to the pedometer. Seems like it will be more accurate than the one I have.

Horribly unfit at the moment but I plan to do exercise videos soon - any recommendations?

MMJ - tiny cheat I know but I have, in the past, stock up with boiled sweets and when I have the urge to eat something, as you have just said, I allow myself one. They are only 35 calories. It works - takes away the munchies for a while.

Problem is I gave up sweets for Lent so I can't follow my own advice.

My worst time is between 4pm and tea time...I find it so hard not to munch on dc's tea or just to pig out on biscuits. Ok, so here's a good recipe for you all tomorrow if you're lacking inspiration...

Karahi Chicken (this is just for one person so times it by however many)

3 spring onions
1 clove of garlic
3 tomatoes
1 tblsp fresh coriander
1 tblsp fresh mint
90g cooked chicken
1/2 tsp dried crushed red chillies
1 tsp fresh ginger, shredded

Spray non-stick pan with spray oil and gently cook garlic and onions for a few mins until soft. Add the chicken and cook for a couple of mins to heat through. Add the ginger and chillies and cook for another min before adding the tomatoes and herbs. Cook for a few mintes until the tomatoes have softened.

I tend to serve this with potato wedges made by chopping up a smallish jacket potato spraying it with olive oil spray and cooking at gas 8 for 25 - 35 mins and a yoghurt dip (total 0% fat natural yoghurt) with chopped coriander and mint.

Hope this inspires someone

nice to read all the messages on here today! agree about 4pm onwards, its so easy to pick, particularly chunks of cheese from the fridge - but didn't today . Roll on breakfast...

dosydot · 26/02/2008 08:43

Morning all.
We;; this morning has got off to a good start and I am feeling more determined and optomistic today.
Meal plan for today
Muesli and banana
poached egg on toast
Bacon avocado and potato salad

JingleyJen · 26/02/2008 09:20

Morning all,
Had museli with semi skimmed milk and a cuppa tea for breakfast.
Have started to tackle the ironing mountain that built up over the weekend. hopefully that will burn some calories.
not walking to get DS1 from nursery school today because have to drive to Sainsbury's so will make sure we have bought really healthy options.

Buda · 26/02/2008 09:22

Am on third cuppa - and am having toast. It is Irish brown bread though - very heavy and filling. One slice with a scraping of butter and one with a scrapping of marmalade.

Lunch will be soup.

Dinner will be something with left over roast lamb - any suggestions gratefully received.

Hope everyone is planning on drinking lots and lots of water. Green tea also good for speeding up metabolism.

JingleyJen · 26/02/2008 09:28

Oh Buda - thanks for that better go and drink some water.

For the first time in weeks, I managed not to have a pudding last night after dinner! I had an Options hot chocolate, that hit the sweet spot nicely.Breakfast was a cereal bar,and a litre of water and now having a mug of soup.

Mmmm Ryvita's I adore them, specially the new ones with the pumpkin seeds, really filling

Frozen grapes are good if you want the feeling of having sweets. Am not a huge pudding person - just huge! Am more into wine and cheese.

My after dinner treat was the glass of red wine. Then DS was hungry and I was making him a sandwich and had a slice of cheese .

Have just washed the huge bunches of grapes I bought yesterday ready to nibble on all day. Stuck at home again with DS.

You are right tmmj - protein makes you feel fuller longer too. It is one of the reasons Atkins works so well.

What am I up to? Well still in PJs - DS off school AGAIN - conjunctivitis this time. Wanted to go to Ikea but DS not keen. Wanted to go to gym but can't do that. Could do an exercise video but DS would die laughing. May try my cross trainer.

Suppose I could take DS out for a walk.

Other than that am just sitting on my large butt MN-ing!

beansprout · 26/02/2008 10:35

Rats! Actually went out and bought some scales and when I got home... they didn't work!! Need to go back and change them. I think something is trying to tell me not to weight myself but I'm not going to take any notice!! Will report back later!!

Twiglett · 26/02/2008 10:58

Am I allowed to count the 3lbs that I appear to have lost between what I thought I weighed and what I actually weighed this morning? no? you sure?

yesterday everything was healthy apart from the small piece of emmental (seriously it was cheese .. who could resist?) and the packet of cheddars .. is that ok? (rest was all porridge, healthy soup and fruit)

Buda · 26/02/2008 11:05

Well Twiglett I would let you count that 3lb as I damn well would!

But as you have had cheddars - no. Not good.

sagacious · 26/02/2008 11:13

Sidles in..Is it too late to join ?
I'm 5ft 3 and 12 stone (have put on 2 stone in just under a year and nothing bloody fits me) I want to fit back in my size 12's by my August holiday (its not too much to ask is it ?)

I will do this by:

Cutting down on the booze (I need a glass of wine on occasion.. that'll be my treat)
Cut out the crap food
More fruit and veg
Walking (for exercise)
