Porridge is low GI Twig. Good home-made low fat whole grain is pretty much low GI.

Brown rice, wholewheat pasta, potatoes baked in jackets, heavy rye and wholemeal breads. Lots of beans and pulses.

So am back,
plan for me.
Current weight 12st 6lb 44% FAT
not tall 5ft7
aiming to be 12st or under by DS1's birthday in 7 weeks time.

Started by walking to school to get DS1 and back 2 miles total
have carrot and butterbean soup for lunch will limit bread and butter to one slice.

have drunk 1 pint of water so far today will drink another 2 before I go to bed tonight.

Cottage pie for dinner, I make it with lots of carrots and peas and lean mince will make up mash with milk instead of butter.

Thanks for new thread, I like being a muffin top muncher

I'm in - 11st 2 this morning, want to get to 10st 4 by 2 June, when I am going on a wine club trip to Italy.

I'm using recipes from the F2 books which I've used before and found really good, tasty, the sort of food I know I should be eating and doesn't take too long to make.

I'm in too! Ive been arsing about with the same 3lbs since new year, so really need to shift the muffin top before summer.

Im 5ft 1" and weighed 10st 13lbs this morning.
Initial aim is to reach 9st 13bs.

I've bought the new Davina exercise DVD, and been doing it daily for 2 weeks, and already feeling much firmer,so when the muffins top has finally gone, I should have a six pack!
I'm roughly sticking to weightwatchers points, and avoiding bread and pasta.

I'm very similar to Wisp (weight and height!)

My plan is to:

Cut down on processed sugar and eat more fruit instead

Cut down on carbs

Drink alot more water

Start exercising (this is last on my list because it's my real weakness...I hate it)

Does anyone know if brown rice and wholewheat pasta are less 'carb' than normal pasta and rice?

JingleyJen · 25/02/2008 13:59

Dances they are certainly higher GI value

MMJ - lunch sounds good. I had left over mushroom and fennel casserole with baby sweetcorn . I am now FIGHTING the urge to have something sweet...grrrr.

Oh and now I will stop talking to myself as I am the last THREE posts

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 25/02/2008 14:26

Why selfish Annie? Taking 30 mins to make yourself a healthier and more active mum for your children is NOT selfish.

JingleyJen · 25/02/2008 14:27

Dances the main point of it is that if you are going to eat carbs then you should try to eat slow burn carbs that keep you fuller for longer rather than refined processed carbs which your body burns quickly and leaves you empty and wanting more within a short period of time.

HTH

keepcalmandcarryon · 25/02/2008 14:28

Dances - I'm in too

Niecie · 25/02/2008 14:29

Can I join in too. Need to lose loads but would be happy with a stone by the first May bank holiday - low fat, healthy eating in-laws coming to stay and am aware that they have stopped asking me to help DH to lose weight because I am obviously not doing a very good job in staying slim myself!

Another stone by holidays in August would be good too.

Anybody know a good pedometer? Plan to walk more but my pedometer is rubbish. The other day I put it on, walked two steps, leant forward to pick something up and it had already registered 14 steps.

Surely some have to be more reliable?
