this book is good for an insight into binging. i particularily liked his description of the 'click' moment were you know you should not eat 10 slices of toast but before you know it you have done it.

mmj, put the chocolates behind you. i drink hotchocolate made with skimmed milk which is pretty good for hiting the chocolate spot.

I do the Hot Choc thing too, and Green and Blacks too, not that Options muck!

AnAngelWithin · 28/02/2008 10:34

morning all.

i am really struggling this morning. feel like i just want to eat junk. i have had an awful nights sleep and am worrying to death about my nan being ill. BUT i have GOT to get in my bridesmaid dress in 2 weeks!! I had muesli for breakfast and a fruit smoothie. I am not hungry at the moment which is somthing i guess. I am usually hungry and snacking by now. but ive got the 'munchies' for something yummy if that makes sense.

i really struggle with my fluid intake. I have never been one for drinking load. I bought some fruit squash to try and encourage my drinking but its not working!! i have to wee too much, and i have a bad problem with having to get up to go in the middle of the night if i drink too much in the evening.

keepcalmandcarryon · 28/02/2008 12:15

AAW - sounds like you're having a tough time, poor you.

Its a cliche I know, but can you do something naughty but nice that isn't eating if you feel like you need a treat? - buying magazine and sitting down in front of the washing up to read it? Can you cope with having a small, controlled treat, as beansprout says (I find this very difficult actually: definitely have an all-or-nothing attitude. Moderation- what's that?)

Or put yourself somewhere you can't eat (bath? swimming pool? sauna?)

Hope your grandmother gets better soon.

sagacious · 28/02/2008 13:50

I am an all or nothing girl too
ATM I'm being saintly (green tea fruit and veg) but give me a biscuit and i'll demolish the lot

I have to be ultra ultra strict otherwise I'm sat on the sofa with a bottle of pinot grigio and a family size pizza

Buda · 28/02/2008 14:42

Well.

I had McDonalds again today.

But.

I had a grilled chicken sandwich thingie and a salad. I was out shopping and left Ikea before I succumbed to meatballs and by the time I got to Tesco I was starving. There is a food court thing consisting of McDonalds, KFC, a Chinese thing that looks horrible, ditto a Greek stand and a pizza/pasta stand and you have never seen such stodgy looking pastas. So I figured the MacDonalds was the least of all the evils!

I then met a friend in Tesco and we had coffee after our shopping. Got home starving again and have just had ryvitas and tzatiki.

The only good thing I can say about this week is that I haven't drunk as much wine as usual and when I have fallen off the wagon I haven't used it as an excuse to stay on the ground! So I think mentally I am not doing to badly as I have been all or nothing - usually started Monday morning on 'all' and ended it on nothing and stayed that way!

Twiglett · 28/02/2008 14:45

Is it the change in my diet that is creating the ('scuse the detail) really painful cramps and 'gastric' evacuation?

honestly didn't think my diet was so bad

I'm now reverting to a kind of low fat, healthy homecooked, no breakfast, lots of soup but mildly counting WW points

keepcalmandcarryon · 28/02/2008 14:45

at sagacious on the sofa!

AnAngelWithin · 28/02/2008 14:49

thank you keepcalm. tbh i'm in pieces at the moment cos ive just had some bad news about her. finding it hard to even think about eating now!

Buda · 28/02/2008 16:21

Oh AAW - I hope she is OK.

beansprout · 28/02/2008 17:52

AAW - are you ok?

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 28/02/2008 19:04

Blimey it's been a crappy day all round I think. Sorry everyone is finding it so tough. The important thing is that if we slip up (like me yesterday) we don't give up all together but just start afresh the next day.

MMJ - TBH I don't think I could have stopped at 5 chocs Is your dh a bit of a diet saboteur by any chance. My mum (who struggles with her weight too) is a world class one. It's blardy annoying.

Hope everyone has better days tomorrow. I have healthy stew thing bubbling in the slow cooker but it looks like something they would serve up in a Victorian Orphanage so not really looking forward to it

keepcalmandcarryon · 28/02/2008 19:41

AAW - very sorry to hear that.

AnAngelWithin · 28/02/2008 19:51

sorry i had to go and see to the kids. ive still nit had tea yet. roast lamb dinner. not very hungry though. thanks for asking all of you. they think my nan might have internal bleeding and/or leukaemia and im not dealing with it very well as i am so so so close to her.

aiming to go for a long walk tomorrow weather permitting. if not then i might get on my stepper while dd has her nap in the afternoon.

dosydot · 28/02/2008 19:59

AAW sorry to hear your Nan is so poorly.

I have had a fair day today not particularly low fat meal(chiken mash and veg) but have not snacked .

yesterday evening was abysmal drank far far too much wine with a friend

Tomorrow my new diet in mind tesco shop arrives so the weekend should be better.

Buda · 29/02/2008 07:10

Morning all!

Another day another beginning! We CAN do this.

We will all have blips. We just need to remember that they are just blips. If we are good 80% of the time then 20% of blips will be OK. In fact we should all factor in treats - we can't cut out all of our favourites - be it wine or chocolate or cheese or whatever. I did WW a few years ago and used to factor in a glass of wine and some chocolate every day - kept me sane.

I didn't bother with dinner last night as DH was out and I was tired so I just had bread and cheese - just one slice of cheese from a packet of pre-sliced cheddar and then another slice of bread with honey. No alcohol.

I do know I am not drinking enough water though so that is my challenge for today and the weekend.

Having roast chicken, salad and potatoes tonight. Soup for lunch.

WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 29/02/2008 07:48

YAY! FAB post Buda! I agree blips are blips, that's all. I had a good day yesterday and I'm going to try and be good today as we are out tomorrow for a meal at a friends so I want to just be able to enjoy it and not be stressing about the calories etc.
We're also at different friends on Sunday so another meal that I'm not preparing (and she is a great cook!) so I'll just see how it goes.

Has anyone got any good soup recipes, they are such a great thing to have when you're trying to lose weight but I get so BORED of just veg or tomato soup.

Ok gotta run, children fractious because they need feeding

You don't want to be fat forever because your 'forever' will be too short. You deserve more. We all do.

I think we need to not think of it as a diet and just eat as healthily as we can, drink loads of water and get more active. It took a long time for you and I to gain that 6 stone we want to lose. It will take a long time for it to shift too.

keepcalmandcarryon · 29/02/2008 09:39

thanks for wise words Buda, I'm getting bored of being 'good' and needed that to (hopefully) not fall off the wagon today. DH has been away for a couple of days and I always find it easier to eat healthily when he's not around - and he's back now!

TMMJ I was re-reading my teenage diaries the other day (generalised for how self-obsessed I was) but also got very sad at how everything was about food and what size I was. I really don't want that for my DD and am trying to work myself out of that mind set, to show her that it can be done (my mother is still very much in that place, BTW, and keeps making disapproving comments that I am now a SIZE 14. FFS, how sad is that?)

Buda I have a great tomato and lentil soup recipe, or a pumpkin, lentil and chilli one - let me know if you'd like either and I can post.

Keep going today everyone...

AnAngelWithin · 29/02/2008 09:45

morning all.

special k for breakfast. got to tidy the house so not much time for excersize but i will take the dog for a walk later, and walk to fetch the kids from school as well. not sure what to have for lunch. have got some soup in the cupboard but not looked at the fat content on it yet so i dont know if i will have that or not.

just making my shopping list for the weekly shop now. got to go tonight so that will be more walking around the supermarket if that counts!! lol

dd nicked half of my grapes yesterday. i went upstairs and came down and there she was stood on a chair at the kitchen worktop stuffing them in! she looked like a hamster lol

tmj and everyone else feeling disheartened, please remember that you are beautiful on the inside even though you dont feel it on the outside. You are all lovely and deserve to be happy. We can do this together.

good luck for today ladies.

Buda · 29/02/2008 10:10

KCACO -yes please to the soup recipes. I love anything with lentils!

AAW - hope you are feeling better today and that you get good news about your Nan.

Niecie · 29/02/2008 11:05

Hi everybody,

Haven't been on here for a few days. I am dithering about how I am going to do this and as a result getting nowhere at all.

Has anybody tried the Paul McKenna approach and had some success? It appeals to me as it doesn't involve any special diet but does it work? It is either that or a GI approach. I do have the India and Nerys book but it seems a bit extreme to me and I am not sure I can survive without carbs.

Just as a matter of interest India and Nerys say don't tell people in rl you are dieting as they can sabotage you and it puts the pressure on. Is anybody else keeping their attempts a secret from people they know in rl?

piratecat · 29/02/2008 12:00

hi, hello

Had porridge oats for brekkie with chopped apricots.

Stuffed 6 mini eggs in to my gob last night!!! Last of the pack!

Have to say it they tasted different somehow afternot having any treast since last sat. Almost too fatty/milky.

( thats what I am trying to remember about it anyhow!!)

Iam weighing 2morro as I started this last sat, just to see if any change at all.

bellabelly · 29/02/2008 13:09

Day 5 here on the India Knight diet and I have to say I am bloody loving it. Day One was a nightmare due to horrible headache from caffeine withdrawal but that was only the first day. Felt great this morning, although a bit annoyed that I caved in and had a shot of vodka last night (first day of my period and I felt a bit like I "needed" a treat).

Had bacon and eggs for breakfast and about to eat my shepherds pie (made with cauliflower topping, not potato) for lunch.

And the best thing is I'm 4lbs down so far! (You're not supposed to weigh yourself more than once a week but I am struggling with that.) Sorry if I'm sounding too pleased with myself but honestly, I really recommend this way of losing weight! Just hope it keeps on working.
