💪 5 week Intermittent Fasting challenge 💪

OK, my first attempt at a thread failed through my own fault, let's try again:

Limited duration because longer threads usually taper off. Ending the week beginning 24th of July, final weigh in/measurement Sunday the 30th (additional to the Thursday).

Weigh in or waist measurement Monday and Thursday. (I'm using waist measurement as I don't like weighing myself).

Using a recognised intermittent fasting schedule (e.g. 16/8, 5:2).

Optional exercise where possible, logged in the thread.

Starting tomorrow.

Is anyone up for slimming down in time for August?😀

Shall we just carry on posting on this thread? X

HappyScales · 27/07/2023 17:27

Hi all, I posted under a different name before, but am back with my results 😊

Height: 5ft 4
Weight in April was 10 st 12 (69kg)
Weight today is 9 st 7! (60kg)

Feeling so happy, much more comfortable in my clothes and for our holiday next week! 💃🏻

HappyScales · 27/07/2023 17:30

My eating window is 12.30/1pm - 6pm.

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 27/07/2023 17:54

@violetcuriosity yep happy with that! Maybe we can go to weight in 1 and then go back up again?!

Bumblebeebum23 · 27/07/2023 19:03

Yes, happy to continue on this thread 😊

Peae · 27/07/2023 19:06

Would regulars consider another thread with another short period of commitment? It seems to have worked so well and I’d like to unlurk and join in.

Bumblebeebum23 · 27/07/2023 19:30

I'm happy either way ☺️

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 27/07/2023 22:20

Wow that is literally amazing! So over 4 months you've lost 9kg? That's defo motivation! Well done!

I'm happy either way but worried not everyone will be able to find it??

Good idea 👍🏻 I'm on holiday week 5th~12th so will miss the first two weigh ins and then probably start at my starting weight again 🤣🤣🤣

In other news I'm down another lb, which is 35lbs in total and 9lbs since I've started fasting on the 22nd June 🙌🏻

HarpQuartet · 28/07/2023 08:10

I'd like to carry on too please, counting up or counting down, but I liked there being a "finish line", even if it turns out to be one of many mini-goals. Thank you for the suggestion @violetcuriosity and @waistchallenge for setting us going.

Yes! It appears so! ☺️
I had always been slim (size 8/10) so when I was weighed at the doctors in April and told I was a bit overweight I had to do something about it! Most of my clothes had become tight and uncomfortable and now everything fits and some things are baggy!
I don't feel like it's been difficult either - just not eating before 12.30ish and not after 6. When I'm at work I have been having a yogurt / oats / raspberry thing which was filling and low fat. But generally eat normally in the afternoon and have been known to eat a couple of donuts for pudding too 🙈😆*

Epli · 29/07/2023 09:56

Sorry for lack of updates, I was on holidays with no scale to check my weight:

Check-in 9:

Height: 5'1''/156 cm
Starting weight: 60.7kg
29/07: 58.6 kg
Total loss: 2.1kg

Target: 55 kg (although 57kg at the end of this challenge)

16:8

Peae · 29/07/2023 14:25

I think optional twice weekly weigh-ins are a good idea because people can opt to do both or just the one that suits them. (This appears to be a preference of whether to weigh before or after the weekend!).

I also like countdown nature, but would it best to use n-10, n-9, n-8 etc rather than counting up 10, 9, 8… which is a bit unintuitive?

Peae · 29/07/2023 14:31

I can see that my proposals are potentially problematic 😁

I may try a thread of my own with a five week countdown to the start of term (or five-week summer accountability if that’s preferred).

violetcuriosity · 31/07/2023 08:07

I know we said we weren't going to use this as the last weigh in but it I'm just checking in to have some accountability 😂.

Normal 2lb weekend gain for me.

Starting weight- 12st 12lbs
Todays weight- 12st 8lbs

Aim for Thursday- 12st 5lbs 🤞🏻

Has anyone got any tips?!

Bumblebeebum23 · 31/07/2023 08:39

Well done, everyone 👏

1lb off for me this week and really pleased with my progress. Still a long way to go but it has been great to do it step by step with you all 😊

Original start Weight (16th June): 15st 9lbs
Thread start weight: 15st 5lbs

Current weight: 14st 9lbs

Loss so far: 13lbs
Loss since thread start: 10lbs

HarpQuartet · 31/07/2023 13:32

@violetcuriosity also an increase for me over the weekend, gah! Really hoping to be close to my goal come Thursday

timmothysmith01 · 31/07/2023 15:22

Intermittent fasting is so helpful for losing weight, I'll begin it myself on Thursday.

Epli · 31/07/2023 16:38

Check-in 10:

Height: 5'1''/156 cm
Starting weight: 60.7kg
29/07: 58.6 kg
31/07: 59.6 kg
Total loss: 1.1kg

I gained 1kg but my period is coming and it should come down in 2-3 days.

MerryPenopause · 01/08/2023 19:08

@Peae will you post new thread here if you’re setting one up? Keen to keep it up!

reabies · 02/08/2023 10:57

Hi everyone, I missed the end of the challenge as I was away with work. I weighed in this morning and it was disappointing, the trip away piled on some more and so my final weight today is 75kg. I started on 76.5, so 1.5kg down in 5 weeks. I find it so hard to stay on track when away (we had a wedding mid-july and then this work trip).

Anyway have just seen the new thread so will be heading over there to join and refocus on the countdown to September! Well done to everyone who got through these 5 weeks with amazing results!

HarpQuartet · 03/08/2023 06:13

This is weigh in zero for me, and this week I had a very slight gain, which I should be grateful for given how spectacularly I have fallen off the wagon.

Summary:
Started: 85.9
Finished: 83.1 (goal was 82)
Loss 2.8kg, about 1lb per week

With a bit more discipline I can see my goal as reachable. See some of you on the new thread xx
